Dragons on the Beat [Rosewood Job C/KOTR Recruitment]

Roy the Veemon and Rex the Guilmon had kind of come to enjoy living in the village of Rosewood. Even though it was filling up fast with new arrivals, so much that digimon often had to share houses or stay in the overcrowded inn, they didn't mind their living arrangements.
They were currently living in a little house in the west of the village, sharing it with a Gaomon named Owen and a Gumdramon named Bezil. Apparently the two were father and son, and the four of them quickly became friends. Like them, Owen and Bezil were hard workers, helping around the town with things like survival skills and foraging techniques. But Owen and Bezil's stay was only temporary, while they intended to live here.
The dragon brothers had heard of a group of digimon that were banding together as such to act in the defense of Rosewood, to help defend it and its ideals of peace and harmony from external threats of the digital world. And they clearly wanted to join. So, one day when they found a message on the notice board asking for volunteers for night duty peacekeepers, they took it up at once.
"Night duty, eh?" Owen asked when they told him. "I didn't think you two would be the policing type, but, if that's what you wanna do, go for it I'd say".
"Yeah, you guys can do it!" Bezil echoed. Hearing this made the twins nervous, but confident.
And so as the hour of their shift approached, the two of them sat in the lounge of their cottage. The night was still warm so they had no need of a fire yet. The two of them were on a sofa near Owen, who was sitting in an armchair. Bezil was seated on his lap, and the two of them were reading a large book, well, Owen was reading it out loud. Rex and Roy knew he mostly did this for Bezil's entertainment, they appreciated it too. Eventually, Owen's voice grew a little more soft and tired, until Roy realized that Bezil had already fallen asleep on his father's chest, and Owen was about to do the same. The Veemon took the heavy book, marked the page with a bookmark, then put it on the table beside them.
"Goodnight, Owen" Roy said, as Rex fetched a blanket for them.
"Yeah... night" Owen said, closing his eyes, apparently not wanting to disturb Bezil and take him to bed. With that done, Roy and Rex then looked to the clock, their shift was about to start soon.
"Alright, we should head out now" Roy whispered, making sure his tunic was on right, wanting to make a good first impression. Rex did the same. The two of them turned out the lights and left their roommates alone to sleep. They then made their way to the village square, where they would supposedly meet with their supervisor to brief them on what their duties were.
"I'm a little nervous, Roy" Rex admitted as they walked through the darkened town. "What if we come across bad guys?"
"Well, remember how Shoutmon dealt with them at the inn?" Roy answered. "We don't have to fight, we just have to act tough and be professional, but still prepared to fight if we have to".
Rex nodded, and the two arrived at the square, wondering who they would meet.

She hadn't lied when she said she wanted Rosewood to do well. That she wanted it to florish and continue onwards in memory of her nameless village that had been reduced to naught but ash. She wanted it to succeed where her home had failed so much so that she was willing to push herself for this place; willing to step forward and do what needed to be done.
The distinct problem was that she was fairly limited in how she could help. There were things she could do and things she could not; the latter of the two being more than the former. So of course when she looked over the job board and saw that there was something that she could do? Without much thought to it?
She jumped on it like a fly on rice.
It was an easy job for her at the very least; or at least it was something that she could simply just be there and be a presence for the place. Sometimes you didn't even need to do much more than walk around to give people that sense of safety or that sense that she was someone you could go to for problems.
They could after all step in when needed but she doubted that there would be much in the way of problems in such a small town. Even if there was she doubted that the two individuals she had been told would be joining her for tonight's patrol wouldn't be able to handle it. Though she didn't know much more than their names and kept forms the shutmon was more surprised when she saw two individuals approach her. Well more surprised at their dress than their forms rather.
A Veemon and a Guilimon.
She'd blink a few times and slowly stand up from the bench in the square that she had decided to wait for the two listed. Giving a brief wave K figured that she might as well introduce herself. Hopefully the three of them wouldn't run into trouble but now she was even more curious to see how they handled things.
"Roy and Rex I presume? Ready to get started? I can explain while we walk unless you'd rather going over things here."

