Village in the jungle. Village in the jungle. Those words kept ringing through Naoko's mind as she stood at what could be defined as the border between the Cipher Jungle and the rest of the Digital World. See, after more than a few forays of volunteer work around this crazy heckhole of a world, Naoko knew better than to just accept Yukiko's request to go find this village within the jungle and observe the people in it. Nope, she decided to request some assistance in the form offfff...Two or three other people that were also in the club! She didn't know who they were but hey, it seemed like a good idea. And then because some amount of muscle that wasn't Titania was required? She decided to text Ryuko and ask if she wanted to come along too. She had no idea if either would actually show but...Until then, Titania was telling stories about times she spent with her cousins. "So then Selene slaps the top of this bug and goes 'this bad boy can fit SO many rookies on it' and then Medea lost her crap and started speaking in tongues. It was really weird and also I have no idea where she even found that bug."
"...I'm sorry what. A...bug? That's...That's so stupid..."
That was one way to kill some time.

Eeeeeeeeh? Her ol' buddy Naoko wanted her help? Well, who was she to say no? 'sides, she's never been to a jungle! Only thing she knew of jungles was that they were warm, and that weird animals lived there. So, Otohime walked towards the meeting point, swagger in her step, wearing nothing but a tanktop, jeans shorts, and of course her eyepatch and medical mask. Jiro was visibly upset by his tamer's get-up. "D-d-d-d-don't you think this is a little bit little for the jungle?" "Eh? Nah. If it's warm, I can't wear more. 'sides, I got all my shots, so dontcha worry." The Dracomon sighed and just kept walking.
The two came upon Noko just as Titania spoke about bugs. This caused Jiro to cringe and freeze. Otohime, though, did not notice. She was too busy grabbing Naoko and hugging her roughly. "Eyyyyy, Naoko ol' buddy ol' pal! Howsit hangin'?"

"Ah, field research. Is there anything more wonderful than this?" Dee the PetitMamon smiles calmly and serenely as her human partner follows behind sulkily as they trudge through the jungle. "I'd say knowing what the field research actually is would help."
"Not to worry, my dear assistant. Everything will be explained when we meet the rest of the party. Suffice to say, I took on a freelance offer with a chance of being hired in to a prestigious scientific organization."
"I'm not your assistant, I'm your partner! A little- whoa-" Ginji nearly trips over a felled branch - "information would be nice."
"Well.... it looks like you're about to get that information, my clumsy companion, as there they are!" The little imp waves towards the group as they approach. "It is I," she exclaims loudly and yet calmly, "Dee, the freelancer that took upon your offer. As arranged, I shall help in exchange for a payment... of scientific knowledge. I'm sure this job in and of itself will be its own reward."

Research, huh? That sounded interesting, even though this was the first time Amelie was about to meet with a lot of newer additions to the club. Like... Naoko, for example.
Speaking of which, she was walking beside the shorter girl like... right now? After all, somebody had to accompany new club members (and minors) to potentially dangerous situations, right? It was only fair for it to be that way. "You know... I didn't know that Haru had a little sister." She mentioned, a little absentmindedly. "She never talked about you, or... about a lot about herself, now that I think of it."
Besides that small game that Kuu made them play in the elevator, most of the club members were a bit of a mystery (besides from the fact that they seemed to abhor swimsuits, apparently). "Maybe it's because you're younger and taller? That'd explain a lot of things..."
Adopting a pretty classical thonking posture, the brunette wasn't expecting any kind of response, at least until she saw the rest of their small ensemble converge. Well, that was definitely a surprise.
"Oh, it's Ryuko and Jiro!" She waved at them, a big smile on their face. "How are you? Hope you've been doing well!"

