I'll admit, I was never much of a sporty person growing up. I wasn't ever really good in P.E., and I could swim, but more at a casual pace to avoid drowning. But I was a sucker for the NRL in my childhood. When me and dad had the chance, he would take me out to see a Sydney Roosters game, and more often than not, found myself caught up in the excitement of the moment. But other than that, that was the closest thing I ever got to following sports myself. (And if you ask me, the Parramatta Eels still suck major ass) But if you told me my physical prowess would be outclassed by a tiny talking scruffy haired anthropomorphic lamb, I would've laughed you off until a while ago. But now? Well, today on my little excursion to the Digital World, Skadi was homing her skills in the Spartan Training Grounds, taking the time to grow a little stronger thanks to her assigned trainer, a TiaLudomon named Cassius, a Champion-level Digimon clad in dark blue armour. Me and my friend, Ramona (currently in her Champion level form, Kabuterimon) watched as the practice battle took place. Quickly running up to Cassius, Skadi's horns glowed a bright white as she cried out "Ramming Headbutt!", running headfirst over to the robotic wolfman, before jumping into the air, aiming to hit the forehead of the wolf armour. Immediately, Cassius held out a shield-arm right in front of him to block the attack, where her head bumped into him. I did read somewhere that rams and goats have this sort of fluid in their foreheads that allow their skulls to absorb painful blows like that. I'm not sure if this applies to Valaismon, but Skadi flew back down to the ground, feet first, while the TiaLudomon pulled the shield away from his face. He walked over to Skadi where she landed, as me and Ramona came over, a fair distance between the facing off Valaismon and TiaLudomon. She looked up at him, while the TiaLudomon looked at her sternly, but neutrally. "Skadi," Cassius started, "I like how you're passionate in the heat of combat, you do seem to posses a good amount of strength for a Rookie level, and the desire to the protect the ones you love is admirable, but..." He leaned down to get onto Skadi's level, and started to put her hand around her, "Passion, strength, and love alone isn't going to win much battles. If you let that passion get to your head, it can easily cloud your judgement, leave you open to the opponent, and cost you not only your life, but even your friend's lives as well."
I sighed a little sadly as I heard that. That memory of the Arkadimon attack was still fresh in my memory, and Skadi's too, if her disappointed face was anything to go by. Ramona must have noticed, as she pat my back, "Anything wrong?" She asked me. "Uh, no, no. Nothing's wrong, Ramona." I lied. I didn't want to worry anyone here too much, but I knew Skadi was only trying her hardest to protect me. I admit I was a little premature of my judgement at the time. For being a so-called 'Rookie' level, Arkadimon, physically and mentally, stung like hell. And ever since then, Skadi wanted to grow stronger, wanting to be the best partner Digimon she could be for me. Meanwhile, Skadi responded to Cassius, trying her hardest to explain herself, "But I'm just doing the best I can for Kenny. Ever since the Arkadimon incident, I've been wanting to get stronger, to make sure he'll never get hurt ever again. I... I just don't want to lose him, that's all." She tilted her head down and looked sadly at the floor. I just stood there and said nothing, not willing to put my foot in my mouth. "I understand," Cassius had a more sympathetic tone in his voice, "But if you let yourself get a little too reckless, it could lead to untold consequences. If you can manage to keep your cool, and not let stress get to your head, then you may have a better chance to protect the ones you love." He stood up again, facing all of us this time. "Speaking of, it's best you take a break for now. You do seem a little exhausted from the training."
"Oh, uh, OK Cassius." Skadi replied, as he turned and walked away. As I saw him walk off, she turned over to me and ran over. I leaned down on the ground onto her level, arms outstretched, as she jumped into my arms for a hug. "Skadi, I just want you to know that I'm honestly proud of everything you do." I chuckled slightly, "Heh. Shame you had to get stuck to a Tamer like me."
"Shame?" Skadi replied, "I'm just proud of having a supportive, and caring Tamer like you, pal. I'm not just getting stronger, I'm getting stronger with you." She happily nuzzled my cheeks, making me blush slighty. "Aw, Skadi. Don't be such a dag." I joked, as we pulled away, and I stood up. "But yeah, Cassius is right. You do need a bit of a break. After all, you don't want to wear yourself out in case a bloodthirsty Digimon comes our way.""I'm fine!" Skadi replied, "And don't you worry, no matter what happens, I'll always make sure you stay safe and protect you from any dangers that come your way, rain or shine!" Her arms were akimbo, and a proud grim adorned her face. I happily leaned down again, and ruffled her hair, making her giggle. Speaking of 'coming our way', footsteps were heard coming to the campsite. As far as we knew, I was the only human here right now. It just felt weird to me, seeing that there were plenty of humans who roamed the Digital World. Weird that this place didn't really have much people right now... yet. Skadi uses Ramming Headbutt on Cassius the TiaLudomon as part of a training session. Disregarding the fact that TiaLudomon is a Champion and Skadi is a mere Rookie, TiaLudomon is bulky as h*ck, so it barely did anything. Ramming Headbutt: Runs up to the opponent, with her tiny horns glowing white, and headbutts them with great force. This attack is capable of sending Rookies about her size flying a bit, and even larger Rookies and smaller Champions can be pushed back slightly. (1 post cooldown)

"Training again finally on spartan training ground, Aniki? Well, I guess a bit of a variation won't hurt,"
"It's more that if I spar everyday with you I'd probably give both of us a certain unhealthy habit, Valt," I answered. "You know that as a fighter you need to get as many experience as possible. Different outcomes, different possibilities, different tactics- "Different attacks, method of how they circle their moves, yeah." he cut me. Sheesh. Even if my partner is a bit cheeky I can't really get angry with him.
Back in the past, Valt--then Ryu, was not Vmon as he is now. He was a Dracomon... and I'm not the massive guy I am either. Everytime I looked at photoes of me and 'Ryu' together... all I can think is how this sweet dragon somehow could turn into slightly punkish one with a bit of a sass. It felt like a kid that has knocked the door of puberty. Well, it's not that I mind. In the end, he's still him. My partner is still the old him. His memories intact....
...But I'm not... "me".
I have been in Digital World for three years apparently, since fifteen years old... I was locked here in this world for a year. If I were to come to Digital World immediately after school, that would means at least I spent at least three years Digital World time. Counting one year is equal to seven digital world time, I have roughly spent about sixteen years in Digital World, seven continuously, and the rest with me jumping to real world and do my real world life business.
And I have lost those sixteen years of time.
Memories of events froom the past, experience of past battles, the training I took to fight together with Valt... all of it was gone. I didn't remember anyone who I had past with after I have became a chosen. It's weird to walk and have someone greeted me, but I don't remember who the hell are they. A lot of conman has tried to pull this shit with me, pretending to be friends, only to try to curry favors with me.
Valt of course stopped that from actually happening, but it still annoyed me to this points.
So why am I here today? It's true that I wanted to train, but at the same time, I just want to trace old memories. I haven't told Valt that. I'd rather not. I know he hides something from me... something about a person that's no longer here... a person? It might be two... it might be three, maybe a group, I don't know... but in the end, Spartan Training Ground felt like an important place to me. It's been... several times huh, since I was here...
Of course, since I lost my memories, that is, not before. I had no idea how many times have I been here before.
When I stepped my foot inside the settlement, I was greeted by some of the training ground's guards. As usual, I noticed, Valt would look a bit demure, but quickly tried to mask it with his usual cheerfulness.
...Come to think of it, usually when it comes to Spartan Training Ground, the visitors are mostly Digimons and humans tends to be just sitting on the sideline...
Well, not me though. I stepped the tip of my shoe lightly on tip of a wooden rod on the ground. It catapulted, exactly to my hand. A Dinohumon instructor raised his hand in greeting upon seeing that sight.
