Shibuya Station was as crowded as ever. So many people going about their day, ready to get on with god-knows-what. It was easy for such a small child to get overwhelmed in a place like this. After all, there were so many around the little girl, she couldn't even get a good look at her surroundings. So it was only natural if the girl happened to bump into an unsuspecting stranger! She spun around as if to look behind her, only for a man on his cellphone to not even notice her. She let out a squeal of surprise as she was knocked into the ground by the impact.
"What where you're going, little girl!" The man spoke up rather harshly before continuing to walk past her. He didn't even bother to help her up!
"Oh my gosh, I am SO sorry, mister!" The girl stood up, keeping her hands behind her back as the man walked past her. The businessman on his cell phone waved the girl off dismissively as he continued walking on. She supposed it must have been an important call. She turned to watch him walk out of sight before putting her hands in front of her and grasping her newly-obtained wallet. She pulled out all the bills and... seriously? Only ¥5000!? And his suit looked so fancy, too... She sighed, pocketing her paltry earnings, dropping the wallet in the nearest waste receptacle. She had planned on turning it into the police later, but the guy was clearly an asshole.
She figured that she shouldn't stay in the station for very much longer. Still in her school uniform, she kind of stuck out now that she was unaccompanied at the moment. It would only be a matter of time before some officer would tell her to leave, or ask where her parents were. Not that they'd like the answer. Her father was in one of the many fine correctional facilities located in this great city, and her mother was probably chilling in the Bahamas or something. Neither one particularly cared about their daughter, so why should she care about them?
She started to make her way out, maybe hang around Central Shibuya until dark, then head home. Maybe she'd explore a couple of places that she had her eye on for a while. But, she was interrupted when someone grabbed her shoulder. "Hey, ya fuckin' creep, get your ha-" She spun around to see... an unexpected sight. She looked like a young woman, albeit the strangest person she had ever seen before.
She was a young woman with a slender build, most likely no more than five feet tall. She stared back at her with large, silver eyes with bizarre, cross-shaped pupils. She was also dressed in rather peculiar clothes. With her shortened skirt, black thigh-high boots, and hood with literal cat ears, she looked like a nun straight out of some creepy 2D-lover's fantasy. Her... womanly assets didn't do much to detract from the image, either. She had no idea what kind of country this nun was supposed to be from, but she certainly didn't look Japanese.
"Excuse me, young one..." Despite her soft voice she was able to project herself quite well. "But there was something I hoped you could help me with..."
The little girl nodded. She must have been one of those foreigners that totally had the wrong impression of Japan. Weebos or something like that. Well, there was only one place her kind ever wanted to go. "Oh, if you're looking for the train to Akiba, then you need to take the Ginza line!" She pointed towards a random direction. As the weeby nun glanced over where she pointed, the little girl took stepped backwards and took off, taking advantage of her small body to get lost in a crowd.
You meet some strange people when you're out and about. But never mind that. What was she going to do today...?

Though the streets leaving the station were crowded, as the girl walked further and further out, the crowds around her began to disperse. Which was probably for the best. Far too many times did the little girl get stopped by random strangers, wondering what she was doing all by herself. She had always thought it was rather peculiar how people would always tell the little girl to mind her own business, but then go out of their way to question her when she was trying to do just that. For someone told not to talk to strangers, a whole bunch of them seem worried about her well-being.
Still, the little girl could do just fine on her own. She was quick in both body and in mind, with a cute face and a silver tongue to match. She had met a number of people during the little adventures that she went on by herself, and there wasn't a single circumstance she couldn't talk, cry, or scream her way out of.
She was going on one such adventure today, but she figured that she might as prepare, first. Come to think of it, she wasn't sure if she had any food at the apartment. Her earnings weren't exactly worth the penalty of getting caught, but they would be more than enough to splurge later. Still, she figured she could grab a quick bite to eat.
Stopping by a shoddy-looking convenience store, she grabbed a couple of packaged sandwiches, two tall bottles of tea, and a large bowl of instant ramen.
"Are you here by yourself?" The clerk asked her as the girl handed him the bill. Why would he ask her that, though? If she said yes, what was he gonna say, "tell your parents a stranger said 'hello'?" And if she said no, then was he gonna tell her not to be by herself? She really didn't feel like being lectured by some random clerk when all she wanted was some damned food.
"No, my parents are nearby! But I've been getting good grades lately, so they let me get whatever I wanted!" She replied, raising her pitch and dragging some words out to sound cuter. She flashed a stupidly wide grin that hurt her cheeks, and the clerk smiled back as he handed back her change.
"Well, that's very good! You must be so smart!" He praised in the patronizing tone adults always had. If only he knew... "But you should go back to your parents now, okay?"
