Post by Persephone on Mar 20, 2019 3:59:51 GMT
Digimon Name: Persephone
Default Form: Dorumon
Gender: Female
Alignment: Neutral Good
Skills/Talents:
Clever/Intelligent: When you grow up too fatigued to play, you oftentimes grow up with your face in books instead - Persephone is quite book-smart and work-smart, and knows how to help around in KIZNA, even if her physical capabilities are lacking.
Sewing: Likes to sew and make clothing and accessories for everyone.
First Aid: Knows how to perform first aid on sick or injured digimon, as well as act as a general medic when need be.
Babysitting: Though Persephone doesn't always have the energy to keep up with the more rambunctious kids, she's highly empathetic, and good at keeping an eye out for them and keeping them entertained.
Gardening: Persephone has an interest in gardening, even if her condition sometimes makes it a little difficult to keep up with tending to her plants.
Singing: Persephone has a beautiful singing voice, that others cite to be quite soothing to listen to - and she loves to sing to herself when she has nothing else to do, or to sing to an upset child to sooth them.
Inventory:
Backpack: Persephone keeps her bag on her at all times- filled with sewing supplies, books, and other misc belongings.
Books: Fantasy books, medical books, be it informative or entertainment, she's usually seen with books on her.
Sewing Supplies: A few needles, some thread, and misc scrap cloth
Walker: A foldable walker with wheels, made to help Persephone around when she's having trouble on her own.
Water Flask: A flask she carries around to drink from, and sometimes fills with hot water or herbal tea to help soothe aches.
Electric Blanket: A heated blanket that she sometimes wraps herself in, to cope with aches.
Sanitizer: A bottle of sanitizer that she uses to clean her paws, objects, and surfaces - to keep herself from getting sick.
Personality:
Persephone is not a digimon you would initially think is chronically ill. Generally, when she's out and about, she goes thru life with a smile. She's kind and gentle to those around her, and is jovial - loving joining in jokes and laughing with others. She has an appreciation for children, easily endeared to youngsters, and has cited one day wanting to be the 'cool aunt' for her siblings' children, when that day comes. She loves soft blues, pinks, and purples, she loves the chill breeze of the Prominence - even if it tends to aggravate her aches - and she loves listening to music while doing monotonous things or laying around.
Though the truth is - this is simply how a good day for her might be like. Even during a good day, she's hurting under the surface, she's grinning and bearing the aches and other symptoms that come with being chronically ill. This isn't to say that it is a lie - but that sometimes, not all days for her are like this. What the average digimon might not see of her life, is the days she spends in a hot tub, doing stretching or breathing exercises, or even receiving healing from Hikaru or Haku to try to soothe her aches. The days she spends bedridden and snappy because the symptoms are worse than usual, and the days she spends doing nothing but sleeping, or needing help or aid to do even simple things.
Despite this though, Persephone does not like attention being drawn to her illness. For her, this simply is a part of who she is - and she can still live her life, even if she has to go through life differently from most digimon. She avoids exerting herself too hard - which means no fighting - even sparring is a no go, no heavy lifting, and sometimes asking for aid going up and down stairs so that she can avoid aggravating her aches. She avoids being out in the cold for too long, receives periodic treatment from Haku and Hikaru - or a local doctor if neither are available - to help manage her symptoms, and she's very mindful of sanitation, to avoid getting sick with her weakened immune system.
As mentioned before though, sometimes she isn't all smiles, even despite this. She can become snappy, stressed, and antisocial during a bad day - or even have times that she's so fatigued, that she does nothing but sleep or laze around. She does sometimes feel guilty over being chronically ill, over her data being 'wrong' - and wonders if there's a way she can fix herself, if this isn't something that's just all in her head, with how people sometimes have difficulty understanding her - and she even sometimes has difficulty understanding herself!
She can sometimes even have days where she struggles in wanting to accept or ask for aid, cause she hopes that maybe if she acts on her own just this once, that she'll be okay every other time she does this; though more often than not, she only ends up hurting and frustrating herself in the process. Though, on the inverse, she sometimes has a hard time saying no to aid as well in the event that she really does want to try something on her own - not wanting to hurt the feelings of those close to her, who are only trying to help. She dislikes people who take the simple things in life that she can't necessarily enjoy - or at least if she can, then it's not as easily - for granted, too.
