Even if Amelie had been in here before, it was surprising how benign was Whitewater's winter. Not even a single soul could be seen wearing long sleeves, unless that was part of their attire; the weather was so nice that the brunette felt a little bad at the occasional sight of a Taomon or Baalmon.
Eh, they probably were fine, anyway.
Today was one of her few free days in the Digital World, so distracting herself with those thoughts was probably out of place, anyway. Not to say, that today was also a very special day, at least for her; was it special for the boy she was walking with, hand by hand? Thus far, she couldn't really be sure of it.
Asher could be so enigmatic at times. Or maybe it was the fact that she was hopelessly bad at gauging his reactions or knowing what was in his mind? Probably, she was just that dense. In any case, the brunette didn't seem to be troubled by those doubts; in fact, she looked positively radiant. At the moment, she was wearing a very light, white summer outfit over a matching bikini.
And a pretty big hat. She loved those. "Can you believe it's been a year already? I can remember that last time as if it were yesterday." And, after a small pause, she added. "I can't believe I still remember the taste of that wasabi beer. I swear I'll never touch that thing again. Ever."
Avoiding a small giggle after her apparent disdain towards the experience was impossible for Amy. Even if falling for it could be a pitfall more often than not, reminiscing could be pretty satisfactory at times. "I'm glad things went as well as they did." Enough was enough, however. The past was in the past for a reason! "Think we'll have fun? I've never been on a double date."
In a sense, that was why this idea was so enticing! Even if that was a bit of an unnecessary question; whether the couple would have fun or not, that was something to be found out soon enough. It would take them less than five minutes to get to the beach, and an equal amount of time to find the tent the two couples had agreed to rent for the occasion.
Whether right on time, or a couple of minutes late, Asher and Amelie got there, a smile gracing the brunette's face as soon as she noticed that the other couple was already there. "Heeey~!" She waved at them with her free hand as they closed the gap. "Hope we didn't make you wait too much!"
If the names matched, they were supposed to be 'Lantis' and 'Leith'; the question was who is who, but that answer would surely come soon enough. "Pleased to meet you! My name's Amelie."
Finally breaking the grasp, the teenager sat in one of the many non-Leomon-sized chairs inside the tent. The sooner everyone made themselves comfortable, the sooner the conversation would begin!

By now, Lantis had hoped that Leith was secure enough in their relationship that he'd be comfortable enough to talk about it freely in front of strangers. Thankfully, it seemed to be agreed upon, that they could meet up with a couple of other humans on a beach near Whitewater. Lantis had to chuckle, it always seemed to be the beach with Leith, probably a consequence that was Lantis's fault, but, well, maybe he just enjoyed staying warm in winter? By the summer, he supposed he'd be likely to stick to Snowflake or about that area while in the digital world?
And thus, Lantis was seated next to Leith in the tent set up on the beach. where they were meant to meet up with a couple called Amelie and Asher. For now, no matter how much Lantis wanted to embrace his boyfriend and snuggle with him, he'd limit himself to merely sitting next to him while stroking his hand. Of course, when they first met up here, a greeting hug and a kiss would have been a priority, but, afterward, he simply wanted to get over this fear he had that somehow their relationship was taboo, that other humans and digimon would frown upon it. Lantis hoped that this double date might allow them to relax more about it. Or at least himself. The Leomon was aware that other digimon looked down on such things, but, still, he loved Leith as a person, and nothing would change that, even if a part of him was frightened about showing it in front of peers.
"Would you like some ice water, Leith?" Lantis offered, a cooler tank ready to dispense on the sand next to them under the tent. He knew Leith preferred plain refreshments rather than the stronger things. If so, he'd fetch a cup of it and serve it to him.
Lantis himself had dispensed with the usual heavy leather trousers and decided to match Leith's outfit of simple swimming trunks. The Leomon wore simple blue ones for the time being, with a hole in the back cut for his tufted tail. He had playfully mulled over some speedo's, but in the end decided against it.
Eventually, he heard a girl's voice nearby. Lantis turned and saw another couple approaching. "Ah, seems that's the other half of our party" he remarked, remaining standing as they approached, sipping his own ice water. "Hello there!" he called as they entered the beach tent as well. The girl introduced herself as Amelie. "Good to meet you. My name's Lantis, this is Leith" he said, sitting down on the chair next to his boyfriend.

If this was what Whitewater considered winter, Asher would never be able to find a complaint. With warm weather like this, the teen probably wouldn't mind spending literal weeks here! Alas, the trip was only for the day. Not that it wasn't a particularly special day, all the same!
As Amelie was soon to point out, it had been a year since their first date. It was weird to think! Time flies! "So, are you saying you don't want me to see if there's any wasabi beer around here?" Flashing a small grin, the redhead looked to his date. "Maybe it's one of those things that tastes better in other places?" No. Wasabi beer was going to taste like wasabi beer, no matter where it was ordered from! But, as long as they weren't going to try any other weird food-based dares today, things should go without any problems!