"Here to train again, lad?"
"Something like that. Not too many humans today?"
"Just one over there," he pointed at a person beside a Kabuterimon. "I guess there are not too many humans interested in fighting with Digimons. As far as I know only you and that kiddo back then who came with you once regularly spar with Digimons... hell, I think that kid's far more intent on coming here than you?"
"...Tetsu sure is hardcore, huh..." Valt commented. I only can smile bitterly. Told that kid to take care of himself, but eh...
"Well then, Gam-Shisho, would you mind training me in the way of the sword again?"
"Should be easy. I'm free anyway. What do you want to do, Valt?"
"Well, I think I'll go over there..." Valt pointed at a bleacher. "I'll be doing my usual stuff..."
...That usual stuff is... as expected... He quickly pulled a sign. It reads "A bored Vmon looking for a nice spar for warmup. A chat is welcome too."
And as usual, he grinned and plopped his butt on the wooden log.

Normally, a human wandering around the Digital World with a Digimon would've gotten much attention from others, unless they were the odd 'human-hating' sort, individual or group (see: the residents of ElDoradimon, at least according to Ramona), but as the footsteps got louder, we instinctively turned around to see not one, but 2 figures in view: a very muscular, spiky black haired boy in his late teens, and a Veemon, not too dissimilar to Levi, apart from the muscles and scars that covered his body. He looked like he could snap my own spine in two just by his own physical prowess alone. And the second the duo stepped in, the second plenty of the guards greeted him, including Cassius.
While Skadi and Ramona looked upon the apparent Tamer with a keen sense of interest, I felt a little pang of jealousy inside of me, although it wasn't noticeable to the average bystander. I never had that sort of respect while in school, being written off by teachers and students as a nobody, incapable of succeeding at anything, and yet, here this guy was, simply waltzing in with his Veemon like he owned the place.
He must have been a regular here.
Anyways, as the boy flung the rod on the ground clean into his palm, he chatted to the Dinohumon. My Japanese skills had been improving ever since I moved to Shibuya, but I still feel they need some work. What I managed to get out of the conversation was that there weren't much humans here that day, and that he and this other guy *I couldn't catch his name) were the only two who happened to fight with the Digimon here, before the boy asked for some training.
I tilted my head in confusion, as I turned to Skadi and Ramona, "Wait, hold up, am I hearing that right? Does this guy really willing spar with Digimon?" Humans fighting dangerous animals wasn't nothing new to me; for example, take the late Steve Irwin, but Digimon were a completely different kettle of fish altogether. Good example: Skadi could punch the ground to summon a powerful earthquake/rock spire combo, and that was a mere Rookie level.
"Apparently." Ramona replied, "but that's normally extremely rare outside of Spirit Wielders. Most of the time, humans have to rely on their Digimon partners, or barring that, whatever they can use to repel them. But look at you," She proceeded to elbow me in the ribs with just one with her many arms, "I bet you couldn't even beat a Sukamon in an arm wrestling contest!" She let out a hearty laugh at my expense, but neither me or Skadi were laughing. I just glared at her in anger, and folded my arms.
"Shut up, Ramona." I grumbled, but that didn't deter her laughter.
"Lay off him, Ramona!" Almost immediately, Skadi came to my defence, walking up to Ramona and looking at the man sized creepy crawly in the eye, "I'll have you know that when we were attacked by a wild Arkadimon, he actually did all he could to save me while I was still my In-Training form. If anything, I owe him my life for what he did! Apologise to him, now!" The Kabuterimon's laughter quickly devolved into
"Geeze, fine. I'm sorry, Kenny." She said, sounding annoyed, like if we were the ones who said something wrong. But frankly, I didn't care. I just smiled happily and at Skadi. It felt good to have somebody be at my side, even if was my own Digimon partner.
"Thank you." Skadi crossed her arms, and held her head up high. "I'm always happy to do anything for you, pal!" She looked at me with her own smile.
As the Veemon pulled out a sign seemingly from hammerspace, seeking a warmup spar and/or a mere chat before sitting himself down on a log, Skadi turned over to me, "Should we go talk to him?" She asked. "He seems interesting. And besides, I don't think having a little spar would hurt."
I just shrugged, "Hey, I don't see why not. Just don't get yourself killed, OK?" I leaned down to pat her back, "If you need me, I'll be talking to Gaston over there. Ramona, stay with me. I don't want to be a sitting duck, what with all these monsters going around."
"Thanks Kenny! I'll see you in a minute!" And with that, Skadi gave me a quick wave, before running over to where the Veemon sat. She stood face to face with him, with plucky determination and a confident smile on her face. "Hey there! The name's Skadi, and I'm a Valaismon" She said, extending her arm for a handshake with the Veemon, "I heard you were looking for a friendly scuffle. I'm happy to say I'll be taking you up on that offer!" She did her signature boastful pose, arms akimbo, chest out. It was made clear as day that Skadi wasn't the one to back down from a potential challenge.
As I stood up, I just smiled at Skadi, as I whispered quietly to myself, "Attagirl, Skadi." We then took off to walk over to the late-teen and Dinohumon, "As for you, Ramona, I would appreciate it if you didn't call me a wimp, thank you very much." I still felt a little bit bitter from her remarks.
"I said I was sorry." Ramona grunted in response.
A few seconds later, we approached the muscular stick wielding man, as I waved to grab his attention and called out, "Hey! Muscle boy! Can I talk to you for a few minutes? My partner wants to have a friendly duel with yours!"

"Well then, as usual, let's begin with you-know-what." Gam-shiso offered his fist. So... how many percent should I use today? 40? 50? 60? I settled at around 65% and bumped his fist.
Adult stage is not a joke. Tons and tons of weights are like a ricesack to them. They can easily move that much of a weight like it's nothing. Needless to say, a full strike would be very fatal. It can spell my own death. However, Gam-shisho is an experienced trainer. He can adjust his strength based on his opponent. Upon noticing that ability, Valt told me that Gam-shisho is the best trainer for me. I agree. His awareness to his own strength and the way he control it is above most Digimon. Because of this, he can train me in way of sword effectively. It's especially hard to find someone who's very experienced while at the same time have a certain level of height. Gam-sensei usually filled that role, but I also often spar with a Strabimon named Ziet for someone slightly smaller than me.
This is important, so that I can deal with various people and their tactics. But even then I would say I'm half baked. Valt reminded me that I have trained in way of Iaido. I can't imagine I had that ability, but that's what my partner who have been with me for years told me... so I just gotta believe, right? But the main focus of today's training is not just a swordstyle. It's how to fight as Imperialdramon Paladin Mode... in case of one day I got to that point.
"Remember, that form does not fight with just sword, but also martial arts and gun. How would you like to emulate it?"
"I got Ki Arts."
Ki arts, it's a toy that apparently can shot out Hadouken and whatnots. I found them to be extremely helpful, as not only they can act as flashbomb but also as simulation of how to attack. Gam-sensei obviously have it too, because training me requires him to avoid named attacks after all.
"Alright then. Strap your armors. We'll begin our training."
I do exactly that. Being regular have its perk in a way. I know where they stored their armors and whatnots, but at the same time I also have one personally made for me from the armorer. I was starting to wear it when someone called out to me.
"...Hmn? Oh, hi. Can I help you?"
Friendly duel? Ah, that... Valt was approached by other Digimon. Thankfully he wasn't far so I could hear clearly some of the conversation.
Valt meanwhile seem to be interested. "Hou? An eager newbie~?"
As usual, Valt's teacher complex began to show itself. I feel that... it's fine for him to treat newbies as more or less equal to him, but for some reason his bad habit is that lately he always want to be a senpai to anyone younger than he is.
...To be honest while that's not wrong, it's not right either, Valt... His way is a little bit... overbearing.
