Valuable Lessons [Alice and Dorothy]

With everything that happened recently, Toki worried about the Digimon of Rosewood and how they were recovering in the wake of the attacks. Much to his own relief, however, everyone seemed to be going along with their lives and working hard to get things back to normal. Their fortitude and ability to overcome the odds was something that inspired Toki to keep going no matter what happened.
The local guards were hard at work training to help better counteract future events and lead the innocents to safety. Toki even recognized a couple of them from when he helped guide young Rookies from the Village of Beginnings. That was a while ago, wasn't it...? Time sure did fly. He sat down on a bench underneath one of the gorgeous wooden decks and admired the tranquil day by day everyone was participating in. He pondered what he could do now, though truth be told he was still recovering from the injury he received during the attack.
He sighed a bit as he pressed a hand to his chest. "Everyone here in the Digital World is doing so well...I wonder what my future holds." he said to himself, unsure where he wanted to be in life. School was going well and with his relationship with his family mended he'd have a chance to one day return to Ishikawa and inherit the dojo. With the digiport technology he wouldn't even have to be away from the Digital World.
This realization made him smile softly "That's settled, I suppose. The Digital World is my home too. I'll do what I can for it." he said. He set his backpack down at his feet and dug out a couple of packaged snacks. He greeted the Digimon that passed him by and a few of them even happily returned the greeting to the friendly human, either out of respect for his role in helping the forest or out of mutual kindness.

After her weekly teaching session in Rosewood, Alice sighs in relief, the experience always stressful, but worth it either way. As she leaves the building after the numerous Rookie Digimon have left, a sole Champion, her partner, heads to her side to help her or just be there, the human carrying a stack of books in English, Japanese or even Digimoji out with her. "Find anything interesting to do? And no, I don't need help carrying any of this."
"Nah. Place is peaceful as always, 'n people ain't really that interestin' to bother... Not that I mind, but..." The Witchmon makes a muffled grumble, a slightly grumpy frown on her face as she shoos off the last Rookie Digimon to leave the school. The lack of excitement makes her feel restless, an urge to move around and cause trouble deep in her nature, subdued around Alice, of course, but still present. "How 'bout we head somewhere a lil' more quiet?"
Alice's only response is a nod, and the two get moving, deciding to head under some of the large wooden decks, a gentle stream flowing underneath the walkway alongside a bench not too far from it. And considering there's a person, a human, on the bench, one of them is going to try and start a conversation.
A very different, perhaps slightly familiar voice soon greets Toki without warning, having somehow swiped one of the snacks and already opened it. "Gyahaha, if it ain't that one guy, the, uhh... Yeah, the Spirit Warrior! From that thing Alice doesn't really seem to remember much!" As if to announce her presence, the individual floating on a broom not too far off the deck with the bag in her hand, a pointed hat on her head, and a confident, cocky grin on her face. "Been a while, though it looks like things've been good for the both of us!" With a small laugh, the Witchmon floats back over, only to glance off to the right to see her Tamer's expression.
"Please, be more polite next time, Dorothy. I get that you're excited, but..." Alice can only shoot Dorothy a slight glare while she stuffs the books into her bag one by one. her steps somewhat hasty as she approaches the two, but taking care not to bump into any passing Digimon. "Ah. Toki, was it?" She tilts her head slightly, uncertain if it is him. After all, it has been a while, and for a moment the green haired woman just listens to the sounds of life she can hear in Rosewood as she tries to recall when she met the young man. "It's been ages since I've last seen you. I don't remember the specifics, but you're definitely familiar to me. How has it been? The locals seem to really... Enjoy your presence."