After all, Asher was still a little surprised that Amy hadn't walked out of their first date immediately after trying the beverage.
"I'm glad too," the teen finally responded, to give Amy at least some sort of positive response to her reminiscing. Raising his free hand, Asher would lightly tap the rim of the brunette's hat, as if threatening to pull it down in front of her face. But! He wouldn't actually place enough weight on it to shift it. He wasn't that mean, after all! "I'm sure it'll be fun," he reassured, "and if it's not, we'll make it fun!" That seemed like a good enough alternative. But, there wasn't much reason a double date like this would be hard to enjoy, right?
Worst case, maybe they could play frisbee with Amelie's hat! That would surely go over well!
Meanwhile, Asher's outfit was a lot less flashy, consisting of a black shirt and black and white board shorts. Then again, it seemed like the male wardrobe wasn't quite as 'nice' as women's! "You look pretty, by the way," he hummed, not wanting to ignore his date's appearance. Which, appearances weren't everything, but she seemed to enjoy the compliments!
But, now that they had approached the tent, it was time for introductions! Thankfully, with nobody involved wearing any speedos! Could Leomons even fit in a speedo? Asher didn't really want to know. "Hello," the redhead smiled, joining into the greetings. "I'm Asher," he added, after everyone else had been introduced, "nice to meet you both." Was it a little strange that Digimon and humans were dating? Maybe. Asher wasn't really sure the etiquette regarding such a subject! It had potential to be totally normal! So, it didn't seem like any reason to judge such a thing.
With Amy letting go of his hand, the teen took a seat next to her. Instead of jumping into some sort of conversation immediately, the redhead would give Leith a chance to say something first. Sure, the other human had been introduced already, but he hadn't actually been given much chance to talk yet! Then again, maybe there wasn't much to be said quite yet!

A double date? Normally not very outgoing, Leith might have surprised by thinking that was a great idea. As indifferent as he was about the opinions of others about certain aspects of the relationship, public displays of affection from anyone were typically something Leith didn't enjoy watching and, by extension, not something he tended to wanted to make others see. However, the off-season of the beach meant that the area, at least the area in reasonable sight of the couple, was practically desolate.
The fact that Lantis' fuzzy hand felt so nice and warm on his bare skin didn't hurt either.
"Yes, please." Next to Lantis, the 19-year-old looked like a dwarf even though he was average height and only a little below average weight. Curly brown hair was hanging down about an inch past his shoulders. As typical, his black and blue digivice was worn on his left wrist like a watch. Black open-toed sandals, plain black swim trunks, and a black Rise Against T-shirt contrasted a lot with his very fair skin, especially under such bright sunlight. Lucky the tent provided a little shade, else that skin might have been tomato-red. As it was, only his cheeks were red as waiting around with Lantis got him more and more relaxed. He was almost about to lean and lay his head on Lantis before-
"Oh- hi!" The young man stiffened right back up and dropped his water bottle on the towel they sat on (lid-on, fortunately). He stood up and greeted the other couple, "Amelie and... Ash? Asher, no, sorry." He tried to initiate a handshake with each of the others. "I'm... not the best with names. But I'll get it." The one difference in his usual appearance was that his black glasses were instead black swim goggles (with black lenses, of course) resting on his forehead. Just in case. After introductions he went and sat right back down beside Lantis.
"So, uh... start with an easy icebreaker?" he tried to initiate, "My partners are Veemon and Shoutmon. Vee's out with his 'little bunny bear' right now, though, and Shoutmon is... I dunno, probably getting wasted and starting fights."

Despite how much the thought of the opposite made itself present within her head, Amelie decided that any attempt at joking or even trying to make funny remarks about wasabi beer would be met with the most distilled and utter contempt the brunette could muster.
Basically, she looked like an angry puppy for three seconds or so.
No words were uttered. The redhead's defense of why the drink might actually not taste as bad this time around didn't deserve them. It was unbelievable how he managed to be borderline 'aggravating' at times, even though Amy suspected that a good deal of it was because he enjoyed watching her reactions. Like how her face turned borderline severe as soon as his hands began to act suspiciously around her hat, or at her final smile once the backup plan and that final compliment had been issued.
"Thanks. You don't look too bad yourself, either."
Sheesh. Why was he so good at pushing her buttons? In any case, better to not keep the other half of this gatherine waiting! Both Lantis and Leith seemed like fairly pleasant individuals, at least as far as first impressions went! Taking the smallest of moments to wonder if their own impression had been as good, she gave a gentle shake to Leith's hand and acknowledged Lantis' greeting before engaging into the previously mentioned sitting.
