[LR 1] Treasure Extraction

Cleaning the deck would definitely take Ziggy and Amelie a while. After all, the place was a total mess. While they did, however, their conversation would have an interesting result: although they knew nothing seemed to be stopping them from going straight to Re-Re Island, they wanted to finish this endeavor, getting to Leomon’s Junk Island and recovering the stolen treasure.
Before getting to that, a long cruise was ahead. And a deck to clean properly to boot.
While Amelie moved the rudder, she would notice the wheel was very hard and awkward to move. And even when it did, the ship just wouldn’t direct itself properly. Further examination didn’t seem to unveil anything wrong with the external case of the object. What was wrong, then? Could it be there was something wrong with the rest of the mechanism connecting the rudder to the pieces that actually made the ship change directions? In any case, someone should check that out, somewhere. The ship was going to be hard to maneuver like this.
While Ziggy cleaned around, he wouldn’t be able to miss a small cabin placed some meters behind the rudder, at the southernmost side of the galleon. Could it be that was the captain’s cabin? It definitely seemed like something of interest could be found in there. The question remained, though: how to open it? The lock seemed to have a small gap for a key to fit in. But where was it? Maybe there was some other way to enter this place?
After going down the stairs that led below deck, David would find himself in a giant aisle. The insides of this ship were a combination of metal and wood, the doors seemed to be made of metal, but parts of the walls and the ship’s structure was made of some type of dark brown wood. Below deck, everything seemed to be a lot cleaner and organized, although a bit abandoned. A set of two doors to each side were visible, while, by the end of the hallway, the kid would find something he probably would never think he’d see in a pirate ship: an elevator.
It seemed completely functional, although a single lightbulb illuminated its insides. Right next to the door, on the inside, a small panel with five buttons could be found. The numbers one to four were engraved in each button, one below the other. The last button, by the lower end of the panel, had the letters ‘UW’ engraved on it. Each of these numbers and letters was etched next to its digimoji equivalent.
What button would David press? Or would he rather enter one of the doors the aisle was offering him?

"But that's exactly my point. We can't trust Ganemon, and we know nothing about Leomon, except that he's apparently hideous." God, Ziggy hoped they weren't in fact going into the layer of a MadLeomon. There was just too little information to go off of. They had no proof that this Leomon had done anything wrong except for Ganemon's word, which was practically worthless without emperical evidence to back it up. Ziggy just didn't feel right sneaking into some mons home and taking their stuff with so little reason. Though he had to admit that Amilie had a point. They had agreed to this, and it wouldn't be just to back out now. "If we do this, I think it should be face to face. We aren't strong enough to win in direct combat if it comes to that, but we can't just not hear Leomon's side of the story."Perhaps they could do both. It's not like all three of them had to go in together. One or two could go in to talk, while the remainder stayed behind to set up a trap of some sort. But that left the point that Ziggy was the only mon amongst them. Wait, that wasn't right. "If I could ask, do you have a digimon partner? Every human I've met so far has had some connection to one." Not that he had met many humans besides David, but a human without either a partner or spirit in the Digital World was nigh unheard of and Amilie had said earlier she was "just" human. ELSEWHERE This place was creepy. Below deck, it seemed very little light came through the corridor the stairs lead into. As he moved forward, David heard every wave splash against the side of the boat, as well as every creak of wood on metal and he stepped forward with trepidation and anxiety. Something about not being able to actually see the water they were sailing on made this all seem scarier. With each careful step, David made his way towards the two metal doors at the end of the aisle. Once inside, he saw a normal set of elevator buttons, minus a few like 'emergency call' and 'close doors'. Of course, if you wanted to explore fully, the correct course of action would be to go systematically from 1 to 4, then the different button last. However, David was all about adventure, and reasoned that 'UW' absolutely stood for "Ultimate Wonder" and definitely not "Under Water." Without any voice of reason around to tell him he was being kind of stupid, the boy smashed that adventure button. Amelie hummed. What could she say? Ziggy had a point right there. "I see where you're coming from. You're right." After nodding, she added. "Most of the Leomon I've met are honorable beings; maybe a little boring and somewhat over-the-top, but you're right on regards that I have a hard time believing the species would do something as heinous as what Ganemon described without a good reason. Wanna give talking a shot, then?"
The brunette paused for a second. "I guess I don't even have to say it; any attempt at stealth would be ruined if we're gonna parley with that guy, and things can get real bad real fast. I can take care of myself, but I can't guarantee that no harm will come to your tamer if things turn sour. You okay with that?"