Roy and Rex were rather surprised to see that the individual waiting for them was a Shutmon. An Ultimate level. The two of them could evolve to Champion if needed, but, wow, seeing an Ultimate level digimon for the first time, this was truly something else.
"Y-yep! We sure are!" Rex answered, giving a clumsy sort of salute. Roy did the same, wondering if that was the sort of thing he was meant to do. So, this was K. The twins wondered if that was short for something, but, they didn't really have anyway of knowing.
"So, just checking, you're K, right?" Roy asked. The Shutmon then asked if they wanted to be briefed on the move or wait a moment for a bit of briefing. The brothers exchanged looks for a moment, then decided the most cautious option might be the best for now.
"Actually... could you please give us a small briefing before we start patrolling?" Roy asked. "Sorry, just, we're not really sure what it is we're meant to be looking out for here, or how we should respond to an emergency".
He hoped that didn't sound too novice of a thing to say. He and Rex wanted to do good here after all.

The shutmon quietly rubbed her muzzle and stared at the two; she was more surprised that they gave her a salute than anything. She would hesitate to return it giving a somewhat bemused smile as she did so. She hadn't anticipated rosewood to have too many high level digimon working for it. She was more expecting this sort of level of things and wouldn't really mind the idea of working with them. After all youth had it's perks and they would likely be energetic enough to make up for any lack of experience.
"Good. Punctual, will do a lot of favors in the long run with that."
The shutmon let out a small chuckle and slowly stretch. The veemon inquired to her about if she was K. There was a small roll of the shoulders and stared down quietly at them. She wanted to tease, wanted to joke. Wanted to make something here but honestly while on the job it was better that she didn't.
"Yes I am K. Did they not tell you what form I would be keeping? Or a general appearance? If I wasn't K and said that I was how would you really know? That aside..."
The shutmon stretched further and stared down quietly at the two. If she wasn't K and had really done away with the 'real' K they would be in real trouble wouldn't they?
"Of course."
The shutmon gently gestured towards the main roads and then at the buildings that were within sight. Patrols like this were rather easy for a smaller town and if something happened they could respond rather quickly.
"So we just stick to the main roads for a majority of the patrol. Checking on buildings as we go. With the three of us we'll be able to do faster checks of buildings. We'll be looking for things out of place, such as evidence of forced entry, usually broken windows, claw marks or broken in doors... along with any breaks in walls. Simple city stuff for a smaller village like this will be quicker because of it's size. But that'll also allow us to be more thorough if the two of you want. Once we're done with the main roads we'll shift to do the side roads and alleyways; we'll also be checking on the supply storage regularly."
The shutmon continued to stretch, limbering up the best way she could. There was a lot that she could go over in the case of emergencies. But she figured to keep it simple.
"In the best case scenario, if there's an emergency the first thing you should do is don't panic. Keep your cool, assess the problem quickly and quietly. In the case of someone being hurt see how bad their wounds are, keep them calm as best you can. If there's a fire let me know IMMEDIATELY. There's a rudimentary system in place for taking care of it and we've got maybe a few digimon that can fight fires long term, but I've got something myself that can take care of it even if it's a large blaze... though I'd rather not have to resort to something like that."
The shutmon continued to stretch and once she was done would rub her muzzle; she seemed rather relaxed like this was next to nothing new for her. But in the scope of things making these patrols would help the villagers a lot.
"If we come across trouble, like criminals and what not it's better if we get a general appearance and such rather than giving chase; In such a small town there's only so many places they can hide and during the day they'll be restricted and caught by any patrols during that. If either of you get hurt let me know right away; it's important to try to not get hurt on these so just remember to keep yourself safe too okay?"
The shutmon considered quietly and stared down at the two of them.
"I've got a lot of things that can handle all sorts of situations but that's not the point of these patrols. We're here to make the villagers feel safe and prove that this place can be safe to them. If we have to fight someone, I want you two to be careful about that. As most digimon won't want to use higher forms in a town like this but that also doesn't mean they won't if they're cornered. I will step in when I deem it to be appropriate; but this patrol is more for you two than it is for me. But don't worry. There isn't as much pressure on night patrols as there are on day ones, so just take your time to learn what you can~"