Of course, leave it to Naoko to forget that one of their company had already been there. Hopefully Amelie was at least paying heed to the tale of Selene Who Slapped A Bug Bus Once or else Titania'd have been rambling like a madwoman! "...Yeah we're both pretty mysterious, huh? Though, I'm not that little. Taller than her, yep. Though I've been told I keep to myself a lot..." She replied to the other brunette.
She didn't have much time to thonk as Otohime came in from (to Naoko) seemingly nowhere and grabbed and hugged the everloving crap out of Naoko, who's single response was a real loud "I-I'M DOING FINE HOW ABOUT YOU?" This was the SINGLE CLOSEST she had ever gotten to someone that wasn't related by blood and it was awkwaaaard. Titania looked on and snerked before turning and waving at Dee, Ginjiro and Jiro. Lil imp freelancer, her slave, and...Hey, what's wrong with the Dracomon? "Yes, that's the thing that was arranged. Hope you like jungles and...I dunno, trees and stuff...Is he okay? How is everyone? Are they well?" The Kazemon lifted up her visor to reveal a pair of blue eyes that looked on in concern.

Otohime was...kinda unaware of Naoko's flusteredness, and just hugged her some more with a big grin under her mask "Doin' amazingly, buddy! Didn't know you were with nerd Squad! I'm totes hyped that ya wanna have me ol' knucklehead to come along, though!" She then turned to the familiar voice of Amy and smiled. "Oy! Good to see ya! How's the dog? ...and are you still mad at me?" Her usually so loud voice got rather quiet for that last sentence, and was filled genuine remorse. She then looked at the trees in the distance and regained her moxie. "So we goin' in there? That's cool. never been to a jungle!"
Jiro shivered a bit, then realized Titania was talking to him. He shook his head, not wanting anyone to worry or ask questions! "A-A-A-Ah! I-I-I-I'm ff-f-fine, don't worry!" He gave an awkward smile. He was definitely not fine. Something really spooked him!

Ginjiro glances back and forth between each Digimon, unblinking, unmoving. How are all of these Digimon all ... well... all Digimon? All sentient, all denizens of the Digital World, and yet are nowhere near similar in appearance.
Finally, he blinks. "S-sorry," Ginjiro says with a polite bow. "I'm... still getting used to this world." Dee facepalms, disappointed in and embarrassed by her assistant. "Ginji, dear... did your parents not tell you it is impolite to stare?" She removes her hand from her face, and examines who she has to work with. "I must admit though, I myself am surprised. So many humans interested in both science and the Digital World. It is nice to see such an interest and curiosity."
Dee patiently listens to everyone's conversation, waiting for a break. "I forgot to introduce someone. My apologies. This is my assistant Ginji."
"Partner," Ginjiro interjects. "I'm your partner! We just went over this-" Dee gives him a funny look, smirking slightly. "Are you sure about that, my dear assistant? I'm pretty sure someone else agreed with me on this..."
"I...um... r-right... I'm your assistant, sorry."

Undoubtedly, that was a very mysterious pair of sisters. Haru, with her outward confidence and kindness, yet with a veil of mystery behind what seemed like plain obvious on the outside. And Naoko, with her cryptic and probably-unintentionally deceitful exterior, yet way more straightforward on her answers than her older sister.
And, in a sense, it made her ponder on what kind of relationship the two girls had, but those thoughts, along with the previously what was previously thonked managed to disappear from her mind as soon as Ryuko decided to apply what at plain sight seemed like a MMA lock.
Of course, eventually, they broke away from each other, the older girl seemingly... still regretful about that incident in the onsen? "Oh, you're still worried about that?" In all honesty, the brunette had kinda forgotten about it by this point. Maybe it had been the relatively long period of time that had passed since then, or it was just her hectic lifestyle, but who really knew. "It's fine! You apologized already. Remember? There are no hard feelings, at least from my side!"
Once that had been taken out of the picture, what really mattered. "Mamoru's doing really well, even though I think he kinda misses you and Jiro. You should visit sometime; I'm sure he'll appreciate it."
It was just then when she noticed that the three girls (and their digimon partners, if applicable) weren't the only ones present in this small venture. There was another couple of members she had missed; shortsighted on her stead, hadn't it been?
Amelie waved at them, a friendly expression. "Pleased to meet you, too!" Their banter was... interesting, for the lack of a better word, even though she couldn't resist thinking about it a bit loudly... "Isn't being somebody's assistant something akin to a partnership, anyway? I don't see there being much of a difference, honestly."
A small shrug, then the question that more or less had brought them all here. "So... take everyone's ready to get to work? Even though I'm not exactly sure about what we're supposed to do. But I'm sure it'll be interesting!"