Given their newfound shade, and that the breeze was nothing short of lovely, Amelie decided to set her hat down before bringing out her Infini-Store. As her hands worked almost unconsciously on solving the innocuous item, blue eyes were set on Leith, her mind focused on the aforementioned's proposal and the following explanation. "Two partners?" The teenager questioned while raising an eyebrow, intrigued. "I haven't met a lot of people who can make that claim; that's very interesting! And sounds like the two are having their fair bit of fun at the moment, aren't they? Just hope Shoutmon knows the way back home after getting wasted."
A small, somewhat good-natured smirk made its way towards her face for a brief moment. "I don't have digimon partners; I get to hunt some strange spirits instead and evolve on my own. Not very glamorous, if you ask me! But I think that getting to experience this world is worth it, no matter how weird the method might be."
Amy's eyes slowly danced in the Leomon's direction. "What about you, Lantis? Are you on your own, or maybe you are partnered to a human?"
Shortly after that question, the puzzle was finally solved. Reaching into her Infini-Store, the brunette brought out a small, orange-colored bottle, which was promptly offered to Asher. "Can you rub some on my back? Plee~ase?"
The fact that it was sunscreen was rather obvious; if the young adult accepted, she'd just take off the upper part of her outfit, leaving only the bikini top and exposing most of her back for the redhead to do his job.

Lantis certainly was no stranger to speedos, although he preferred to only wear them with Leith in audience. And even then, wasn't like he would wear them for very long. Still, not thinking about things like that, Lantis would fetch iced water for both him and Leith before the others appeared. The Leomon was glad to see the other two show up.
"Hello, Asher" Lantis would say, the Leomon's tail poking out from behind his chair, flicking in the crisp seabreeze that blew through the tent. Supposing they were all introduced now, he listened to what they had to say.
Lantis knew very well who Veemon was out with right now, and hearing Leith call Luke a 'little bunny bear' made him almost snort out the ice water through his nose as he burst into laughter. Oh man, he pictured the look on Luke's face if he found out he was called that. Not that Lan would tell.
What Amelie said interested Lantis. "Ah, you're a spirit wielder?" he asked, intrigued. "How interesting! I haven't met many of you but I've heard a few things about you". At first he had been a little unsettled about the idea of fallen digimon having their souls be used by humans to fight in their stead, but, the more he heard that this was in fact a mutually consensual arrangement, he was more comfortable with it.
Amelie then asked him a question, and so Lantis supposed it would be polite to talk about his partner as well. "My partner's a young lady named Sophie James. She's the head of AEGIS, if you've heard of them. At the moment she's doing what she can to protect Tokyo from threats from the digital world..." he broke off there, supposing that it would be kinda tasteless to verbally describe how bitter she was that her digimon partner had better luck with men than she had.
Then Amelie asked Asher if he could rub some sunscreen lotion onto her back. Lantis's blue eyes widened, then he looked at Leith. Of course! How could he have been so foolish?! Humans didn't do well in the sun without lotions like this! Oh, gosh, thankfully they were under the tent, if they weren't, Leith would probably have been cooked as red as Luke.
"Ah... right, that reminds me... would you like some lotion on you too, Leith?" Lantis offered. "I believe my fur protects me enough, so I don't think it'd be needed on me, so, I'm offering you just in case" he would say.

Asher seemed completely unfazed by the error in his name, as Leith joined into the introductions! "You were close," he shrugged it off, with a smile. Two letters, right? While the redhead wasn't really a fan of his name being shortened, he wasn't going to fault a stranger for missing a part of it! As long as it didn't become a repeated thing, at least!
And, he even went straight to some ice-breakers! "Two partners sounds like a handful," he commented. Imagine, two Whiskers! That would be twice as many obnoxious requests to open cans of tuna at three in the morning! It sounded like the twins were a bit more 'mature' than Whiskers might be, though. Which could be advantageous! Or, the exact opposite.
Then again, was it also a hassle when someone's partner was dating a human? After hearing Sophie's name, Asher had to briefly wonder how she'd feel about the Leomon having another 'human partner' so-to-say. "Oh yeah," he hummed, as if something clicked into place. "How's Sophie doing?" Chances of Sophie actually remembering Asher felt pretty slim, considering how long ago it had been! But, Asher was pretty sure that he remembered what she looked like! Not so much Lantis, however. He had been a bit smaller when they'd first met, after all!
"I'm a spirit wielder, also," the redhead added to the introductions. Go figure that two spirit users were dating! "But, I have a Meicoomon that lives with me. So it's almost like having a partner." Sort of. "Minus the part where she needs a digivice to change form." Was there much else that was missing from the partnership, beyond that 'formality'? It was hard to say. The way that Whiskers acted, sometimes, it almost felt like she was more of a partnered Digimon than a solitary one! But, maybe she just liked being around other people.