Roy and Rex were glad at the praise of being punctual. The twins would never want someone to be kept waiting too long after all.
However, her next question caught them off guard. The Veemon and Guilmon exchanged worried looks. Had that been a test that they had just failed? After all, this could have easily been a trap. "S-sorry, K" Roy said, his confidence taking a little blow. "I... guess there was no way of us knowing".
They'd take this as a lesson for later however. For now there was their briefing.
The mention of checking buildings was confusing to Roy and Rex, at least until K actually mentioned that they would only be checking them superficially. It was at that moment that they decided to keep their mouths shut until she had finished talking.
What she said made sense. Monitor the village, and keep an eye open for its weak points, namely its supply storage. If someone was to cause lasting harm to Rosewood they would indeed aim there.
The twins then listened to K's briefing on emergencies. There was one question they had to ask though.
"So... how do we assess how bad injuries are?" Rex asked, the Guilmon looking sincere. "Is it... how much data is bleeding out? Or... uh... sorry, I don't know much about this stuff" he admitted.
Thankfully they both knew how dangerous fire was. "Of course, we'll let you know right away" Roy assured her. Then, the talk of policing, while they had been worried about the prospect of having to chase down suspects and apprehending them on the spot, well, they calmed down a little after K's talk.
"Okay, we'll do our best in that" Roy said. "But... what it it's outsiders that are attacking? You know, those outside the village that want us to fall?"
But with K's final speech, neither brother spoke at that. It was logically sound. This patrol was being done for the benefit of Rosewood, and the village could only prosper if they could do well at it. For a moment, Roy and Rex glanced at each other, as though to test whether or not they were prepared for all this. Roy could tell Rex just wanted to do well to help out other digimon, while Rex could tell Roy wanted the same.
"Okay. We're ready" the Veemon and Guilmon said together.

"It's nothing to apologize for, it's more those that assigned you to this that should of been a little more specific. Safety and information is key after all~"
The shutmon chuckled and kept stretching, popping one of her shoulders slightly with a long exhalation that followed. She was tense for good reasons and wanted this for the most part to go smoothly. She wouldn't be against it having some bumps that were minor but she certainly wasn't looking for a full fledged fight in the village.
"It'll be pretty obvious depending on how bad someone's hurt. Light injuries will often just be scuffs, bruising and such. Maybe twisted or dislocated joints. Medium injuries will be something that people will have hard time moving and won't want to move on their own because of the pain. If data is bleeding out the quickest thing you can do is trying to stop that; that's extremely bad as losing too much can be fatal. Most types of injuries that are past medium it's very likely that the digimon won't be responsive in the slightest, and if they are they'll be sluggish or won't talk. Just keep calm in any of the facts and you'll do fine. If needed I can heal them but that'll take a little time depending on how bad it is."
The shutmon continued to stretch and gesture during her explanation. There was a lot that they could realistically could go wrong and a lot that they could do about it. She also could sit here explaining out litterally all night with all the possibilities themselves but a generalized enough 'lesson' would hopefully be enough. Thankfully they seemed to understand about the fire but then roy addressed another problem; another fact. There was a distinct pause and the Shutmon sighed.
"If outsiders attack, bandits, mercenaries or the like We'll have to raise the alarm to make sure that people can get to safety or get away from the location of the attack itself. Depending on the strength of the individuals attacking will also dictate who raises the alarm. Anything too strong and I'll want the both of you to do so okay? What forms are you most comfortable with?"
The shutmon tilted her head at the last statement that the two said together and she'd simply gesture down the main street. Opposite of where the two had come from.
"We'll start down this way then. We'll take our time and hopefully there won't be any trouble tonight. Rosewood doesn't need that right now..."

