Peace and order. Civilization and the future of mankind. Things that people had taken for granted… All it took for them to be ruined was one day. One. Bad. Day.
The entire city of Tokyo had been swallowed up by a gigantic mass of red slime. Growing bigger with each passing minute, always expanding to devour more and more land, it was an entity so alien and shrouded in intrigue, it could be likened to a cosmic horror, something that should not exist. Those in the Digital World referred to it as the ‘True Enemy’, an ancient evil that had slumbered in the deepest layers of their world for millennia. Humans called it the D-Reaper, an antiviral program that had surpassed its original parameters and turned into such an unholy abomination.
The military had only managed to safely evacuate a third of the city’s total population before it was consumed by the chaos. Unlikely as it seemed, the rest were still alive, at least for the time being. As an AI-killing program, the D-Reaper could not ‘delete’ organic life forms such as humans, hence it spawned ‘agents’, monstrous extensions of itself connected to the main body through flesh-like cords. For the most part, people barricaded themselves in their houses fearing for their lives, as those agents prowled the city and could sniff them out at any moment.
Then there were those who still fought, even when the odds of victory against this eldritch adversary seemed all but null. Chosen Ones and Digimon gave their all to fight off endless hordes of D-Reaper agents, but they were outnumbered and quickly getting fatigued, while their enemy was tireless and constantly regenerated its lost ‘limbs’. Practically leading the resistance forces was a girl known as Yuko Himura, riding on the puffy shoulder of her Digimon partner, a flamboyant, masked jester who tore through the weaker agents using his multiple swords.
“Bah, how unsightly! The D-Reaper doesn’t have the first idea about fashion! Crawl back to the abyss! Trump Sword!” Piedmon exclaimed, as his projectile swords skewered a strange D-Reaper agent shaped like a blue rabbit with a tuft of blonde hair on its head. “Jokah, we have to gain more ground!” Yuko urged her partner. “There’s so much even a Demon King like me can do, you know!” The Hellish Clown replied, using his swords to defend against three more of those rabbit-like agents. “We’ve already lost IceDevimon, and so many others… I’m not losing Mika too. We have to find him!” The teenage Tamer exclaimed, while clenching her fist. “Where’s Lop-chan - I mean Cherubimon - I think he ran ahead. Can you see him?”

Chaos Pure, unfettered chaos was the only way one could describe the battle of those chosen by the Digimon and the eldritch horror of the D-Reaper. Yuko and the Evolved Jokermon's struggle, mighty though it was, paled in comparison to the horror's capability to mass-produce its many agents. And where one of the bunnies was stricken down, another two took their place, only to be destroyed swiftly by the fiendish Jester that was Piedmon. Yet the cycle was repeated again and again, leading the self-assured virus-type to question where their angelical ally could be.
And then, clouds formed solemnly above the D-Reaper's spawns who could only look above as the sound of thunder rumbled above them, announcing what was to come.
Then, a mighty voice spoke from above. A mighty, bestial voice that reeked of derision and yet carried an authority like no other. "HEAVEN'S JUDGMENT!" Was its only command to the clouds. And the heavens obeyed, unloading a veritable hail of lightning upon the many abominations which were spawned by the D-Reaper, who writhed helplessly until naught remained but ashes. Before more could spawn to take their place, Yuko and Piedmon were joined by a gigantic rabbit with fur and tail that more resembled robes of a priest and ears that were shaped like wings. Though cute, its form bore no cuddliness or happiness. It was as grim as the situation that just arose.
"Apologies, I was caught by another platoon of Agents." The rabbit explained, and upon its form, the Rebel duo could see marks of burns hidden by ruffled fur and many, MANY scratches. "We need to get to the core. Mikazuki must be there!" he instructed, pointing to the tallest creatures of the bunch, both of which seemed connected already.
And in the tallest spire of red wire-like mass, crowned as if it was a queen, their target was.