If the frog was okay with those terms and thought that the diplomatic out was the soundest plan, then there was no further argument from Amy; she was on board with Ziggy's proposal.
Changing topics. What about her partner? Was it time for the reveal yet? The brunette had to admit that being mysterious and that stuff had its own allure, but on the other hand, there was really no reason for her to be withholding information from the crew, especially since they'd be sharing the whole trip towards Astrivia and beyond.
"Ever heard of spirit wielders? If you have, then that's pretty much it. If not... let's just say that I'm my own partner; that's the short way to explain it."
As much as Amy would've liked to remain there and chat, the wheel was giving her an unreasonable amount of trouble, and it was obvious that it was due some part of the ship being faulty or malfunctioning. Was there any way to lock it so the course wouldn't change? If there was, Amy would make sure that there was no harm ahead. "I'm gonna check out the rudder." She told Ziggy before unceremoniously walking towards the edge of the ship's deck and unceremoniously diving down.
By now, evolving before actually touching the water's surface was something she could do almost unconsciously. Would the problem be underwater? Hopefully, or else she'd have to delve into the ship's lower levels.

At the moment, the talks between Ziggy and Amelie seemed to be rather fruitful. They were getting close to deciding a course of action once they actually arrived at their destination. That was a good thing, no doubt. However, once they were done with that, there were many things to do around the ship. One of those being fixing that rudder. Amelie would quickly find a switch next to the base of the wooden rudder. By pressing it, the wheel would stay locked, making sure the boat didn’t change directions while she left it unattended. Right now, it didn’t seem like there was any obstacle or peril on the horizon, so this was a good time to go for it. Once she dove into the water, Amelie would quickly notice it was convenient for her to move towards the bottom of the ship, right below the vessel. From there, she would feel a flat, smooth surface, but no mechanism or anything like that making the ship change its course. If she had to guess, due to the material of this wall, she would probably conclude there was a transparent surface down there. Which allowed anyone who could see (definitely not her in her evolved forms), see what was at the other side of the crystal. Nothing else could be found beneath the ship. Apparently, the mechanisms she was looking for were below deck. Below deck was also David’s location. How was the youngest human member of the crew fairing off? Once the kid was inside the elevator, that hallway in front of him looked rather creepy, being that poorly illuminated. When the button was pressed, the doors just closed in an efficient although noisy way. The elevator started going down. The first thing the boy would notice was that, although they looked metallic, the doors were made of a transparent material, so he could see the content of every floor as he went down. They all were creepy, lonely aisles, much like the one he had just crossed. The content of each floor, as he went down, could be easily described as Aisle… Aisle with ghost!? Aisle… UNDERWATER!? David wouldn’t even have much time to dwell about that white, cloaked figure that he saw go by when the elevator passed through the third floor. Before he could do anything, the elevator had even gone below the last floor and was now underwater! It seemed like the cabin was still well attached to the ship, as it kept slowly moving forward along with the galleon. However, David could now see everything that was below water. It was a beautiful sight, no doubt. It was only down here, where the elevator was not surrounded by walls, that David could notice something. The chamber actually had a small, metallic bin attached to a side. The small box was also transparent, allowing the human to see a shiny jewel inside. It had a bright, red color. The box had a lid that allowed someone from the inside of the elevator to retrieve what it contained, but it couldn't be opened. The next words could be read in both digimoji and human symbology, at the top of this lid: "Treasure retrieving box. This compartment can only be opened from the captain's cabin." Apparently, the elevator allowed people from the inside to retrieve treasures from the bottom of the sea, and it seemed to have caught one! But the crew needed the captain's authorization to retrieve these findings. Getting to the captain's cabin was necessary if they wanted that jewel.

If they would just talk to the Leomon, that solved at least one of Ziggy's worries. And most of the rest were solved by Amilie's next words. If she was a tamer, that meant that they had 2 in the party capable of fighting, at least a little bit. This meant that splitting into two parties, one that went in and one that left a backup trap, wasn't a pipe dream after all. Ideally, David and Ziggy would stay back as the trap party, just in case things went sour. This formation would put David in the least danger, always a good thing. However, was it really good and just to send Amilie in alone? Not that Ziggy didn't trust her, but her abilities were completely unknown to him. Would she be up to it? They'd figure that out later, though.