Roy adjusted the belt around his waist that fixed his tunic in place as he took in K's words. She taught them the very basics of first aid, and he and his brother would remember it well.
"Roy can kinda heal too" Rex said, a little proudly. Roy blushed a little and affirmed this.
"Well... kinda" he admitted. "I can only accelerate their natural healing a little". He hoped that once he evolved further he would be more adept at doing so. Healing was a wonderful ability that could be of so much more benefit than mindless destruction.
K's advice on how to deal with outsiders was also sound. Rather than take them on themselves, call for backup. Raising the hue and cry in Rosewood would get everyone alerted to the danger, then hopefully they'd stand a better chance. Roy glanced up at the taller buildings of the village, noting the bells in them. So, that was what they were for?
"Well, Rex and I can evolve to Champion, but we can't hold those forms for very long without getting tired" Roy explained. "So we'd stay in our rookie forms for as long as we have to, if that's okay" Roy explained to her.
Then, at last, they were ready to begin their patrol. Roy and Rex walked either side of K, keeping up with her stride as they kept their eyes out for trouble. Rosewood was pretty at night. Rather quiet, only the sounds of nocturnal digimon going about their business could be heard. The street lights had been lit, illuminating the way around the middle of the village. It was somewhat tranquil, but neither of the dragon brothers lowered their guard. They had to do well here, and not treat this as a casual late night stroll.

"Can he? that'll be useful. Even if it's natural healing being accelerated that'll be better than what most can do."
The shutmon's own forms usually kept in the sort of mystical healing rather than any actual physical nature like that. It wasn't much of a surprise considering which forms were the ones that held it. With a firm hum she'd gaze quietly at the two.
"It's fine; if rookie is where you're comfortable you should stick with it. Might be a good idea to work on your endurance for later down the line when the village gets larger and you're doing these on your own."
There was a soft almost sweet smile that followed suit and K herself trotted at a rather leisurely pace. Though before too long her arm blades clicked and her ears perked curiously. Seeing the few nocturnal digimon conducting their business as normal the Shutmon would only give a small wave.
She seemed relaxed, almost somewhat too relaxed. But when it came to this sort of thing that was just an easy ruse for her to pull off. Past that smile and gentle seeming stature was something of a menace. Something ready to step forward if needed.
"So if you don't mind me asking, what brings the two of you to rosewood?"
The shutmon hummed and leaned to look down an alley tilting her head just a little bit. She didn't see anything and she would rather keep it that way. The less trouble they had on these night patrols the better after all. Would certainly make the day patrols a little less skittish if the night ones didn't have a problem.
Well that and they did ask her to run a patrol once or twice a week during the night. It was rather funny to her that they would approach her in such a nervous manner about it. The shutmon glanced at the two and tilted her head to one side.
There were a lot of reasons they would of wanted to come here...

Roy was kind of reassured that his limited healing abilities were okay as they were. They also took note of K's advice that they'd best work on their endurance so that they could last longer in their upper forms. Which was logical, they could easily be ambushed if they walked around as rookies the whole time.
Then, after K halted to investigate a noise, she seemed to decide to ask them why they had come here.
"Well... to be honest, we didn't like it much on El Doradimon" Rex admitted right away. Roy would have put it more subtly, but his brother spoke the truth. "They're so paranoid and angry about humans, even though we know they're nice, so, we came down to the surface to look for a place. And eventually we came here, because it seemed like the easiest place for a digimon to get to grips with the world around them, right, Roy?"
"Y-yeah" Roy admitted, liking that reason. "Places like Terminus and Whitewater are kinda overwhelming, but this place... all its digimon working together, building something from seemingly nothing, making it grow, how most others are nice to each other here, we like it... and, frankly, we wanna chip in and help out too".
"Yup! And since we can evolve to Champion when we want, we think that we can do a bit more than we are now" Rex added. "And eventually, we'll be able to prove to our origins on El Doradimon that humans aren't so bad. We get along with them really well here in Rosewood, so, nothing bad is gonna happen if we accept them".

