CHAPTER I: FAMILY It was a cold morning, even a little colder than usual for Terabyte Mountain. As he used to do any other morning, Zaiden, the Raijinmon, walked around the surface of the mountain. The need to stretch his legs every day was probably linked to the fact of knowing he couldn't leave that peek.
His gaze caught sight of two eggs, laying under a tree, half covered from the snowstorm that had struck the mountain last night. One of them had a yellow-thunder pattern, while the other had an odd, erratic gray design. At first, he was somewhat dubious. It was probably not a good idea to take them home, given his condition. But... If he left them out there, the babies would probably die just after being born.
"How in the sparkly world did you two end up here?" He asked, knowing his questions wouldn't be answered by anyone.
With the idea of taking them home just until they were ready to take care of themselves, the Raijinmon put each of them under his arms and headed back into the temple that he inhabited.
For better or for worse, Zaiden was not able to abide by his first intentions. After they were born and while they grew up, even if he tried to not get too attached to them, even if he tried to convince himself that they would eventually leave, he was unable to comply to this. He had been alone for so long, he felt the urge to take care of them, to keep them close.
Pike, because he was sharp as one of those infantry weapon he had once read about in an old human book he had found.
Ramma, because he was sturdy as a Battery Ram, the medieval weapon Zaiden had also read about, in that same book.
Even if they didn't come out of the same egg, there was no doubt they were brothers, sons of the same father, Zaiden. It didn't take long for the three of them to become an inseparable family.
Three years of hard training had passed and the once babies had become a Champion and Ultimate level Digimon, respectively. Pike the Thunderballmom and Ramma the Mamemon. The inseparable trio, father and two sons, slept together, ate together and trained together every day. Zaiden was now convinced they wouldn’t leave and he was even starting to think they could remain together for a long, long time. Even, maybe, forever. If this was the case, this could mean these two digimon could be the successors he had been looking for during years. Maybe they were the ones who should inherit his mission.
Both Pike and Ramma tried to question Zaiden about why did he live alone by himself in Terabyte Mountain. The temple they inhabited and trained at was beautiful, but it was definitely an oddity that the Raijinmon had decided to live there by himself. Even if their father didn’t seem too willing to talk about it, he confessed he was taking care of an ancient artifact that belonged to his family. One that held great power, and had to be protected from an evil force that wanted it. He did say, however, that if they were lucky, they wouldn't need to know further than this.
Zaiden also confessed he had changed the proprietary of a bank account he formerly owned in Terminus. It now belonged to the brothers. The account had a great amount of money that they could use as they wished, in case they needed it.
It could be said that, somehow, Zaiden was preparing everything in case a terrible outcome took place. He was making sure the brothers were ready to face their destiny in case the fateful day where he had to leave this world came.
And, in fact, that day arrived.

CHAPTER II: SEPARATION “Father!” Pike and Ramma rushed to the main hall of the temple after hearing a loud crash, only to find Zaiden facing an unknown digimon. The energy that surrounded this creature was purely overwhelming.
“Pike, Ramma! Stay back, please.” The Raijinmon shouted. Both digimon decided to stay by the door, staring at the scene develop. It didn’t take them long to know this was that digimon their father was hiding from. This was that evil force that was looking for the artifact Zaiden was guarding.
“Who are these, Zaiden?” The digimon facing Zaiden turned his gaze towards Pike and Ramma. He was a Funjimon, with a cold, deep voice. “I didn’t know you had company during all of this time.”
“That’s none of your business, Hermes. Leave them out of this.” Zaiden answered. He sounded dead-serious and even angry. A sepulchral silence invaded the room.
The shadow of a creature appeared right behind the two digimon, as swiftly as silently.
"No!" It was Zaiden’s shout that made the duo react and actually notice they were at danger. A Zamielmon had appeared right behind them. Before they could even react to this, the creature detached two arrows, one from each of his shoulders. He stung each ball-like digimon with one of these. Both Pike and Ramma tried to toss a technique at him, but he extended both legs, sending them jutted against a wall of the hall with two mighty kicks. The Zamielmon managed to detach each arrow off them before they were propelled away.
It was clear Zaiden didn’t expect Hermes to have come with company. The distraction caused by this surprise attack on his sons made him an easy target for a slicing burst of wind Hermes shot at him, sending him back.
The Zamielmon checked the tip of both arrows that he had just stuck into Ramma and Pike’s bodies. He slid his index finger by the two of them. “They’re not good, Hermes.” He declared, his eyes shifting towards the Fujinmon for a second. “We can still use these samples on the Digital Breeder, to test them out.”