In time, Naoko was freed from the hug. "Well...I kind of just thought it had been a while since we had hung out. And we're friends, why wouldn't I want you along?" She was -very- quick to regain her composure. She promptly took a look at Ryuko and Amelie. Wait, they knew each other? "...Small world..." Naoko mumbled, softly, raising a brow at OTOHIME of all people growing quiet. She wasn't about to pry. That was their thing. Though...Her eyes quickly went to the orange Dracomon. That was probably Jiro. It looked like that CRAPPY image on Ryuko's phone...The mental image of that lil' lizard and a dog playing was actually adorable to her. "...I wanna meet your dog." Naoko uttered, before she straightened her posture a little.
"Yep. Going in that jungle. For science and 'cause my buddies are kinda busy. Nice to meet you, Mister Ginjiro." Naoko waved at Ginjiro. She felt a strange sense of deja vu seeing how the man was...very clearly at Dee's mercy. Probably cause of all the vassal-ing Titania made her do...
Speaking of!
The unvisored Kazemon nodded at Jiro. "If you say so...But you don't really sound fine. Or look it. And you're the partner of my tamer's friend, so I kinda feel like I'm obligated to look out for you. If you're afraid of something, lemme know and I'll kick 'em to the curb!"
Truly the fairy queen of legend that wasn't actually a queen. Naoko perked up at Amelie's question. Surely everyone was wondering why she had gathered them all here today, right? "I'll clarify that really quick. So. I hope everyone's...adequately prepared. We're going into a jungle in search of what I am told is a village full of Digimon of...different colors. Now, I'm well aware of the existence of such things like Tsukaimon or SnowAgumon or BlackGatomon but these folk are...different than the usual black and white variants we usually see. So my scholarly friends at the Field Club asked if I could go scope this out. I...thought it'd be a bit...what's the word...Nevermind. Point is I didn't want to go alone so I gathered you all here some way or another. Or asked for help. Uh...Ah...Shoot, any questions?"

Otohime blinked. "Eeeeeeeeeeh? Differently coloured Digimon? That's coooooooool! I bet they're like Jiro! Hey Jiro, is that your home??" The dragon Digimon gave an awkward smile and scratched the back of his head. "Eeeeee, n-n-n-n-no, th-th-that's not my home..." "Ah bummer, I figured we coulda met your family!" The dragon sighed. "Yeah, my family..." "Uuuuh, you ok buddy?" "Eeeeh? Y-y-y-yeah, d-d-d-on't worry about me!" Otohime looked at him, then shrugged and turned back to Naoko. "Nerdstuff, eh? Well that's shit I ain't good at at all, so I dunno if I'd have any questions! I'm jus' along for the ride and ready to kick someone's teeth in!"

Dee's grin could easily be described as impish, devilish, and any other of terms appropriate for her. What it could not be described as, however, was friendly. "See, silly Ginjiro?" She pats her 'assistant' on the leg. "We are a type of partnership. I'm the scientist partner, and you're the assistant partner!"
Ginjiro knows better not to argue. He sighs defeatedly, slumping just a tiny bit. He then puts on a smile for the group. "I'll do my best, everyone. Though I feel a bit out of place."
The mission was about 'Oddly-colored Digimon' but what did that mean exactly? Dee taps her forehead. "These variations can only be found in that area? I see three possibilities. It could be environmental. Perhaps something in the water? Or it could be... well, you'd probably call it 'genetic'. Perhaps there are ancestor Digimon with altered genes. Maybe even new antibodies similar to the X-antibody? Or... this one is a bit of a stretch, but... perhaps this isn't the only place they used to be found, but something either drew them or forced them to that area. What do you think, assistant?"
Dee puts Ginjiro on the spot, and he does not look happy to be there. "Um... well... if it were the latter... people would have heard about them... at least in some kind of legends? The others... I um.... I don't think there's any way of telling until we get there."
"Very good! Not the most informative or specific, but I agree. What about the rest of you? Any hypotheses?"