"Okay! Thank you very much, mister!" She skipped out the door, letting out a groan as she relaxed her posture. When no one was looking. She went along her way, taking the time to duck into an alley. Judging by the smell, the man was still here. She peeked her head around a dumpster and a man that covered in tattered clothes, a filthy face, and long, unkempt hair and beard. The homeless man spotted her as he looked over her way.
"If it isn't the roaming girl!" He muttered in a hoarse voice and a creepy smile with a couple missing teeth. He hadn't looked like he had eaten, at least not since the last time she came around. She handed him a sandwich and bottle of tea. "Much obliged!" He said as grasped her gifts. The man ripped open the packaging and scarfed the sandwich down right away. Meanwhile, the girl leaned on the wall opposite to the homeless man and ate her food at a much more reserved pace. "You got bored enough to come all the way out here?"
"Just in the neighborhood," She answered in between bites. She liked how the homeless man worded his question. He didn't particularly care what the girl was up to. Neither one asked the other any actual questions the other would care to answer. Hell, they didn't even know each other's names. She gave him food, and he didn't say anything to piss her off. "Just figured I'd see if you hadn't starved to death or got run out of here by now."
"Ha! How nice of you to care!" He leaned back, apparently leaving his tea for later. Either that, or he didn't like the taste but had the sense to not say it in front of the person who gave it to him for free. The pair stayed silent for the rest of the time it took for the girl to finish her food. She took a sip of her tea to wash it down, and threw her trash in the nearby dumpster.
"Well, nice seeing ya. I'm off," She gave a half-hearted wave as she turned around to leave.
"Keep your eyes open," He said as she left. "Stay quick, kid."
She responded with another lackluster wave without even bothering to turn around. She liked how he worded that, too. It wasn't "go home to your parents" or "children shouldn't be out so late", but rather "Do what you want, but don't be stupid". Instead of being telling her what to do, he just recommended she be safe. Though the girl guessed it was only because she gave him free food or something.
So as she kept her eyes open and feet quick, she headed out to explore on her own.

With her hunger sated, the little girl set out to explore the more... unpopulated sections as she continued on her little journey. By the time she got there, the sun had already begun its descent, ready to plunge the world into a world of orange above. But she had finally made her way to her destination. It just meant that she wouldn't have much time to look around today. There were quite a few closed down shops and businesses in this part of town, so none of them really stood out in particular. Except for this one. What used to be some kind of small office building was now lost to time, or at least had been closed down longer than the little girl had been alive. She ducked around to an alley between it and some run-down flower shop that never seemed to get any customers.
The girl reached into her book-bag, digging around on of the smaller pockets to find some of her spare hairpins. Her hand then suddenly brushed up against something unfamiliar, however. She pulled it out to inspect it quickly. Black and silver in color, it looked like some kind of child's toy. Like some sort of communicator for some boy's action show. She... didn't remember lifting this kind of crap. Did one of her classmates try and slip it into her bag by mistake? Well, it wasn't any of her business. Their fault for putting it in the wrong place in the first place. Plus, she didn't want to be accused of stealing it, either. It all sounded like trouble, so she simply dropped it onto the ground, landing near a pile of cigarette butts. She then pulled out a couple of hairpins.
The door in the alley was relatively inconspicuous, save for a shiny new lock that held it in place. If this place was closed down for longer than she'd been alive, where did this lock from all of a sudden? Was it because some sort of vandals came through here often, and the land owner got tired of it? Or maybe it was a secret hiding spot for the Yakuza to hide some contraband! Either way, the little girl was dying to find out. And a simply lock like this was no problem for the girl. She had to snap her hairpins in half in order to use them properly, but she still had plenty to spare.
She couldn't help but smirk when the lock came loose and she pulled it off the door. She had gotten this trick down only fairly recently, and she couldn't help but feel like some sort of master thief whenever she pulled it off. She dropped the broken hairpins back into her bag as to not leave evidence, and then the lock as a trophy of her conquest. Even if there wasn't anything interesting inside, at least she'd have something to remember her little journey!
The little girl wasn't quite satisfied with stealing a lock, however. She put her hand on the doorknob and let out a sigh of relief. She turned it, opened up the door, and set foot into the dusty darkness.

As the girl pulled the door open, it let out a loud groan as the entire doorframe let out a high-pitched groan. It was dark inside, so she left the door open to let the pre-sunset light her way through. She cautiously stepped inside, putting her hands along the walls of the hall. It took her a second for her eyes to adjust to the dim light, but once they did she proceeded to move along. Going down the hall, she could see two pathways at the end of the hall; a closed door that presumably led to some back room or a supply closet or something, and an open doorway that led to the lobby of whatever business this place used to be for. She wanted to know what was behind the door, but she figured she might as well see if there was anything of interest in the lobby, first.