Valt grabbed the... what's is it actually? Sheep? Goat? I need to pick up my biology book again. Whatever it is, he grabbed the Digimon's hoof and shook it firmly. "Name's Valt, I'm just your regular Vmon I guess." Valt shrugged and smiled. "New here?" he asked yet again.
"Ryouta, if you want to talk, you better move your body at it--"
It didn't take Gam-sensei to finish his warning. Suddenly I found myself narrowly dodging a stab aimed at my face, right between my eyes too! Sure it's cushioned, but that gonna smart a lot!
"HEY!"
"A warrior's greatest enemy is when they let their guard down. Now, talk and dance. Don't bite your tongue. Make sure you're able to multitask while battling!" This time around I'm more ready, but definitely not ready to talk and cross swords. The clacks were audible, and honestly, parrying blows of someone who can wield a longsword, as long as I'm tall that is, with one hand is damn hard. He have the speed, I have the stability, and it's rough defending against the successive slashes upon slashes.
"You damn spartan instructor!"
"Well that's in my job title~"

Questions still raced through my mind as the muscular man proceeded to settle on a training method with the Dinohumon (named 'Gam-saoirse', or something, I couldn't quite catch that). Not going to lie to you, this guy looked as if he could wrestle a fully-grown adult crocodile and win, with just one arm tied behind his back, to boot. I swear, if he could, he'd probably be able to snap Gam's neck in one clean move, and walk out without a single scratch borne upon his body. And yet, they wanted to spar at just 65% (of strength)? With his physique? Even Ramona seemed pretty surprised, as she whispered to me, "Huh, you'd think for someone that strong, they'd go the full monty, and go all out." Weird enough for a fellow Champion level to tell me this, considering that to a normal person, Champion level Digimon tend to be absolutely dangerous threats. I still never forgot about Akari telling me about the night she nearly succumbed to one herself. Or the Arkadimon incident. Yes it was just a Rookie, but God did those claws hurt like hell.
The Dinohumon told Steve Irwin here to equip his armour before training when I called out to him, telling him about Skadi's keenness to duel with his Veemon. I said "Uh, yeah. As I was saying, my partner wants to have a friendly spar with your Veemon over there. She seems pretty keen." Speaking of keenness, the Veemon seemed to share the same sentiment, shaking Skadi's hand. Skadi didn't seem to mind being called a 'newbie' either, a goofy grin on her face, showing her eagerness emanating from her body, making me feel this little warm tenderness inside of me.
God I really love that dag.
The Veemon introduced himself to Skadi (and indirectly me) as Valt, calling himself a regular Veemon. We both already knew what a Veemon was, but 'regular' my foot, he was more muscular than Levi the magic bag-travelling Veemon, and had scars covering his body. She broke off the handshake as he asked whenever she was new here, in which she replied, "Yeah, well, my buddy's new here, he's right over there," She pointed at where I stood, in which I smiled and waved to him, "We figured we needed a little bit more training, so I could protect my partner further, so we decided to do some sparring. I just finished one with Cassius just a while ago" She pointed to the TiaLudomon, waxing his armour from the scratches and grime accumulated onto him. Obviously this would probably raise a few questions, like 'What are you, a Rookie, sparring with a Champion, and one coated in seemingly impenetrable armour of all things?' I was sure me and Skadi could answer this very easily.
Before either me or Skadi could say anything further, and with only a verbal warning, Gam thrusted his sword aiming to strike him directly in the face. My heart started pounding like crazy, and I gasped in shock, while Ramona and Skadi could only look on, agape. I let out a series of panicked 'oh god's as the boy dodged it it by a hair's breadth. Luckily, we all calmed down as we saw him dodge it safely. While Manus McMuscles yelled out in protest, Gam would go and call him out for leaving himself open to attack. But really, Gam should've called me out for calling out and distracting him. He went back to his duel with Gam, parrying his longsword in their little duel. "Oh. I'm sorry..." I told the man, my tone seeping a little bit, "I guess you're a little busy right now. I'll talk to you later, when you're done." I walked off back to where Skadi and Valt were, Ramona following me once again. I leaned down to the Veemon's level to talk to him, right next to Skadi. "Uh, sorry about what happened right there, Valt." I said a little sheepishly, "I didn't know your partner was a little busy right now."
"I gotta admit though," Skadi added with a shrug and a grin, before turning over to Gam and the muscled boy, "Burly here's got some serious moves. I'm sure he'll be fine."
"Heh. I'm sure he will." I replied, as I looked over with her. I turned back to Valt to properly introduce myself to him. "Anyways, I don't think I've introduced myself properly. I'm Kenneth O'Hara, but you can call me Kenny, everybody basically does, anyways." I said with a chuckle, "And that goat... ram.. thing over there is Skadi the Valaismon. She's my partner, and my friend." Upon saying that, Skadi came over, and threw her arms over me for a hug, while I scooped her close to me with one free arm, and blushed slightly, "She's... pretty affectionate towards me." With my free arm, I pointed up to Ramona, "And that's Ramona. She's a friend of ours."
Ramona just lifted her arm, "Hey."
Me and Skadi quickly broke off the hug as she talked to Valt again. "As I said, we're here for some training too. And just recently, me and Kenny found this Digimental of Friendship the other day while we were out. I do want to give it a little test run. I mean, I get to turn into a dragon for this one! Isn't that sweet~?" The prospect of digivolving into Weatherdramon again seemed to clearly excite her, judging by her excited expression and clutching her fists in glee. Sure, we both knew it was merely just an armour, but it still did feel cool, nonetheless.

"That much is to conserve energy," I heard Gam-shishou answered to... a question that sadly I can't hear. "Go on full power for 10 minutes spar for about 3 sets, you'll just harm yourself. Human is far more brittle than Digimon. You're mistaken if you think human can keep 10 minutes of high adrenaline going without break. Ryouta, tell me, how long does usually human fight for?"
"Errrr... In tournament? Kickboxing is like 3 minutes of 5 rounds with 2 minutes break in between." I answered
"As you can see, 100% is unwise. We also would have to consider about bruises and other related wounds which obviously would decrease performances. If Ryouta goes all out... hmmm... Can you fight for 10 minutes?"
"If I don't dodge a lot I probably can."
"...Yeah, not good."
"Sorry to disappoint but I'm just a strong guy, not really some epic superhuman" I commented, chuckling wryly. "Human have their limits no matter hard we trained. Sure we might got a bit of leeway in term of not using doping because apparently our body kinda get... affected by digital world data. But I think I'm still a human anyway. I think if anyone spent enough time in digital world they'll kinda end up like me if they trained seriously? The matter is just discipline, dedication, and patience. You don't need any drugs, just supplements really."
"Then again you trained out of reason to survive," Gam-shisho teased.
"And I will survive anyway."
The guy mentioned to his Digimon and that she wanted to have a friendly spar. "Go for it," I answered. "Valt might be a bit obnoxiously... uh... how to say, he got this complex where he always want to help out what he thinks are still 'green', regardless of whether that's true or not. If it get obnoxious just tell him to cut it out. He'll back down. Still, that guy had... about sixteen years of experience on his belt? So it kind of... yeah."
Valt meanwhile grinned. "Cassius? Ah, the Tia Ludomon? Good choice. Training to fight with tanky type? Your spirit is great, I like that. That's a good mentality to have indeed," he nodded approvingly. "Hey I like you already. A responsible Digimon is a good Digimon."
Sadly looks like both of them are not used to... Gam-shisho's 'trainer's love'. "No no no," I tried to dismiss their concern and apology, but it's hard considering that I'm on the receiving end of the assault here. Thankfully the more he go on with that speed, the more I can see an opening. The moment the sword rebounded, I used both of my hand to push it slightly, then slashed at Gam-shisho's waist. He of course dodged it. But I'm not going to give him time to recover. I stopped my swing before it goes on full arc and instead attempted to stab on between his eyes.
