Ramon blinked at first at the name Wall Mart, then realization crept onto his face as he put the two together; ah, so he meant Wal-Mart de Mexico? From what he understood from a trip his father took once to the U.S, you could buy anything there. Of course, there was the issue of Ramon not having any idea what a "Digivice" was. He crossed in arms as he contemplated it for a moment; of course it had something to do with Digimon, was it a way to control them somehow, or make them stronger? Either way, Gabe made it seem as though obtaining a Digivice would be mandatory in order for him to become a tamer. So, that was that, then.
Though, there was one other thing that bothered him, Gabe's words had implied that tamers weren't just something you could become very easily, or perhaps quickly. Ramon could be patient for a little bit, but he knew eventually his impatience could easily get the best of him. Ramon himself felt somewhat impartial to Gabe's words, he didn't doubt him. After all, this Digimon in disguise had probably been here in Japan for a while now, so there wasn't any reason to take what he said as false. Still, that being said, Ramon's will hadn't been shaken just yet. Gabe's attitude seemed to have changed once Ramon brought forth his wish, did it bother him that Ramon had wanted to become a tamer?
"So... basically, what 'chur saying is that I need a Digivice in order to be a tamer, if I'm readin' you bien. That, and DATS can't really help me out. Even if it's not really that common for people to become tamers, 's better to try then not be able to protect 'churself at all. Also, 's 'dere some kinda risk not in the job description? You look a bit tense, amigo." Ramon asked, trying to figure out why a Digivice was important, and more pressing, how he could find his own.

Gabe stood up from his spot against the tree. He had to admit, seeing the fire in Ramon's eyes was definitely admirable. Crossing his arms as a smirk crossed his lips, it really was amazing to see someone so young, so ready to join a world like the Digital one. He had seen newcomers run away, he had seen newbies become hellbent on destruction, but no, this guy just had a determination that he hadn't seen in a human's eye in a long time, a raw one, the type of determination that would get you farther in life.
He listened to Ramon's words carefully, just to make sure that he was understanding what he was saying and he wasn't instilling some possibly life ending idea into the poor kid's head. At least he understood that it wasn't the easiest to grab a Digivice, and that DATS wasn't anybody's personal bodyguard. Though he still seemed adamant about trying to protect himself. Jeesh, most people would've just skipped out by now. Most teenagers below the age of sixteen were pretty 'try once and forget about it' in their mindsets, so this was surprising.
The last question required a bit of thought though. Really, Gabe couldn't lie to the kid about what had happened in the Digital World before. That was..what did humans call it, false advertising. With a sigh, he replied,
"Well, I can't really lie to you about it. Having a Digivice, a partner, it doesn't mean you're safe. Darian almost died last year. We've both almost been killed several times now actually. A Digimon can only protect you in so many ways, humans are still fragile and easy to hurt." Gabe explained, giving a pretty significant notice as to why his mood may have been darkening, "I just don't want to convince you it's all sugar and rainbows and then hear you got killed one day, eh."
If anything, this should at least scare the boy a little bit. There was no way he was going to take the chance of unstoppable death just to have a Digimon, would he? Kids weren't that crazy now were they?

