"That guy was charging at us pretty fast. If I had amazing super powers like you guys, I probably would've shot first and asked questions later, myself," Adrian admitted as he got up and took off his mini diving gear. "But hey, we had lots of fun before that, didn't we?"
"For sure, totally!" Shoutmon happily replied. He turned around to Red and noticed how absolutely wiped out he was from those Digivolutions. "Hm, yes, it seems to be a case of 'Digivolutionitis,'" Shoutmon says, pretending to sound like a professional doctor. "I recommend a solid three to seven days of doing nothing."
"Oh my god, Shoutmon," Adrian had to laugh as he dried off and put his shirt back on. After Shoutmon was done joking, he helped Red up and helped him to walk if he needed it.
"Come on, guys, let's bend to the will of our stomachs and chow down!"
If the group were to continue walking, not too far from them would be a small wooden building with some tables and chairs set up close to it, which was a snack shack that was run by a nice little Toucanmon, who was currently either preparing ingredients or tending to other customers.

"I'll give you an acute case of foot in the ass..." That was what Shoutmon grumbled as he held a hand up for someone, anyone to help him up to his feet. It turned out to be the other Shoutmon, who proceeded to take one of the red digimon's arms around the other's digimon's shoulders.
"He's right, you know," Veemon couldn't help adding with a hint of amusement.
"Don't you start, Bunnybreath." Like the first time Shoutmon had called him 'Blue,' Veemon's eyes went wide and cheeks became a bit darker before he started to help Shoutmon limp along toward the snack bar.
"Don't worry about him," Leith preempted, assuming the toucan digimon were bound to wonder why a digimon was unable to walk on his own, "He's exhausted, not injured."
"Could I have some guava juice?" Shoutmon's groan was Veemon's cue to amend himself, "Make that two, please."
"No food? I'm thinking... yeah, I'll go for a slice o' chocolate cake. No parents, no problem." Louder, Shoutmon groaned, now obviously showboating. Still, Leith humored him. "Double that. And listen, Adrian, we've still gotta talk about what happened. Think a snack'll keep you calm enough to handle it?"

"Bunnybreath?" Adrian and Shoutmon both asked at the same time, obviously confused by what in the world that meant.
"Like... do you mean an Elecmon or something? That's the closest Digimon I can think of that looks like a bunny."
"But he doesn't even look CLOSE to an Elecmon," Shoutmon adds. "If you guys were trying to hide some kinda secret, well you kinda have to let us in on it now."
When the group came up to the snack bar, the Toucanmon smiled at them and was truly welcoming. "Hello there! Welcome to my little food bar! ...er, is your friend okay there?" Toucanmon asked, referring to Red as he looked close to death. Leith proceeded to explain that the Shoutmon was just exhausted, and that relieved Toucanmon somewhat. "Well, some warm food should help that, right? What can I get for you all today?"
After Leith and Veemon put in their orders, Adrian spoke up next. "I'll just take a... meat sandwich?" It was literally just a piece of Digimeat in between two pieces of bread. "And I'll also take a cup of mango smoothie, as well."
"As for me, I'll have a good old can of DigiNoir, and a chocolate milkshake!"
"Alrighty! Coming right up!" Toucanmon said cheerfully as he began to make everyone's order. That was when Leith brought up the incident again. Adrian was... a tad less than friendly with this.
"What is there to talk about? We got ambushed, yours and White Wolf's Digimon suddenly turned on us, and it was only pure luck that you're not dead right now because of us."

"Thanks, Toucanmon. Shoutmon, it's not really a secret," Leith rebutted Adrian's Shoutmon, though the fact that his cheeks turned the same shade as that digimon's seemed to contradict his claim. "I can think of other digimon who resemble rabbits, but Elecmon was one hell of a lucky guess. This one got a boyfriend." Leith inclined his head in the direction of Veemon on the word 'this.' This time Veemon's awkward smile turned into a giddy grin, and the transformation almost looked like one he had tried to fight against but lost. Leith actually went through a similar transformation for a moment, but he elected not to explain why. His, after all, was a little more of a secret.
Of course, the real matter at hand wiped both their smiles away about as fast as they could come. "I didn't turn against him!" Veemon cried.
"We know, Vee. There's no evil in the absence of choice. But Adrian, no, that's otherwise accurate but still not everything. There's a bigger problem at play here: a threat to our world from this one, not to mention the enslaved digimon." Leith swallowed, and his voice became a little shaky. "We can't just sweep that under the rug."