Toki blinked a bit when one of the bags was swiped by a large clawed hand. The voice, however, was a telling sign to him and he just laughed it off "Hello, Dorothy." he said as he looked over at the two approach him. "Yeah, that's me. Wow, how long's it been since we met in the mountains? You're...Alice, right?" he said as he moved over on the bench in case she wanted to sit down. "Yeah, things are going well for the most part! At least compared to earlier."
He shrugged a little bit when Alice scolded Dorothy "I've got plenty and would have shared either way. Though I would have liked to have been asked first, you know?" he glared at Dorothy, though it was clear he wasn't too upset about the whole deal. "I hope the two of you have been doing well! It's good to see some familiar faces still going about their days."
He looked around at the Digimon passing by "Aw, well I'm glad you think so. I hope they enjoy my presence! If they didn't I'd be worried about what I did wrong..." he said as he rubbed the back of his head "Well that and I guess they're appreciative in my part in stopping the recent attack on the forest. Apparently getting a Sovereign's help is a pretty big deal and everyone seemed to just...treat me really nicely. I'm glad I was able to help save their home. It wasn't without cost though."
Toki looked down at his torso "I took a pretty bad hit during it all. It's still kind of healing, but Dr. Mikemon helped patch me up. And...someone didn't make it out." he sighed sadly. He shook his head "I'm sorry, I don't want to make things sad during our first meeting in a while. What about you two? Are you holding up okay here in the Digital World? You're not tormenting Alice too much, are you Dorothy?"
An excited Patamon ran up to Toki and told him "Mr. Toki! I broke my record on how many flying targets I hit at training today!" Toki responded with a warm smile "That's great! Go relax with your friends and have a good day, alright? Got to remember to spend time with the important people to you." he said. Patamon nodded "Mhm! Thanks! I'll see you later!" they said as they flew off.
Toki smiled warmly "The Digimon here are so great. It was right to build Rosewood. Now the young ones have a safer place to practice and make new friends."

"That's correct. In fact, I'm glad to see a familiar face as well. The Digital World is such a large place that it seems seeing friendly faces is becoming less and less likely." The green haired woman states as she slowly sits down next to Toki, not only to get some rest but also to take out her notebook, ever-present and always having something added to it. "Or at least familiar ones. Having Dorothy with me helps, though..." Letting out a somewhat peaceful sigh, she seems to be genuinely happy for a moment... Until the mention of a Soverign. "Wait, what did you just say? You got the favor of one of the..." She sets her notebook on her lap and closes it to take a different book out of her bag, a fairly worn out book in Digimoji that she's probably been studying for a fair bit.
"...Gyahaha, he's right there if ya wanna ask him 'bout it, Alice." Dorothy decides to get off her broom and squeeze into what little space is left on the bench, perhaps aware that it isn't exactly the most practical option. "I think me 'n her were fightin' some dumb Gigasmon 'round that time... Wonder if it's related. Alice got her leg injured durin' that, but she's fine now. Least, she says she's fine..." This comment causes the green haired woman to briefly look up at her Digimon, though she quickly goes back to mulling over the book.
When Toki's own injury is mentioned, she can't help but wince at the memories of her own fight, and how close she was to danger. The chance of death in that situation was more than probable, something only apparent in retrospect. "Are you all right? It probably still hurts, doesn't it?" She then falls silent upon hearing that someone died during that encounter, her mind briefly racing with questions as to who and how... And if things could have went much worse. "...Ah. I'm being insensitive by being curious about what happened, aren't I? You're right, let's change the subject. I've been serving as a teacher here on occasion, with Dorothy as my occasional assistant and helper. Most of the students accept her, but others..." Alice shakes her head slowly, her eyes closed.
"Yeah, yeah... Some people ain't so keen on acceptin' me, so what?" The Witchmon shrugs, leaning back and propping her broom up in a manner akin to a walking stick. Despite this, she seems quiet about it, tense and with a slight frown, a pair of teeth showing like fangs. "As long as I got you, things'll be just fine..."
The pair are silent when the Patamon greets Toki and flies off, an awkward silence only made more so with the detectable angst coming from Dorothy until Alice speaks up once again, knowing she must break it one way or another. "That one was a regular at my classes. And yes, I feel like that's exactly what this place is. Somewhere for new Digimon and Tamers, less impersonal than Terminus and perhaps even a little more... Human, in its' own way. After all, we Humans helped build it. I'm still curious about what happened to you, though... But only if you're okay with me asking."