K paused and glanced at Rex; these two were from El Doradimon? She had never been there and had heard the stories of how isolationist that grouping of digimon could be. They didn't like humans very much from what she could remember and the last time that she had met a mon from there she had still been an innkeeper. It was a rapid back and forth between the two brothers and K let out a loose chuckle.
"You two are from El Doradimon? That's a surprise. I can't really blame people for being fearful of something they don't understand. But humans are... certainly different you two have that right. In a good way of course."
The Shutmon continued to walk along the street, checking allies. Peering into windows of stores here or there. She'd scratch at her head and turn to look at the two of them.
"I can agree with terminus and whitewater being overwhelming. It's enticing and nice to see something being built again rather than having to have them be rebuilt. I'm glad two young mon's like yourselves want to chip in around here."
The shutmon sighed a little bit and rubbed at her muzzle still paying close attention to her surroundings. Her ears and eyes didn't seem to stop moving; she wasn't nervous but she was taking in a lot all at once.
"It'll take a while, people are slow to change but it'll be very much worth it in the long run. I wouldn't suggest trying to bring a human there any time soon though!"
The shutmon let out a small chuckle and shake her head, sporting a toothy grin before moving onward. One of her arm blades seemed to rotate a little bit on it's own and the shutmon herself seemed to be in a somewhat cheerful mood.
"Human relations are important, after all it's not like we can exactly stop them from coming into the digital world. Much like how they can't really stop us from going there. A mutually beneficial relationship would be for the best..."
There was a slight pause that followed and the shutmon scratched at her head.
"Though the human world is much more safe than the digital one... Especially with all that's happening."

"Yeah, that's true" Roy admitted. "Humans are different. Although... their history is pretty scary, I'll admit". Roy remembered being told from back when he was a DemiVeemon that humans tended to invariably resort to violence if they didn't get their way, and were particularly cruel to those that were different to them. But when he had met a human for the first time and was proven wrong in the matter, put down those tales to misunderstandings and myths.
The young dragons beamed as they heard K's praise and understanding at their worldviews. "Yeah of course, we don't wanna have the humans get hurt if they go near it" Rex assured her.
On her next point, they also agreed, Roy plucking at the collar of his tunic. "Yeah, humans seem just as smart as digimon. Even a little more so in fact. I heard that most humans here are 12 to 20 years old... that's a long time isn't it?"
And on K's last point, that made the twins curious. "All that's happening?" Rex repeated, the Guilmon tilted his head. "You mean... things like these strange black towers and red essences showing up around the digital world?"
That made Roy curious too. "Do you know anything about those, K?" he asked, wondering if the more experienced Ultimate level could tell them more about those things. Honestly, it all sounded terrifying to the young digimon. And if things like that were to happen to Rosewood... that would be bad.