"A boyfriend?" Shoutmon asked. He was not aware of the very concept of dating and romance, so that term confused him tremendously. "What does that mean?"
"It basically means that Veemon has someone that he actually really cares about," Adrian tried to explain to Shoutmon. It did not go the way he thought it would.
"You mean like the way we care about each other? I thought-"
"NO NO NO NO NO, NOT like that at all," Adrian interrupted Shoutmon, almost falling right off of his seat. Oh god, Shoutmon was so naive when it came to that stuff. He didn't want Leith thinking that they were... together like that. That was both weird and gross.
The conversation turned from awkward to truly dire in an instant. Leith brought up how RedMagnamon was indeed a huge threat to the human world, but they couldn't do anything about it since Shoutmon was essentially the metallic wrapper to the chocolate bar that was RedMagnamon. Adrian brought Leith in a bit closer so Shoutmon couldn't hear what they said.
"Leith, you have no idea how hard this has been for us. Every day, I just pray to God that it doesn't happen just so that I could keep my best friend. And after that situation back in Frontier Village, I don't want you or anyone else involved in this. And that is not a request; it's a demand."

Funny as that misunderstanding about boyfriends was, there wasn't a lot to laugh about given the other subject at hand... though that didn't stop Leith's Shoutmon, though knackered, from chortling rather loudly. "You don't know how hard it's been, Adrian." Leith refused to back down even from someone so much bigger than himself. Luckily this distance kept him away from Veemon, too, which gave him the liberty to divulge, "Veemon faced down a pair of psycho bitches whose sole desire was to kill him, so let it be a testament to his selflessness that what actually traumatized him was the time he was almost the weapon that killed me. That's not to mention the other stuff I mentioned that already concerns all of us. You lost the chance to kick me out when you brought us there."
Leith jumped when Veemon, frowning, showed he had been listening by speaking up, "And they know our faces now." That said very little but implied very much, like the fact that the enemies knew Leith and company were friends of Adrian's, that his Shoutmon was immune to the mind control, and that the knights could use all of that information to do the obvious thing: eliminate the threat of an immune digimon and use the rest to get to Adrian.
"Vee-"
"-Leith, I'm begging you."
Leith sighed but let Veemon's obvious discomfort go. After all, he felt the same. "It's not about you, Adrian, but if you want it to be, then fine. From the perspective that it's about you, we're your friends, and you're icing us out when you need us most. I know what self-destructive behavior looks like because I am a master at it like you saw for yourself. The difference is I'm not gonna let you get away with it." There was a harshness in Leith's calmness that just couldn't be conveyed through yelling, but this wasn't anger. Would Adrian be able to tell this was a comrade scared for his friends' well-being through the accusatory tone? Leith could only hope.

"Shut up..." Shoutmon growled lowly at Red, his face visibly blushing red.
With that out of the way, the fight was now really heating up. "Leith, they have the power to control other Digimon like back at the village. The only Digimon immune to that technology are themselves and Shoutmons. It was a mistake bringing you all into this in the first place, and if ANYONE is going to die at the hands of them, it will not be my friends."
"And I'd hate to say it, but I'm on his side..." Shoutmon confessed. "I barely trust myself these days. It's because of me that innocent Digimon were nearly killed in Terminus, where we first encountered those creeps. I don't want anyone to become deleted."
"Um... your order is ready?" Toucanmon awkwardly said as he placed everyone's food in front of them and immediately turned around to help someone else. He would avoid this group to the best of his ability for the rest of the day.
"Er... thanks," Adrian dismissively says to the Toucanmon. After taking a sip of his drink, he turned back to Leith. "Look... I'm not stupid. I know that we can't do this on our own. But like you said, this is definitely serious. I'm going to organize a plan for us in case it does end up happening. I can't let Shoutmon know since his past memories might transfer to that psycho RedMagnamon, so I can message them to you later. Deal?"

Whoops. Leith had totally forgotten Toucanmon while the moment was getting heated. Now he had gone and created an awkward situation for someone uninvolved. Oh, well. That wasn't the important thing anyway. Fuck. Shoutmon is serious. I couldn't even imagine being in his position. Leith glanced at Veemon then, who was sipping his guava juice and convincing everybody else that he wasn't burning up inside except for Leith. I can't imagine what you're thinking either. My guess: you're terrified you're another RedMagnamon.
Adrian's offer didn't earn immediate gratitude. Leith was suspicious, believing this was just an effort to try and appease him... and probably a lie.So the young man leaned forward and smoke calmly yet very firmly, "I'm going to be holding you to that very strictly. Count on it." Leith's Shoutmon started to make a weak grabbing motion toward his share of the meal, so Leith and Veemon each slid a slice of cake and a cup of juice over toward him. His grabbing motion sure looked a lot less weak once it was within his range, seeing as he started gorging himself. "And on that lovely note, let's eat."
Leith was slightly more civilized than Shoutmon, preferring to use a spoon rather than a fork but, hey, the red digimon was using his bare hands and getting frosting all over them.