But first, they needed out of there, for more of the unholy abominations came to replace their fallen brethren. "Let us hence, now!" Cherubimon grabbed both the outcast and the jester and soared on, trying his best to reach the menace as fast as he could.
_______________________
"It's useless..." Mikazuki sobbed yet again within the bubble that served as the D-Reaper's core, face showing signs of lack of sleep and hunger. His eyes were sunken like those of a skull and his clothes crinkled and already soaked in the boy's tears.
"YES. AT LAST YOU GRASP THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION, MIKAZUKI." The abhorrent voice of the beast echoed within the confines of the Mother D-Reaper. A Genderless, hollow voice, not unlike that of a machine. "THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO DO FOR THEM. THESE IRRATIONAL CREATURES WILL BE GONE IN MOMENTS. IT IS FOR THE BETTER." It tried consoling the boy-giant, only to make his sobs even louder and a scream of "Shut up!" To come from him.
Which was the point, anyway. After all, the boy's negative emotions only added more power to the main terminal.
"AFTER ANALYZING ALL THE DATA FROM YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS, THE D-REAPER HAS DEEMED HUMANITY TO BE A BUG. AND ACCORDING TO OUR CENTRAL DIRECTIVE, ALL BUGS MUST BE ASSIMILATED AND DELETED."
Mikazuki tried his best to ignore the monster and only glanced towards where he guessed the front of the creature was, praying silently for someone... anyone to rescue him from the torment that he was being subjected to.

“I guess that answers your question, Yuko.” Piedmon said as soon as they noticed the big, menacing cloud hanging above their heads, before grabbing his Tamer and floating to the side, thus avoiding friendly fire from Cherubimon’s mighty signature attack, Heaven’s Judgement. Upon seeing the large angelic bunny descend from his own thunder cloud, the Clown Prince greeted him with a wide smile. “There you are, my fluffy friend! Looks like you’ve finally found something more wretched than Virus types to unleash God’s holy wrath upon~” He teased the evolved Lop-chan, having the energy to crack jokes even during such calamitous times.
As for Yuko, she was more concerned about the many injuries Cherubimon had sustained. “You took a whole platoon by yourself? They really messed you up. Hold on, let me heal you…” The young hooligan said, pulling her customized D-Arc out and slashing a Card through it. “Digi-Modify! Regenerate!” While the Card’s healing power wasn’t enough to make a big difference, it still treated many of the Archangel’s surface-level wounds. That was all she could do as a mere human, really. Maybe she would have been safer had she stayed back at the refugee camp outside of Tokyo, but she couldn’t in good conscience retreat to safety when Mika was still trapped inside that thing.
‘Thing’ was an apt way to call the mountain-sized Mother D-Reaper, an entity so alien, it even put Lovecraftian deities to shame. According to Cherubimon, if they wanted to save Mikazuki, they had to reach that thing. “Wait, how do we even know he’s in there?” The Himura girl asked, as she and Piedmon held onto Cherubimon’s large arms. “The D-Reaper must be using him as an energy source. There’s no other way such a primitive program could evolve to become so gigantic AND find a way into the human world to boot!” The Virus-type jester explained, while throwing a projectile sword wreathed in flames against a flying D-Reaper agent that was closing in on them. “Think of it like the Digivolution that occurs when a Digimon bonds with a human partner, except… uglier and twistier, and probably not consensual.”

While resisting the urge to smack the fiendish pierrot was quite appealing, this was not the time to entertain such thoughts. They had to save Mikazuki now, not squabble about pathetic issues such as how much Jokermon deserved the flaming pits of Tartarus. As such, the only reply he gave Yuko's Digimon was "In a way." before flying them both to safety. In the meantime, Yuko saw it fit to use a healing spell of sorts on the Cherub, causing the surface wounds covering him quickly mend themselves. "Thank you, Yuko. Though I'd suggest you keep your aid to your partner. We need to make it to that thing post-haste, and it would be for the best if the two of you also were in prime condition for the final battle."
