Was it ill-advised to have admitted her own side of the date being set up by someone else? After admitting to it, she didn't necessarily feel any better. Or any worse, honestly! Did it make Yomi feel bad? Sure, that would be kind of a rude thing to feel, considering, but who really knew with other people? All Elsie really knew was her sister! Other people -- especially dates -- could be so stressful!
At least, when someone makes it stressful by not being honest off-the-bat. Which was heavily Elsie's fault here!
Hearing Yomi's voice crack, regret began to set in. Yeah, she shouldn't have admitted it. Darn it! If only her Digimon forms were capable of reversing time or something. That would be perfect right now! Just rewind ten minutes into the past or something! Instead, they had things like Edward Scissorhand-fingers, and livewire cables. Maybe those were less ideal comparisons. The forms weren't terrible by any means, but Elsie was dreaming of a way to take back words, and they weren't able to help at all!
"Yeah," she admitted, trying to avoid shrugging. She had to remember that the gesture could seem dismissive, and that wouldn't be her intent! At this point, the blonde was probably just thinking too hard. Or too little? Elsie wasn't really sure anymore!
The idea of Evie finding Yomi attractive was an odd one, though! Giving a small snicker, this time, Elsie couldn't help but shrug. "She's got good taste, right?" Or, something like that! Who really knew what was going through Evie's head when she signed Elsie up for this date! How did she even decide who to pick? Was it looks? A well-crafted profile? It was hard to tell! "If she wasn't, like, super-straight, I might be worried that she wanted to go on a date with you, herself." If Elsie didn't know any better, she'd probably think that her 'super straight' sister might not be so straight!
However, she definitely knew better. At least neither of them had to worry about the other trying to steal their date, considering this branch in their 'interests'!
As far as why she showed up? Feeling Yomi tighten her hold, Elsie gave the hand a squeeze, trying to reassure her a bit somehow. Why did the German girl appear for her date? Politeness? Loneliness? Neither of those seemed like the right answer. For a moment, she had to consider. "Why wouldn't I?" Was that the wrong answer? Could a question really be an answer?
"I'd beat myself up if I didn't. A lot of, "what if's," and everything." "What if", indeed! Such as, what if Elsie would have just pretended she picked the date? "Like, Evie doesn't normally just set me up for dates in her spare time." Or, did she? Elsie didn't really know how long Evie worked for getting a date for her! "It's probably gonna sound really cheesy, but, what if we were supposed to meet, or something, you know?" Really cheesy? Oh yeah. It probably did! But, who could really deny that it was a weird situation, considering neither of them had picked their date?
Elsie wasn't really one to believe in destinies or fate, but who was she to challenge it, in the case that she really was supposed to meet Yomi for some reason or another?
Though, admittedly, she'd probably rather meeting with someone with dry clothes. Hopefully, that could be fixed soon enough!