“That will work." The Funjimon answered, nonchalantly. "However, we do need my brother's data.” Hermes started walking slowly towards a wounded Zaiden. “W-What did you do to them, Hermes!?” The Rajinmon asked. “You should know by now. I’m getting samples to use on the Digital Breeder I'm about to take from you.”
“H-He said... brother?” A very wounded Pike managed to reincorporate, slowly. Was this creature his father’s sibling? The reveal was as shocking as strange. The Thunderballmon couldn’t even start to process this revelation. He felt like the strength of his body was vanishing. His sight was getting clouded and he had trouble remaining on his feet. He tried to turn towards his brother Ramma, only to see the Mamemon starting to fall unconscious too. His eyes then went to Zaiden, his father. Little did he know that was the last time he would see him.
A blast of electricity surrounded Zaiden’s hand. He pointed it towards his sons and, with the other hand, waved goodbye at them.
The last thing the brothers felt was… electricity. Going through their bodies. It felt as if their data was being disintegrated and moved away. The attack was coming from Zaiden himself, who seemed to be teleporting them somewhere else.

CHAPTER III: QUESTIONS When the duo woke up, they found themselves at the foot of Terabyte Mountain. They looked different. They felt different. Their appearance had changed as if their core data had been modified. Ramma’s eyes were bigger and a flame-like design was painted across his gloves and body. Pike’s eyes were also bigger, his boots had acquired metallic assemblies and straps were tied to his back. They spent days going up the mountain to get back at the temple, only to find it was destroyed. Zaiden was nowhere to be found and the artifact their father was guarding was gone.
Trying to look for clues, the brothers traveled to Terminus, in order to check that bank account their father had left for them. On their way there, they’d find out they had turned into the X-Antibody version of their own species, according to what people said upon looking at them. The reason was unknown to them, and it didn’t really matter. Their minds were set in finding out what happened to their father.
Once they got to Terminus, the duo would find out Zaiden had left a bigger inheritance than a simple bank account full of millions and millions of bits. He had left them a house on Terminus too.
“Is anyone home?” Ramma asked, closing the door behind him, once both he and Pike had entered. The place looked like it had been abandoned for years. At first, it looked like a small, simple house. It didn’t take long for them to find out it had a hatch attached to the ground, that seemed to lead to an underground level. The duo went down the ladder only to find a truly huge underground facility.
“What… is this?” Pike’s jaw was about to hit the floor. So many questions were racing through the duo’s heads it was even hard to list them. The place was truly gigantic. It had at least 25 bedrooms (bathrooms included on each), a huge kitchen, a dining hall, and a massive research lab. There, all types of devices could be found, all around a giant central computer. Right at the central screen, a message could be read.
‘Press any key to play the message’
Ramma approached a giant keyboard in front of the computer and pressed the key that looked most appealing to him. Luckily, it worked. The image that appeared on the screen shocked both brothers. It was Zaiden. The quality of the video wasn't very good, even to the point of it looking plagued by static.
The Raijinmon cleared his throat before starting his speech.
“Hi there. If you’re listening to this, it probably means I’m dead. Huh. That’s definitely a sparkly outcome huh?” He chuckled, loudly. As he used to do when they had fun at lunch or training back at the temple. “I can’t say I have anyone on mind right now regarding who’s going to help me stopping Hermes, so I guess I don’t know you at the moment I recorded this message. I hope we had a good time while I was alive.” He added.

CHAPTER IV: ANSWERS Even if the moment was very emotional, Pike and Ramma were still listening closely to their father’s message. He had mentioned the name ‘Hermes’. They immediately related this name to the guy who led the attack back at the temple.
“Since I don’t know how much you know about all of this, I should tell you the whole story, just in case.” The Raijinmon seemed like he was about to explain something very important. “My name is Zaiden. I’m the first son of Zoka. You probably don’t know who that is. I’m not too sure either, honestly.” He snickered. “All I know is he was this mighty warrior who doomed the world by creating something extremely dangerous: The Digital Breeder.” Another name that rang a bell for the duo.
“The Digital Breeder is an artifact capable of replicating digital life-forms out of bits of data that you can extract from digimon. In other words, it can sort of… clone digimon through pieces of their data. By this point, I should mention I have two brothers, sons of Zoka too. The one that’s important to this story I'm telling you is Hermes, the Funjinmon.” He made a pause before continuing. “Hermes is an extremely powerful digimon. I would say he’s even stronger than me right now, even if I’m attempting to turn the tables. Hermes wants to use the Digital Breeder our father left for us to create the perfect digimon. An immortal creature that will give him endless amounts of power. He tried to make me collaborate with him in this plan, but I believe it’s extremely dangerous to try to play god. Furthermore, I know Hermes is dangerous and his intentions are not good.”
