"Fufu, indeed, you as her partner indeed are doing great for someone who has not being chosen for long. I can see that your chemistry are great, which honestly between rare and not rare in new pairs, but I'd rather see duos acting as one rather than as separate that only can berate one another," Valt commented. I have seen some of those sort of thing too... it's prevalent in some relationship...
"But don't you think I have no idea that you're scanning me, you tyke. It's a great move if used when you're battling, but be careful if you use it before a battle. That might cause you get attacked instead because someone would like to silence you. Take my advice to heart."
Though things looks like getting a bit chaotic. Valt managed to harm Skadi further... not just that, she's practically on her last leg, huh. Her next attack are lightning, it's seem that it's homing at him. Despite knowing that if he's not grounded he pretty much would get struck by all of it, Valt's four wings formed a formation that decreases the air friction. Then again, that's unneeded, considering that the wind current should not affect him.
Once, the thunder struck. It hits his back... then the second, than the third, to his shoulder and his cheek. It should have been hurt, but Valt instead grinned wide. The fourth exploded right on his face. The smoke obscured my vision, ad I believed the fifth hit too, as the smog only somehow got thicker...
...Yet, my expectation was overturned.
The smoke screen scattered with such intensity. Valt continued his charge toward Skadi, faster than before. His four wing blades no longer on his back, but instead combined into a potent weapon on his hands. The green broadsword is coated with wind current. It whistled--nay, howled with such intensity that it sounded like a mini typhoon.
"....Forgotten Eurus."
Valt attempted to slash at Skadi's unprotected flank. Many might felt this is a bit of an overkill, but Valt has lowered this skill enough to not kill, but instead just knocks her out. Valt wishes to honor the Weatherdramon by knocking her out instead demanding a surrender.

Somehow, through all the howling winds, I had managed to nab the the attention of the commandeering Cardinaldramon, who told me that we worked great as a team, in which I felt a little bit flattered, by my slight blushing, but then called me out for scanning him at the very beginning, because otherwise, it'd leave me a sitting duck for other Digimon. "Okay, I'll make sure I understand for next time. But I'd appreciate it if you didn't call me a 'dyke', you... dyke?" That was a little hypocritical on my end, but I was caught up in the heat of the moment, could you blame me.
As the stormcloud built over Valt, ready to strike her down, his wing blades started to move again, probably as a defensive manoeuvre. Were they going to be used to parry and/or block the thunder? Apparently not. As the thunder hit him on several parts of his body, he didn't flinch. He didn't shout. He didn't even let out a small yelp of pain. All it did was just create a big cloud of smoke obscuring him entirely. Skadi's face fell as he charged at her. I could relate. All that effort, and for nothing. Granted, that huge power difference may or may not have played into it, but Skadi seemed like she'd get at least a decent scratch on him.
Still, Skadi was stalwart. Even as Valt charged towards her, and his windblades turned into a giant sword with it's own set of winds, she raised her orb to the sky for the last time, calling out, in a weaker voice, "Gale Barrier." Again, the wind barrier formed in front of her, ready to try and protect her from the slash.
Key word being 'try'.
As Valt swung the wind blade, it carved through the barrier easily, like a knife through butter, and into Skadi's flank, enough to just land the final non-fatal blow. Skadi let out one last pained roar before she fell to the ground, on her unslashed side, groaning in pain. "That's it... I give... you win." She moaned weakly, looking up at the victor. There was still a smile on her face, but it was a little weak.
Meanwhile, Ramona just sat slumped in her seat again, "Told you."
I paid no heed to that. I ran over to Skadi's side, bent down, and hugged her tight. She was weak, and sore, but alive and well. She slowly turned her head towards me, "Kenny... did I... do good?" Her voice was a little weak in tone, but her spark was still there.
"Of course you did good, pal." I said, still cuddling her, "You at least tried your best to defeat him."
"But I didn't get a single scratch on him." She lamented, "Valt just shrugged it off like it was nothing. Am I... not strong enough?" Her tone started to sound more and more disappointed. I tried to quickly cheer her up.
"Look, you managed to catch Valt off guard, at least. Remember, he called you 'clever'. And besides," I had to pull out some of my dad's old sayings to tell her this, something I was told quite a bit whenever I felt like I was struggling at high school or TAFE, "He's a teacher. And teachers are there to teach you things you don't know. They just have a lot more experience than you. At least, that's what my dad told me."
"Well, I guess your dad's pretty clever, ain't he?" She chuckled. "At least we both know I'm getting better, right?"
"You are, Skadi, you are. And next time, please don't make random friendly bets without telling me first. I prefer not to get wet without warning, thank you very much." I won't lie. I had a good feeling I had to tell Ryouta that I had to fill my part of the bet, and he had to throw me in the lake too. I had to take precaution. Using the Infini-Store in my Digivice, I placed my backpack and phone into the cube, before Skadi de-digivolved to her fun-sized Valaismon form.