It was then that the tamer inquired about Cherubimon's reasoning as to why Mikazuki would be there, which Jokermon quickly figured out and spelled out. The angel had to admit: Maybe there was some merit in being as wretched as the demonic clown was. It allowed him to quickly see the bigger picture without much difficulty.
"A fitting Description." Concurred Cherubimon. "The D-Reaper is still a program that requires power from somewhere to thrive like that, which means it must be using a tamer to evolve faster. I would wager that it is using Mikazuki's frail mental state to drain his negative emotions to do so." The explanation quickly came to a halt when two enormous abominations surrounded them, forcing Cherubimon to gain some distance. "Let us fight them one-on-one. Lightning Spear!" The rabbit announced while raising one of its huge hands to the heavens above, to which the skies responded by sending a bolt of lightning just as huge as the angel into the hand, crackling with holy might made manifest.
Wasting no time, Cherubimon hurled the improvised spear at the creature, engulfing it in a huge explosion.

Piedmon gasped at Cherubimon’s comment and feigned being gravely offended by it. “Speak for yourself, oversized plush toy! I’m prime as a fiddle!” The masked jester huffed haughtily. “Fiddles aren’t really known for being ‘prime’. What would a ‘prime’ fiddle even look like?” Yuko snarkily pointed out. “Hmm, you’re right, I’m not at the top of my pun game. All this chaotic carnage makes it hard to concentrate on coming up with quality jokes.” The Hellish Clown admitted, sighing and frowning slightly.
Obviously, there were far more important matters to attend to than engage in prolonged, witty banter. Their number one priority was saving Mikazuki, whom the D-Reaper had presumably taken advantage of due to his frail mental state. The last part worried the Himura girl. “Negative emotions? What do you mean by that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mika being negative…” She asked the angelic bunny.
Before she could get an answer, however, two more D-Reaper agents of massive bulk jumped them, forcing the two Mega-level Digimon to split up in order to combat them. “What the hell?! These things keep getting bigger or what?! Jokah!” The young hooligan shrieked in her shock. “The bigger they are, the harder they fall! Ooooh, my pun game is back~” Jokah cooed, using his power of teleportation to seamlessly transport both himself and his Tamer behind the abomination. “Toy Wonderness!” He casually waved his hand, willing a massive gust of wind to blow the D-Reaper agent away, while a bunch of floating teddy bears latched onto its massive body, detonating together into an explosion equally massive to the one Cherubimon had created!
… yet, their efforts were for naught, as the grotesque, fleshy remains of the two agents melded into one another, fusing into an even larger monstrosity that sported a large, bulbous head, surrounded by tentacles and many open mouths. “They keep getting uglier too!” Yuko screamed, clinging to Piedmon’s red tailcoat for dear life. It was then that an equally massive creature jumped in-between, this one being a scary mix between a gigantic squid and a devil wearing a black jumpsuit and scuba gear. “Yo! Don’t worry, my dudes! I’ll hold them back, you just go on ahead!” MarineDevimon told the group. Like Cherubimon, he too was covered head to toe in countless battle scars. “MarineDevimon, you can’t! You’ll die!” Yuko warned their ally in a frightened voice. “He already knows that.” Her colorful partner said, his mouth having turned into a straight line. “Jokah-sama, Yuko… When this is over, let’s hit the beach and have a totally radical time!” MarineDevimon flashed a fanged grin at the worried girl. “Y-yeah! We’ll meet again at the beach. Thank you for everything…” The Japanese delinquent shakily replied, barely holding back a sob.
“Let us make haste! I won’t let the sacrifice of one of my finest generals be in vain!” The Clown Prince Jokah-sama declared, as he levitated in the air with Yuko held firmly in his arms, floating ever closer to the foreboding D-Reaper Queen.