"As is our own, but that doesn't stop people from making a difference."
The shutmon peered down an alleyway and flicked an ear as Rex assured her about how they didn't want to have humans get hurt. The both of them seemed so into what they were speaking about. There wasn't any plastered lies or false bearing they were trying to lead her on. They were being honest and she appreciated that.
"There's some form of time dilation going between the human and digital world. For every year there it's seven here. So your commonplace twelve year old would actually be about eighty or so for us."
The shutmon let out a loose chuckle. There weren't any humans as old as her, or perhaps as old as some of her friends that she knew of either. Humans wildly varied and she found herself placing a single hand on the wall of a building as she contemplated what this place would look like in eighty some human years.
Her ears flicked and she'd turn her head to stare at the other two. The strange black towers, the D-reaper and those orbs she had heard about. But the latter most of which she had also heard nothing about proper for a while. Was that threat in particular over or was it just bubbling underneath the surface?
"The towers and the red essence yes. I know.. quite a bit about both not as much as I'd like nor as much as I'd want."
The shutmon brought up a hand to her muzzle and rubbed it thoughtfully. Staring at the two for a long span of time before continuing onwards.
"The towers themselves are a set threat, they have locations that they are established in through means no one seems to know. The halt the ability of individuals to digivolve past a certain point. Armor evolutions seem to bypass this to a degree. Each tower has a guardian or guardians depending on the tower's size or perhaps just.. the unlucky nature of the mons forced to guard it."
The shutmon would gently pull on her cloak around her neck and point at it. A long time ago she had been forced to serve as a guardian for a brief stint for someone's experiment gone wrong.
"They are forced to serve in some capacity by Dark rings that attatch themselves to these guardians. Commonplace is the neck or a primary extremity. They are... usually stronger than the field permits others. Champion fields will allow the guardian to be champion while the others are armor champion or less. I've taken.. three now I believe? Every time there's always been a group of sorts to take them out, split them fifty fifty. One group handles the guardians, one group handles the tower."
The shutmon traced her finger down to a particular bite mark that seemed to shine through her fur. It was a gentle red, but it was a deep scar. There was a frown that followed suit and the shutmon let her cloak fall back into place.
"The red essence as you call it is in fact known to many by the name of the D-reaper. From what I've learned it handles small scale corruption; or it is supposed to. Like when two strong digimon get into a fight it often warps the landscape, their job is to make the landscape 'whole' again."
The shutmon sighed a little bit and shook her head, crouching to check underneath a deck that stuck out to one side. Some thieves did like to sneak in this way after all!
"Something has altered this though making it act... erratically. You've heard what happened in the Dark area yes? Well. I was there when it went down. Off to see my father no less. The D-reaper corrupts, overtakes and consumes digimon in varying fashions. Those with a particularly strong will the D-reaper uses as agents while sending out it's own creations of sorts. I've only ever fought against a proper D-reaper agent digimon once. A secondary type that wasn't wholey gone a few months later."
There was a long pause and K slowly stood up. She never really bothered explaining this sort of thing to others. How she died, how she came back. Her husband a few select friends knew but it was... something odd.
"For all my strength at the time, a digimon capable of mega evolution I was powerless against a single creature and the individual with it. I had no plan, no idea what I was facing, and it had every little nook against me. I lost. Badly. So much so I was digitized."
The shutmon shook her head and continued down the street pausing when they would eventually reach the 'end' of it that would of course just have to make them take a different route.
"When I reached the capability of super mega I decided that I would do my best to protect the digital world. Gathering information about these threats and acting upon them. Thus the Knights of the rose were born. If you look..."
The shutmon would peer and point off in the distance. She knew what to look for so Vander tower was something easy to find for her. For people that didn't know where to they would probably find it hard to see that dark patch in the night.
"You can see it. Flying rock, much smaller than luminas but big enough to grow on. Figured building a fortress outside of the newest upcoming city was a good idea."
There was a host of other reasons she chose this place; she'd grin and put her hands on her hips. She knew she could protect this place, and if there were others well...
"That and I wanted to keep an eye on my old home. Have to protect the sapling so it can grow into a tree, even if it's among ashes. Eventually I want to protect the rest of the world too. It's big, but that's what a group is for you know?"

"Time... dilation?" Rex repeated, the Guilmon putting a claw to his throat in thought as he tried to picture that. "So, seven years... huh... wow! Eighty years?!" his yellow eyes widened with amazement. "But that means..."
"Well, they still would've spent their shorter years on Earth, so, they're still 12 years old rather than 80 when they arrive here" Roy explained to his brother. Rex paused for a moment as he tried to picture that, before he shook his head, deciding it was all a little too much to think about at the moment.
But after they asked about the towers and red essence, they noticed that K's expression had changed. Roy stammered as he spoke. "S-should we have asked that?" he asked, a little worried, but thankfully K explained it to them.
So, the towers, they were fixed edifices that prevented evolution beyond Armor Champion. They also tended to have enslaved Champion levels defending them. The brothers exchanged worried glances, that sounded like a terrible thing.
"Right, so, the dark rings are the key in those scenarios" Roy said. "Although... once the towers are knocked down, the rings become useless, right?" he wondered which was easier to take out.
Then K talked about the red essence. Roy and Rex noticed that K seemed to have a mark on her, resembling that of a bite. Neither interrupted her when she spoke though.
"The D-Reaper..." Rex repeated, sounding a little worried. They listened to her story of what happened in the dark area with horror. At once, both felt guilty for asking information about something like this so simply, when they had no idea just how much K had been affected by this.
"Oh, K, I'm so sorry..." Rex said, looking up at her with sympathy. "But... you're okay now, right?"
Then they looked to where K was pointing. A mysterious floating island. Given their origins, Roy and Rex thought it was a digimon at first, but no, this was a genuine floating island so to say. K explained that it was a fortress made to defend Rosewood. The brothers looked upon it with awe.
"That's amazing, K" Roy said, utterly impressed. "We... uh... weren't born here, but, um... we wanna help out how we can too" the Veemon pulled on his tunic again to explain himself further. "I mean... most digimon in Rosewood can't evolve past Rookie, but we can, so... what I'm asking is, uh..."
"Can we help you out too?" Rex cut Roy off suddenly. Roy blinked, then nodded, indicating that was what he wanted to say. "You're so experienced with stuff in the world, K, we wanna learn from you... and help you out in protecting this place from harm".

