The Bridge Between Worlds.
Things had grown grizzly to live in Shibuya-- or any place in Tokyo since DATS tried to reinforce the restrictions on Digimon. After events in Golden Week and of course the general concern about Digimon being dangerous and everything… things had now become harder for people who had Digimon as partners or even as friends. It was a dark age of segregation and fear. Everywhere Zachary went, on the news, in the papers and on the net, fear of the unknown digital lifeforms was growing, even beyond the borders of Shibuya where it occurred.
It didn’t effect Zachary as badly as others, but many people he knew who had partners were in hiding or gone to the Digital World more. His partner, Panthermon, was a Digimon with the innate talent to turn himself invisible while out in public so he could prowl about without being seen. Even more, he and his Digimon had a near psychic connection to communicate from distances. So he had an easier time keeping his Digimon a secret, while others, sadly were not as lucky. Security around central Shibuya made it hard to even reach the Trailmon station underground. He had seen his young friend Rei of late too, a little girl whose Digimon was a small Musimon and who passed merely as a stuffed animal. It would be difficult for her to travel with him anymore, even with that ruse.
As he sat in his apartment, looking out the large glass window as he wrote in his notebook. His class homework. Despite the rise in Digimon, and things, he still had to do his assignments and things. He watched as he saw the streets less busy and the police cards roaming. He been having more and more reminders of that strange parallel world he saw. That he and Panthermon accidentally wandered into where they were evil and used Digimon to take over Tokyo. As much as he wanted to shake that memory away, it haunted him, cause it made him aware just how Dangerous Digimon, or Tamers, for that matter were capable of. The ability to rally and empower Digimon like he could in the wrong hands.
To add insult to the injury, DATS had begun to become a more dictator-like angle with people. What tamers who were not pressured to join their ranks, were forced apart as their partners were either sent back to the Digital World, or worse fight and delete those that resisted. The tamer net was filled with mixed replies and messages. It was suffocating and hard to read.
ALl of this began relatively around the same time Zachary had begun his own project. One that would allow tamers and Digimon to live together. With the events now coming forward, his own goal with this had become clearer than ever.
As he finished his homework, he looked to his partner. Panthermon was curled up on the couch, the soft music on the digital radio going that was a nice jazzy music that put him to ease. As Zachary slipped up from the cross-legged position on the carpet, he rose up and looked to his Digivice… the new one he developed with the aid of friends.
While things on the human world side of things seemed bleak, the Digital World was a bit brighter. Digimon were willing to talk to them, other humans, and through the Tamer Net, Zachary had begun forming a network of tamers and Digimon on their own, to try and form a group where no one had to be afraid of each other and be themselves.
Slowly but surely they constructed something special. A special group and place where Digimon and Humans were free to meet, mingle, co-exist and get to know one another to form a brighter future. “NEXUS”.
It had taken some time. Luckily time didn’t move the same in the Digital World as it did in the Real World. What they were able to do that had taken a few months there, was done within a few days by retrospect. With the aid of Jeremy, Jojo, Pickle and others whom he met, not to mention all the other Digimon who backed their goal with their dedication and support, they had finished constructing their new base of operation. THeir new home away from home, sort of speak.
With one last look to the city, Zachary turned to his partner, his head resting on his paws. “Panthermon, it’s time.” he said seriously.
The cat rose his head up and yawned, showing his maw of teeth like a true jungle cat. He looked to Zachary, a touch puzzled. “I’m just going to faint understanding, and just say… ‘okay’, “ the cat said, an air of sarcasm obvious to his words.
Zachary rolled his eyes as he made his way to his room where his computer was. “The message, smarty cat. Come on. Once we send it, we should meet the others there. It’s almost time anyway.” he said.
THe large cat arched his back, stretching his claws a bit as he woke up his body from his cat nap and followed his tamer into his room.
Zachary sat himself into his computer chair and began ty open a chat room-- where he made a small private chat room for all his friends whom was involved in this project. Some Digimon could access it, some couldn’t but it was more for the humans helping organize it on his side. He soon sent them the message and began opening another page.
This one was blank as he now had to craft a message. As Panthermon hopped up onto Zachary’s bed on the opposite side of the room, the human paused, unsure what to really say and pressured as he had to make the words just right. They had to be motivating, powerful, and also informative without giving too much away… or risk certain people whom were against this notion causing him trouble later. For all of them.
The blank page was a forum post on the Tamer Net-- one he would announce to others who would read it. Slowly, he began to write.