Still, he anticipated it. I clicked my tongue.
"Some revenge?"
"You know it!"
While now I gone on offensive, looks like Valt took this as a cue to calm the rest. "That's just Gam's brand of love, you see. I'd do the same if I train him. Multitasking is an important ability to have when you're battling. If you have tunnel vision on battle, you'll eventually forgetting about everything around you... it could end up fatal. That's why Gam always made it a point to talk while fighting like that. Pretty sure around this time Aniki already quite used to it if he gets into battle mood."
"Thanks about the comment on the moves," I replied to the Digimon's praise. I just dodged Gam-shisho's downward slash by twisting my body slightly and aimed a horizontal slash to his flank. "but I don't think 'burly' really suited me." He sadly dodged me again. I clicked my tongue, but not before I shoot him with a reimagination of Positron Laser, which hits him squarely. The blast obviously did no damage, as its just toy after all, but it's enough t make him retreat.
"Nice move, you're learning!"
"Nice to meet ya! Kenny and Skadi eh. Name's Valt, over there is my partner and big bro sort of guy, Noguchi Ryouta. Armor eh? I think that's fine. Ya want to do armor and armor or something? Or do you want a slow hike like fighting at our current form then ascend to Armor?"

For God-knows-whatever reason, Gam overheard whatever Ramona whispered to me, and proceeded to answer her little remark, informing us that full power on a human for over 10 minutes at a time was clearly not a good idea. Ramona started to grumble to herself, hoping that nobody heard her again, "Well, excuse me for being impressed by how crazy strong that human looks..." I had to nudge her with my elbow to shut her up, lest Gam overhear her again.
"Ramona! Ixnay on digging yourself deeper than you have already done." I whispered to her, "He's a professional. Just please put your pride aside, for once." She complied, before muttering even quieter to the point of incomprehensibility. The clearly ripped man then implied that while with enough time and training, especially in the Digital World, anybody would get this (crazy good, IMO) physique, he was after all, still human. "I mean, shame, really." I replied, turning back to the sparring man, "You look like you could beat him at full strength in 10 seconds flat." Having grown up around the time Steve Irwin, the famed crocodile hunter who, despite lacking the pecs of this guy, treated crocodile wrestling as merely second nature, he didn't seem so keen on his own skills.
After telling him about Skadi's intention to spar with the Veemon, Valt, he gave his blessing, before informing us about his habits. 16 years of experience? I had only known Skadi for just a while, and as basically a hatchling, to boot. But she was crazy strong, from what I could tell, just ask Arkadimon. I gulped slightly on what we were getting ourselves into, but I spoke clearly, "Oh yeah, that sounds good. I'm sure Skadi would really need the experience from an expert."
Meanwhile (surprisingly enough), instead of questioning Skadi about the TiaLudomon practice, he complimented her instead, calling her 'spirit' great and herself a 'responsible Digimon'. Skadi blushed slightly at that, and rubbed her hand behind her head, "Aw, it's nothing." She said, "Just thought that I needed to beef myself up, is all. I'm gonna be a big, strong Digimon one day, and I'm going to be a great hero and protect the Digital World from evil Digimon!" Her spirit started to build, mainly thanks to Valt's words, and so her eagerness too.
But after that scary longsword close call, the muscular boy tried to deter the blame from me, even after I apologised and walked away to where Valt and his little sign sat. But I was pretty sure I was at fault. "Um, that's OK, man! Sorry about that." I said. I still felt like shit for letting this happen, but it was true. At a young age, I was often at fault for things that weren't at school, forcing me to apologise for whatever I did wrong. Now I tended to apologise for anything I felt I did wrong, even when people pointed out things that they felt weren't my fault.
Valt told us that it was merely just Gam's little modus operandi at play, his 'brand of love' akin to the Veemon's own. How'd he do the same to Matt McMuscles right there, and how multitasking was a must in battle, lest they be left open. All of us looked pretty surprised by that.
"Wait a minute, you mean you literally fight your own tamer to train him?" I asked, my head spinning a bit from that statement. The closest thing I ever had to a proper fight with my Digimon was that impromptu pie fight I had with her, and that was just one paper plate and a can of whipped cream, not flat out combat. "I mean, I wouldn't blame you, you seem like a pretty good teacher, at least according to your tamer."
"And me!" Skadi piped up, still relishing the 'great spirit' compliment like if Valt told her the location of some lost treasure, "I can't wait to show him what I know!" I just ruffled her hair in response.
"Woah, calm down there, girl. Save your energy for the actual battle, ok?" She just smiled at me and nodded.
Skadi's little remark about the Dinohumon-sparring-human's skills seemed to grab the latter's attention with a bit of kudos, albeit with a comment about the burly comment, as he continued fighting the Dinohumon. Only for him to, after missing a flank slash, shoot a laser beam out of nowhere to hit the Dinohumon clean in the chest, only for him to somehow shrug it off, like if he lightly poked him, but got him retreat anyway and sweet God, Buddha and Arceus what's going on? My jaw dropped in surprise, while Ramona and Skadi could only watch, only blinking.
"Buh- wha?" I cried out in shock, throwing my hands in the air, "You, laser beam, he- did nothing, what, where, laser beam what!? I thought you said you were an ordinary human! Ordinary humans don't just shoot laser beams from out of nowhere what's going on!?"
Skadi was just as lost as I was, "Your guess is as good as mine." She said, deadpan in tone.
The Veemon introduced himself to us as Valt, and told us the name of his tamer, one Ryota Noguchi, to boot, before bringing up our desire to fight with armour. Skadi turned to me, "Hey Kenny, what do you think we should go with for this?"
I just shrugged at her, "Eh, why don't we go with the armours for now. We do need a little bit more practice with Weatherdramon, I think." She nodded at me, and gave me a thumbs up.
"Good thinking, pal!" She turned back to Valt, "I think we'll settle on the armours for now. Like Kenny said. And besides, great minds do think alike, you know?" Her arms were akimbo, her chest was puffed, and that keen, Skadi-brand of confidence was apparent for all to see. "So how 'bout it?" She ran over to an empty field near to where Valt sat and waved happily, eager to start on the word 'go'.
Meanwhile, Ramona flew over to where she stood, as she remarked, "Don't worry about me. I'll just be sitting out here. Just watching." She took herself a seat on a bench herself to watch the upcoming fight, looking quite relaxed and content.
While I called out to Ryota, again, "Hey, Ryouta, we're ready to go now!" But as I walked over to the bench with Ramona, Skadi had one of her little ideas again, as she started to call out herself.
Oh God, here we go...
"Hey, before we start, how about a friendly bet between us? You see that small pond over there?" She pointed at the shallow pond, large enough to immerse a human or a large Digimon like the Dinohumon, but not large enough to drown them, "Winner gets to throw the loser into the pond! After all, it's pretty hot today, and-"
Quickly, I ran up to her and clamped her mouth shut, before she could say anything further, "Uh, please disregard what she just said. She's just getting a little overconfident, is all." In reality, I didn't have a change of clothes on me, and being tossed into the water, even if it was a little warm today, was a little embarrassing, but Skadi persisted.
"Aw, come on, Kenny!" She insisted to me, "Win or lose, it'll be fun! After all, if we never try, we'll never know!" She seemed pretty keen on the idea, but she was really looking for Ryota and Valt to say something. "How bout you, Valt? Sound good?"

Whoa, a sharp talker aren't she? Geez... Thankfully Gam-shisho handled it far better. "Lookie here... That might be completely unimpressive for us but that is assuming a battle can stretch that long. My data said that the longest human fight ever was for seven hours boxing match. Assuming that one battle was three minutes per round and two minutes break, that's still crazy."