"We'll cross that barrier when we get to it," Adrian told Leith, just wanting to drop the subject entirely so the group could enjoy their meal. Adrian poked at his... sandwich for a while, wondering if it was the best idea to order such a thing. Meat in this world grew on farms, so he wasn't entirely sure if it was edible for a human.
"Hey, if you're having second thoughts on that sandwich, I'll trade ya," Shoutmon tells Adrian, handing him his can of DigiNoir. "Digimeat can be a bit weird for you humans, heheh."
"Thanks," Adrian tells his partner as he traded his sandwich for the can. Opening it up, he tossed the contents inside right into his mouth. They tasted oddly like honey; definitely a better deal than the sandwich, which Shoutmon took a giant bite out of. On top of that, he chewed with his mouth open.
Red wasn't so hot on the manners side either, as he just ate his cake with his bare hands. Adrian looked back and forth at the two with wide eyes, before giving up and sighing. "Why do Shoutmons have such horrible manners?"
"I agree," A sudden voice said, causing both Adrian and Shoutmon to jump and fall off their seats from shock. After recovering from mini heart attacks, they looked up and saw a Falcomon now standing there.
"Where the Frigimon did you come from?!" Shoutmon yelled.
"Same way anyone would." Was all the Falcomon said before walking up to the Snack Shack counter. "One DigiNoir."
"Coming right up!"

"Hmm?" The Falcomon hadn't appeared in the field of vision of Leith, Veemon, and Shoutmon, so they weren't as startled as Adrian by him. They were, however, at least as annoyed. "Can we help you?"
"OK, first off..." Shoutmon's mouth was full then, but since he had so much to say he (for once) finished chewing and swallowing before he continued speaking. However, he kept the group in suspense for a while, in no hurry to stop savoring his slice of cake. When he was finally satisfied, he pointed at Adrian and casually dropped a, "Fuck off," at him before point at the Falcomon. "And second, fuck off."
"He's not wrong," Veemon couldn't help pointing out with a hint of amusement.
"You know what I'm gonna say, right?"
"He's still not wrong."
Leith leaned in toward the other Shoutmon and Falcomon to quietly suggest, "Maybe we should get going before we have to start a fight."

The Falcomon had said nothing to Leith and just waited for his order to be ready, as Toucanmon had plenty of other customers that he had to deal with as well. He even managed to ignore Red, something that was thought impossible to even consider doing.
"You don't just ignore someone if they have a question, bucko," Shoutmon tried telling off the Falcomon, but again he just said nothing in response. "Hey, stop that!" Again, nothing. "JUST SAY SOMETHING!!!"
"Shoutmon, chill out," Adrian scolded him, "He's none of our business. And Leith's right, don't make a fight out of this."
A vein of anger could be seen throbbing on the Falcomon's head as he just had to sit there and listen to these idiots talking to one another. Eventually, he decided he had enough and flew away. Unfortunately, that was when Toucanmon came back with the DigiNoir.
"Huh? Hey, where did he go?"
"Pantomime just kinda flew away," Shoutmon shrugged.
"How unfortunate, he paid for his order and everything. Maybe he'll come back."
"For our sakes, I hope not," Shoutmon whispered to Red, snickering.
After a while, the group were now finishing up their snacks, leaving them wondering what to do next. Adrian turned to Leith and his Digimon and asked, "You guys have any ideas?"

Leith could have done without Shoutmon fighting for the Falcomon's attention. Yeesh, didn't need to talk to him that badly! If the asshole wants to be gone, let him. Fortunately for all parties involved, Adrian seemed to agree, as did Falcomon. The group was spared more of his rude interjections after all. "Well, we've been swimming, diving, and dining. I don't know how much time you've got, but after that I feel like I just wanna relax."
"I've still got some energy to burn!"
"Ugh... God... no more walking..." Shoutmon's groaning reminded Leith and Veemon that he was still suffering from-
"What'd you call that, Shoutmon? 'Digivolutionitis?' I'm with him. I'm up for the thought of doing a whole lot of nothing for the rest of the day." Veemon's expression seemed to soften, too, himself having almost forgotten what kind of shape Shoutmon was in, too.
"Yeah... maybe something restful would be better."

"Yeah, some relaxation and drinks would be killer right about now," Shoutmon agrees as he gets up from his seat. He then begins to survey the land in front of him, until he found a pretty good spot on the sand underneath a tall palm tree, providing plenty of shade. "Hey, how about there?"
"Yeah, we can just relax there for the rest of the day," Adrian says as he gets out his bag and pulls out a couple of towels to rest on the sand. "Hopefully, Red learns a lesson about digivolving too much, right?"
"Don't count on it, Adrian; us Shoutmons are stubborn to the Digi-core," Shoutmon jested. "Him moreso than me, I gotta say! I feel like you should already know that by now, huh?"
"Heh, maybe," Adrian says as he sat down on his beach towel. He shifted through his bag and pulled out a New Nintendo 3DS XL. "Good thing this works in the Digital World. Video games are a good way for me to relax."
"Yeah, uhuh," Shoutmon yawned as he laid back against the palm tree, hands behind his head. "Nap time for me..."