Toki realized that mentioning the Sovereign may have raised many a flag for questions to be asked. Not that he really minded answering, especially with someone he knew "Well, first I came across a group of Digimon that were trying to evacuate the forest...I decided to help guide them to safety with the help of a Mephistomon, Wizardmon, and Lillymon. The way out was trapped and the only way through was by getting through one of the enemy fighters, a Phantomon. Unfortunately for us it turned out to be capable of digivolving into MetalPhantomon. I got cut by its scythe and that's how I got the scar on my chest. Still, we ended up winning, though it turns out some of the innocent Digimon were marked and controlled by something. Thankfully the patrol was able to catch them and rid them of the mark, but it seemed the Wizardmon was with the enemy the whole time...maybe even the mastermind."
He leaned back a bit as he tried to make himself comfortable on the crowded bench "I got temporarily patched up by someone at the patrol, so I decided to go back in. That's where I fought a Megidramon alongside some other really powerful Digimon. First time I properly used my Mega level spirit in a fight and let me tell you, that was draining. As we fought, a human and her twin digimon biomerged into something that can...only be described as angelic or even godlike. They...sacrificed themselves to prevent the Megidramon from leveling the forest. Something about her seemed so familiar, but I couldn't get a close enough look." he said with a sigh.
After a few moments, he continued "I actually tried speaking to the Sovereign statue for help, since Megidramon was corrupting the land with the last of its power...and it worked. It woke up and with just one move it...fixed everything. Dispelled the corruption. It was awe-inspiring. And I think...it imparted some of its power to me as thanks for my contributions. Or...I don't know. Maybe that's too presumptuous."
He smiled a bit "And that's the story. It was nice to tell it all again...the good and the bad so that the fallen can be remembered...and how a bit of determination and hope can go a long way." he said. He listened to Alice as she spoke "Oh, you teach here? That's great! I help some of them with combat techniques and strategies from time to time if they ask me. I always give them a bit of a philosophy lesson too to make sure they use their abilities for good things."
He frowned with the implications that Dorothy isn't very accepted from time to time "I don't see why anyone wouldn't want you around. If it's for the type of Digimon you are then...well that's their loss. That doesn't define who you are as a person. That's up to you. Though...you might have heard that a thousand times and I'm just sounding like a broken record, so sorry if that's the case. Either way, I accept the both of you."
"Overall I'm glad the two of you recovered after your own encounters...I think a lot of things were related here in the forest that night...it couldn't have been a coincidence. I'm glad we were able to save it. It's a culmination of human and Digimon spirit...the great things we're able to accomplish when we all set aside our differences and work together."

The green haired woman listens intently, her response slow, the sounds of Rosewood serving to make the awkward silence a little less so as she carefully and slowly reads a passage from the book she pulled out. "Somehow, the enemy controlling innocent lives to manipulate others isn't surprising. It's the only way I could anyone would willingly try to destroy their own world. And to gain the favor of a Sovereign is something almost unheard of, from what little I can even translate..." The green haired woman can't help but sigh, defeated at the fact she doesn't have and probably will not ever have all the answers. "And to think that your foe was unthinkably powerful as well..."
"And to believe that the Sovereigns are even more powerful than that... It's a lot to think about." Closing the old book and putting it away, she stands up and runs a hand through her hair with a thoughtful expression on her face, though a slight frown is evident as well. "It's hard to imagine even being in the presence of such a battle... Searching for answers isn't easy when they're so elusive." With her eyes opening, she then looks to Toki, her tone back to the relatively friendly one once the whole teaching thing is mentioned again. "That said, yes. I focus on the more... Intellectual half of things. Mathematics, the geography of the Digital World and its' places, occasionally language... You'd be surprised how intelligent some already are."
All the while, Dorothy is silent until she mumbles something, interrupting Alice. "It ain't 'bout my type, it's... It's a lil' more complicated than that. Some of 'em say I copy humans too much. What's wrong with bein' so interested in a buncha fleshy dorks anyways?" She shrugs, not really saying much besides that, but it's clear that it isn't new, and has been something on her mind for quite some time. "I am bein' pushed to do so a lil' bit, but..."
"...Given the events that transpired in the Human World, I think it's for the best we don't end up catching unwanted attention." Alice sighs, not looking at her partner while she responds, turning around afterwards with a slightly tired look in her eyes. "If those agents are really going to look for us at some point, we need to not let them do... Whatever it is they want to do to you when things get bad. Take you away, kill you..." She looks away again, simply staring into the small stream. "I don't know what will happen, but knowing how people act sometimes... The best outcome isn't likely."
The two remain in silence, the topic hanging in the air with an faint, unpleasant tension between them.