Though, even with all of this, Persephone is still a bright, loving, and happy digimon. She's done her best to make things easier for herself to manage her symptoms, and she has goals in life, despite it. Perhaps, one day, she'll find a way to make things easier - though for now she's still content, and knows how to manage herself thru day-to-day life, even with her condition.
Personal History:
When Persephone was born, it became obvious from the start that something was wrong with her.
Most fresh and in-training digimon are lively and happy little things - playing, exploring, and learning as they grow up. Sure, they're sometimes seen dozing the day away - though this is simply a result of the more rambunctious ones having a tendency to burn all of their energy as soon as they have it. And sure, they get sick easily - but this is simply because their immune system is still developing and growing, much like they themselves are, and it usually just takes some love and care before they're well and ready to go again.
Persephone though, when she first hatched, was none of this. Almost as soon as she hatched, she was coughing and shivering - seriously ill from birth, which was a grim omen; for what did it take for a digimon to be born sick? Despite the loving and attentive care her parents - Owen and Hikaru - and any doctors they brought over gave her, she never really got better - even if her initial illness passed, she still would cope with multiple issues - a weakened immune system, aches and chills, occasional headaches and migraines, and intermittent fatigue. The cause of this? Her data was highly unstable - only barely able to keep itself together in her lower stages.
As a result of her symptoms though, she had difficulties living as abled a life as most other digimon, oftentimes needing aid to do things other digimon would take for granted. On a bad day, even getting out of bed can be near-impossible for her; but all the same, she also found ways to work around and adapt her disabilities, and to develop other skills.
She'd oftentimes spend her youth reading books, learning crafts such as sewing and gardening, and even learning healing from her father Hikaru. In growing up in KIZNA, she's become a sort of an assistant to all - being more than happy to patch up a torn article, to keep an eye on the local youngsters, to grow herbs for everyone, to put her knowledge to work, or even to help heal scrapes and bumps. Even if she's not a fighter like many digimon, Persephone gets thru life thru other means.
Digimon Name: Baldur
Default Form: Hawkmon
Gender: Nonbinary, They/Him
Alignment: Neutral Good
Skills/Talents:
Cooking: Baldur is good at cooking up a meal, and loves to learn more about cooking new dishes, and the smiles on peoples' faces from a good meal!
Comedy: Baldur prides themself on their humor, jokes, and standup comedy... Whether they're actually any good at it though is anybody's guess; humor is in the eye of the beholder!
Housework: Be it cleaning and tidying up, or helping water plants, Baldur is good at helping around with busywork and chores.
Woodworking: Baldur isn't very good at it, but they're trying!
Flying: Baldur is good at navigating thru the air, even in tight spaces - particularly for getting up to higher shelves, to help reach stuff for Persephone.
Inventory:
Scarf - A golden fluffy scarf, that Persephone had sewed for them. Even in their bigger forms and their smaller forms, he's never seen without it; the scarf being special and sentimental to them.
Messenger Bag - What it says on the tin - a messenger bag with embroidery, button pins, and decorative patches sewn on.
Books - A couple of whatever fictional books Baldur is reading at the time.
Carving Tools - Tools for carving and cutting wood, for woodworking.
D-Nexus - Having a close tie to Persephone's family - and KIZNA by extension - as a result of their role as Persephone's best friend and caregiver, they have a D-Nexus so that Persephone can contact them, or they can contact the family, if anything is wrong.
Personality:
A loud and happy jokester, everything is a party for Baldur, and everything is all sun and shine for them, too! Even in the cold reaches of the Northern Prominence, or the desolate Western Flatlands, or even in the depths of the Dark Area, there's warmth and color and happiness to be found somewhere; and they'll drag it out themself if they have to! Sure, perhaps this means they come off as a little naive, and perhaps this means they're sometimes a little bad at 'reading the room'... But they mean well, and they want to be so happy and so much of a jokester that it's positively infectious, so that everyone around them is happy and laughing, too!
They are incredibly loyal and dedicated on top of this - seeing as it plays hand-in-hand with how much they want to make sure that everything is happy and cheery. They're absolutely willing to drop everything for a friend though, be it anything as simple as helping with tasks, or even stepping in to defend them! It may be a bit of to a fault, though this also plays into their role for their best friend, Persephone - whom they are a primary caregiver to.