As Cherubimon was about to respond, both to the insolent virus-type and the honest inquiry of the girl, The D-Reaper agent that was destroyed by his Lightning Spear suddenly managed to fuse with the one destroyed by Piedmon's Toy Wonderness, leaving in its place a mass of mouths and hands, not unlike a golem that was ready to attack them. It no doubt looked like a match for the two of them and it would have consumed valuable time to fight, had not a MarineDevimon jumped out to face it in their place, Bidding Yuko a heartwarmingly naive farewell as she, Jokermon's final form and the Angel of Knowledge flew further in the direction of the Amalgamation of Cables where no doubt Mikazuki was held captive and powering the beast.
To Cherubimon, however, this was something he had never seen, or even conceived for all his eons of overseeing the Digital World, and it certainly got him thinking about it. Virus-types were always naught but impure filth in his eyes, things that served no purpose other than corrupt the beautiful world ruled by the Angels and were incapable of being anything but Self-Serving monsters that would never put another's needs ahead of their own. It was what he has seen time and again.
And yet... not only was he witnessing a DEMON Digimon, of all things sacrificing his life for a human and another Digimon, but the Joker-Esque Digimon carrying Yuko was Honest-to-Yggdrasil MOURNING a loss! Sure, it may be too early for them to assume things, but the Agents' numbers have proven to never dwindle upon defeat. It was like facing the mythological hydra: If one of them was destroyed, two more came to replace it. There was no chance Marine Devimon had a chance of surviving this on his own.
And so, Cherubimon's mouth let out a single sentence that he never thought he'd direct at a virus-type: "Rest well, brave warrior. Your sacrifice will not have been in vain."
And so it had not. Both of the Digimon were able to easily dispatch most of the guardians of the Mother, who was now in plain view to them, giving them a glimpse of the enormity of the situation and the Enemy.
And at that moment, Something came for them.
It was fast as a bullet, and it almost caught the duo but Cherubimon was able to use Rubble to defend them from the many sickles that would have sliced them to ribbons, right as a shriek of unimaginable volume came from behind them. And when they turned behind, The second mound of cables, maw wide in wait to consume them, closed in with the speed of molasses, as opposed to its numerous appendages which were already speeding up on their trail again.
But worse yet was when a blast of energy hit Cherubimon straight in the back from above. The bunny angel groaned and writhed in pain, but managed to soldier on and turn to look at the mysterious attacker...
Mikazuki himself, suspended by a cable from the Mother D-Reaper's massive form like a puppet. But the face gave it away that the real one was still inside. What they were facing now was a copy. "You must not interfere at this delicate stage. The D-Reaper's programming is almost complete and we will not allow you to do any more harm than you have already." It spoke with a voice that was Mika's and yet not. A cybernetic echo came from the puppet, right as its back tore open, revealing a pair of crude, polygonic wings of a sickening blue and yellow.
The rest of the body followed suit. The jacket and jeans turned into a hide of slick blue and golden, marred by its simplicity, but still showing what awaited them. The hands gave way to claws and the sneakers became sharp points. But the worst was the face, which lost all its handsome contours in favor of something you'd see in a horror game. A single set of traces and mouth that looked as if it was made of bits.
Without waiting for a second longer, the new creature lunged at Cherubimon, together with the Reaper, who sent a large score of its appendages against Jokermon, intending to destroying the fiendish jester as quickly as possible.

“Ahh, the D-Reaper Queen. As the Demon King of the Digital World, it is a pleasure to meet you, your majesty~” Piedmon mockingly bowed before the skyscraper-sized Mother D-Reaper. If he was wearing a hat, he surely would have tipped it for good measure. “Hm hm hm… You’re not much of a talker, are you?” The demonic jester added with a sinister chuckle, as the gigantic eldritch horror remained motionless and silent, either not registering his taunts or thinking him less than a nuisance. Like a god looking down on an ant.