Not that he'd really go into these details aloud, though! Not with Amy's latest request! Absent-mindedly taking the bottle, Asher would stare at the girl for a moment, with an expression that seemed to shift between 'mildly confused' and 'waiting for the punchline.' But, just as he was about to open his mouth, Lantis spoke up about Leith needing some also.
This was totally normal. Yes. Completely. A lion man offering to apply sunscreen to his boyfriend, because Amy was ridiculous. Was she starting a trend now? Though, Asher had to suspect that everyone involved was glad that Lantis didn't want anyone to apply sunscreen to him! If wet fur smelled bad, lotion-soaked fur probably wasn't too much better! And Leith would be covered in potential shedding fur if he tried to apply it! If Leomons could shed, that was.
Either way! After a roll of the eyes and a 'dramatic' sigh, Asher would open the bottle, and pour some into his hand. For a moment, it was tempting to just directly pour the cold sunscreen onto Amy's skin, for a sort of revenge! But, once the girl's outfit was adjusted, he'd carefully begin rubbing the product into her skin, leaning in to add a very important statement. "I hope you know that you're ridiculous sometimes."
Asher wasn't going to lie, he was almost hoping that Leith would accept, just so that he wasn't the only one stuck with sunblock duty! Then, at least it would feel a little more normal of a situation!

Spirit users? Oh, boy. Now those just made the poor young man's head hurt. Could they be called either digimon or human? Leith only ever met one spirit before, with whom he was amicable but not overly close. Amelie and Asher made a very good observation about Leith's twin terrors, though. "Veemon - well, he's usually Flamedramon now. He doesn't worry me. He's the good one. If anything he's usually keeping the rest of us out of trouble." Leith began to frown at the next thought in his head: "Which means... I am very, very worried about Shoutmon right now."
Leith's eyes bulged as Amelie so brazenly fabricated a thin excuse to get Asher's hands all over... right in front of the other two, no less! "Are you actually-?" he began to ask before biting his tongue. Maybe, he thought, it was a bit rude to scold them even if trying to be subtle about it. Besides, at least Asher was also visibly self-conscious about it without any help from Leith. Apparently that didn't stop them, though. And it didn't stop Lantis from trying to pull the same thing either! The ball in his court, Leith initially bit his lip, reserved and shy as Lantis probably expected. ...Maybe the social rules are a bit looser right now. Besides, it's a date, right? With other people, yeah, but... still a date. And they don't seem too bothered. That was the thinking that led Leith to accept, "Would you please?"
After he lost his shirt he let the digivice's Infinity-store plugin suck it in through the screen. Unlike Amelie, though, he did not lay flat but instead turned away from Lantis and knelt, his bottom on his heels. Lying down prone was a position he just wasn't quite willing to put himself in in front of other people, it seemed. Besides... he didn't know if he could trust Lantis not to get any funny ideas. He didn't think about Lantis shedding like Asher had, not too worried about it. Worst-case? The ocean was still right over there, and the young man was dressed for the occasion.
Unfortunately, this was about the point where his conversationalist skills came to an end. While he waited for Lantis to tend to him, he tried to rather bluntly plead from the others of the group, "...Well, I'm out of topics. What do you guys wanna talk about?"

First impressions? Lantis and Leith seemed like a nice duo, even if... maybe a bit on the uptight side, but that was to be expected when privately meeting with two strangers. As much as she wanted to provide words of encouragement regarding how Shoutmon's day would go, the fact remained that his tamer probably knew him better than anyone present, so... better to not to talk too much about that and just hope he'd make it out of the day alive.
Instead, the brunette focused on Lantis' words. Those were a bit easier to respond to! "AEGIS, huh? I've heard from them; it's comforting to know there are good people working for everyone's safety." A small smile crept towards her face. "But I really hope she's taking it easy today. Believe me when I say that working nonstop and not taking a day off every now and then isn't among the best policies. Working for the government doesn't mean she can't devote days like this one for their intended purpose, right?"
It was fairly easy to understand the implications of Amy's words. She wouldn't spell it out because that wasn't fun, but still! "I hope I get to meet Shoutmon, Sophie, and Veemon at some point! It'd get a bit crowded, but I think we'd have fun." A bit bold of her to say something like that this early into the date, but that was just she felt. Maybe she was just naturally friendly? Hopefully, that wouldn't be intimidating!
As demonstrated by her actions, the brunette preferred a relaxed atmosphere over the opposite; managing a construction project made her despise most kind of formalities in settings not meant for them, which led to her small, not-so-innocent gesture. Was it really fit for that to cause the small commotion that it had? Being honest to herself, the brunette was at a bit of a loss regarding it.