Skadi still had a bit more strength to stand up in this form, so I just placed her on her own two feet, and went to get Ryouta. Skadi simply looked at Valt and told him. "I'm ready." She didn't sound upset, or angry at all, she knew she lost, and was showing that she was going to be a good sport by taking her forfeit willingly.
Meanwhile, I tried to call out to Ryouta again, waving my hands to him, "Hey Ryouta! I believe that we have a forfeit I, well, we need to do." I figured that since I was the Tamer of the losing side, it was only fair I had to face the forfeit as well. I then walked over to Ramona, handing her my D-3, and asking her, "Can you hold this for a second?" She did...
...but not before telling me, "I wasn't surprised in the slightest."
Finally, I walked back to Skadi, who still had a smile on her face, as I told her, "As I said, at least ask next time, before you make your friendly bets." But I was smiling myself.
In a last ditch attempt to save herself, Skadi uses Gale Barrier to defend against Forgotten Eurus. It doesn't work, thanks to the latter attack's pierce ability, and Skadi is defeated. GG.

Valt finally descended, and for the first time in a while walked up to Skadi who is now in her lower stage. He however isn't there to mock her or chide her. Instead, while the gale is still roaring, He spreads his wings again. The wind died down, and in turn, a warm breeze enveloped the young Digimon. It's at this time when the wind dies down that perhaps Skadi can see that it's not that Valt is unhurt... the wind actually scattered his blood away. The hit on the face actually left him with a clear wound.
"Fufufu, that was a great battle indeed. If I were on one stage lower I'm not sure if I can fight you that well. Next time perhaps I should try using XVmon eh? But Kenny is right. It's not that I took no damage. It's simply because when I'm fighting, the pain is muted. Pain for me is just like a close friend..."
Ready to be tossed, huh. Valt devolved to his Vmon form, then grabbed Skadi by her hoof.
"WELL, THEN, ALLEY OOP, GIRL!" and tossed her straight to the nearest lake.
And then I'm called... What, I need to toss Kenny too? Oh well. Gam-shisho grinned. He seem to agree to give me a break. Well, I guess that's nice. I'm sufficiently warmed up and had quite the workout, so I guess this is fine. I walked to the human and... well...
"Hold your breath."
Lift him by the waist and tossed him in. Of course afterward me and Valt just grinned. Time to jump in ourselves! I tossed away my shirt and took off my shoes, then together with Valt, just dived in the small lake ourselves. The cool water felt great on my skin. I don't really care my pants wet or anything like that. It's just nice. Valt too just approached Skadi again.
"You know what? You shouldn't be down like that back then. I know your potential, and I'm sure you can reach greatness. Tell you what, do you want to be my disciple? I got two, but I don't mind three or ten for that matter. If being a sensei is too formal, you can just treat me as your senpai, heh heh~ Well, what says you? I have grown fond of you two. I'm sure it'll be great to be honest!"
Ah here he goes again. "If you don't want to take his offer, just reject it," I told the two. "He's persistent as fuck if he already said something like that! If you don't want to, you got to say a strong no without a 'but'!"
"Hey, quit ruining the moment!" Valt protested "I'm a great teacher and you know it!"
"Yeah yeah..."

Valt had approached Skadi as I left to get Ryouta, while the winds slowed down, and from what I could hear, he sounded actually pretty nice about it, having enjoyed the battle himself. Although to our surprise, he said that the pain was muted, which seemed to mean that Skadi actually did lay a bit of hurt on him. Memories of the Arkadimon fight flashed back to me, when it clawed at Skadi and managed to destabilise her data. She insisted she was fine, even when it clearly looked like it hurt, Did Digimon seriously have some sort of advanced tolerance towards pain, some better than others? I had to ask sometime.
Skadi let out a small "Eep." as Valt's fingers wrapped around her hoof. And when he tossed her effortlessly like me throwing my clothes into the laundry room at home, I could only watch as she let out a loud "AIEEEEEEEEEE!!!" before she was silenced as she landed in the lake with a loud SPLASH!
More splashing sounds could be heard coming from the lake, before Skadi popped up, gasping for air. Her normally fluffy hair and animated ears drooped from being held down from the water. Her entire normally woolly body was now heavily damp, she was now only floating on the surface, and I think that was a lily pad that was covering her head. Walking over to the lake, I tried to cover my mouth with both hands, trying to hide my laughter (and failing, if my red face and my muffled giggles told anyone anything). I couldn't help it. I mean, I still love her, but she looked completely silly, and it felt good to have my partner on the embarrassing end of something for once.