Either way, they were interrupted by the appearance of a second jumbo-sized D-Reaper, with the Hellish Clown floating away from the assault of many sickles at the last moment, just at the same time as Cherubimon shielded them all with his holy powers. “Oh Nelly! And who might you be? Are you the D-Reaper King perchance?” Jokah-sama continued teasing the godlike monstrosities, while making sure that his Tamer was secured in his arms. “That thing is NOT a king!” Yuko exclaimed with a much more proper, shocked reaction. The self-proclaimed Demon King nodded in agreement. “Hmmm, indeed… The Queen at least has an air of intellect and refinement in its alien magnificence. This one is more akin to a wild, mindless beast.”
While Mother and the Reaper were not very talkative, the third enemy that showed its ugly face did have a spiel in store for our would-be heroes. Yuko was truly horrified at the sight of the deformed Mikazuki clone. The rest of the agents looked more like standard horror video game monsters, but seeing her best friend’s form twisted into something so unsightly took a lot out of her to recover from. “Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP!! You’re not Mika, stop using his voice!” The young hooligan screamed. One had to wonder if the D-Reaper was somehow versed in psychological warfare and had chosen such a form on purpose.
“Drat! We’re cornered. Time for Plan B…” Piedmon muttered, frowning in mild annoyance. “We had a Plan B?” Yuko tilted her head in confusion. “We do now… Masks Square.” The Hellish Clown casually replied, clicking his fingers in order to manifest a large, magical force field around the Mother D-Reaper. “I don’t think teleporting is gonna help you this time.” “I’m not teleporting myself… I’m teleporting you.” “Wait what-”
The Reaper charged at Jokah again with its countless sickles. The dastardly pierrot armed himself with two of his favorite swords and faced the monstrosity head on, all the while Cherubimon had to deal with the Mikazuki clone.
As for Yuko? Thanks to Masks Square’s instant teleportation power, she had been transported inside the Mother D-Reaper’s brain…

Cherubimon offered a silent prayer to the girl's safety and proceeded to arm himself with another Lightning Spear, aiming straight for the deformed horror ahead. Unfortunately for him, while not able to outright counter the attack head-on, the creature was fast enough to not only fly out of the way without a scratch but to strike back at him without much effort into maneuvering itself.
And for its size, the clone was surprisingly strong, to the point where the punch delivered to Cherubimon's gut managed to knock the beast back.
However, beaten as he was, the angel was far from beaten. As soon as it stopped recoiling, he spread his hands wide, sending out a pulse of psychic force around him. It wasn't noticeable enough to distract the reaper, but it did push the imitation back right as it readied another strike. unfazed, the abomination repositioned itself and rushed again towards the heavenly animal, arm morphing into a blade to skewer the bunny where he stood-
Only to meet facefirst with a veritable storm of rubble flying towards it. "Divine Grasp!" Proclaimed Cherubimon as his hands clasped together, trying to crush the agent underneath the weight of the debris.
Yet it was for naught, as seconds later, cuts started to appear around the makeshift sphere of rock, which then fell to the ground after Agent Type Mika sliced it through with his two hands, turned into a pair of axes suspiciously similar to those used by Andiramon. It was wounded severely, parts of its form outright missing, such as its legs and half of its head. But in mere moments, the substance that linked it to the Mother Reaper sent a red pulse into it, and soon enough, it was as if the damage had never been inflicted in the first place. "It's pointless to resist, Cherubi-chan." The mockery of Mikazuki's voice caused the angel to scowl in righteous fury, but his opponent was far from done. "We are connected to the Center core of the D-Reaper, and as long as it exists, so will all the agents!"
Those words were followed by the agent spreading its arms wide, causing two more of it to spawn from the cables of the Mother D-Reaper, all of them equal to the first.
"You, on the other hand..." And with that, the three lunged at the bunny, intending to turn it into Mincemeat!
_____________________________
Just as ghastly as the outside, one could easily liken the Core of the D-Reaper to a brain. Pulsating chords covered the place, with only six holes arranged in the shape of the eyes of the queen monster providing light.