For now, while Amilie was off doing whatever with the rudder, Ziggy would go off below deck where his partner had gone earlier, a bit worried about him. In the dimly lit hallway, Ziggy would peer into each side room, calling out for his partner in each one.
Far under the ship, David stared at a transparent box, possibly made of the same translucent metal that several other things on the ship seemed to be made of. Inside was the goal of every pirate that ever pirated. "Treasure." But how to open it? The words above said it could only be opened from the Captain's Cabin. Going back up, finding the mechanism that opened the box, coming back down...it all seemed too much effort. What good was he as a pirate if he couldn't steal treasure, anyway?
David didn't have anything that could be considered thieves tools, or even a lockpick on hand. What he did have, however, was a school ID card. The thin bit of plastic was similar in both size and material to a credit card, and he had seen in many a show someone open a locked door by sliding a credit card near the lock. He had never actually done this in real life, but TV made it look as simple as sliding the card in the crease between door and wall and hitting the lock a few times, so that is what he'd do. Successful or not, he'd hit the 1 button, hoping that'd take him back up to where he came from. The whole way up, assuming he couldn't get the box open earlier, he'd keep on trying the same method with different angles and changing force. Well, so much for that. The small journey underwater had been relatively pointless, except for the piece of knowledge gained from diving down. Sure, it was neat to know the hull's bottom was flat and that it could be used for observation purposes, but that didn't really resolve the problem she had looked to solve. Considering that she had left the wheel alone, wasting any more time here seemed like a bad idea, so ascending again seemed like the obvious choice.
Once again by the ship's deck, the digimon devolved. A rather wet Amelie gazed ahead to see if the course needed any corrections before checking if Ziggy was still around. Not very surprisingly, he wasn't; her first suspicions were that he had gone under the deck, probably to check on David.
So... that left the young woman with a single choice, more or less; the rudder's problem hadn't been fixed, and that definitely could be an issue if it wasn't taken care of in due time, yet leaving the wheel alone for so long made her justifiably uneasy. Was the sea tranquil enough to leave the boat alone for a prolonged amount of time? That seemed like a really irresponsible course of action, but it might've been a necessary one, given that nothing at plain sight betrayed signs of danger.
In other words, the horizon would dictate Amy's next course of action, and whether she remained atop the deck or decided to go under.

Right now, it seemed like everyone was minding their own business inside the galleon. Each of the members of the crew tried to solve some type of particular issue. How was that going?
Amelie will most definitely not see any type of danger on the horizon. It was true she couldn’t just take too much time down there if she ultimately decided to go below deck, but it was safe to say that, for now, she could go to try and fix the rudder without there being any devastating consequences. The sun had started setting, and the sea seemed calm, nothing worth noting ahead. Apparently, their road was safe. And, according to the map, they seemed to be moving in the right direction. Although it would not hurt to actually get an instrument that confirmed this. Something that could indicate in what cardinal direction they were going and that could complement the map during their quest
Regarding Ziggy, his trip to the very lonely hallway from the first floor would prove to be rather productive, at least if it came to knowing their ship a little better. The first door to his right would reveal a kitchen. It wasn’t that well illuminated, but it seemed clean enough, with some batteries and other kitchen utensils. A bathroom would be the first side room to the left, nothing worth noting there. The next door at the right wing of the hallway was completely shut. Nothing that indicated what could be waiting inside. The second door to the left led to a very interesting room. The chamber had a giant wooden table right at the middle of it, at least ten chairs placed around it. A giant map of the Digital World could be found, somehow secured against the wall. It seemed like the kind of place where the crew could gather to discuss important stuff. Some type of ‘meeting room’ could be an adequate term for the non-expert pirates? On top of the table, an item could be found. It was a compass.
By the end of the room, a set of stairs that seemed to lead to the floor down below. Should Ziggy take that, or wait for the elevator to be back?
Speaking of the elevator…
Maybe it was his lack of expertise in these type of lock-picking scenarios. Maybe the system the elevator had was just too well-secured. Whatever it was the reason, David had not been able to quite open the small compartment inside the elevator, so he would return to the first floor empty handed. Would he find Ziggy in there? What should his next move be? Maybe he should keep exploring the ship, or should he actually start looking for a way of getting that trapped stone?
There were so many things to do inside this ship! Luckily, they still had some time before getting to Leomon’s Junk Island.