Ramon hadn't expected everything involving Digimon to be very great, not after his second experience with a Digimon having been a creepy and hostile thing with too many eyes. The fact was that he didn't know as much about Digimon as others; he had barely any knowledge at all, in fact. Even if he did manage to become partners with a Digimon, could he get along with it well? He'd heard Gabe mention his tamer Darian a few times, and wondered for a moment what it might have been like for him to start out as a tamer. At this point, he decided to try and avoid bringing up anything that might hint at wanting advice from Gabe, after all, if Gabe was unsure about a few things then maybe it was better to figure things out for himself anyways.
Actually, speaking of which, that was one thing Ramon found somewhat intriguing about his new friend. He didn't want to hear Ramon had been killed or injured, eh? Ramon would find himself adopting an understanding smile while he kept his arms at his sides. He was a little surprised to see someone he had only met for a day have any empathy toward him, but it made him feel far more comfortable knowing that there was someone who didn't want anything bad to happen to him. Maybe certain Digimon grew attached to humans faster than others, or it could have just been a part of Gabe's personality, but either way Ramon was appreciative.
What Gabe had mentioned about being protected most likely had a lot of experience behind it, aside from just his word of mouth about almost being killed quite a few times. Ramon had only been in a dangerous situation a couple of times, and those had resolved themselves somewhat quickly. He assumed that an encounter with a Digimon might not go over as well as some other situations back in Tijuana.
"Well, gracias, Gabe. I don't think I could really say I had any friends 'till today rolled by, even if things have been kinda turbio earlier, what with that UFADO guy. 'S nice to hear 'dat someone wants me around, even if it's a Digimon I just met, y' know?" Ramon said, trying to convey a sense of bonding with Gabe.
Ramon understood what Gabe was saying, humans, compared to Digimon, probably weren't very threatening, though he had yet to see what human weapons could do to a Digimon. Nevertheless, Ramon would make it a priority to meet as few Digimon as possible until he found one he could call a partner, if nothing else but to assuage Gabe's worry. While the idea of death wasn't something Ramon was particularly comfortable with, at the same time, he didn't feel as though his choices were too varied. If he had no Digimon at all, his risk of death by Digimon related incident would probably not be too low, or so he thought. With a partner, at least that percentage had a chance to be lowered, again, an assumption on Ramon's part, but one he made out of some rationalization.
"I can't believe 'jhu two had problems on THAT, big a scale, I mean, it seems crazy, 'jhu know? Seeing new creatu-... uhh... life forms that look so varied and whatnot, but also being at risk for 'chyur life and all. Well... the thing's that are worth it ain't really ever that easy 'dho, right? I think if I do become a tamer... I dunno senor, I think it'd be worth it, jus' to be the best I can."

Gabe hadn't really realized that he was kinda setting up this kid for a whole world of action, adventure, possible death, giant monsters, and plots to rule both worlds, but as that thought dawned on him, he wasn't really sure if he was doing the right thing. Sure, it was probably good that after an experience with a Digimon such as UFADO, it might be a good idea to know some things yourself about Digimon, but Ramon seemed pretty dead set about getting a Digimon and a partner of his own. Hell, if he was that determined, a Digivice might just pop into his hand at any moment. Though, that wasn't how it really worked was it? Gabe wasn't sure.
He looked back towards Ramon as the boy began to thank him for caring. Gabe smirked, had this been a few years ago, his only real priority would have been Darian. Looks like Darian's care about everyone and anyone personality really had rubbed off on him. Well, when you're the attempted hero at every bad situation, he guessed this was the kind of personality required. Though, through Ramon's gratitude, Gabe caught one interesting fact out of his words. If he wasn't mistaken, that was the first time that he had ever been referred to as a Digimon by the boy. Looks like he had definitely accepted the fact of just what he was talking to.
A step in the right direction, for sure.
Gabe listened as Ramon shared his disbelief in just how unfortunate Darian and Gabe's times in the Digital World have been. Though, much to Gabe's own disbelief, the boy STILL didn't seem frightened at all. Gabe was beginning to wonder what the hell they built kids out of these days, cause this kid was fearless. He mentioned how it'd be worth it, something about being the best he could be. Well, it would change his life that's for sure.
"Hehe, well, you definitely wouldn't see things the same way anymore. I mean, you've seen one Digimon, imagine a world of them. Hell, you don't even exactly know what I look like. Yet you still want to venture into that world. There's no turning back once you're in. But, as long as you're okay with that, a Digivice may just one day be yours after all.