But at the very Center of the room, Yuko easily found the source of its power. In a sphere of prismatic glass, curled in on a fetal position lay her best friend, muttering repeatedly. "It's my fault... all this is my fault..." Like a maddened Mantra. He also looked worse for wear. His eyes were deep, as if he hadn't slept for days. His hair, once pristine and stylishly messy, was now greasy and normally messy. Heck, Yuko could easily see he looked as if he hadn't been nourished, even.
And yet... he didn't even look at her. He couldn't even realize his best friend was there. "

Cherubimon had an unfavorable matchup against the infinitely regenerating Agent Type Mika, and Piedmon wasn’t faring much better against the gigantic Reaper. Rather than relying on Mother’s regenerative abilities, it was its seemingly infinite capacity to absorb punishment and dish it out in turn which made it nigh impossible to break through its defences. On top of that, its countless sickles were getting increasingly difficult for the Hellish Clown to dodge. He was a magician, after all, not a bruiser. An enemy that fought in such a primitive, feral way was hard to get a read on.
“Drat! I’m out of ammunition.” The fiendish jester scowled in annoyance, after having thrown the last of his swords against the Reaper to no effect. His colorful, garish outfit had been torn in many places, data leaking out of his wounds. He assessed the situation, glancing at Cherubimon who was being overwhelmed by a bunch of Mika-like agents. “You know, when things look bleak, it’s good to think back to the things that amuse you. Say, have I ever told you the one about the two men who escaped an insane asylum?” The dastardly harlequin cracked a smile, while willing a Monzaemon plush toy to appear in his hand. “Never mind, you wouldn’t get it. The point is, it’s better to go out with a laugh than a whimper! Bahahahahahaha!”
With his unceasing, roaring laughter, Piedmon flew straight towards the unkillable Reaper, who simply opened its gigantic, pixelated maw and gobbled up the tiny clown, like a bullfrog swallowing a small fly. An explosion detonated inside the Reaper’s body shortly after the fact. Even that wasn’t enough to kill the humongous abomination, but it did stun it and cause it to wobble a bit.

“Jokah! Jokah, what happened!?” Yuko frantically screamed at her Digivice’s communicator, getting no response back. Eventually, the harsh reality sank in that her partner wasn’t responding because he had fallen in battle, one of his last actions being to secure her own safety. It wasn’t something she wanted to believe in, part of her hoping that this was yet another prank Jokah was pulling on her. “Please say something… anything…” The girl muttered under her breath, tears falling from her eyes.
Her thousand yard stare and her newfound trauma made it difficult to focus on her surroundings at first. After a couple of minutes of silently mourning for her loss, Yuko remembered why she was there in the first place, feverishly looking around for any sign on her friend. It didn’t take long to spot the prismatic glass sphere in the middle of the repulsive room of flesh, where a very beat up-looking young man was trapped.
“Mika!” The teenage delinquent ran straight towards the bubble, stumbling on a few pulsating chords along the way. Despite her common sense telling her that it was a terrible idea, she started slamming her bare fists against the glass in a desperate attempt to free the Nakamura scion. “C’mon! Break, damn it! Break!” The boy-giant’s words, muffled by the glass, didn’t register to her until a few seconds later. She looked at him with a bewildered expression, before gritting her teeth in anger and punching the glass so hard that her knuckles bled. “Did you hit your head or something?! This isn’t your fault! Stop saying it’s your fault, or I’m gonna kick your ass!” The last punch was delivered with as much force as a dainty, 16 year-old Japanese girl could muster. If that didn’t break the glass, she would be out of options…

One could easily say that this was a lost battle.