Even if they're a jolly goofy dork, Baldur is also very attentive to Persephone's needs and wants, and is absolutely willing to go to the ends of the earth for her - often helping around with chores, and picking up things for her from the nearby Rustport or Snowflake Village if need be. Baldur can sometimes be a tiny bit fussy or overbearing with Persephone - though with their close bond, is usually quick to pick up on it if she's feeling off put. Baldur wants the best for her - and while sometimes this can be interpreted in romantic undertones, Baldur regards their relationship with Persephone to be entirely platonic; it's more familial or sibling-like than anything, if they had to put a word to it. They even share an appreciation for books, even if Baldur prefers more actiony-fantasy-adventure type books, cookbooks, and joke books, and it isn't uncommon for the duo to be reading together during downtime.
When Baldur isn't helping people around or assisting Persephone though, they're usually practicing their jokes, learning a new recipe, or just going out for a fly around the Sky Terrace in Ys. They enjoy chatting it up with people, oftentimes socializing with the civilians, and tends to be able to identify newcomers with ease as a result. Another thing Baldur tries to do is woodworking, though they're not exactly the best at it; most of their sculptures coming out a little awkward looking. They're still trying, though, and just like with everything else, they're always able to move on with a laugh when something messes up.
Personal History:
Born to a couple of travelers who had made the decision to settle in Ys, Baldur and Persephone had met when they were both just in-training, Baldur being slightly older than the little Dorimon at the time. She snuck out of the base one cold day - wanting to read in peace and quiet - when they had met, and they quickly clicked over similar interests, and Baldur's general sunny and friendly personality. Since then, they became fast friends - Baldur being watchful and attentive over Persephone's condition, but also being an eager source of laughter and humor for the disabled Dorumon.
Baldur has since taken up the role of being her caregiver as a result, being there to aid her and help her around - especially when her family isn't present to do so. They have recently since taken up woodworking as well, hoping to return the favor to Persephone, for the occasional gifts she'll sew up for them.
Mercenary
Digimon Name: Brynhild, "Hilda"
[/div]Default Form: StormGuilmon-X
Gender: Female, She/Her
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Skills/Talents:
Senses: What Hilda lacks in sight, she makes up in her other senses. It's a common misconception that losing one sense makes everything else stronger - instead, it's more that she is much more aware of things such as taste, hearing, and the such - allowing her to notice things that other people might still be able to perceive, but overlook. Additionally, her reptilian forms naturally give her a keen sense of smell, allowing her to track like a bloodhound!
Judge of Intent: Though she can't see one's body language, Hilda still pays close attention to other people around her, and is a surprisingly good judge of character. From just listening to them - be it how they walk, to the tones and words they use - she usually can get a good idea of someone, and whether or not they are a threat.
Electronics: Though Hilda is blind, her Thundersense gives her an innate understanding of electronics at a glance, and given time to examine an electronic, it doesn't take too long for her to figure out what makes what tick. She finds it a nice hobby to mess around with from time to time, and enjoys helping or watching Matty tinker, on an occasion.
Personality:
Loud, brash, and assertive - Hilda is very much different from her gentler, kinder siblings. At first glance, she seems very much like a hooligan - a digimon that you wouldn't want to mess with, or get caught up with, in any situation. She's rough, tough, and not afraid to speak her mind and make sure that everyone gets it - even if it comes to the point of knocking it into someone. She doesn't bond easily with strangers, tending to be standoffish and ornery to them at first. She, additionally, hates being judged for her scars and blindness, and she hates the idea of being coddled or treated differently just because she can't see like most digimon can - and prodding at her too hard can easily provoke her into starting a fight with you.
However, underneath this surface, Hilda can also prove to be a protective individual. She has a tendency to direct her rage at anyone who she thinks is a threat to her family - especially to her older sister, Persephone - and is willing to fight tooth and nail to protect her family, even if she isn't always the best at expressing her affection towards them. Her family are perhaps the few who see a more relaxed side to Hilda, where she doesn't get as aggressive or huffy - and where she turns out to be a very energetic, scrappy, and outgoing roughhouser. As far as her aggressive and angry nature goes, a lot of this is - in fact - out of a mix of insecurity, and coping.