As she turned the corner she noticed that the windows and front door were boarded up and the light from the open side door didn't feel like joining the girl around the corner. Still, rays of fading sunlight passed through the cracks of the boards, giving the girl just enough light to see where she was going. Next time, she should remember to bring a flashlight or something.
Even though there wasn't much she could see, it didn't look like there wasn't anything to find, regardless. The entire lobby had been stripped clean of any furniture and even the carpet was ripped out. She wondered if there had been some kind of grisly murder here or something. That would be kind of sick. She couldn't help but keep the smile off her face.
Still, what may have been cool in the past definitely didn't lead up to the present. The little girl spun around, exiting the lobby and heading towards the door. Pulling out another hairpin from her book-bag she prepared to get to work again. It was a little difficult in the dark but given enough time she could pick a simple lock blindfolded. She even practiced it a few times.
But as she was getting to work, she noticed something that froze her up completely. There was a dim light emanating from underneath the door. Was there a window in the other room? No... the sun was setting on the other side, so it shouldn't be giving off that strong of a light! So that meant there was a light on in there. And there was light in an otherwise dark room, that meant there were-
"Shit!" The doorknob suddenly twisted, snapping the girl's lock-picking hair accessories in the process. The door swung open, and the silhouette of a large, imposing male figure blocked her line of sight to the inside of the room. He was looking directly above her, and it took him a second for him to notice the little girl. But that little girl didn't waste that precious second. She darted down the hall towards the open doorway only to hear large footsteps come after her. She heard a man grunt and a hand suddenly grasped her shoulder. She let out a scream as she jerked her shoulder away with all her might.
He didn't manage to have a strong grasp on the girl, and she managed to jerk free with surprising ease. But she pulled back with so much force that the girl slammed herself into the wall and tumbled to the ground. She heard a loud thud behind her as the man attempting to grab her fell forwards. Still, she couldn't stop moving. She crawled forward, using the momentum to try and bring herself back up to her feet, but a large hand suddenly grasped her ankle. She fell flat on the floor.
The little girl kicked at the man's hand with all her might, letting out her loudest scream all the while, but other than a couple groans of pain it didn't have any effect. Instead, he began to effortlessly drag her closer to him until he pulled her body underneath his. His hand moved from her ankle to her face, probably an attempt to silence her, but she turned her head to the side at the last second. Her only hope was that she could keep screaming until somebody came to help, so she had to keep it up for as long as possible.
As his hand pressed down on her face, she jerked her head back forward and bit down as hard as she could on his pinky finger. Now the large man was letting out a scream and try to pull his hand away, but the girl suddenly grasped his arm and bit down so hard she could taste blood. She wanted to make that hand as unusable as possible. , but it didn't last long. He pulled back his other hand and drove his fist into her right side.
The girl's torso suddenly exploded into agony as she felt every muscle in her body weaken. Her arms unconsciously went to protect her torso and she attempted to curl up and protect her body. But then the man grabbed her face and covered her mouth. She attempted to shake her head but she didn't have any strength left. Instead, she tried to look out the door, hoping that someone would appear to help her. But instead, she heard another man's footsteps, then saw a pair of boots walk up to the door. She saw the door slam shut, taking the fading sun's light with it.

The large man carried her back into the room where she had tried to break into earlier. She was dropped unceremoniously in the corner furthest from the door. She let out a grunt of pain as she did so curling up and clutching her torso. Wherever that guy hit her, she just couldn't shake the pain off. She let out a whimper of protests as the man suddenly took her book-bag from her and tossed it to the other man that had closed the door on her.
There was a lamp sitting on the floor in the very center of the room. She didn't see any electrical cords or anything, so it must had to have a battery in it. There were cheap-looking folding chairs on either side of the lamp, with a deck of cards sitting on one of the seats. She spotted two sleeping bags in the corner of the room and large assortment of snacks in the other. Next to one of the seats, was a black duffel bag that looked to be full of something.
The large man that she had hit her was an obscenely well-muscled man in a tight white tank-top shirt, black cargo pants, and black military boots. He had to have been at least two meters tall, with a dark buzz-cut with tattoos of various serpents going up both arms. The other man was a much more slender build. He had long, black hair tied back into a ponytail. He wore a long-sleeved black shirt, with matching pants and boots. He wasn't nearly as tall or as built as snakeman, but he wasn't scrawny, either. And it wasn't like the little girl was going to be overpowering them any time soon, regardless.
"Now what do we have here..." the girl looked on in disgust as ponytail opened up her bag and dumped all her contents onto the floor, pilfering through the brand new clutter. He opened up one of her notebooks. "It's nice to meet you... Hirano Airi-chan?" He closed the notebook and dropped it back on the floor. "Can you tell me what you're doing in here?"