As Ziggy walked down the hallway, he peeked his head into each room and gave it a good once-over, mostly looking for David, but also taking note of various details that could be seen from his low vantage point in each doorway. Since none contained his partner, he wouldn't venture into any of them further. The only one he'd examine further was the shut door. If he could reach the knob, he'd open it up and peer inside as with the other ones. If he couldn't, or it was locked, Ziggy would instead knock and call out for David before pressing himself against the door to listen closely.
Before Ziggy could make his way all the way to the elevator at the end of the hall, it dinged and opened up, revealing his partner messing with some sort of contraption. "David?"
"Drat!" David exclaimed as his ID card slipped out of the crack again, this time standing back up straight and repocketing the bit of plastic again, before turning back around. "Oh, hey. I found a treasure chest, but can't open it. Can you do it for me?"
Ziggy couldn't ignore such a request. Of course, he'd make his own judgments upon seeing the box and the shiny within. "It says we have to be in the Captain's cabin to open it. I think I saw that place up above. Follow me." The ModokiBetamon partner turned and walked out of the elevator, expecting David to be following him. Instead, he heard a soft thud behind him and quickly turned back around, thinking David had tripped or something. Instead, he found the boy with both hands gripped on the sides of the box, feet both planted on the walls as he pulled with all his tiny might, attempting to dislodge the box from the wall. "David, no." That short phrase seemed like it would likely be the recurring theme of this excursion.
When he was undoubtedly unsuccessful, David would be convinced to travel back up to the top deck and follow Ziggy to the Captain's cabin, as much as he disliked the thought of leaving his first treasure behind. No danger on the horizon was it. That meant that Amelie was free to check the depths of the ship with relative freedom; would she find the rudder quickly enough? She sure hoped so.
There was no time to waste. The descent was quick, yet dutiful; considering how bothersome it had been thus far to maneuver the ship, her main priority was getting rid of any issues the boat might have with the direction. It was a good thing that the seas were tranquil at the moment, because otherwise... things would have gotten pretty ugly.
It was beginning to grow pretty dark, and that would spring its own slew of issues as well. Were there any navigation tools on ship? Amy wasn't an expert when it came to those, but at least having a compass, or figuring out whether the Digital World had anything like a sextant, and if those were actually easy to use.
In any case, what would be found in during that journey was mostly a mystery. Hopefully, it'd be a fruitful one, and if not... she expected to at least understand a little more about how the ship functioned. And why it had so many curious features, considering it's supposed to be a working vessel.

So far, the expedition around the galleon was not giving excellent results to anyone, to say the least. However, the crew kept trying their best to get acclimated to what should be their new ship from now on. Ziggy wouldn’t be able to open that locked door in the floor he was currently at. Calling for David didn’t give a positive result either. Upon pressing himself against the door, he would listen to… water. Like… water moving from one side to the other. What was in that room? Such a mysterious door. Unsurprisingly, David’s attempt to get the treasure right away would prove to be unfruitful. He had now cleared room for Amelie to get into the elevator and move to the fourth basement, for a lack of a better name. Once Ziggy and the kid got back on deck, they would find the same cabin that the ModokiBetamon had spotted before. It was still well-shut. Surprisingly, that wood was pretty resistant! It could even withstand an attack from Ziggy with no problem. At the lock, the gap for a key remained there. If this was the captain’s cabin, where could that key be? Maybe somewhere where the captain used to hang? Come on, it couldn’t be that hard! When it came to exploring and finding solutions, the blue-eyed seemed to be doing a better job than the tamer and his digimon, although not by much. There was still a lot she had not seen of this ship, right? The elevator would comply by taking her to the lowest of the floors, except for that one that would take her underwater. A lonely, creepy isle was what she would find after going out of the chamber. There was a portrait hanging on the wall, at her right side. It seemed to be a map of the galleon! Pretty straightforwardly, it showed what could be found in each of the floors. B1: Kitchen, Bathroom, Aquarium, Meeting Room.
B2: Barracks
B3: Bar. (DON’T GO HERE)
B4: Operations Floor.
Amelie could also see a door to her left, another one to her right and one right by the end of the aisle. What now?

"Hi Amelie."
"Bye Alelie."