After a traumatic event left her scarred and blinded, Hilda copes by reacting to that trauma and fear with full-on fight. She copes with other digimon possibly treating her like a fragile doll, or seeing her as something that needs to be coddled, with fight. She copes with a deeper notion that even she isn't quite aware of - that her blindness makes her weaker than other digimon - with fight. She believes that if she fights, if she's loud and scary and aggressive, then she won't get hurt again, then she won't be seen as weak or needing to be coddled, and maybe people will respect her for who she is. Persephone, too, is a small part of how she copes - dedicating herself to being a protector to her older sister, both out of their close bond with how Persephone understands her disability and is always there for her, and out of wanting to prove that she herself doesn't need anyone protecting her.
When she isn't being huffy and puffy or protecting her family, though - there are a number of things she could be doing. Be it bathing and basking in the hot tub to stave off the cold, wrestling with one of her siblings or fellow KIZNA members, or even messing around with electronics - which are the few things she is able to 'properly' perceive - Hilda isn't one to let herself get bored for long. If nothing's happening, she'll make something happen, or entertain herself in some way. Other ways she likes to entertain herself, is simply spending time with her siblings - be it helping Persephone around with chores and housework, or helping Matty with electronics.
Personal History:
But one of many children who were born to Hikaru and Owen, Hilda had always been a rambunctious little tyke - and quite the handful, at that - from a young age. Chewing on anything she could get her still-developing teeth on, trying to playwrestle with everything, and sneaking off when no one was looking to investigate anything that caught her eye. The fact that she had difficulty controlling her electricity as a child didn't help, either - it not being uncommon for someone to accidentally get little static shocks from her while trying to handle her.
Her tendencies towards being such a handful would get her into trouble very quickly, though. One day, when having snuck away from her family as a StormGigimon to explore, she would come to wander away from Ys - out into the salty plains of the Shining Sea. The pretty crystals and open space to run and play as she pleased would dazzle her and fill her with joy, but it didn't take long for her to quickly become lost - unsure of which way was home anymore. And it didn't take much longer after that, either, for her to run into trouble.
Soon after having realized that she was lost, Hilda would come to have a dangerous encounter with a feral Callismon who was either hunting, or saw her as an intruder in its territory. Having that invincible feeling common to younger teens and kids, and having never been faced with a danger like this before, Hilda would try to stand her ground - but it was quickly proven to be a mistake when she would be struck by the beast's claws in the face, leaving nasty gouges in its wake. When Hikaru and Owen - searching for their lost daughter - would finally find her in the Shining Sea, she would be found unconscious, near-fatally injured.
Though they were able to heal her wounds, deep scars would still be left in its place - both physical and mental - and they would come to find out that she had been blinded in the incident. This quickly became apparent when their daughter would wake up in a confused panic, frantically lashing out at everyone and everything near her, until they'd manage to calm her and convince her that she was home safe. But even then, it was almost as though she became a completely different person overnight; growing ornery and aggressive, as though to try and protect herself from what she could no longer recognize by sight in her fear. Her family initially not knowing how to approach Hilda's newfound disability didn't help, either - leaving her feeling alienated and coddled.
In coping with her trauma from the attack, as well as the insecurities and issues that would develop as she grew up, Hilda would quickly grow into a rebellious, almost hooligan-ish type - coping by making sure nobody around her wanted to mess with her, and coping by looking after the sibling that was closest to her - Persephone. Deep down, she still cares for her family, especially once they'd eventually learn to treat her more or less the same as her other siblings; but it is apparent that those scars from long ago - both her physical scars, and her mental scars - still linger...

[ABILITY] Soothing Song: Persephone begins to sing to those around her in a soothing, peaceful tone. This singing soothes negative emotions, and calms those who hear it. If used in combat, it pacifies those who hear it for 2 turns, during which she can attempt to negotiate with an enemy digimon to peacefully end combat, or flee. Otherwise though, the enemy can choose whether or not to continue combat when the duration ends. If an enemy chooses to continue combat, they cannot be pacified again. Has a reduced effect against higher-stage digimon. [2 turn cooldown]

All stats across the board are 2/3rds of a healthy digimon of the same stage - attack, durability, speed, etc. To make up for this, her support effects - heals, buffs, non-damaging debuffs, etc. are stronger than an ordinary digimon's.