“According to an ancient piece of writing my dad left to us, in order to create the perfect digimon, Hermes needs to recollect the data of one X-00 digimon from each family. By family, I mean ‘Virus Busters’, ‘Wind Guardians’ and any of the sorts. By an X-00 digimon I mean a special type of digimon belonging to each of those families. It is said X-00 digimon have a special data composition that allows them to open an internal door and awaken an amazing amount of power. Not even them are aware of what they’re capable of reaching. If all of this sounds too complicated, don’t worry, I’ll leave a file explaining this a bit better inside of this computer. However, you must know I am an X-00 digimon for the Metal Empire family so, if Hermes killed me, it means he probably has my sample of data already. But don't lose hope! I'm sure he still hasn't found the rest of the X-00 digimon for the rest of the families, which means there's still hope. ”
“According to my father’s writings, the result of mixing the samples of data from all the X-00 digimon inside the Digital Breeder will result in an immortal creature being born. A monster unable to feel exhaustion or pain. A demon that will be able to obliterate entire cities with the snap of its fingers. It’s obvious we can’t allow this. And, if I made the right choice with you, I know you’ll think the same.” Zaiden took his hand to his heart, showing he trusted whoever was watching his message.
“I sold some treasures my father had gathered during his life and I used to money to build this amazing laboratory, where you’re seeing this. While I record this message, I'm hiding here, after managing to steal the Digital Breeder from Hermes. But I can’t stay here any longer. Terminus is the most important city inside the Digital World and I’m sure he’ll find me without much trouble if I stay at a place as crowded as this. I don’t know where I’ll go, but it’ll be far away. I'll take the Digital Breeder with me. I know Hermes will someday find me and, as I said, if you’re seeing this, it means he killed me. Sadly, if he used a part of my data on the Digital Breeder, it means I won't come back as a Digitama."
"What you must do now is trying to find the X-00 digimon and protect them. Try to find them before Hermes does and stop him from taking their data. Inside these computers, I have left all of my research regarding this topic. Maybe you can continue from where I left and design a way of finding the X-00 digimon.” Zaiden let go a sigh. “I wish I could provide further aid.”
“Whoever you are, I’m sure we had great times together. I'm sure you’re capable of doing this. I wouldn’t have chosen you if you weren’t. It is possible, however, that you’re going to need help to accomplish this task. I know you’ll find great friends who will fight at your side to save this world. I hope the information I have provided here and in the documents I left off are somewhat useful for you. Please, don't give up. Stop Hermes and save this world I love so much.”
“I wish you the sparkiest of lucks.”
The message had ended.
By this moment, both Pike and Ramma had been brought to tears.

CHAPTER V: DECISION The hopes of their father being alive had vanished. Even further, he was never going to come back. A huge responsibility had been put on them and the Digital World, as a whole, was at stake. From that day on, Pike and Ramma had to accept their lives had changed forever.
Of course, the big question was in the air; were they going to do it?
The reason there was no doubt on their minds could be related to the courage their father had shown by going through all of this. The values he had trespassed into them and his sense of justice. It could have been related to the responsibility of the Digital World being at danger. It was maybe even fueled by the desire of getting revenge at Hermes for destroying their family and killing the digimon who saved them from freezing to death.
Whatever was the reason, their answer was clear: Yes. They were going to stop Hermes. Or, worst-case scenario, they were going to die trying.
During the next three months Ramma and Pike lived inside that laboratory by themselves, working all day, every day.
Ramma started studying. Compiling all of the information Zaiden had left behind on those computers. Data about the Digital Breeder, about data extraction and its symptoms, about Hermes, Zoka, and Zaiden himself. The now X- Mamemon even continued Zaiden’s research about a device that could find X-00 digimon, so they could be a step ahead of Hermes. He had to become smarter, he had to become capable of intellectually beating The Funjinmon.
Pike, on his side, used the training facilities to become stronger, faster. He had to improve his fighting skills so no one ever did to him and his brother what that Zamielmon did. He had to hit harder and move quicker. He had to be ready to fight their enemies when they appeared.
They were going to stop Hermes. They were going to save the world.
Little did the brothers know they were about to find two brave humans and a group of digimon willing to join their cause. Willing to help them avenge their father and save this world. Little did they know they were going to be foundational members of the Ashikaga Clan.