He nodded solemnly "I wonder what's going to happen after all of this. I heard a lot of things are changing as a result. Part of me thinks this wouldn't have happened if the persecution of Virus types wasn't so widespread...I only hope this doesn't escalate into further animosity. We all need to learn to live together in peace if these sorts of things are to be avoided."
Alice's awe at the sheer strength of some of the Digimon was something he could relate to "It was surreal being that close to so much power. It really is a lot to think about, but I really do think some of these beings genuinely want to look after us...I believe it's the duty of the strong to guide others to their own strength, whatever it is."
Toki grinned a bit at her mention of Digimon intelligence "Actually I'm not really that surprised. One Digimon I met, Holly, is still young but she's endlessly curious and intelligent. It's amazing how Digimon have this capacity to learn and grow so quickly. It's inspiring if you ask me. The fact they have someone like you around to guide and teach them only makes the process faster and probably more enjoyable! I find it admirable that you seek to learn these sorts of things for yourself as well."
He looked over at Dorothy "You should be who you want to. You're not hurting anyone trying to be like us, so I don't see why others should give you a hard time for it. I certainly won't."
Once 'agents' were brought up, Toki realized what Alice was talking about. "Are you talking about DATS? I met one of their agents when I turned myself in. Uh...let me explain. I did it because I knew it would get me close to an agent. I wanted to talk to them, get their views on Digimon, and see if there was anything I could say to them. The one I spoke with was actually...reasonable. Their motivations check out, but I will admit they're going about it the wrong way. They don't strike me as the sort who would kill or hurt people unless they were threatened with violence first. They're a government agency after all, not a hit squad. I talked to an agent and I told them I think instead of pretending the Digital World doesn't exist, that we should lift the veil and start slowly educating people about it. Fear of the unknown is the biggest contributor to the uncertainty right now. Sooner or later something is going to happen that can't be ignored, so keeping it a secret is just going to backfire."
He scratched the back of his head "Sorry for rambling. I just...thought you'd like to hear that, you know?"

Hearing any good news about the DATS situation is enough for Alice to drop the rest of the subjects at hand for a moment, almost seeming relieved that they seem reasonable despite the undeniably cold and tough as nails exterior she saw on New Years. "...I'm glad to hear that. Perhaps people are more reasonable than I thought, and don't fear the unknown nearly as much as I expected them to. Or maybe it just takes an open mind to even have a Digimon. It makes sense that people are still on the fence, though." She slowly turns around, the faintest of smiles on her face as she gazes at the Spirit Warrior with a slightly more optimistic glint in her eyes. "And that's almost exactly what I'd say. The Digital World and its' people are the single most important discovery we've ever made. It's understandable to hide their existence to some extent... For the time being, at least. It's like if people actually knew aliens existed... Some people out there still won't take it well, so it has to be a gradual process."
Dorothy, on the other hand, simply shrugs, standing up with her partner, the witch frowning slightly but silent on her feelings. "Yeah... Guess we'll hafta see if things are ready for me or not... Or something. They might like me, but others might think I'm some kinda freak anyways. She sighs, slumping down slightly. "Appreciate the positive outlook, though, makes me feel a lil' better." Despite her less energetic posture, she smiles slightly, soon turning to face Alice and giving her a little wave as if to say she's all right.
"...I'm sure you're on your own journey, so I'm curious as to where you'll head next, Toki. What with Rosewood being relaxing but... Not exactly the most exciting of places. Who knows, maybe we'll meet each other?" The green haired woman gently pushes her partner's chin up, and puts all the books away. "Or are you not one for plans?"