"It was 110 rounds," Valt commented. "However, again that's looking at the fact that Aniki need to use his whole body, dodging blows that, if not for training, would be fatal for normal humans, 10 minutes at full power is REALLY plenty. I think you're giving him too much credit and too little at the same time, heh."
"That or perhaps he had no idea how long he can go for... Mainly because he never tried to fight that long?" now Gam-shisho made a wicked grin at me. Fuck. my. life. "You know? Maybe today we'll just see how long can you fight without a break, hmn? Swim or sink, Ryouta."
"I fucking hate you."
Still on the comment of about 10 second flat neckbreaking, I immediately denied it. "Nay nay nay nay nay. I can probably wrestle with crocs, but an adult stage in 10 seco-- Gam-shisho?" In the middle of denying the claim, I found Gam-shisho thinking pensively.
"....He can actually."
"WHAT!?"
"Just give him sword that can cut some Digimon's neck and stealth ability, I think he can do it."
"Oi oi oi, I don't like where this talk is heading!"
"Aye, let's drop it there."
Expert experience eh... "Just so you know there are no absolute win here, no matter how experienced you are. Digimon's power is limited, and there are types that can hard counter you. When you only have one form, I think that's even more obvious. I think your Digimon have chances to win. However, at the same time you also have chance to lost. Don't worry about the '16 years worth of experience'. I suggest to just have fun, to be honest. You got nothing to lose, only to gain. Same with us. Screw pride or anything. It's learning."
Heh, look at that, ain't the girl dream big? "Yeah, that's great. You should dream big, no matter how impossible it seemed. Just keep pushing forward and soon you'll get what you want. The way might be turbulent, but as long as you keep at it, it won't be hard the slightest."
Kenny's surprise must be amusing for Valt. From the corner of my eyes, as I dodged from more attacks by Gam-shisho, he chuckled. "I guess that sounded a bit too extreme to you guys, huh... But yeah. At first we... how to say, we're as normal as you can be. Human on the backline, Digimon on the frontline. What's wrong with that, right? But it ended up not in our side. We... for lack of better describing word... was betrayed by our own expectation. Digimons tends to go for the human, and if the human cannot defend himself it all will ends in... disaster.
That's what happened to us.
From that point on we just tossed away all semblance of 'traditional' role of human in the backline just issuing orders. Aniki, if he can, will fight beside me, not just as my tactician or my second eyes, but also as fellow fighter."
Heh, someone's eager. Valt gave Skadi a thumbs up. "We'll definitely do it... soon that is."
And there it goes. Even I can't stop snickering at the comments flying behind me. I heard Valt laughing his ass off. Yeah, that would do it, right?
"It's a toy, just a toy. It's called Ki Arts, basically just using data in the atmosphere to form projectile of your liking. This way human can copy Digimon's flashy moves, but it's just scare tactic at best. For sparring like this, it helps a lot. Why? Because not only you can spar with digimon harmlessly. You also can use it to blind their vision."
Ready finally eh?
Sadly I'm not in condition to watch... Gam-shisho said that I should fight til I drop. And honestly? Now it's harder because he started to use Ki arts too. I narrowly dodged a sword wave. That would probably grazed my cheek and draw enough blood if it was real.
What's this, a bet? Valt laughed hard. "Amusing girl you are! Fine, let's go with that, eh?" Not like he won't jump in afterward anyway. "Aniki!"
"Digimental Up!"
The wind that blows behind me, it felt like how it feel to be so close to a really strong gale that could easily lift you. The bright green light was a telltale sign that he has completed his evolution. Valt stood there as a muscular dragon clad in white scale-like armor. leaving very few of his blue parts. His body glowed with green circuit-y pattern that pulses with light.
"Tempestuous Justice, Cardinaldramon!"
It's at this time I felt that the Aeolus Field starting to take effect. Fifty meter radius from Valt felt like an air dome that strengthened wind attacks. If I recall it correctly, they said something about Weatherdramon. Which means this is fight between two weather type dragons huh...

It was a good thing Gam was actually being quite mature about this, most likely borderline biting his tongue lest he call Ramona every word for 'bitch' in the English dictionary and then some, because he managed to keep his cool, and explain a bit about the longest boxing match in history, before proposing to Ryouta about fighting without breaks. You know, if I was him, I'd easily agree with that statement, but I just looked a little startled about that comment. But said nothing, lest Gam suggest something crazier. (Truth be told, I knew I probably wouldn't last 5 seconds against him, no matter what percentage he was at.) Then Ryouta, in a vain attempt to deny my claims, had been interrupted by Gam pointing out how one could pull it off. "Yeah, he's right. This is starting to get a little disturbing..." I agreed with the muscular man. Besides, this was getting a little to dangerously close to home, especially for me. Valt explained to Skadi that there was nothing to worry about for this battle, just for her to have fun, and to learn. This was, for lack of a better term, something we both needed to hear. We just listened carefully, and smiled when he said that. After all, after several stressful incidents we had to endure so far (see: Arkadimon), it was nice to enjoy a nice, friendly battle with a equally friendly tamer. Valt then went on to compliment Skadi after her bold heroism proclamation, telling her to just keep going forward. With Skadi being, well, Skadi, I knew she was going to take it to heart, as she stood proudly and proclaimed "I will, Valt!" I just smiled and patted her head. Valt explained the reason behind why he would often spar with Ryouta: to get him to defend himself properly, and to ensure he could fight alongside him. His comments made me rub my arm awkwardly, and Skadi just looked up at me. Ramona on the other hand, just looked at Ryouta, then at me. That brought up my bad memories inside of me. Skadi had always ragged on and on about how she was going to protect me and be a great hero, but in our first battle together, I couldn't really do much to Arkadimon, I could only buy time for her to keep her safe, and look where that got me. All I could tell to Valt was that, "Oh, yeah. I understand where you're coming from, Valt. Thanks for telling me." I just gave a small smile just to assure I was OK. That thumbs up and keenness on Valt's end didn't go unnoticed. Skadi gave a thumbs up back, showing she was more than ready. My shock concerning the the sudden laser beams was clearly not lost on either Ryouta or Valt, but his snickering was practically drowned out by Valt bursting out into laughter himself, like if they were saying 'yes, it is perfectly normal for humans to fire random laser beams'. I glared a little lightly at Valt, and Skadi was ready to speak her mind, before he explained it was just a harmless projectile, nothing more. I just blinked, before me and Skadi just burst out into laughter ourselves, me rubbing my head awkwardly in turn and Ramona ribbing me while chuckling. "Ehahahahahaha. Sorry, Valt. I'm still trying to get used to, you know, all of this. Like, never before in my life I'd think I'd see humans suddenly fire laser beams completely out of nowhere. Silly me." I just chuckled at my prior act. I admit I was acting a bit silly in my shock. Seems I still have a lot to learn about Digimon and the Digital World. "That's OK, Kenny." Skadi smiled at me, still giggling a bit, "Still, it just goes to show you that the Digital World is still full of surprises. I actually never seen this happen up until now."Finally, it was time to battle. Shame Ryouta wasn't going to watch. To my surprise, Valt accepted the bet willingly. Sure, it was nowhere near as bad as putting your own life on the line, but no matter what he said about how his own experience wouldn't mean much in this battle previously, that proclamation of 16 years worth of it still lingered in my head. "Skadi, I really hope you know what you're doing right now." I just muttered to myself. As Valt called to Ryouta to evolve him to his armour form, strong winds started to hammer the area, before Valt's small but muscular form transformed into a much more beefier version of himself, with white scaley armour and glowing patters over his body - Cardinaldramon. Just as Cardinaldramon declared himself, a giant wind-dome started to cover the area, and subsequently, all of us. Me and