[ABILITY] Mending Touch: Persephone is able to, with a touch, mend a digimon's wounds - helping stitch their data back together. This is a moderately strong healing effect. [2 turn cooldown]
[ABILITY] Energy Veil: Persephone brings up a thin blue veil around her. Upon receiving damage from an enemy, the veil retaliates at the attacker at the same strength. This veil lasts 2 turns before fading away. (Note: Persephone still takes damage, it just deals the same amount of retaliatory damage to the attacker.) [3 turn cooldown]

However, they focus more on moves that'll directly protect those around them more than directly fighting the enemy, such as increasing speed and putting up whirlwinds to impede the foe. If backed into a real fight though, Baldur is more than willing to use their claws against the enemy - and if the enemy dare drag Persephone into the fight, Baldur will fight tooth and nail, too.
Abilities:
[PASSIVE] Protector: Baldur is willing to fight tooth and nail to protect his best friend; If Persephone is involved in combat in any way, Baldur's attack increases to match that of an ordinary digimon's attack.
[ABILITY] Gale Shield: Baldur, flapping his wings, kicks up a stationary but powerful whirlwind - the 'eye' of the whirlwind being large enough to fit a few average rookie-sized digimon, or an average champion-sized digimon. Projectiles that are fired at/thru the whirlwind are deflected in a random direction away from it, and anyone who attempts to pass thru the wind take moderate damage in the process as the wind batters and cuts at them. The only safe way to enter and leave the whirlwind is from flying in from above - or in the event of a burrowing digimon, below. This whirlwind lasts 2 turns before fading. [2 Turn Cooldown]
[ABILITY] Tailwinds: Baldur kicks up a tailwind for himself and/or his allies that bolsters their speed - up to 3 digimon of his choice get 20% increased speed for 2 turns [3 Turn Cooldown]
[ATTACK] Storm Claws: Slashing winds swirl around Baldur's claws as he slashes - either directly at the foe, or from afar. If in close combat, both his claws and the winds slash at the foe - but if it's from afar, it sends the slashing winds at the foe in a claw-slash shape.

Fighting Style: Hilda's style is loud, wild, and quite literally electric. Though she has a hard time dodging, due to being unable to discern incoming attacks very well, she is an unstoppable berserker who hits hard, and takes hits - shocking the enemy all the while with the electricity in her scales if they get too close to her. When it comes to actual combat, she is unafraid to jump into the fray and use Stormburst to attack a group all at once, or use Thunderclap from a distance.
Abilities:
[NONCOMBAT PASSIVE] Blind Dragon: Hilda is blind. She is missing her right eye completely, and her left eye is dominated by cataracts and a damaged pupil; leading to her vision being extremely blurry. She only has indistinct and hazy splotches of color to tell her what is what, and she also has zero depth perception as a result of all this. She makes up for this in her other senses - having an extremely keen sense of smell that helps her tell where other people are - and whilst her senses in general aren't necessarily stronger than the senses of other Guilmon, she pays a lot more attention to them. As a result, she tends to notice things that others might technically be able to hear/smell/feel/taste, but still miss or overlook.
[NONCOMBAT PASSIVE] Thundersense: Hilda is sensitive to electricity/static in the air, and is able to sense things such as predicting when a thunderstorm is approaching, or things such as whether a device or individual part of it is functional/active or not, and in what ways the electricity in them are flowing. She seems to primarily be able to sense this with her fins and headspines - and thus tends to prefer keeping her head uncovered - though she is able to sense electricity thru general proximity as well.
[PASSIVE] Berserker: Hilda might not be able to see you, but she sure as hell can fight like a wildwoman. As a result, she is both 30% stronger and 30% more durable than a normal digimon. However, she is also 30% less likely to dodge an incoming attack, unless it is electrical in nature.
[PASSIVE] Static Shock: Hilda's scales crackle with electricity - especially during combat, where it can be seen arcing between different portions of her body. This ability is toggle-able at will, as to avoid hurting friends by accident - but otherwise, enemies who attack her directly or otherwise come into contact with her take minor damage as her electricity shocks them!
[ATTACK] Stormburst: The electricity crackling across Hilda's scales reaches a fever pitch - lightning beginning to arc between her and the ground - before it bursts outwards! In a 15-foot radius around her, electricity practically explodes from her scales in a powerful attack - electrifying everything around her, friend or foe! [2 Turn Cooldown]
[ATTACK] Thunderclap: Hilda claps her claws together, in the direction of her target. The impact makes a thundering boom like a storm, and sends a burst of sonic and electrical energy at the enemy!
