Hiroyo froze with her spoonful of ice cream in her mouth at the noise from her bedroom. Her eyes slid from the show on the television to her roommate. She was entranced by the Korean drama playing out in front of them, her own bowl of ice cream melting, forgotten, in the bowl on the floor beside her. Hiroyo's shoulders sagged with relief as she turned her attention back to the show in front of them, resolved to go find out what the heck was happening at the soonest break.
Her attention in the show had been broken from the fully absorbed trance her roommate was under. Now while she watched the lead fall for the scheming that plagued the show and normally had her on the edge of her seat, she was thinking of the twins instead.
They knew how important it was to stay hidden, while she trusted her roommate with most things she didn't really want to know how she would react to the whole giant talking bugs thing. Since she didn't know Hiroyo had resolved she would just never know. It was perfect!

"Ouch!"
She stopped moving as her roommate looked around, blinking at the dim reaches of their apartment beyond the light from the screen. A bead of sweat trickled down the red head's neck. She mirrored her roommate's look of confusion and set her bowl aside to hurriedly stand up. "I'll be right back!"
"Sure, I'll let you know what happens." Her roommate offered, her eyes narrowing in suspicion. Hiroyo could feel her shoulders tensing up as she walked way, doing her best to appear unconcerned.
"Great, thanks! Probably just some hat boxes shifting." She called over her shoulder just before she opened the door to her room and stepped inside. She turned as she closed the door, watching her roommate turn back to the show and the sound from the television continue. She breathed a sigh of relief and rested her head against the door frame for a moment before she turned to glare at the two bugs with her hands on her hips.
"What are you two doing? You know better!" She whispered at them. She eyed first the Kunemon on halfway up a wall then the Fanbeemon on the floor who was quietly thrashing about on the floor. Never breaking the quietly hissed stream of what could only be insults the winged insect finally managed to flip himself upright.
"Stupid Hiro, we're facing a crisis and you're in here yelling at us!" The Fanbeemon whisper-yelled. Both the Kunemon and Hiroyo immediately shushed him.
The human half-turned to listen at her door again before turning back to face the Fanbeemon with a confused look on her face. What crisis? As far as she could tell the two appeared physically fine, although Morgan was acting more like Roger usually did. Her expression softened.
"Wait, crisis? Did something happen during your nap?" She asked, mindful to keep her voice down. The Kunemon on the wall opened his beak and expertly spat a ball of webbing over the Fanbeemon's face when he opened his mouth again.
"That would be one way of putting it, yes. I do doubt crisis is the correct term for it." He said calmly, his voice low and steady. Hiroyo stared at the unusually calm Kunemon then at the angry-thrashing Fanbeemon on the floor. Her eyes slid back and forth between them.
"Well, I know it's probably important but we still need to be careful so you two aren't discovered. What, ah, what's wrong?" Hiroyo asked hesitantly. Something was wrong here, she had never known Morgan to be so outraged nor Roger to be so calm. If Roger was being calm she could only imagine what horrible thing had happened.
"You do have a point. This is hardly something worth risking discovery by DATS, although the suddeness is shocking." The Kunemon said. He turned toward her from his spot on the wall and regarded her quietly for a moment with his beak pressed together. There was something thoughtful in the eyeless 'look' and that unnerved Hiroyo even more. "If my brother would calm down it would be easier to work our way through the events happening, but as he is currently unable to do so I shall fill you in."
"That...would be nice." Hiroyo said, squinting at the worm on her wall because that was in no way Roger and it sounded like Morgan but Morgan was a Fanbeemon and this wasn't. "It was a really good Korean drama, I am missing out on so much of it right now."
"Fffkkk errr drrmmmm!" The Fanbeemon exclaimed, the words and volume both thankfully muffled by the sticky webbing that he was currently trying to pry off his beak. The Kunemon glanced at him briefly, antenna twitching with what Hiroyo recognized as amusement, then turned back to her.
"Well, we could star on a drama ourselves at the moment. We appear to have switched bodies while we slept." The Kunemon said. There was a pause in the room between the two of them and for a moment it narrowed to the two of them, the Fanbeemon's continued thrashings fading to the background. Hiroyo swallowed experimentally to see if time had stopped. She swallowed again to see if the motion would kick start her mouth moving. It worked.
"You are trying to tell me you took a nap and woke up as each other?" She repeated, buying herself time as her brain worked. The Kunemon nodded but kept quiet, he was watching her expectantly. It was weird, and weird stuff happened in the Digital World all the time! It was certainly weird enough to happen there!
But they weren't in the Digital World.
She took a deep breath and slowly let it out through her nose as she considered the possibilities. She was in the Analog, nothing strange beyond the appearance of monsters should be happening here, right? She remembered jumping into the Shibuya river, remembered appearing in the Digital World and chewed her bottom lip.
She had thought the weirdness contained to the River, or to the section of the station she usually used as transit. Now it was here, in her home, messing with pre-established facts.
"So, you," she began with a finger pointed at the Kunemon. "are Morgan and he" she moved her finger over to the Fanbeemon. "is Roger." The Kunemon nodded with the quiet aloof smugness Morgan usually portrayed, the typical 'look it can learn' attitude she associated with him.