At least at first. Her friendly smile turned into a bit of smirk as Asher leaned in to call her out. "What's ridiculous about it?" To say that she was faking innocence was the understatement of the year. "Maybe not for most boys, but skincare is a big deal for girls, and I'm very glad Leith understands that as well! I bet you would be the first person to laugh at me if I ended up looking like a boiled lobster because I got sunburnt."
Only after a small pause for dramatic effect, the teenager spoke again. "In fact, I challenge you to say you wouldn't, with Leith and Lantis as witnesses."
Some playfulness wouldn't hurt, right? However, the fact remained that this was a double date, and Leith's own comment made a good job at reminding Amy just that. Gazing once again at the couple, her teasing expression receded. "If you don't mind recounting it, how did you meet? Or share any exciting adventures you had together! Thus far, the experiences of every person I have met in this world have been super different and fascinating on their own right. I've even considered compiling them in a series of short stories; I think it'd be interesting!"
That one could get quite expansive, but it wasn't like that was really a bad thing.

Lantis gave an awkward sort of grin at Asher. It had been so long since they had last met, but he was glad they were familiar at least. "Sophie's doing fine thanks. Lot on her plate, but, she's mostly getting by".
In truth, Lantis was a little bit worried about the load Sophie was taking on. Not only was she the boss of at least three dozen people, she also was being active in research into the physics and lore of the digital world. She was trying to familiarize herself with the makeup and nature of digimon so that she could be more effective in future with that knowledge. Lantis was worried that it was all getting a little too much for her, that she might be close to breaking point, but he didn't want to lower the mood in speaking those worries out loud.
The Leomon was a little fascinated at the fact that their 'double-date' was with two spirit wielders. This was most unique to him, particularly because both he and Leith were both sides of the Tamer coin. Maybe he could learn something today about them too?
Leith appeared to be worried about how Shoutmon was faring this night. The Leomon could understand why. Even though he had only known him for one night, Shoutmon had something of a rather... volatile personality to say the least. He hoped he was having a good night though. Meanwhile Lantis knew Luke, and with that knowledge he could tell that Flamedramon was probably having a good night too. And then Sophie... he sighed. She really needed a break from her job.
Amelie seemed to agree. "Yep... although technically she doesn't work for the government. Sophie's an American citizen after all, so AEGIS is more of a private enterprise currently" Lantis explained. "It's all funded through arrangements thanks to her grandmother, who is a natural citizen and something of a business socialite in Shibuya. But I agree... Sophie does work a little hard these days". He hoped that that could change sometime. He smiled at the prospect of all of them and their partners meeting each other, that would hopefully be nice.
All thoughts were distracted when Leith consented for Lantis to apply the sun lotion. The Leomon smiled, then waited patiently for his boyfriend to get comfortable. Lantis understood how he could be in public situations, and he would not ask him to go any further than he was okay with. When Leith was in position, Lantis would squirt the sunscreen on his back for a few seconds before gently rubbing it in, seated on the sand behind him. The Leomon kept the air of a professional yet gentle masseuse, not rubbing too hard, and ensuring that Leith remained comfortable and at ease as the lotion was rubbed into his skin. He'd methodically apply it to his back and shoulders for now.
While Lantis got into the rhythm, chuckling a little with Amelie and Asher's interactions, Amelie then asked how they had come to meet. The night was still fresh in Lantis's mind. He looked out to the sea as he remembered, still putting the lotion on Leith where he would accept.
"Funny thing actually..." he admitted. "It happened a few months ago. Both Sophie and Colin- oh, Colin's Sophie's little brother by the way, he's got twin partners as well - Luke the Elecmon and Bellamy the Impmon. Anyway, while they were sick, they couldn't go adventuring to the digital world, but they gave us permission to have a night on the town out in Whitewater. There we all met, introduced each other, then Shoutmon joked that Leith... didn't mind the physical appearance of digimon. I said that I didn't mind that, and... that's when a little spark formed".
Lantis hoped he wasn't being too crass with all this. But he continued to speak from the heart.
"As the night went on... I found out the more I came to know Leith, the more I liked him" he would continue, gently caressing what remained of the lotion into what he hoped was the ultimate shield from sunburn. "He's a talented musician... a cute human with a personality I've come to adore... we were both kinda nervous to start with, but... I've come to love him".
Lantis had meant to say 'really like' instead of 'love', then blushed as the words came out as they did. But he didn't think that was a lie either, so he didn't correct himself. Especially when Sophie had said that she was fine with him forming such a relationship with another human. And that was fine. He and Sophie had a different bond altogether. The bond Lantis had with Leith was not related to digivolutions and the like. But something of a different nature, that they seemed to both be fine with.