There was no other way around it, as the many agents of the D-Reaper swarmed upon the angel and devilish jester. The reaper, a monster that was, by all means unkillable, barely moved as the swords and props used by Piedmon stopped its relentless assault. Meanwhile, while Cherubimon's attacks were easily able to dispatch the Mikazuki doppelganger, the continuous spawning of more and more copies of the monster, courtesy of the Mother D-Reaper, continued to take its toll. It didn't help that, despite knowing that they were fake copies, Cherubimon couldn't help but hesitate as he dispatched them. That led to too many openings and now there he was, fur charred by countless blasts, and coated in fragmented data as scratches, punches, and kicks were mercilessly dished out upon the angel.
Very soon, there was no more that could be done by either. Piedmon was finally defeated and amongst the regenerating monsters, Cherubimon stood alone, powerless amidst darkness as the agents readied to finish him off. "You're a nuisance. You've always been a nuisance." They spoke in perfect synch, Placing both hands ahead as each one charged a blast of purplish energy.
"All you ever did was preach and put us in poor situations..." the clones berated as Cherubimon floated there, seemingly giving up. "Had you ever considered not to treat Joker-chan like garbage, we never would have been in this situation, to begin with... but it hardly matters now." And some of them turned their attention to the reaper once more. "Once the Reaper and Mother combine, we will be able to reach even further and this world's errors will be corrected."
And another pixelated smile of utter malice was directed at the cherubim. "Starting with this one..."
The blasts grew further and further, and right before they were launched to end the angel, it smiled and said a pair of words no one ever expected.
"You are right. I did treat him like garbage." ___________________________________________________
Mika continued there, even as Yuko pounded and screamed. It wasn't because he didn't believe her... but the Mother D-Reaper, in the one moment it had to react to the presence of an invader, managed to cut the sound from the bubble. All the Nakamura scion could see was Yuko punching and screaming at him, which did no favors to the impression he was already conceiving under the negativity oozing from him and being absorbed through the cables of the Reaper, all directed at a massive reddish goo beneath the two.
All he could do was stare on, sobbing silently.
Until only a set of words broke through the bubble.
"You're right. I did treat him like Garbage."
That one sentence got the boy to look stunned. "That's..." _____________________________________________________
The reaper agents had planned to broadcast the very last moments of Cherubimon to Mikazuki. It was a plan to finally break the boy and let their mother consume him once and for all. A simple plan.
And yet, when those words left Cherubimon's maw, they didn't expect the serenity that came with them.
And to a machine, the unexpected was easily a weakness. One that gave Cherubimon precious time to speak up against the monsters.
"I had thought him ghastly, I had thought him a monster beyond salvation and I had thought him to be a coward who'd sacrifice Yuko as soon as he had what he wanted... And all because he was a virus." He shook his head. "I see now that it was me who was blind to what was in my face all along. I had the pleasure of meeting a noble demon who was proof I was wrong and yet I scorned and treated him like trash..."
One last smile was thrown towards the mother's reaper. "And for those mistakes, I will pay with my life, that much is certain." A frown of determination then took over. "But... I won't let our end be in vain! If I must go, like Joker, I too will go down fighting as the angel I'm supposed to be! And more importantly... I'll SAVE MIKAZUKI!"
And with that, the angel brought its hands up, prompting the hail of dark blasts to shower upon him. And yet, through pain and agony, the angel stood there, calling forth a storm massive enough to cover the entirety of Tokyo. Thunder rumbled down and called the attention of both the Agents, the Reaper AND the many people fighting for their lives. This was no mere weather phenomenon... And to Cherubimon, this was all that he had left.
And it wouldn't go to waste. "Heaven's..."
His legs began giving away... his wing-like years dissolved into pixels.. but the ghastly light of the monsters was soon overshadowed by blinding light. Light that allowed a crack in Mikazuki's bubble to start forming.
"JUDGEMENT!"
And from the heavens, a deafening sound rushed along with a hailstorm of pure electricity, striking all the agents and the reaper alike. They squirmed and writhed, trying to escape or counter the unrelenting assault, to no avail. The mother may have not suffered nearly as much damage, but soon, Tokyo was silenced. Not a single agent remained after the catastrophic lightning storm ceased. A total of five minutes went by, and soon, only the Reaper and the Mother stood still.