Unsurprisingly, Skadi started to giggle too, but surprisingly it wasn't for the reasons I expected. A large shadow started to loom over me before I heard Ryouta's voice, who proceeded to grab me before I even had a chance to react, lift me up (and somehow avoided crushing my puny lungs and/or spine in the process) and toss me in as well. Everything went dark as I hit the water headfirst, before I scrambled up, and fixed up my glasses, before I started to shiver a bit, wrapping my arms around myself. I didn’t think it would be that cold. My clothes stuck to my body like glue and my hair was similarly all over my face, and dripping like crazy.
Muffled chuckles started to emanate from Skadi, before she burst into heavy, hearty laughter at our expense, any remaining lingering sense of disappointment over the battle that Valt hadn’t cleared up yet withering and dying in an instant. Just a few seconds later, I found I burst out into sheer, uncontrollable laughter too, and I didn’t care. As far as we were concerned, we both looked completely ridiculous, and Skadi’s laughter and high spirits was practically like a merciless parasite to me; wrapping it’s jaws around my neck and flat out refusing to let go.
We were so caught up in our laughter, we completely failed to notice that Valt and a now shirtless Ryouta had also jumped into the lake without warning, a fresh splash of water running over us again. Our laughter stopped momentarily, before it started anew, and harder than before. And to be honest with you, I don’t think I ever laughed this hard before while playing with Isaac as a kid. It was just that fun for the both of us.
By the time we calmed down, and our laughter slowed to a bit of calmer chucking and the odd hiccup (the latter courtesy of me) Valt had approached Skadi, admitting to having grown a liking to the both of us, and offering to take her in as her disciple. Despite Ryouta pointing out Valt’s persistence and how we could say a firm ‘no’, if we didn’t want to, Skadi had immediately turned to me. This prospect looked really salivating in her eyes: after all, she made a vow to protect me when we became partners. And after the trauma of Arkadimon incident, she swore to become stronger, to prevent something like that from ever happening again, and to prove to the world she could be a great hero. Skadi didn’t hesitate, turning to me and asking, ”Kenny, should I do it?”
I just smiled, ”Of course, Skadi. It’s not like he’s going to forcibly separate us when he takes you under his wing. I mean, we’re still going to be together, and I’m more than sure we still need each other, no matter what we face in the near future, thick or thin. And besides, Valt’s right. You could learn quite a thing or two from him. He does seem to be a really good teacher for you, actually, and as you said earlier, if you never try, you’ll never know. And, to be honest,” I shot an approving glance at Ryouta, ”it’d be a great excuse to hang out with you and Valt a little bit more.” I have to admit, despite coming from different walks of life, Ryouta and Valt had grown on us in just an alarming amount of time. After all, you can’t really bring yourself to hate someone who has a friendly spar with you, then throws you into a lake, only to join you like 5 seconds later without warning, making you burst out into laughter.
In the span of a microsecond, Skadi quickly paddled up to me, and threw her arms around me, squealing ”Thank you!” I just chuckled lightly and wrapped my arms around her in return, ruffling her hair as I did. Pulling away, I just let her approach Valt, whom she looked upon him with an approving glance, ”It’s settled then! We accept your offer… Senpai.”

Laughter, we all laughed. That was the sort of silliness that you had no idea what's funny about it, but you're just laughing anyway. It's fun, it releases us from stresses, and you know, it just make us happy in way more than one. Speaking of, separating?
"Oh hell, no no no, I'm not separating you two. Actually what I'll do is completely reverse of that. I'm going to make you two an unit that can depend on each other. Kenny, I'm not telling you to toss yourself to danger, but I'm going to train you too so Skadi can fight with your backup while you know where you should step in, where you should retreat, while keep being her second pair of eyes. That's why it's important for us to train you... well, I won't train you until your beef like this guy over here... heh." Valt told the two.
"C'mon, enough about my body already. I was far thinner you know!"
"Oh hell yes, you were just someone with visible abs and a bit of a bicep, not a big one, just like a normal highschooler... until somehow Digital World took you."
"Pft, hey, if you want to hang out with us, Kenny, that's totally cool," I replied "We're pretty much just special train conductors, which are pretty much glorified mailmen I guess. If you want a ride or something like that just give us a call. We just happened to be rarely in Digital World because... well, I admit college exam is just next year... and I don't really have any career of choice in mind... it kinda weights me. Well, that's talk for other time!"
And looks like Valt got his third disciple huh? He gently fistbumped Skadi--err Hoofbump? "Well then, I'm looking forward training you two, heh heh! I'll definitely make you a hero!"