"I wouldn't see things the same way anymore, eh ese? Well, tell tell 'jhu the truth, I already don't, heh. I mean, I know 'dere are probably other kinds o' Digimon that don't look like UFADO, but now that the cat's outta the bag about the whole thing, I can't help but be both curious about and unnerved about the whole thing. Well, that and I don't really plan on going to a whole world of 'jhu guys, if I can help it!" Ramon spoke, laughing a little at the end. The idea was preposterous to him, there was no way he would be going to an entire WORLD, filled with Digimon if he could help it.
"To be honest w'ich you Gabe, I don't even know if being a tamer is something I would like, but I'd rather not be left out to the wolves to defend myself, ju' know? I'd like to be able to have some self reliance n what not. Although, getting stronger quickly would probably be a priority at 'dis rate. At least if I saw UFADO again, I could give him a what for with my own partner, if things came down to that."
Ramon didn't want Gabe to get the wrong idea about what he was going for here, he did want a Digimon, but not to go out gamboling into some wilds he didn't know anything about. While the prospect of going to another world did excite him a little, he knew that he would be ill prepared to make such a venture this early into his trip to Japan, and without having a Digimon, he wouldn't be able to get very far; or so he assumed. After all, Ramon still had to work at being the next World Cup team MvP, and he couldn't do that very well while trying to balance trips between two worlds now, could he? Wait, did Digimon even have anything resembling a sport in their world? Ramon was unsure, but he found the idea silly, what, did they also throw pig skin around and slam into each other like.... actually Ramon wouldn't have been too surprised to see any Digimon attacking each other like that.
The sky above was still blue, though tinges of orange could be seen starting to creep into the air, signaling that the sun was going down, and that at best Ramon had maybe two hours more to be out.
"Uhhh, so, before what happened with UFADO, I don't know if 'chu still have any time left, but how about that one on one, eh? Ramon asked, wanting to get in a better form of practice before the day potentially ended.

So the kid didn't plan on going to the Digital World at all eh? Gabe smirked, one that was wide and very easy to see. This time it was because of Ramon's naivete. He wanted a Digivice and a Digimon, yet had no plans to enter the world of those creatures? Whether he liked it or not, now that he was so hell bent on achieving these things, the Digital World would see him enter it sooner or later. It was just...unavoidable really. Hell, he had been inadvertently sucked through a portal several times. The Digital World was just the rabbit hole that a tamer inevitably needs to fall through.
Gabe listened closely at Ramon's second speech. His smirk turned slightly into a bit of a frown. It was understandable that he wanted to be able to defend himself properly, yes, but Gabe had seen what the priority to get stronger quickly had done to people. Even the most innocent of people. Gabe's voice suddenly took a slightly more serious tone,
"Dude, if you happen to get a Digimon at any point in time, take this as a warning, or whatever else you think it is, but don't make getting stronger a priority. It's bad news. It'll either come naturally or it won't come at all. But focusing on it as your main priority is just a good way to end up stuck in a place you'll never crawl out of."
As Gabe's slight intensity faded, he let out a small sigh. Give him a couple years of his life back and he'd have never rattled on about something like that. But given what he has now seen, well, screwing around with the amount of power one person holds was just bad news from personal experience alone. He wondered if Ramon had caught any of the changes in his verbal patterns, was he perceptive enough to catch Gabe's joking nature fade away so quickly?
He was caught out of his thoughts by Ramon speaking once again, talking about the one on one, Gabe's smirk returned,
"You sure you want to take on a wolf? I mean, faster, stronger...you sure you can even keep up?" Gabe remarked with a playful grin.