Skadi looked in awe at the giant muscular wind drake towering over us, muttering a quiet "Wow..." It was hard to believe that was still Valt at this point. Still, at the very least, Skadi didn't seem too fettered by this, only just turning to me and saying, "Our turn." I subsequently complied, activating the Digimental of Friendship to digivolve Skadi herself, as a bright light engulfed her. Her fluffy cotton body had turned into a decently large cloud, in which a Japanese style sky-blue dragon emerged from it. Her horns were now long and pointy, her body was now long and scaley, the latter trait not unlike Cardinalmon's, she wore a darker blue mask, with a red-and-yellow sun engraved on it, and she held an orb in her left hand, gripping it tightly. Skadi looked at Valt dead in the eyes as she declared herself as, "Weatherdramon, the Electrifying Entity of Friendship! I was going to call myself 'the Storm of Friendship' instead, but I just recently found out that one was taken!" She sounded a little sore on that point, earning a snicker from Ramona. "Hey, you gotta admit, at least 'Electrifying Entity of Friendship' rolls off the tongue a little better than 'Storm of Friendship." I called out. "Point."But there was something I needed to get off my chest, pretty much almost immdiately, "Wait a minute, does that mean if I lose, then that means I'm going to be pushed into the lake myself?" I questioned my wingless wind drake. "Probably." Skadi shrugged, "But as I said, it'll be fun, win or lose! After all, it's all in a bit of fun." She had a goofy smile on her face. And that was pure, unfiltered Skadi right there; this was probably not my idea of 'fun' myself, but time made me soften up to her antics, no matter how silly. And besides, I just smiled to myself; it was certainly better than having to fight to keep ourselves safe from danger, so maybe if Valt did say yes, I'd go along with it. So Valt was going to give Skadi the first move? For someone who emanated a hot-blooded battler aura off him, he did seem to have a bit of a gentleman-y side to him. "Why thank you I'll make sure to use this wisely. Prepare yourself." She smiled. Almost immediately, flame-like streams of energy started to form in her mouth, before she called out "Divine Breath!" The light blue energy burst out of her mouth, and flew over to Valt, threatening to hit him in the chest. Meanwhile, using my D-3, I attempted to scan Cardinaldramon with my upgraded scanner, in order to check some basic info about him. Quietly, I just whispered to myself, "Good luck, Skadi." Skadi digivolves to the Armour!Champion level Weatherdramon, and takes advantage of the first move, offered graciously by Valt. She starts off by using Divine Breath to attack him, opting to save some of her move powerful attacks for later. Divine Breath: Fires a stream of light blue energy from her mouth at the enemy. (No cooldown) Meanwhile, Kenny scans Cardinaldramon!Valt with the Improved Scanner to get some info about him. Valt laughter slowly dying down to giggles. "It's OK bud. By the way I think you should try 'em too. If not for just playing around, just for other uses. It's quite useful. For signal for example. It can emits different colors so you can use that instead of flare. it's not as bright as flare though, and it's more limited compared to flares. But even then it could be useful. Some people dismissed it for 'not being useful enough' and actually want to discontinue it. I disagree. It's hella useful! When you got more bits visit the Terminus Mall! I assure you, you won't regret it! Even novelties item like these are extremely useful!"
True enough, we picked ki arts because we love to mess around with it. After all it's also cool to play around with Shouryuuken or Hadouken, Or even Kamehameha and Genkidama. But when it met with applications like this? Hella useful.
I had no idea that this happened, but apparently Valt does. He then relayed it to me when he's done sparring, but Kenny apparently scanned him. Not that I mind. In fact I feel that it's a great thing to do. What was revealed? Hell I have no idea. Valt have no idea too, but he can guess what is it.
Cardinaldramon Armor Perfect-Class / Ancient Dragon Digimon / Vaccine Attribute / Dragon Roar and Wing Guardians Field An ancient Digimon, revived by usage of Digimental of Justice (Perfect stage) on a receptive Vmon, with element of [Wind]. Evoker of forgotten wind spirits, this Digimon moves revolves around weather generated by winds. Its back are equipped with wind blades 'Anemoi' as substitute of wings.
Revealed Moves: Ultima Break: Toggleable, imbue a move with "Shield Breaker" property which includes breaking barrier, reflect and cancelling moves for that one move. three turns cooldown between activation
Aeolus Field: 50 meter radius around Cardinaldramon is treated as field of the wind. The wind increase damage of any wind attack by 30%.
...Perhaps it's because my stupid moment of being unfocused in the battle, but I ended up using Cardinaldramon instead of Clostdramon. I regret it, but looks like the two does not mind... hopefully. Cardinaldramon grinned at the new form of Skadi.
"Heh, niiiiiice... Well then why don't we dance?"
And that's was the time. I saw flash of light blue energy. Valt anticipated it and dodged. That was a nice move, too bad that being second means he have more time to dodge... but problem is I guess getting to the right spot. For the moment me and Gam-shisho retreated a bit more, leaving enough room for the two fighters to do their own things... I don't need to be blasted by anything today, thank you.
"Fufu, not bad. Straightforward but not bad. Saa, my turn!"
Valt spreads his wind blades. The needles rotated several times and stopped. A green one on the south shone.
"Storm of Notus!"
Following this, a huge pressurized wind formed on the top of the dome. It descended with such force and hits the ground before spreading into harsh wind current that most likely would buffets Skadi mercilessly if she doesn't came out from the wind dome. Come to think of it, that's the weakness of Cardinaldramon. Its ability is very dependent on its Field of Aeolus. He have very little means to attack outside that field...
Hope that Valt understood that.

Before we had started our battle, Valt had told us that the Ki Arts were useful for more than just a toy, and suggested that we could pick it up at the Terminus Mall sometime. After seeing Ryouta use it as a distraction against Gam in his little spar, I couldn't help but silently agree with him. I just smiled and nodded in agreement while mentally making a note to revisit the mall sometime to probably pick it up. After all, if it worked for Ryouta in an innocuous spar, I could probably use it to intimidate a wild Digimon attacking us.
Speaking of the battle, I had managed to successfully scan Valt-as-Cardinaldramon, and as I went to look at the data displayed on the Digivice, I caught something surprising interesting about this Digimon, and my eyes widened in shock. Cardinaldramon was an Armour Ultimate. and Skadi was merely an Armour Champion. If Valt didn't toss Skadi around like a mere ragdoll in the wash, I wouldn't be surprised.
I just looked up and called to Skadi, "Uh, Skadi, I don't want to alarm you, but Cardinaldramon's an Armour Ultimate, and you're only an Armour Champion. Should we just call off this battle and jump in the lake right now?"
Skadi didn't seem at all faltered by this. Instead, her stance seemed more confident as ever as she replied, "Are you kidding me? I absolutely adore a good challenge like this." She had a small, but very confident smirk on her face as she said this. Of course, this being a friendly spar didn't seem to deter her at all.
Ramona just called out herself from the sides. "Well, when Valt smashes your head against the concrete and knocks you out in one hit, don't come crying to me."
We both ignored that.
I continued reading on for more important details about Cardinaldramon, revealing 2 very important details about his abilities: first, his 'Ultima Break' ability could break shields, and that could pretty much include Skadi's Gale Barrier. Second, the wind dome was all Cardinaldramon's doing, referred to as the Aeolus Field, a 50 meter radius that would increase all wind attacks by 30%. And since Cardinaldramon's description said that his attacks involved the winds, she would need to be careful.
But as Skadi fired off her Divine Breath, Valt dodged it with ease. Thank god Ryouta and Gam had the good idea to get out of the way while they could. Of course, Skadi's focus was on Valt, and Valt alone. She blinked in shock, before clutching onto the orb in slight frustration. Of course he let Skadi go first, so he could dodge that. But quickly, she calmed down. Both me and her knew that she had like, a million opportunities to hit Valt again.