'Mostly' getting by sounded a little sketchy! But, Asher decided not to inquire too much further on it. After all, this was a double date! Not an interrogation on someone who wasn't even here! "Not sure if there's much I can do to help, but if she needs anything, you're free to send me a message." On Tamernet, that was! As far as Asher could remember, no proper phone numbers were exchanged during their short experience last! And if they were, he was certainly drawing a blank on any 'Sophie' being written in his phone. As far as Lantis, Asher wasn't even sure if the lion had a cell phone. So, he wasn't even going to debate that part!
Luckily, Leith wouldn't continue on his call-out for such a public display of... sunscreen! Probably in part because Lantis was all over the idea of skin protection! But, applying sunscreen wasn't the only 'challenge' the redhead was going to face. The actor easily put a sweet smile on his face, leaning in to rub lotion onto Amy's shoulders. "I would never make fun of how you look." A pretty sincere statement, if he did say so, himself! At least, until the smile widened a bit, "I would make fun of how much you'd complain about looking like a lobster, though." Couldn't get too mushy in the romance here, after all!
And, to add emphasis to his lack of maintaining that sincere, loving tone, he'd reach around and tap a lotion-dotted finger onto Amy's nose, with full intent of leaving a little imprint of the product there! "You're just lucky that I'm actually putting it on you, and not drawing pictures on your back." Oh god, had that thought ever crossed Amy's mind? Maybe, she knew Asher wouldn't be that mean!
Finishing applying lotion to his date's back, Asher would slide the bottle into Amy's hands while listening to Lantis tell the story of how he found love. It was actually something that the redhead had wanted to ask too, but Amy definitely had a more tactful approach to the question! "Sounds like something from a romance novel." Not that, uh, Asher ever read romance or anything! But, it definitely sounded like a decent book!
A movie would probably butcher that plotline.
But, any good story needed multiple chances to fluster the cast! For comedy! Or growth, or something. So, yellow eyes would return to Leith, making sure to keep the other young man in the conversation. "Since you're a musician, have you made Lantis any love songs?" Hopefully, between asking about serenades, and Lantis sort of saying he loved Leith, it wouldn't be too much embarrassment for the seemingly-more-reserved participant of the double-date!

"They're fun," Leith agreed with Amelie. But a moment later he felt the need to slip in an addendum: "...in their own ways." What he decided not to say explicitly, at least for the moment, was that Veemon was able to enjoy more wholesome fun while it seemed Shoutmon needed absurdly loud music and/or risk to person or property to consider himself entertained.
But then Amelie tried to pass off her earlier request as nothing more than concern about sunburn. Well, this metalhead wasn't having any of that! He could only scoff and roll his eyes at Amelie's insincere attempt to disguise blatantly luring her boyfriend into putting his hands all over her. Of course, he couldn't be too angry about it; that gesture gave himself and Lantis both leave to get a little more personal, too. Heck, she even prompted him to go giving some of those mushy compliments of his. Now that was something he had to admire about Lantis: the lion wasn't playing things nearly as close to the chest as Leith himself tended to.
That all wasn't crass at all. Leith thought it was sweet enough to make the young man's cheeks turn red as if sunburnt (but not). "Yeah. My asshole of a partner went and outed me the very first chance he got. Didn't ask, didn't think, didn't care." Despite the angry language, the young man was speaking with a soft tone and slight smile. "Lucky me. Still, don't ever tell him a secret. But since he's not here..." Despite his normally closed-off nature, Lantis' talk and the overall atmosphere were helping him lose some of his less rational inhibitions. For example, that last bit of doting made Leith, still kneeling before Lantis, want to tilt his head back, reach behind Lantis', and try and pull the digimon down for a quick little kiss. Normally that was the sort of affection saved for behind four walls, but this time he went and did it. Once his mouth was free he went on, "Lantis here's been keeping home safe and sound, and damnit if you can't make me smile whether I want to or not. I love him, too."
Leith felt extremely perosnally self-conscious after that, then. Was this double date getting a bit too personal with strangers? Was he neglecting them too much for too long, or would he be neglecting his proper boyfriend too much by not favoring him? In any case, Amelie had already given Leith an out from those thoughts, something once again everyone could relate to. There was only one problem with it: the honest answer. "Hmm... we've traveled a bit for dates and such, but we haven't really gotten into any of that sort of Tamer trouble you'd think of, y'know? Not that I'm whining." Leith's smile didn't completely fall, but it did become a bit less wide. "I think I've had my fill of the adventurer lifestyle. Seems like they might live happy lives, but I don't think I'm very willing to risk mine. Turns out the books make it look way more fun than it is. Now I just wanna play my music and... I dunno. Maybe try to go home some day."
Was that last bit too vague, therefore concerning? Was it too personal for strangers? Again, Leith had an out from the other couple, this time Asher. His smile came right back when asked about love songs because, well... the question was hilarious to him. "You're not a metalhead, are you, Asher?" he asked with a smirk, "It ain't impossible, but those two don't go so well together most times. Still- well, it's not exactly a love song, but a... tribute?" Uh-oh. He was gonna do it. He was gonna sing. He had found the excuse to belt it now.