It was undoubtedly a small world, that much Amelie could think as she nodded to Koko's words. How the three actually knew about each other was nothing short of a pretty big coincidence, yet still something that ultimately saved them doing the introduction thing... at least on that side. Dee and Ginjiro were still people who she had to meet proper.
"Mamoru? Sure, you can visit him at any time; he's still a small doge, but he loves to play around and meet new people... or digimon, if his experience with Jiro is anything to go by."
Speaking of which, did the younger girl even have her direction? That was something that the brunette found herself pondering for a bit, until...
Yup, the motive of their small expedition was revealed; digimons of different colors populating a village, huh? That seemed interesting! And something she could definitely do, even if entertaining hypotheses wasn't something she wasn't a fan of. Less acutely than Otohime for sure, but she was also the type that just wanted to get her hands dirty as soon as possible with actual facts.
"I think we'll be able to assess the situation a lot better once we get there; even though something as simple as coloring could have pretty much any cause, as far as I am aware." After all, when parents had different species, pretty much everything could happen. "But if this phenomenon is so common, maybe it's something related to the village's environment, so... make sure to be careful, unless you want to exit on a different color!"
She laughed in a good-natured way, shrugging right afterward. "I'm ready to go whenever. Shall we?"
Given that Koko was the one in charge, it was only natural for her to lead the way.

"Well, yeah. They're kind of like Jiro and Titania in later forms, from what I was told. Or a...particular entity that we've crossed once...Kinda...Basically...Special people. Titania knows more about the location than I do, so we'll be following her directions...Speaking of..."
"Right. So. Follow the river that leads to the jungle's center. It lies along that path. A delta that breaks off from it is what we seek." The Kazemon slid her visor back down and nodded. "And, the fair lady Saboro is right. For the love of Homeostasis, please don't drink the water once we're there unless you want to be colored weird." Titania finished. "Basically we're going there to conduct a study on variants that seem to only be found in this area. So...yes, that's basically the gist of it, Lady Dee." All of those were rather plausible...But Titania didn't recall hearing a lot about the X Antibody being present there. Odd.
Naoko turned to Otohime and gave a shrug. "Well...whether or not you're good at it...I think you'll have fun. Besides, maybe you and Jiro could make some friends with the people? I'm hoping we don't have to fight anything, I don't know what to expect from the jungle at all..." She admitted, turning to proceed into the jungle with her pals in tow.
...Hopefully.

"Fun? Oh heck yeah, I love fun! And friends for Jiro! You hear that, lil' buddy? There might be friends for you there, cuz they look like ya!" The Dracomon manages an awkward smile. "Y-y-y-yeah, th-th-that'd be great...!" He seemed rather unsure, but eager nonetheless. The sukeban smiled, and then strode on ahead, toward the village! "Say, Naoko-kun, how'd ya end up with the nerdsquad anyway? I didn't think ya'd be in with the thinkers!" While this sounded like an insult to Naoko's intelligence, it most likely wasn't. The first thing most people becoming friends with Otohime notice is how the girl throws around insulting things without malice, because she just never thinks that far!

Who were all these people, and how did they seem to know each other? Ginjiro was an outsider looking in to a group of friends, or at least a web of friends where each person knows someone that knows another. It was both awkward, and yet, in a way, liberating. He has no idea what he's doing. If he messes up, he'll probably never see them again to worry about it.
The general consensus was to be careful about the possible environmental factors. "note to self," Ginji mutters, "do not eat or drink anything." Meanwhile Dee was also deep in thought, mumbling to herself. "Note to self: get my assistant to drink the water."
Despite being kind of nervous around Digimon, Ginjiro carefully approaches Jiro and Otohime. "Um... is something wrong? You seem nervous." He then backs off a bit. "N-not that it is any of my business or anything. Everyone else - your friends - have already asked, and I don't really know you, but I'm just concerned."