Valt would then make a comment about Skadi's 'straightforward but not bad' attack. Smiling, Skadi replied, "Oh, that's nothing. You haven't seen what I'm truly capable of yet." Classic Skadi. Valt's wind blades then spread out, like a giant eagle taking flight, the green needle shining like a magnificent emerald. "That's not good..." I heard Skadi mutter. I had to agree with her there, looking at the needle, before calling out, "SKADI, GET OUT OF THERE!"
As Valt called out his attack, the dome started to form a massive bout of wind pressure. Immediately, in a fit of panic, Skadi called out "Gale Barrier!" while holding out her orb. Almost immediately, a barrier of heavy wind emerged from the orb, aiming to protect Skadi as much as possible. With her free hand, she tried to shield herself as well. Just in time too, as the wind smashed onto the ground before transforming into a powerful current, en route Skadi's direction.
It seemed to do the trick, slightly, as the first set of winds hit onto the shield, Skadi blocking them quite well, but straining in the process to survive the barrage. Unfortunately, this was a defensive Champion-level shield on an Ultimate-level attack. Eventually, something had to give, and eventually, the shield broke, lashing at her viciously, and her roaring in pain a bit, as the winds pushed her back, ironically, getting her closer to the edge of the dome.
Still, Skadi was stalwart. Looking over at Valt, she proclaimed to him, "Is that the best you got, mate?"
Skadi takes damage from Storm of Notus, which she attempts to block with Gale Barrier. Thanks to that and the Weatherlocked passive, this increases her defence against it by 70%. But thanks to Aeolus Field, it's reduced by 30%, capping the total to 40% of the attack blocked.
Gale Barrier: Skadi summons an barrier with her orb to protect her and others within a 5m radius. This barrier deflects 1 Champion level attack, all Rookie (+ lower) attacks, and halves 1 Ultimate attack by 50%. Any ranged fire attacks that hit the shield will instead by dissipated by the winds, which will not break the shield. (3 post cooldown)
ALL RELEVANT PASSIVES Cloud Travel (Non-combat Passive): Skadi can float in mid-air in this form. Nothing special, except she can reasonably avoid earthquakes and ground attacks.
Weatherlocked (Passive): In this form, Skadi takes less 20% less damage from non-Ice elemental attacks. However, her reptilian form means she takes 10% more damage from Ice attacks.
Lightning Rod (Passive): If any Digimon uses any non-physical electric attack, they get redirected at Skadi, whenever they were trying to aim at her or not. She then absorbs the attack, which changes the white cloud black and increases her attack by 30% for the next 3 turns. However, once active, she cannot absorb another electric attack outside of using Orb of Reflection.

It's at this time that I noticed my mistake. When I was about to rectify it, Valt raised his hand to tell me to stop. What... What? He's usually the more fairer one, but why does this time he instead insist on facing an Armor Adult with an Armor Perfect? That's just... very unbalanced is it? But Valt eyes looked at me as if trying to let him do this anyway. I don't have a choice... no, it's not that I don't. I wanted to trust him. I put my faith on him that he know what to do.
And... thankfully, Skadi was up for that challenge. Although Ramona seem to be saying some mean spirited (albeit not baseless) thing, the girl looked unfazed. That's good. Valt smirked at that too.
"Heh, so you have a nice shield move." Valt commented. "Not that many actually have a shield against someone of higher stage. Unfortunately for you, that's not the only thing that I have."
Once again, the dome shone green. Another wind blast is forming on the center. Valt however was not going to let Skadi just like that escape, considering she's already at the edge. While chasing her, he shoot out his wind blades at her general direction.
What is he planning? I have no idea, but this is rare. Valt is not usually like this. He generally teaches the other through practice... practice?
...Wait, that might be it!
Valt is generally more hand on the stuff, and definitely will not needlessly use extreme force to end a spar. Spar is a great way to improve oneself, and Valt who loves sparring usually tend to prolong the battle so that he can see all his opponent's movesets. Is he trying to see all Skadi's movesets so he can give her a pointer?
"Ramona, this girl won't be knocked out with just one of my strike," Valt said in the middle of the chase. "She's stronger than that, and this is a good lesson: What should you do if you're chased by someone stronger than you? At that point, should you hold your ground? How to escape from this? A hero make enemies left and right, Skadi. At that point, what will you be focusing on? You have guts, but time to make proper judgement!"

Was Ryouta regretting the fact that he accidentally digivolved his partner to the wrong Armour form? It seemed he did, I noticed, and was now trying to fix it post haste, only for Valt to stop him... for some reason. Why? Why would he insist that Skadi fight him in a form she couldn't even reach yet? I just looked on in confusion. Again, Skadi tried to look unfazed, but that windstorm, even with her shield, roughed her up quite a bit, if her wincing were anything to go by. Poor girl.
Even if I could do jack and shit to help out physically, I could still call out words of support to Skadi, "Walk it off, Skadi, walk it off! Don't let that overgrown shiny Dragonite get to you!" She just turned to me, and while the pain was still apparent, she still managed to flash me a grin.
"I won't. But keep an eye on Valt for me, will you? I could do with an extra set of eyes." I nodded, before looking at the giant muscular Digimon. It was clear that Skadi needed all the help she could get, and while I was obviously of no physical condition to fight a giant, I still wanted to help in some way. After all, she was my partner, and I knew I couldn't just sit around and wait for the problem to solve itself.
As Valt complimented Skadi's Gale Barrier technique, a secondary windstorm started to build, before striking down on the ground once again. Staying calm despite the pain, she cried out "Orb of Reflection!", as she raised the titular shiny orb in the air. As the wind lashed at Skadi once again, she shut her eyes winced in pain, albeit not as much. Half of the winds were absorbed into the tiny orb, while the other half still lashed at Skadi, pushing her slightly further back. It still stung a bit, but she seemed to take it calmly, breathing in and out in a bid to stay calm.
And that's when I realised as the gears started to click in my brain: Cardinaldramon was practically reliant on the dome. Those windstorms were part of the dome. And I was sure that those windstorms were only usable in the dome. If Skadi managed to escape the dome, Valt would have no choice but find a way to drag her back in, and despite the power differences, Skadi was still tough of nails, and she wouldn't be forced back in without a fight. But how to tell her this?
Honouring Skadi's request, my eyes were locked on Valt, who was just now starting to charge at Skadi, firing the wing blades on his back at her. Quickly, I called out "SKADI, LOOK OUT!!" She opened her eyes, only to be greeted by the sight of the overgrown shiny Dragonite coming at her, his blades flying towards her. To my relief, she listened, dodging the blades in time. But it was clear that Valt wasn't going to call it quits, giving chase as she started to float off as fast as possible, moving her away farther from the edge of the dome, all the while inquiring about how was she going to handle this.
As he started to catch up with Skadi, she had but one answer, which she said with another confident smirk as she stopped in her tracks, "How about I give you a little taste of your own medicine?" She responded. With that, she held out her orb, as the winds she absorbed from earlier started to blast at Valt, aiming to hit him squarely in the face.
Meanwhile, as I was watching all of this, I could only whisper to myself, "Good thinking, Skadi." I was sure she couldn't hear me, but I didn't care. Did she figure out Cardinaldramon's connection to the dome too? This may had been a little ballsy, but a risk was a risk, and a risk Skadi was more than willing to take.
Skadi manages to reduce the power of the second barrage of Storm of Notus to a measly 10% thanks to using Orb of Reflection to absorb the winds, and the Weatherlocked passive to reduce attack. (50% + 30% - 50% - 20% = 10%). She manages to dodge the Blades of Anemoi, before trying to blast Valt in the face with the winds she absorbed. If hit, it will do unboosted air Champion damage + 30% more damage thanks to Aeolus Field's effect.