Ramon's left eyebrow raised itself, and a smirk appeared on his face as Gabe provided a warning, cautioning the act of pursuing strength too relentlessly. Ramon took in what his new friend said, though he couldn't help but feel Gabe may have taken what he'd said a little too far. Nevertheless, Ramon righted his posture and stood up straight, trying not to give off an air of disrespect. Ramon pocketed his hands, his right foot still on his soccer ball as he turned his face to the side a little bit, looking just past Gabe. After Gabe was finished speaking, Ramon faced him again, his smirk having shrunken into just barely a smile, but he maintained his air of confidence as he spoke.
"Hey, amigo. If I had never pushed myself, I would'a never gotten any good at football, maybe things come naturally, but skill and prowess don'. Ah, but 'chur right, it ain't like improving myself is the only thing I have time for, a guy like me's gotta keep things balanced between school and my team, you know? If my grades drop too low, adios sports career." Ramon said, taking his left arm out of his pockets and emphasizing the adios with a wave off to the sky.
That did bring up a decent point, actually. If Ramon was going to have a partner, he'd have to find out where to keep his new friend. That and he'd still have to show up for practice AND maintain decent grades. Geez, this was going to be harder to figure out than he'd thought, how did tamers put up with so many things for so long? Did some of them just not care about any of their responsibilities, or did they even need to; what with having their own personal Digimon? Ramon sighed as he contemplated his options, it was either learn how to adapt to things here in Japon, or go back to Mexico and attend one of the most likely lesser known colleges or universities. He couldn't have that, not with his future career on the line!
Ramon looked back up as Gabe replied to his previous challenge. In response, Ramon's own face took on it's familiar fiery look when faced with a challenge, and Ramon flexed his right arm with a windmill motion. So, he was going up against a wolf of some kind, eh? He'd never imagined a scenario so silly being carried out, though at the same time having any kind of opponent was always welcome. Ramon found himself becoming increasingly interested in what Gabe's true guise was, though he had a feeling he would find out someday.
"T'yu may be el lobo, but Coyote's can be quick too, 'chu know! Let's get this started!"
After his response, Ramon walked casually back over toward the fold up goal he had placed on the ground earlier. Ramon undid a plastic tab in the middle, separating the two sides of the goal. After fiddling with a mechanism on both of the halves, the two each became their own goal post, albeit one side was slightly shorter. Ramon placed the posts on opposite sides of a small field outlined with white chalk, and afterward placed the soccer ball at his feet, waiting for Gabe to position himself.
"So, who's takin' the first move?" Ramon asked.

Gabe was beginning to get the idea that maybe the two of them were understanding each other differently than they both had expected. Gabe may have thought the boy was taking it too nonchalantly, meanwhile Ramon may have found that he wasn't going to take this as intensely as Gabe had thought he was going to. That was the difficulty with the way that Gabe saw things nowadays. He was quick to judge someone's intentions, unfortunately, he had to be after all the things that had happened recently.
Gabe did allow himself a small chuckle when Ramon mentioned schooling. Good lord that really was one of the most difficult aspects of being a Tamer. While Darian managed to pass with the average marks that allowed him to graduate (not needing a further job due to being very well paid thanks to DATS), Darian's girlfriend Kanna had somehow managed to become a sort of peacekeeper in the Digiworld, have a boyfriend, be a tamer, and STILL somehow manage to score high nineties in all of her classes. It was actually quite ridiculous.
"Well, at least you've got the idea of balance in your head. That's good."
He smirked as Ramon's competitiveness reared itself. With a flex of his arm as if he was ready for the opening game of the world cup, Ramon seemed to be ready to play. Gabe cracked his neck in both directions, smirking, it had been a long time since he had participated in "friendly" competition. Reaching out in front of him he stretched his fingers and wrists, before pulling on the back of his legs to stretch them as well. Setting himself in front of his goal post, he spread his legs slightly, balancing on the tips of his toes, ready to move in an instant. He kept one foot slightly ahead of the other, if he needed to swing for a kick quickly, well, he was prepared.
"Be my guest!" Gabe replied to Ramon's first move inquiry.

Ramon allowed a cocky, yet excitable grin to wriggle onto his face. He could feel the energy surging through him as a new challenge presented itself. His actually monster from another world who looked like a human friend (what a mouthful), who's soccer abilities he did not yet fully comprehend! What a thrill; to face off against an opponent of unknown skill! Of course, Ramon would be giving it his all, like he always did. After all, what kind of rising soccer super star would he be if he didn't always do the best job possible?
Ramon took a moment to calculate the trajectory of his shot, and gauge his power. His body tensed up, and the muscles in his left leg began to jitter about as he launched his foot at the ball. With force, the ball surged upward, at about a 70 degree angle. His goal (teehee) was to launch the ball above Gabe, and he was then hoping to outrun Gabe to go for an easy first score. Immediately after his foot connected with the ball, Ramon made a run for it, a made dash to see who could catch up with the ball first.
Of course, if Gabe was an actual wolf, he wondered whether or not he would be easily outran. It was time to find out!.