"Driven by courage inherent within, Noble defender, 'hind blade of the paladin, Heart of a lion in soldier of stone, Richard of England, good king, the hero is reborn."

It was a good thing to hear Sophie was doing well; despite Amelie not knowing her, she seemed like a nice person, and the head of an organization that ultimately was born to keep everyone in Japan safe from harmful, digital world-based influences. A commendable career path, and definitely one worthy of admiration.
But, talking about work while having a date would undoubtedly result in a less-than-optimal atmosphere, the brunette reckoned. There were far more pleasant topics, like the prospect of a joint meeting with everyone's partners included, or... how Asher seemed on top of his game today; like always, he managed to make her blush and annoy her at the same time!
"Isn't that the same thing? I'll end up looking like a lobster and you'll end up laughing at it, even if indirectly!" She threatened to puff her cheeks just like the last time, but she realized in a timely manner... that he wouldn't see her face considering his current position. What a shame.
What could she do, then? The threat of pictures being drawn in her own back was utterly mortifying not. Poking the teenager's nose with sunscreen, however...? The straw that broke the camel's back; this was war. Once the lotion had been handed back at her, the brunette quickly stored it then turned her head to gaze back at her date with a look that could only herald her intent from that instant onward. Maybe not now, maybe not during this date, even. But someday, at some point... she'd have her revenge.
For now, she wouldn't ruin Lantis' tale on how his and Leith's first meeting had gone. It was funny to see how the lion man retold his story while rubbing sunscreen on his boyfriend's back. Without threats regarding doodling on said back.
What could she say? Maybe Amy was a bit hopeless, but she couldn't avoid staring, starry-eyed at the unfolding conclusion. "That is so~ romantic!" She mused, her words being completely genuine. "It almost sounds like a movie romance. It makes me happy to see you two could find each other. It may be too soon, but I think you make a really cute couple."
Was Amelie feeling a bit envious at the moment? Nah, not at all; but it wasn't like she wouldn't do something about the situation. "I think that the way each person experiences the Digital World is up to them. Some want to feel the thrill each new adventure brings, while others just want a peaceful lifestyle among their new acquaintances or friends." As far as the brunette was aware, there was no 'correct' way to do it.
While Leith got ready to sing, suddenly, yet in a soft motion, Amy stood up, her feet carrying her right behind where Asher was seated. Slowly, her body lowered until he enveloped the redhead in a seemingly tender hug from behind. Would Asher feel at ease with such a gesture? Would he be able to perceive the underlying intention behind it? He was the only one who could answer those questions.
"Want a drink? I've brought a fair bit." She whispered, her tone even more mellow than usual. Whether the response was positive or negative, the teenager would wait until Leith finished singing, clap at the display with enthusiasm, and only then act upon the answer to her question.
"That was quite good, Leith! There's some real talent behind that voice and your lyrics." By now, Amelie would be back on her initial position behind Asher, except that this time, her own head would be resting on one of the redhead's shoulders. Once they were ready to move on, a small smile would grace the girl's face.
"So... have you two thought about having kids?" Slowly and progressively, that smile widened. "I'm a bit unsure about it myself, but Asher over here told me he wouldn't settle with less than three, and was curious on if you two have talked about it. Any pointers you could give me? I may be exaggerating, but the whole deal is a bit... overwhelming, to say the least. I don't really know where to begin."
A quick peck on the redhead's cheek sealed the deal. They were even now.

Lantis gave a coy little grin at Asher. "No offense, but, you seem to be rather besotted to Amelie here, and probably not the best person to provide her with what she needs perhaps... I think she would get the most help from someone single". He thought that was a little harsh to say though, so decided to go a little easier. "If you know anyone that might be of help though, I'd be honestly grateful. I mean... an immediate match is probably too much out of the question, but, a guy your age who could look after her, who she could depend upon, and above all, she sees as her equal, if you know anyone like that, I reckon Sophie would appreciate that". Yes, Lantis was matchmaking a little here, but he knew Sophie's loneliness. He wanted to help her in that regard.
Lantis made sure to be silent for a little while here as he rubbed Leith around for a bit. He could guess how awkward it would be for him as a digimon to speak so caringly about his digivolution partner in front of his companionship partner. He hoped there would be space to grow in this area though, so they could learn their comfort boundaries. Of course, Lantis had Sophie, and Leith had Veemon and Shoutmon. Their relationships were different, but the Leomon had yet to determine when was the right time to speak about them. Man this was kind of complicated.