Orb of Reflection: If being attacked by a ranged/energy attack, Skadi can instead opt to absorb that attack instead with her orb. She can then fire the attack back at the enemy with the same amount of damage the original attack was going to inflict, including any boosts or passives the opponent has active. If used against Ultimates, then the attack power will only be on par with an unboosted Champion level attack, and only 50% of the attack can be absorbed. This attack cannot be affected by the Lightning Rod passive. (3 post cooldown)
ALL RELEVANT PASSIVES
Cloud Travel (Non-combat Passive): Skadi can float in mid-air in this form. Nothing special, except she can reasonably avoid earthquake and ground attacks.
COOLDOWNS Gale Barrier: 1/3 Orb of Reflection: 0/3

Oversized shiny dragonite? I wanted to laugh, but I'm not in position to frankly. I don't remember as much Pokemon like most gamers, but I still appreciate that nice references. Dodging Gam-shisho attack is getting a bit more and more tiring though... as our spar getting more and more intense. Parrying sword left and right, countering with attacks and martial arts... honestly, there's no break. Thankfully apparently my lungs tidal volume are up to task.
Things getting heated inside the dome. Skadi managed to tank Valt's attack. It's not entirely tanked it looks like, but rather a great safe. Valt smirked, seem to liking this already. The girl is resourceful for sure. He have seen about two techniques. Normally, an Adult Armor stage have five. There is always a pattern to them. Wait, make that three. He saw three, so that leave her with two. If those are passives, then he already saw all of her actives. This is of course, assuming that she have no RAM Upgrades like Valt does.
Skadi dodged the wind blades... That was close, right? Valt who saw this widened his grin even further. Armor adult and armor perfect, their speed is completely different. Of course Valt being stronger, his speed naturally is faster... but that was part of the mistake too. The moment Skadi faced him, she blasted him with his own attack. It wasn't strong enough to make Valt fully hurt, but it was enough to blast him back. He was completely caught off guard. That was first clean hit from Skadi.
Valt immediately recover mid air, however, backflipping like a game character midair. Ain't that a bit cheating?
"....Ku..."
One might think that with his head down like that, Valt is angry, but...
"Kuku...kukukuku---HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" what came out from him was a laughter so loud that it overpowered the strong wind current. Valt clapped, yes, clapped. It's a standing ovation. Or flying ovation even?
"WELL DONE, VERY WELL DONE! You smart girl! That was a DAMN NICE MOVE! Heh heh heh... How unbelievable! You passed! You passed with flying colors on that one! But you know? Even that was a bit of false move... one that I can't blame you for not knowing."
If Skadi can escape from the wind current, she would pretty much win, right?
Wrong
Valt's wings still have yet returned to him, nope. The Blade of Anemoi, in all this chaos, still flew, and now, missing their target, they immediately chased back, faster, stronger. Dodging it was the wrong choice. Skadi would better off using Orb of Reflection on the Blade of Anemoi rather than Storm of Notus...
Which is repeated for the third and last time.

When Skadi had absorbed the winds like a sponge, I noticed a small smirk emerge on Valt face, and when she dodged the wind blades, the smirk grew wider. Something felt off. Very off. Clearly, Valt knew something that neither of us knew. Was that the reason he decided to stick with Cardinaldramon instead of getting Ryouta to change him? Even Skadi looked a little puzzled as well. Valt was starting to raise one red flag too many.
And as Skadi blasted Valt point blank, she let out a triumphant smirk as she saw Valt get blasted off by the sudden strike, while I looked on hopefully and even Ramona was starting to pay attention. Despite the blatant power difference between the two, Skadi managed to finally do something to him, and no doubt she was ready to follow up on that, raising her orb again almost immediately... only for her smile to falter as he quickly recovered.
A weird sounding noise emerged from the muscular drake's snout, before erupting into full out laughter and applause, on his end. Skadi's jaw dropped in shock and conclusion, and I only scratched my head. "Uh, Skadi, what's he doing, exactly?" I asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine." She deadpanned. As far as we could tell, we had no idea if it was sarcastic or genuine. Probably the former, but only God, Buddha and Arceus knew at this point, and as far as I was concerned, they weren't telling.
It turned out that Valt's applause was genuine, as he complimented Skadi's technique, without a drop of sarcasm lacing it, as Skadi's confusion quickly transformed into embarrassment, blushing slightly at his comments with a small, genuine smile on her face, then quickly back into confusion again as he mentioned something about 'passing with flying colours'. It didn't take long for Skadi to put 2 and 2 together to realise that she had managed to impress Valt, as a huge grin started to engulf her face and she started laughing in glee. She could not resist turning her head to me to tell me about it! "You hear that, Kenny?" She cried joyfully, "He thinks I'm amazing! Valt thinks I'm amazing!" Followed by even more happy laughter.
I won't lie, I felt a little jealous there. But I found myself getting into Skadi's practically infectious joy at this point. With a chuckle, I joked, "Skadi, I think both you and I know you're amazing. You didn't need somebody else to echo it back to you. Especially not your opponent." Calling out myself, I started to find myself jumping and calling out to Valt as well, waving my hand like crazy to grab his attention, "Hey Valt! Why don't you give some kudos to her tamer over here?" I cried out myself, pointing to me. Never in my time back in Australia I'd find myself doing any of this.
That elation wasn't going to last long though. As Skadi turned back, it turned out Valt wasn't finished. It was a fake out. And this time, the blades from earlier were flying at her in full force, faster than before. Again, she tried to dodge, attempting to move and swivel out of the way, but they were too fast for her, as they sliced at Skadi's sides, making her howl in pain again. I gasped loudly. That had to hurt. Ramona just found herself slumping again too, as Skadi clutched at one of her sides with her free hand.
Just as Skadi tried to recover, the dome shined a bright green again as yet another windstorm whipped up, crashed onto the ground and lashed at Skadi again. And this time, with no time to respond, the winds lashed as her again, as she tried to stay upright, gritting her teeth as she did. She didn't want to show she was in pain. But I could tell, I was practically wincing and covering my eyes. Despite her apparent wobbling, she still tried to keep herself up. Because lord almighty, that one-two punch had to hurt.
"Skadi, you OK girl?" I cried out. Gripping her orb tightly, she was making it clear to all of us that she was not going down and facing her soggy forfeit without a fight. Yes, it was clear to all of us nobody was going to die, and thank God, Buddha, and Arceus for that one, but Skadi just didn't know when to quit.
"Me? Hah, don't worry about me, Kenny!" She smiled, "Never felt better! I can totally turn this battle around, you'll see." Even she knew that was pretty much boiling horseshit at this point, but that spark inside of her flat out refused to die. Holding up her orb to the sky, she called out with as much energy as she could, as the orb started to darken.
"PANIC THUNDER!!" Black wisps started to come out of the orb, and climbed to the top of the dome. In almost no time, they formed into one large thundercloud, as crackling could be heard from within it. While the thundercloud would home in on, and hopefully hit Valt, the chances of it knocking him out were practically slim to none. Still, it wouldn't hurt to try. Or at least, not as much as it already did. Both of us were practically resigned to our fate at this point.
Skadi is hit by both the third bout of Storm of Notus (60% thanks to Weatherlocked) and Blade of Anemoi, and is now on her last legs. In a fit of desperation, she uses Panic Thunder to try and deal something to Valt (and because he's the only opponent, if he gets hit, he'll feel the full brunt of this attack).
Panic Thunder: Skadi uses her orb to summon up to 5 thunderclouds to strike down the enemy. These thunderbolts are capable of targeting and homing in on enemies. She can choose to strike down one enemy for maximum damage, or attack up to 5 foes with each thundercloud, or designate which and how many of her active thunderclouds hit which enemy. (3 post cooldown)