She didn't like that the man knew her name, but Airi could only try to roll with the punches. Tears suddenly started to roll down her face. It wasn't that hard, considering the circumstances. "I'm sorry, mister! I didn't mean to trespass! There... there was a creepy man that was following me! I didn't want him to know where I lived, so I tried to hide somewhere until he left!"
"Really? So how did you get in through the lock?" He asked with an amused tone. He stepped over to her. Kneeling down with the lock hooked over a finger, dangling it mere centimetres from her face.
"I..." Airi had a little more trouble explaining that one. So she started sobbing even louder. "I just found it on the ground! It was red and shiny so I picked it up! I'm sorry and I won't ever do it again!"
The man suddenly flicked his wrist around and the lock swung around and smacked the girl in the forehead. Her sobs ceased to the pain as her vision blurred, and she felt his hand run through his hair as he suddenly pulled her face up with a fistful of hair.
"I don't know what kind of game you're playing at, little girl, but you fucked up big time by decided to break into here of all places. We were trying really hard not to be seen, but you've gone and ruined that now, haven't you?" The man didn't seem particularly angry at the girl. He just seemed... annoyed for some reason. Like she was some kind of mess that needed cleaning up.
"Please don't hurt me anymore..." She pleaded, half a plea for pity, and the other half completely genuine. "I won't tell anyone what I saw, okay? I... I won't tell anyone you're having a sleepover, okay?" Snakeman began to choke a brief fit of laughter down while ponytail simply flashed a grin.
"It's not about what you saw, Airi-chan!" He said, letting go of her hair, then trying to gently brush it straight with his fingers. "But we're expecting a very important delivery, but the deliveryman only likes to work in secret! Do you understand so far?"
Airi resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Even a fucking drug dealer or whatever was being patronizing towards her. She just nodded with her tear-soaked eyes and remained silent.
"Good. But if the deliveryman finds out that we couldn't keep this place a secret, he won't want to deliver here anymore. And that's really bad news for us, since our bosses will get really mad at us! "I don't want to hurt you since you're such a sweet girl, Airi-chan, but I don't have a choice. I have to look out for myself!" He suddenly pulled her up by her collar, then pushed her towards snakeman. "You take care of her. Just break her neck, or something." He looked away as Airi felt a large pair of hands slide down her head and down to her shoulders.
"Please wait! You don't have to..."
"I really hate this part. Sorry, kid."
"Would you two dipshits just shut the fuck up and listen to me for one goddamn second!?" She suddenly yelled out as loud as she could get. Ponytail suddenly looked back towards her in shock as she felt snakeman's grip loosen. "Oh my god, you 'don't have a choice'? What kind of bullshit reasoning is that? You kill me and what are you gonna do with my body? The deliveryman gonna show up, look at my corpse and go, 'good work for killing that girl that broke in, champs! I'll tell your boss to give to a raise!'?" She made a mocking thumbs-up at the pair as she said it. "Fuck no! They're still gonna wonder how those goons were so goddamned incompetent that a girl in fuckin' grade-school managed to break in to their secret base!"
"Listen up, you little bitch..." Ponytail wasn't reacting well to Airi's new approach at reasoning, but she decided to double down.
"You listen up, you... raggedy-haired... ignoramus! You kill me and we're all fucked! But if you let me go, I put the lock back where it was, and no one's the wiser!"
"We can't risk you telling someone-"
"And who the hell is gonna believe a nine-year-old girl?" She countered. "And even if I do talk, you know my name, and since I'm still wearing my uniform, chances are your people will know where to find me!" She jerked her thumb towards snakeman. "Hell, this guy is way too eager to grab me! A pervert like him probably already knows what every grade-school uniform looks like! Probably can't even get within 100 metres any of them!"
"Wait, that's not even close to true..." Snakeman suddenly got incredibly defensive as he unconsciously distanced himself from the child, and Airi seized the opportunity. She took whatever strength she had recovered from the blow to her liver or kidney or whatever and made a mad dash out of the room, turning the corner making her way down the hall. The two goons were too stunned to immediately react, but they took chase soon after. Ponytail got out of the room first, but it seemed that snakeman was the faster one as they nearly tripped over each other. She managed to get to the end of the hall, get through the door... and immediately trip over something.
"Oh, my!" She heard a voice exclaim as a small hand grabbed her arm and set her back on her feet. Standing beside Airi was the same weeby cat-nun lady from the train station. She was holding the black and silver toy Airi had thrown away earlier. She placed it back into Airi's hands.
"Who the fuck are you!?" She heard ponytail yell out as the pair of goons catch up.
"Excuse me, but I believe that belongs to you!" She said, ignoring the men entirely. "And you." Her smile disappeared as she gave the girl a cold stare with her strange, silver eyes. She placed a finger square in the center of the girl's chest. "You belong to me, now." She raised some sort of t-shaped metal object that glimmered in the sunset, and swung it down on top of Airi's head.
After that, was blackness.
~End~