The Leomon was delighted at Leith's gesture, leaning forward and lowering his muzzle to give him a warm albeit upside-down kiss, Lantis careful to keep him comfortable. It felt a little funny, but as long as it didn't strain either of them, he gave a little purr of happiness as their lips parted.
Any adventures? Not yet. Lantis nodded at Leith's answer. "Indeed. Perhaps that's for the best? Not that I wouldn't like it, but, I would hate for him to fall into any kind of danger..." he stopped rubbing the lotion for a moment as the thought crossed his mind, clenching his fists. If anyone tried to harm Leith in front of him... well, best not dwell on those thoughts. He took a deep breath to calm himself and resumed the gentle massage.
Lantis didn't know everything about Leith's home situation, but, he knew enough to know it wasn't amicable. "If you need my help for anything at all with your home, my love, I'll do it" he promised. While maybe not in the form he was in now, he still had a holosuit, one that could cast a rather strong presence if he meant to make it. Or if not him, he could ask Sophie to help as well. Chalk it down as a favour? Well, best not dwell on things like that he supposed.
Then Asher asked if Leith had made any love songs for Lantis. The Leomon blushed through his tawny fur, but, he would be really happy if his boyfriend did. And to his delight, he did! Lantis almost squee'd with happiness as Leith sung the verse about him.
"Oh Leith you are just a delight!" Lantis declared, hugging him gently, offering another kiss if he wanted.
Then Amelie asked another question, one that made Lantis's blue eyes widen a little with surprise.
"K-kids...?" he asked, blushing once more. "You mean... like Bellamy's kids?" oh wait, they were digimon and human, and both male at that, they couldn't do that, so he assumed Amelie meant adoption. Lantis gave an awkward glance down at Leith, he didn't seem to be the type that would go for that kind of thing. "W-well... uh, I admit I haven't given that any thought to be honest." he finished evasively. If Leith had anything to say on it, it would determine how he would continue down this line of conversation.

For a second, there was a bit of confusion at Lantis' words, but Asher was quick to lean toward Amy, putting an arm around her unless she protested. "Not quite what I was offering help on, but if I find someone, I'll let you know." Asher wasn't dumb enough to try to play that into a big joke! Especially with his date right next to him! Was Amy the jealous type? Hopefully, Lantis didn't accidentally start anything! He definitely wasn't wrong about Asher obviously having strong interest in Amy, though! If it wasn't too cheesy, he'd surely have found some line to talk about how much he liked her!
But, there were times and places for being 'too cheesy', and a better opportunity came up with their discussion on lobsters! "But! If you were sunburnt, I could have a new 'pet name' for you!" There was no hiding the grin that was creeping across his lips, "you could be my 'little lobster.' Wouldn't that be cute?" Oh god, no. It was almost painful to even call Amy that as a hypothetical!
Now he could only hope she didn't get sunburnt.
Trying to ignore his own terrible nickname, the redhead listened to the story unfold of two unlikely lovers meeting. Considering that Asher wasn't quite the romantic that Amelie was, he was more than content to let her do all the fawning over the tale. He wouldn't question how well Lantis would integrate into the dream of Leith going home. But, with holosuits and people generally being pretty accepting, maybe there wouldn't be any issue!
But, was Asher a metalhead? He certainly didn't suit the look. "Not really," he admitted, with a smile as Leith continued to mention his tribute. Close enough to a love song, darn it! Feeling Amy wrapping herself around him, the teen shifted to place a hand on her arm. Was there a reason to suspect ulterior motives? Either out of forgetfulness or ignorance of the look shot at him earlier, he didn't seem any wiser. It wasn't like there could be anything malicious about offering a drink! Right? "Sure," he'd respond, quietly, to avoid potentially interrupting the beginning of Leith's song.
Once Amelie had given him a drink, and Leith a compliment, the redhead would do so also! "That was really good," he agreed, before taking a drink of whatever his date had given him. Should it be concerning that he had no idea what she actually was offering? Nah. It'd be fine.
Just like it'd be fine when she dropped a bomb about kids. There was a small cough as the spirit user attempted not to choke on the beverage, tilting his head to try to look at Amy without disturbing how she had positioned herself. "I mean, we can always stop at three, if you want," he started, fairly serious-toned, "I know I really wanted closer to six, but three could work too." Did Asher even want kids? No. Not really. Those things were terrifying.
But, he wasn't going to let Amy get too much satisfaction out of this conversation!
Maybe she'd get even better reactions out of Leith and Lantis! Though, the lionman was avoiding giving a very satisfying answer, if that was the case! "Big families sound like so much fun, though," the actor cheerfully commented, at the lion's uncertainty. No they didn't. Big families sounded loud. But, who knew what Leith thought about the whole thing? Or how a Digimon and a human planned on gathering babies? Would they adopt little Digimon? Little humans? Both?
No better time to find out than the present, it seemed!