Toki was happy that his news gave some semblance of comfort and peace "I can't say that all of DATS will be as understanding, but the fact some of them are willing to listen shows that there's hope for a peaceful solution. We just have to approach this carefully. It's a scary time. Strange beings that no one's ever seen before? Of course they're going to be a little on edge. Humans and Digimon both have the right to be a little wary."
He smiled softly "It'll take time. It'll be an adjustment period, but I think this is the future. For both of our people. We'll hit snags. We'll suffer from time to time...but we'll progress. And then we'll thrive." he said. He seemed so determined and committed to this idea.
Dorothy still seemed a little bit distant and depressed about something, but he was glad she felt at least a little bit better "We're always going to run into people who think we're weird or different and want to avoid us because of it. I know that feeling all too well. Some people think I'm a Yakuza or other sort of thug because I have a few scars." he said, tapping at the one on his lip. "Just have to...move on. Prove yourself through your own actions and live life with those who actually do care for you."
Toki tilted his head as he thought about where he was headed next on his journey "While I like the comfort and peace, I got news from my friend Aylin that my final spirit totem is somewhere in a place called The Blossom Isles. Needless to say...I'm excited. This will complete my spirit...he'll be able to remember his life and we'll be at a very unique position here in the Digital World. My goals don't change though. We're going to defend both worlds and do our best to act as emissaries to both."
He smiled at the chance to see Alice and Dorothy again "I'd love to meet up again someday and maybe go on some adventures. We should exchange contact info." he said, preparing his own information.

"I can only hope things go well. For now, though, it's probably best to focus on putting our best foot forwards rather than making adjustments." The green haired woman's response is slow, but carries the same optimism as her previous statements. She steps towards Toki with that faint smile on her face, and holds out her hand as if she wants a handshake. "It's a promise that I... Hopefully won't make things worse."
It won't be easy, though, she thinks to herself. Given recent events and all the fears and inevitable threats that try and seep around and out of the Digital World, it might only be a matter of time before something... Truly unpleasant happens. How long would it be until the secret could no longer be contained due to some sort of disaster? Being there at New Years, it almost would have happened if not for intervention from both DATS and other Tamers.
Toki's words are finally responded to by Dorothy when she takes a deep breath, and tries her best to smile, looking more determined than happy. Still an improvement over her previous mood and the swarm of unpleasant thoughts that came with it, but not perfect. "You're right, that's what I'll do. Actions speak louder than words, after all. If someone spits in my face for what I am, let 'em. They're just a jerk. Whenever me 'n Alice go off 'n help people, it means more than the words of some pompous dumb..." She freezes up. "...Uhh, I can't say that word, but they've never been through anythin', is what I'm trying to say."
"Hah, well, you said it yourself that things will be fine as long as we're together." The green haired woman chimes in, tilting her head slightly when she hears about the Blossom Isles and drawing a blank when it is mentioned. Having been to so many places in the digital World, she can't help but be curious of somewhere unknown. "I've... Never even heard of it before. The Digital World is full of strange , lesser known places, so I'll probably need to head there for research sometime when I'm not busy. Have any idea what it's like? Hopefully less dangerous than Old Terminus, the last place I went to for research..." She seems a bit uneasy mentioning that strange place.

Toki accepted the handshake happily "We just have to move forward. We got this." he said with a smile. "It's difficult to know what exactly will happen. Some days will be more difficult than others, I'm sure, but even so we have to hold onto what drives us. Then someday we'll make a difference that hopefully changes both worlds for the better. It's a lot to ask for, but I'll do my best to see it through."
He thought back to that DATS agent and how she seemed conflicted about whether or not this was the right move. She made some good points, but still, it didn't feel right to completely ostracize the Digimon and ignore they ever existed. That's just a powder keg waiting to happen if a Digimon shows up out of no where in the Human World after a period of no Digimon activity.
"I think the word you're looking for is 'ignorant,' Dorothy." he said with a chuckle "It's a...nicer way of saying someone doesn't quite understand what they're talking about and just assume they know everything when they just don't. I try not to throw words around like that if I can help it though, so I can respect that restraint. Still...I'm glad you're doing okay overall."
The friendship the two shared was nice to see. They seemed to really trust and support each other. "You two seem really close. I remember back at the city you were a bit more distant from each other. To see you two get along so well now makes me really happy."
He thought about the Blossom Isles for a moment "From what I've heard it...like the name suggests there are a lot of flowers. The architecture is similar to the likes of Japan during the feudal era. It sounds fascinating and I can't wait to see it for myself. It could be a little bit tense, as many Digimon there haven't met humans before considering how long they've isolated themselves from the world. But...I think it'll be okay."