Both Ziggy and David quickly acknowledged their crewmate as they passed by each other in the corridor on their way up to the Captain's cabin above deck. Upon arriving, the door was, as far too many things on this ship, LOCKED. Why are there so many locked doors? It caused Ziggy to wonder and worry a bit more about the situation they were in. Ganemon didn't give them any keys, nor tell them they would need any for running the ship. Locked doors meant people were kept, at least mildly, segregated. Likely by rank. The fact that the ship's Treasure Extraction System or whatever required both a presence in the elevator and the Captain's cabin meant that it took multiple people to do at least this one task on the ship. The ship certainly didn't belong to JUST Ganemon. That much has been made clear. Were they tricked into stealing someone else's ship? Accidental pirates? There were so many layers of piracy going on here that they may as well be an Arrnion.
Putting that terrible pun in the back of his mind, it seemed that the key to get into this cabin was elsewhere on the ship, so back down below deck they went. This time the pair would split up and give a very thorough examination of each room as they went. Ziggy went into the kitchen and David into the bathroom. Each would touch and look at everything they could, getting into every nook and cranny and cabinet that they could, not overlooking a single detail.
Once done in there, they would meet up again behind the door that looked like it lead to some sort of conference room. Again, they would scour this room for anything and everything they could get their hands on. Particularly, David would take the compass on the table, and Ziggy would take a moment to memorize the map on the wall, taking note of any interesting marks, be they where pins had been, or any signs of unusually high use or notice. Was there a key in this room? Perhaps. If there was, they would go back up to the Captain's cabin and attempt to enter it. If not, they would proceed down the stairs and continue the search.
All the while, as long as they were together, the pair shared information about what they had found. The conversation mostly consisted of David telling everything he could, complete with a dozen tangents every step of the way, many of which somehow leading back to a bit of Power Rangers trivia. It was somewhat rare that Ziggy got a word in, but that was fine. This conversation was more for his benefit anyway, as it was becoming increasingly clear that David wouldn't be able to really parse much of the information gathered properly. "Hey, guys. Any luck thus far? This ship's a mess." Was Amelie's brief greeting as she crossed paths with David and Ziggy. Their quest to know about the vessel's various tricks and secrets didn't look to be a fruitful one, but time was of the essence, and inquiring about it further would waste precious minutes she could spend searching about how to get the rudder working again.
Once that was taken care of, then she could get up to speed regarding the other happenings inside this mysterious ship. So! What happened once she got to the bottom? Sides the fact that a map was found and that vindicated her choice pretty nicely, the choice in front of her straightforward; three doors gave her three options. Which one would she choose?
Not like it mattered; if one ended up being a dud, she'd just try the next one. So, as a first option, she settled for the one at the end of the aisle. Here goes hoping...

Finally, good results would start to show up! It seemed like the answer for the big puzzle that Ganemon’s galleon represented was to actually explore the vessel thoroughly. Thanks to this, it seemed like Lightspeed Rescue was finally moving forward, figuratively. Regarding Ziggy and David, even if the kitchen and bathroom didn’t seem to have anything of interest to offer, the search through that Meeting Room at the first floor below deck definitely delivered some interesting results. First, a compass in the pocket. This would definitely be useful for navigation purposes, along with that map hanging on the wall that Ziggy had paid special attention to. Since the chart seemed to show a general view of the seas inside the Digital World, it was hard to actually discern precisely where they were at right now. However, there was a landmark that would definitely raise the frog’s attention: Re-Re Island. That was their final destination, once they had gotten Leomon’s treasure back. The island and its name were marked with a red circle, although no other information on the location was provided. Why had the previous crew marked that particular island? Was it because it was linked to Astrivia, or just because it was where Ganemon’s friends lived? An interesting question, no doubt. Inside a small desk below that map, a very interesting book could be found. Engraved on the frontal cover, the words ‘Meetings Journal’ could be read in Digimoji. A quick skimming through its pages revealed this was an extended summary of the decisions taken and the conversations held during the meetings that took place in this room. No date or anything that could give any clue regarding when these notes were taken, though. Should David and Ziggy take the book, they would soon notice the reunions were numbered to a total of 7. Each summary contained a long paragraph of everything that had been discussed during the reunion and, due to the poor quality of the handwriting, it was not easy to read. Going through all of this would definitely take them longer than their trip to Leomon’s Junk Island, so they should probably read only one of these entries if they were interested in reading any. Which should it be? Inside the same drawer where they found the journal, right next to the book they would find… a key! Going up the stairs and back to the upper deck they would discover… it worked! Into the Captain’s cabin, it was. Upon entering the room, they would find it was not too different from that elevator David had visited before. Although its outer side was made of wood, its insides had a metallic surface working as walls. Even if the bed was a wooden one too, it looked fairly well polished and taken care of. A desk, some paintings, bookshelves, and empty boxes constituted the rest of the elements inside this chamber. Right after entering the cabin, the duo would be greeted by a voice. It wasn’t very natural. It sounded more like a robot. It seemed to be coming from speakers placed at the upper corners of the bedroom. “Welcome.” It was a female voice. “As a security measure, please state the name of the crew on board and the name of its captain. Otherwise, the features inside this room will be locked for you.”