She slid her hand under her ball cap and dragged her fingers through her hair. The Fanbeemon - no, Roger - had finally gotten the rest of the webbing out and off of his beak.
"'Bout time Hiroyo-dame. What did you think was happening? Oh, wait, probably nothing because you don't!" His voice started rising from a whisper again and she joined Morgan in shushing him. Roger huffed and awkwardly rested his claws on the ground, his eyes narrowed but the pupils blown wide. Abruptly she realized he was scared and off balance. "Sure, sure, shush me when you're not the one stuck in a body you don't know at all and see how you like it! Shushing me with my own web! Your own brother!"
"I shall do it again if you do not quiet down." Morgan said calmly, his head swiveled toward Roger. His antenna were very carefully still. Hiroyo blinked a few times then nodded.
These were indeed the twins.
"So what do we do?" She asked. She took the couple of steps to her futon and sat down on it cross legged. This far from the door she felt was safe enough to speak above a whisper. "Do either of you have any idea what could have caused this?"
"No, dummy, we were sleeping." Roger said bitterly. His antenna moved in constant jerky movements. He shuffled awkwardly around to face her, beak partially agape.
"I do not recall anything out of the ordinary, no troubling dreams nor disturbed slumber." Hiroyo looked over at the Kunemon who was currently crawling over the wall like it was the easiest thing in the world. He seemed much more graceful than Roger usually moved, and in comparison to his twin's current difficulties the gap was even more noticeable.
"So what should we do? Go to the Digital World or maybe wait it out?"
"Wait it out? Are you st-MRPH!" Again Roger was silenced by a wad of webbing and Hiroyo pressed a hand to her mouth. It was hard not to laugh at his much deserved silencing.
"You seem to be taking this a lot better than he is." She mentioned, looking over to the Kunemon.
"Of course, I have worn this form before." Hiroyo blinked a few times.
"Uhm, explain? Please?"
Morgan shuffled to a stop on the ceiling, his feet clinging as easily to the surface as Roger ever had. For a moment he stood (or maybe laid) with his head low, his antenna twitching slight. Finally he lifted his head. "I was not always a Fanbeemon. Once Roger and I had forms that made our twinship much more obvious."
"Y-wait? You were a Kunemon?" Hiroyo scrunched up her face and then gestured to Roger in the Fanbeemon body. "How did you end up like that?"
"We - Isao, Roger, and I - found the Hive." He said shortly. He ground his beak for a moment then shook his head. "It is a group of Fanbeemon and their evolutions. They...had a rather unique way of increasing their numbers."
Hiroyo frowned at him in confusion then spent a long time looking at his usual body then back at him. Her mouth opened in a little 'o' of understanding as the truth dawned on her."That's awful! How did you get away?"
"I was rescued by Roger and Isao before they could finish the process. They snuck in and crept around until they found me. " Morgan said matter of factly. He had transversed across the ceiling of her rather small room to the middle, and now he was circling the area as if he wasn't sure where to travel next. His voice held a bitter kind of glee as he continued to speak. "Roger digivolved past Champion when they had to fight their way out."
Hiroyo rocked back and looked again at Roger, and then Morgan. Her eyes were softer as they examined the two. "That sounds horrible. That's why he's so determined to reach Ultimate, isn't it? Why you both are."
Morgan gave a decisive nod.
"Correct. The digital world is a dangerous place. Although," he continued ruefully, "It appears the human world has its own oddities and surprises."
"Mmm, do you think we should sneak you both back to the Digital World or hang out here? We might be able to find someone there who could help."
Morgan pressed his beak together and stared silently at Roger who finished pulling the second batch of webbing off his beak. He carefully walked away from one of the stacks of hat boxes that littered the small room like pillars from a bygone era. Once he was a safe distance away the currently-a-Fanbeemon huffed and folded his arms over his chest.
"I want to change back as fast as possible, but something like this we might have to just wait it out." He grumbled. Hiroyo pressed a hand over her mouth, eyes sparkling with interest. Roger had calmed down a lot during the story. Was the reminder of that terrible history what had done it?"
"'royo! You're missing out!" Hiroyo flinched at yell, hurriedly standing up and straightening her shorts.
"Regardless, I need to get back out there. Uhm, we can leave after the show if that's what you want?" She offered as she hurried to the door of her room. After checking to make sure the bugs weren't in direct view she opened the door and stepped out, casting one last look at the twins before she shut the door behind her.
"That took forever, did you get caught up fixing decorations or something?" Her roommate asked from the little kitchen area where she was grabbing a bottle of gatorade. Hiroyo grinned, and rubbed the back of her head, looking away as if embarrassed.
"Yeah I, ah, got a little caught up. Took a phone call too sooo, y'know." She replied. She plopped back down into her spot in front of the television and watched the commercials wind to an end.
"Mhm! Just remember the agreement: no romantic interests in the apartment!" Hiroyo huffed and flipped a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Yeah, yeah. Y'know that really puts a damper on my dating life, right?"
"You'll live!"