"Our bond has had its' ups and downs." Alice awkwardly lets go of Toki's hand and takes a slight step back, glancing to Dorothy and nodding as if the two are in agreement. "It would be a lie to say it was perfect, though. We've argued quite a bit, and Dorothy's even threatened me a few times, but I feel that if things weren't rough sometimes, we wouldn't be so close." There seems to be something on Alice's mind now, the green haired woman thinking to herself as she moves out of the way of a small group of Tanemon playing about. "In a way, it's similar to Rosewood itself."
"You mean big, green and secretly nerdier than everyone else 'round 'em?" Dorothy jokes, hopping onto her broom and floating upwards a bit, perhaps seeming a little bored with things, her nature getting the better of her.
Alice can't help but chuckle to herself at that, and she urges Dorothy down so she can sit on the broom as well. "I meant to say that it's taken a lot of effort from both Digimon and Humans alike. As for the Blossom Isles, I'll definitely have to check it out if it's relatively untouched compared to the rest of the Digital World. As good as it is to see human influence, I guess I need a place that has much less for some of my theories... While the Digital World's origin seem mysterious, there are moments where it evolved on its' own, completely separate form any human influence. Remnants of conflicts and situations nothing like what happened in the Human World... That said, you're a Spirit Warrior, and I haven't got many opportunities to study them or even ask one a few questions." She suddenly looks down a bit, seeming... More than a little bit awkward. "...S-Sorry for the sudden change of subject. I just want to know a few things."
"Ain't askin' 'bout his Spirit 'n stuff a lil', uhh... Personal?" Dorothy's glance at the emerald haired woman turns just a tiny bit uncomfortable, a hand on her hat. "I mean, he's a good person 'n all, but ya sure he'd be comfortable with that?"
"Well, that's why I'm asking!" Alice shrugs, and she and Dorothy begin moving, gently floating a small distance away, the Tamer on her Digimon's floating broom. "I think I left something at the school, is it all right if you come with us?"

"Nothing's ever perfect. And you know what? That's fine. Bit by bit things improve and while we all have our arguments, as long as you two don't seriously hurt each other, there's always that chance at reconciling and learning more about yourselves in the process, right? Though...maybe fewer threats in the future, okay?" he said with a nervous chuckle.
He smiled and looked around them at Rosewood "Yeah, you're right. Your bond is like Rosewood. It's had its rough patches, but you've pushed through and become stronger for it." he said. He listened with interest when she wanted to find a place that's had less human interaction than most of the Digital World "You love discovering things and doing your research, don't you? Hold onto that. That could prove absolutely invaluable if...and honestly when...the human world and digital world start interacting more and more."
He shrugged a bit at Dorothy's worry when Alice asked about what it was like being a Spirit Warrior "Ask away, it doesn't bother me at all. I honestly like discussing it with people, so it's refreshing to be asked once in a while. What would you like to know about it?"
Alice worried that she left something at the school "Ah, sure! I'll come along with you. I'd love to see where you work, anyway." he said as he would walk alongside the duo. He watched as Alice floated away on her Digimon's broom. This small act of trust between the two brought a smile to his face, but he didn't say anything about it. "As random as this is...I love this world. Its people. Its culture. The places to see. I want to see it succeed. I want to see humans and Digimon become more connected. Too many people want to see us separated...when that's denying something beautiful."