“Fellow Tamers and Digimon alike,
I am writing to you all because something bad has happened. For many of you who are humans might know, the powers that be in their marble halls choose to see Digimon as a threat. That their mere presence brings a danger to our world and the order they impose. Some of them are not wrong-- as we all know there are some Digimon, even Tamers out there, that use the great power they have for all the wrong reasons. But many of you know better.
Digimon are not evil by nature. It is no different than calling someone dangerous from being put behind the wheel of a car or anything else. At their core, many of them are people just like us, and just like us, want nothing more than to exist peacefully.
They believe to keep that piece our worlds must stay divided… but then why did Digimon come here in the first place? Why did some of us become Digimon Tamers, or Generals? Why did these amazing creatures come and enrich our lives for the better? Regardless what that reason is, people from DATS and the Japanese Government wish for us to seperate us out of fear and misunderstanding. If we let this happen, these answers and the bonds we made will be lost forever.
Because of this, many of us got together-- human and Digimon and created a special site for us. A secret place accessed through the Tamer Net : HERE. A special place where humans and tamers can meet, life and exist together. To be ourselves. To explore and find new adventures. Many of you might want to try it out, others might not. But the goal here is to make a place for us to coexist. Our worlds were not meant to be divided.
We were brought together for a reason, and as a fellow Tamer I will not allow my Digimon friends to be treated as if they were dangerous invaders. We all have the right to live together. If we all work together and strive to be the best example of what humans and Digimon are capable of, both our worlds can change for the better.
The future starts with us, and the only way to get there is together.
We are the Nexus between the real and digital worlds, so let us show them what miracles we can accomplish by working together. I hope to see you there and all are welcome.
Sincerely,
Zaber. “
Zachary finished the letter and made sure he included the hidden weblink located in the text. It was there to stand out-- and would lead to the Nexus Web Page. The Page was a link connected in the Tamer Net but constructed by Jeremy. It was his idea to create an access point using it so other Tamers whom would want to join could access it. A web portal hidden in plain site.
With the final check on the weblink-- he hit ‘send’ and submitted the letter into the Tamer Net. The page soon came up, in front of a black background. It stood out plainly and the weblink was visible. Once done, he saw a few people slowly checking out the page.
Realizing the topic was now live and being read, he opened the chat channel as well to reply to his friends.
“Message sent. We should be getting people coming in. I hope the stress test was successful Jeremy cause this is gonna hit bigger than World of Warcraft,” he joked.
Jeremy: “Please. The Digicore is a miracle of Digital World tech. It can handle the access of the Digital Gate. Now get over here. “
Zaber: “Heading over now.” he replied and got up.
He had opened the webpage to the Nexus page and signed in, now looking at the tital screen with a large X-- and a portal like backdrop behind it. He turned to Panthermon, who had been watching him from his bed. “Ready to go Panthermon?” Zachary asked.
“It’s about time,” the jaguar said as he hopped down and stood beside Zachary to wait.
This being the first time he tested it himself, Zachary held out his Digivice slowly to the website on his screen. It didn’t react immediately, but soon his Digivice beeped aloud, then the screen’s Nexus Logo began to appear. It grew brighter as the Digital Gate opened up, but a different color and appearance inside as they felt themselves pulled forward. Before they knew it, Zachary and Panthermon entered the gate, and vanished from his bedroom.
***
The transaction to that place was not as speedy or a rush as it was to the Digital World. Zachary and Panthermon touched the ground with their feet easily, appearing from a gentle shower of light from before a large orbiting device that hovered above them. It was surrounded by a large circle with smaller ones inside it, acting almost like pads. The moment they stepped forward they saw it.
A wide blue sky with clouds stretched out above them, that gave light to a cityscape below. The road they were on led to many buildings, mixed in with greenery and canals that ran through the place. ONe would easily think they were in the Digital World, but that was not correct. The city was not like those in Terminus, but a more crisper, futuristic appearance below the blue sky. In the center of the ‘city’ was a large tower that beckoned others towards it in aesthetics.
Zachary smiled, as he saw what he, his friends, Digimon and Humans were able to build.
“Welcome to Nexus, Zachary… “ Zachary said to himself as he took a step forward.
As he moved forward, he saw other people begin to appear in their own dazzles of light, appearing through the same gate he did. Murmurs of excitement, confusion and wonder escaped them as they observed the new world they stumbled upon. The website brought htem there the moment they showed their Digivices to it.
As they all slowly began to explore-- some would notice that they were not just on a city-- but the place they were was a small island, which floated in what could only be described as the clouds and sky above. As bits of code flew by like clouds in the sky.
This was the home for all Tamers and Digimon who wished to meet and get along. This was Nexus.