Valt had proposed to us that, through his training, I would be able to fight alongside Skadi as well, to play as a sort of 'back-up' for her in the heat of combat. On the outside, I smiled and listened to every word Valt said to us, but on the inside, I felt a little off: Arkadimon was our first true battle as tamer and Digimon, and while I did try to defend ourselves, it had not gone swimmingly. If Skadi hadn't digivolved in the heat of battle, I think we would've died. Thank God, Buddha and Arceus above that his little quip about Ryouta's beefiness and the results made me chuckle a little bit.
Ryouta told me that he was keen to hang out with us, but to our surprise, they were actually mail train conductors, and he was more likely to be in the real world because of an upcoming college exam the following year. But still, being able to hang out with him was going to be cool, whenever training with Valt or not. "Well, in that case," I responded, as I held Skadi in my arms, "I'm sure we can still catch up over Tamernet. Y'know, so we can schedule our training sessions together, or if we just wanna hang out, as friends. I'm DrMothman, and Skadi's goatkid50."
When Valt held out a fistbump for Skadi, you bet that she willingly took it on board and fistbumped him back. For being a teensy-tiny talking lamb, she she had a lot of energy inside of her. "And I'm- we're looking forward to training with you soon!" But there was still the matter of scheduling the training. Of course, life would have to get in the way, and despite the Digital World's wonky sense of time, I'd still have to schedule between that and work, and Skadi was taking that into consideration, "Say, what days are good for you? Kenny's open around Thursday to Sunday, human world time, so maybe we can plan our schedule around that! Maybe we can do it around next Thursday, if you want, we'll have plenty of time, then."
Once we got our answer, it was time for me and Skadi to go home. Dad wouldn't be back for a bit, and I had to go shower anyways later tonight, we were going out, after all. "Anyways, Ryouta, we outta get going now. I'm going out tonight with dad for dinner back in Shibuya. See you soon, OK?" Skadi looked at me with a little grin. I think she wanted me to approach Ryouta one last time. So I did, copying Valt's example to fistbump Ryouta if he wanted to, while Skadi attempted to do the same with Valt, before pulling ourselves out of the lake, and getting out, me having to shield myself while chuckling as Skadi shook herself off like a wet fluffy puppy. Turning to the duo one last time (for now), we both waved our goodbyes, Skadi bouncing and waving enthusiastically as she did so, before walking off, still dripping wet from our short time in the lake.
"Bye Valt!" Skadi cried cheerfully as she waved, "I'll see you soon for training, yeah?" I only chuckled to myself as she did. Skadi was practically my personal ambassador for the world of Digimon at this point, and where in the past, I would have shut myself out of things, for fear of being rejected or laughed at, Skadi would practically force me into doing those things, and you know what? I was perfectly OK with that. Skadi had this sort of 'magic' inside of her that allowed me to expand my horizons and change my perspective, and frankly, that was what I felt I needed.
By this time, Ramona had completely fallen asleep on the bench from when the battle first started, Digivice still tightly gripped in hand as she napped. I quickly nudged her away, as she slowly forced herself up. Taking the Digivice and the cube back, I opened the Digital Gate, and as we walked through to get back home to my bedroom, to take a shower to freshen up for tonight, we gave one last friendly wave to Ryouta and Valt... for now.
Hopefully, dad wouldn't know the real reason the carpet was dripping wet by the time he got back. [EXIT]

Tamernet eh? I'm definitely not against that.
"Sure, my Tamernet handle is "PZ:RyouRyou". Valt is "PZ:VforValt". Usually the handle of PZ: is kind of what my group of childhood friends used as their handlename. it's kind of our habit to use it to this moment, heh... Mmmm, I'm free around... I guess I need better schedule, but honestly I'm almost all the time here in Digital World unless there is a group study with my friends. Let's see... Saturday is a no go for me because I often use that day to have group study sessions with friends... Friday is probably my "rest day", so not really good for full training. Probably just gonna help you train and hang out rather than actually train together. Sunday is better because usually I'm always here all the time. Wednesday is where I usually just spend my day in Digital World until time to go to school next day. My parents already know about Digital World and they just let me be."
I'm a bit amused at the offer for fistbump. It's not that I'm against it, but usually people rarely do that to me, probably because I'm intimidating. But either way, this is great. I returned the gesture happily. "Yeah, spending time with your parents are great. Soonish is probably a stretch, but I guess time flows faster in real world, hah hah~ Well, then, catch you two later!"
"Yeah, I'll train you two great then! Make sure to contact us, we'll get to you quickly!"
...Unfortunately, while they have the luxury to end the training now, not so with me. I ended up fighting with Gam-shisho for another three hours nonstop... It's at that time that I understood, when human are absolutely driven to win, they'll probably keep going until their body gave out. Well, in my case, only to point of real exhaustion... I'm sure I'll be good in two days or something... eugh.