Cherubimon’s voice startled Yuko, her last punch connecting with Mika’s glass cage so hard, she nearly broke her hand. “Fuck, that hurt!” She cursed under her breath, rubbing her fist in pain, all the while checking her surroundings to see where the evolved Lop-chan’s voice was coming from. The Archangel’s words surprised her, since not only did he admit that he had misjudged Jokermon’s character, but also that he was in the wrong for treating the Virus-type clown the way he had. The former Tamer nearly choked in her tears, the loss of her partner still very fresh in her mind. Even so, she turned towards the direction Cherubimon’s voice was coming from, cupped her hands around her mouth and hollered as loudly as she could. “LOP-CHAN! For what it’s worth, Jokah never hated you! He was the kind of guy who actually enjoyed being called a villain! I know he poked fun at you, but I think deep down he respected you too!”Having made amends - even posthumously - with the Clown Prince, the angelic bunny used his dying breath to unleash a devastating Heaven’s Judgement that not only annihilated all of the Mikazuki clones, but also caused Mika’s cage to crack from the sheer power of his resolve. Yuko wasted no time, striking the weak spot with a mighty Spartan kick, and releasing the Nakamura heir from his prison at long last! Of course, this meant she now had 195 pounds of dead weight falling on top of her, but she didn’t complain. She embraced the weakened boy-giant in a big, darn hug, crying tears of relief. “Mika, I’m so glad! I’ve been fighting non-stop just to get you back. If anything happened to you… I don’t know what I’d do…”Their tearful reunion was interrupted by the Reaper’s distorted cry, reminding the two teens that they couldn’t celebrate just yet, since the enemy had not been defeated. “Crap, what do we do now…” As if answering her question, her D-Arc started beeping, indicating that the effect of the Card she’d previously used had worn off. “Wait, that’s it! I remember Jokah warning me that if I ever tried to use multiple Cards at the same time, my Digivice would overload and blow up!” It was a crazy enough plan that it could just work. The Himura girl couldn’t help but smile slightly. She was thinking outside the box, just like Jokermon. The young hooligan pulled out her rare WarGreymon card and slashed it through her D-Arc a total of ten times, before plunging the device into the floor, burying it under a sea of red tendrils. “Now let’s get the hell outta here!” She said, grabbing Mika’s hand. However, it took looking outside the big hole in Mother’s skull to realize that the only way to escape was to freefall from the skyscraper-tall monstrosity into their certain deaths. “Shit… I don’t suppose you packed a parachute?”It was then that a flock of truly hideous, flying gremlins approached them. “Geheheh! Do you need a lift, Miss?”“Vilemon! You guys are still alive?!” Yuko exclaimed. Never had she thought that she would be so glad to see the Demon King’s most useless of minions. “Yeah, we kinda hid away during most of the fight. Those D-Reapers are scary, heheheh!” One of the Vilemon said, cackling. The teenage delinquent shook her head. “It doesn’t matter! This thing is about to blow up, we need to get out now!”“Sure thing, Miss! Hang on tight!” The Vilemon saluted. Two of the ugly demons grabbed Yuko, while six more grabbed Mikazuki, and they flew away, flapping their tiny wings as fast as they could. Soon, a deafening explosion was heard. Mother’s faceplate cracked open, a cloud of black smoke coming out. The kaiju-sized abomination started falling down in slow motion, crashing into a bunch of skyscrapers with devastating impact. Seeing this, the giant Reaper let out an ear-splitting shriek, as if lamenting the death of a deity, before melting into the same red goo that made up the D-Reaper’s original body. And that goo, devoid of purpose and a reason to exist anymore, was slowly but surely reduced to nothingness. Two gods had fallen. Tokyo had been saved…