"You've got the jist of it yes."
Perhaps she should of been a little more direct with that; or at least explained it in a more fluid manner. Sometimes it was difficult and the shutmon blinked however when Roy inquired if they should of asked that. She'd simply wave that off; her personal feelings on the matters at hand didn't change what needed to be done. She'd fight both of them wherever they popped up regardless of her own problems.
"Correct. Without the guardians you can attack the towers as need be, but without the tower there is no fight. It sorely depends on which would be easier for whatever group that comes across them. In smaller bouts it's easier to focus on the guardian while in larger groups it's easier to focus on the tower. Using your enviroments, cards, allies, tactics... everything can meet up to make them seem trivial but don't get ahead of yourself when dealing with them."
K paused and scratched at her neck when Rex asked if she was okay. To be honest... she was much better than when she had died. She had become stronger, more fierce in combat, she had a purpose in this world that she had sorely lacked at the time. The shutmon would gently nod and give the young mon a small smile.
"I'm fine, but that doesn't stop the threat from being there. Information regarding the D-reaper is scarce as well as tactics regarding it for the moment. But as time passes we'll learn more about them and how to deal with them. But every time that we fight them they grow stronger, so fighting them must be done smartly, carefully... I wouldn't think about fighting them without a plan of some sort to be perfectly honest."
K turned her head when the both of them started to speak. How they weren't born here, how that most of the digimon in rosewood couldn't digivolve past rookie... Both of them seemed nervous and when Rex cut off his brother with that question K found herself chuckling.
"I could use a pair of mons like you in the knights. Honest, willing to learn. Surprisingly level headed for your age. Lets finish up this patrol and I can give you something that'll allow you to come up to Vander Tower. For now it'll be a good idea to keep watch of this place, and since you two already want to help this would be such a place to learn and grow. And don't worry; I'll have plenty of things I can teach you."
The shutmon gestured for the two to follow her down the next street... after all it was a full night they'd have to partake in patrolling! But the shutmon herself was pretty happy with the idea of having more members in the knights, individuals that could grow with the world as it needed... She'd pause at the first building and glance at the two of them, that grin growing a little wider as she started to explain something again.
"There's rules and general regulations I have written back up in vander tower. Most of it is simple, but there's things in there to keep us out of trouble or how to deal with a threat. And trust me when I say this, I won't be sending you out to go against something I didn't think you couldn't handle."

Roy and Rex relaxed a little as K waved her paw. But they listened to what she had to say of that threat. "Okay... so, a control spire has the ability to grant a huge advantage to the defending party..." Roy stated, the Veemon rubbing his chin. "Best approach it as a team and... wait, cards, what do you mean by that?" he asked, tilting his head.
They then heard of K's experience with the D-Reaper. "Yeah, true, it sounds like a super dangerous thing" Roy remarked. He for one wouldn't dare approach it, only attempt to learn information about it. Rex would do the same, although the idea of something so aggressively corrosive to good lives on the digital world was quite offensive to him. His tail flicked angrily and he scowled, but, given this anger could not be constructively placed, he did his best to cast it aside.
Then K accepted their offer. Both of the dragon twins were thrilled at that. "Yeah, of course! We'll finish the patrol!" Roy said, hoping not to disappoint. Rex did the same. The Veemon and Guilmon kept their ears pricked up high for whatever challenge was out there. But they turned to the Shutmon when she spoke again.
"Oh, of course, yeah, if there's rules we'd do our best to follow them" Rex said, nodding eagerly. Roy thought the same, but hoped the rules weren't anything that went against his principles. He'd wait until he knew what they were before making a commitment to them.