With both Tamer and Digimon on the flying broom, Alice and Dorothy begin to slowly backtrack to where they were, taking in the sights and sounds after urging Toki to follow. The two seem more or less used to this, with Alice having no fear of falling off, gently drifting off the ground with a faint melody being quietly hummed by Alice for a good few minutes until she finally speaks up. "All right, first question... How did you first discover your Spirit? A pretty basic question, I know, but it's the easiest place to start."
"Gyahaha, ya always ask that kinda thing to every single Human you meet out here." Dorothy, being the one focused on actually flying the broom around, only chimes in for now, seeming a bit puzzled that Alice seems to be in a genuinely good mood again, something supposedly a bit uncommon.
"Well, of course. Second question... What's it like having a spirit? Like, having a Digimon's... Essence or soul or... Something inside you like that. It's hard to explain, and I'm not sure it'll be easy for you to explain, either." The green haired woman remains silent a bit, thinking about it herself, this question probably being the one that she thought might have been a little too personal. "If Digimon are data, and completely alien in terms of structure, what exactly makes them able to interface with us? Spirits aren't exactly common, but they aren't the only case of this happening..."
Lost in thought for a few minutes, she ponders the nature of what she just said, and the nature of the very world around her. "I don't think you've seen it, but I get the feeling there's a relation between Spirits and... How me and Dorothy interact when she Digivolves past Champion." A grumble from Dorothy cuts the subject short, a clear sign that someone doesn't find it comfortable. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that there might be less of a difference between us than we think. You're right, I want to see things more connected, more... Whole."
The place that Alice teaches is basically untouched from the days when Rosewood was a little bit smaller, a schoolhouse with one classroom and a few, more recent side rooms. It's picturesque, a small, pleasant space hidden by trees. Hopping off of Dorothy's broom, Alice takes a key out of her bag and unlocks the front door before heading in, vanishing from Toki's sight. "I'll only be in here for a minute!"
"...Ya know, she gets sick whenever we do that... Thing." Dorothy states as she looks to Toki, then to the light peeking through the trees, mumbling to herself after the seemingly random statement. The witch shakes her head, pulling her hat down, and finally remains silent.

Toki smiled at that first question "Oh a question I love to answer, excellent. I first encountered my spirit during my first day here in the Digital World. I was...a different person then. Crippling anxiety, shy, and much too quick to beat myself up over things I probably shouldn't have. Though when I came here...I knew I couldn't just blindly wander on my own, so I offered someone to help find their lost Digimon. During the outing in the forest, we were attacked by...I want to say some Fanbeemon...I fought as a human for a little while, but eventually I got pinned down. Then, there was this flash of light and my Digivice appeared before me. That's when I first heard his voice, and when he became my mentor and friend. Since then...he's helped me become a better person."
He crossed his arms slightly at the next question, humming slightly as he thought "Hm...what's it like? Well he's always there to chat if I need it, so that's nice. As for the Digimon part...it's...wow, how to explain that. Whenever I spirit evolve, it's a rush. People have asked before if it's painful...and I say yes. But in an oddly meaningful way. Push through the pain and become stronger for it. That's how it feels every time. Each form is different...and does kind of impact my general demeanor a bit. Not like, completely personality altering, but there's a noticeable difference. Turuiemon, I'm a little more energetic and excitable...Antylamon I feel mostly the same, but sometimes I take the stern teacher attitude a little too far...Lagosmon is just...this tranquil rage just waiting to fight...then ZenCherubimon. Whenever I'm that form I feel at peace with everything. I'm stern but fair. I'm calm. I feel wise. It's...so strange to think about that every time I digivolve I'm slightly different, but I'm not scared of it."
Toki seemed a bit worried for the two of them as they hinted at something they really don't like talking about "Well, we're all people aren't we? Doesn't matter what we are. Human...Digimon...the only difference between us is what we're made of. One's flesh and blood, the other's data. All of us are still important individuals in the grand scheme of things, all with our own likes, dislikes, and beliefs."
As they reached the small schoolhouse, Alice left for a moment, which seemed to give Dorothy a chance to talk to Toki "...thing? You mean when you go past Ultimate? That's...strange. I thought the biomerge was the last step for some tamers. What exactly happens, if that's not too much to ask." he noticed her silence and waved his hand "Oh...don't worry about it. It's clear it's not an easy subject for you to think about. Sorry I asked."