Regarding Amelie, her little trip downstairs would take her to open, one by one, the doors at the lowest (non-subaquatic) floor. At the other side of the door by the end of the aisle, she would find what seemed to be a giant cauldron. Maybe a more detailed inspection could reveal something interesting down here, or maybe not. Since there didn’t seem to be any problem with the heating systems, it was likely the French lady would just move to the next room, her mind fixed on finding that rudder. To find what she came down here looking for, Amelie would have to check the door to her left. There, she would find a room with all kinds of machinery. Most of those seemed to be on and working. A Pelton wheel and an electric generator were definitely the two biggest elements inside the room. The wheel seemed to work through a mechanism that shot water from a nozzle. What would definitely raise the girl’s attention was the fact that the water seemed to come from below the ship, being brought up by some type of pump, apparently. That was a very interesting mechanism. What could that turbine be in charge of? With so many pipes and wires, it really was not easy to tell from down there. At the center of the room, she would find what she came in here looking for. Well, kind of. A pool of around 10 meters of width. From where she was standing, she could see, submerged in the water, the rudder. This didn’t seem to be an accident. It was actually part of the ship’s design. For her to find out what was wrong with the rudder, she would have to dive inside that pool. It didn’t seem too deep or had to swim in, except for the multiple turbines deployed throughout the pond. Hung upon the post that went from the rudder, out of the water and through the roof, a sign could be spoted. “Danger: don’t go inside the pool before shutting down the systems at the console.”
That actually made sense. If Amelie went below water without turning off those turbines, she would be French sushi in seconds. At the eastern side of the room, a console could be found. Three levers were up, none of them had any type of mark. Pulling those down would probably do something, somewhere. Considering none of her digimon forms seemed like it could fit that pool (not to mention sight might be needed for this task), it was likely that, once she turned off those wheels, it was swimming time for the blue-eyed. Finally, some tiny bit of progress. David was the one going through all the drawers and such while Ziggy took the time to memorize the map, and thus would be the one with both the key and unreadable book. Having acquired what the pair set out for they would make, once more, for the Captain's cabin. Immediately upon entering, they were greeted by a robot demanding to know information about the previous crew. But who were they? The answers probably lie within the book they had found, but there was no time for that.
"Uhhhh...Ganemon and the Coin Bois?" It was a wild guess, but going off what they already knew, it was the only guess that could be made.
But no no. That wouldn't do. "Now listen up, Siri," David took a forceful stance and pointed right at the speaker. "The old crew has been disp-...depose-...gotten rid of. As it is written in the pirate code, I, David Copeland King of the Pirates, claim this ship, and you, as my own. Now, be useful to your new captain and unlock all the things."
That was how this worked, right? You just come in, say you've taken over, and get your way? At least that's how it always worked on TV. Out on the endless ocean/ we tear along the gales/ with rum inside our bellies warm/ and freedom in our sails~

Well, at least for now, things looked pretty straightforward. There was a pool that gave direct access to the rudder; if anything was physically obstructing it, Amelie would probably check out soon enough. If not... well, it seemed like the problem at hand would be more complex than what she initially had thought.
Better to not jinx it, right? Of course, she had noticed the sign of the ceiling and was more than aware of the potential downsides of immersing on what pretty much an electric trap. Not at a nice end, even if she happened to evolve before doing so! Like any individual that cared about her own self-preservation, the brunette made sure to analyze the situation properly and concluded that the only way to inspect the rudder would be disabling it temporarily. Now, that carried its own set of risks, but what else was there to do? Leaving the ship dead on water for an indeterminate amount of time didn't sound like a smart choice, but the alternative was even less enticing, as sad as that was.
By now, the young woman lamented her career of choice and her next to non-existent knowledge of machinery. Here it goes...
Slow, she began to pull down the console's levers. Would that have the intended effect? If it managed to shut down the rudder, it was swimming time! For what was... the second time today, actually.
Time to see if she could fix the thing.