Now, if it was one thing that could be said about Darian and Gabe's sports excursions, Darian was a much better basketball player, but soccer, well, soccer was where most of Gabe's victories came from. Gabe's eyes twitched slightly to glance at Ramon's foot as he reared back for the first kick. It looked like he was going to try for the long ball. Perfect, Gabe could catch it out of the air and circle around for a quick goal. Or at least, that was the plan. Plans could fail, plans could be successful.
As the ball was kicked, Gabe smirked as his prediction proved to be true. Turning on his heel in almost an instant, he let out a quiet but challenging growl as he turned into a sprint. Following the ball, he craned his neck over his shoulder to check on the ball, it was coming down ten or so feet in front of him. Good! He picked up some speed, hoping to stay clear ahead of Ramon as he ran. Turning again to face Ramon's goal, and the incoming Ramon, Gabe made his move.
Pointing his chest upwards, he brought the ball to a full stop, allowing it to roll from his chest to his right foot. Spotting Ramon incoming, Gabe placed his foot on the left side of the ball, and in a quick faking maneuver, slid the same to the right side, tapping it lightly to pass it to himself. With another tap he put it wide, clearing his vision and hopefully making way for a clear shot with the left foot. He didn't care how far away from the goal he was, if it went in it went in. Maybe this was just a shot to show off, who knew?! Driving his foot backwards, he swung his left forwards, slamming into the center of the ball with the side of his foot, sending it on the path to what Gabe hoped was a goal.
(Sports are difficult to write XD Anywho, feel free to determine the outcome of this ball.)

Ramon's eyes flared up as he realized just how much he would have to push himself to have a shot at defeating Gabe. He was fast, seriously fast, most likely even faster than Ramon himself was! After Ramon's kick, Gabe was able to obtain the ball in a much quicker time than him, and to make matters worse, he now had control over the ball. Ramon would either have had to steal the ball back, or try to prevent any action to get a goal in on his net. However, that was all easier said than done when faced with an opponent who most likely had more agility. Still, Ramon kept his feet on the ground, and tried to be ready to spring wherever he needed to be.
Ramon caught a glimpse of Gabe's foot on the left side of the ball, and while he considered a few possibilities in his head, Ramon stopped in his tracks roughly 13 feet away and watched Gabe's movements. Rather than charge in, he felt perhaps a more patient approach would suit him in this case. Gabe then quickly passed the ball to his other foot, and with some maneuvering, tried to get the ball past Ramon, or out of his reach at any rate. As Gabe charged to the side, Ramon followed him as closely as possible, and watched Gabe's foot connect with the ball. Instinctively, Ramon, dove into the way of the ball, or he would have, had Ramon not been off by just a little bit of an amount.
He'd ended up under-estimating the kick strength, and the ball sailed just over his head, and headed toward the goal. Ramon's face turned to shock as the ball neared his goal, however; luckily for him, the ball also happened to go over his own net. Shaking his head to clear himself, Ramon stood up straight and ran over to retrieve the ball. Once he returned to the field with their tool of destruction, Ramon placed the ball at his feet once more.
"Geez man, one heck of' a foo-......uhhh.. paw, 'chu got there? "
OOC: Also who goes from here? Does Ramon keep the ball or does Gabe take it?

(You can keep the ball. I mean, if I took it now, it'd be powerplaying, so you just go ahead. God damn sports RP's XD)
So Gabe's little foot trickery had worked, managing to get around Ramon before he was able to get in front and kicking it right past him as he dove. Unfortunately, Gabe had misunderstood his strength and the rather light soccer ball soared right over Ramon's head and unfortunately, over the net he had been aiming at as well. Gabe cursed inwardly, he was hoping he could show off with a perfect shot off the first kick, but unfortunately he managed to overshoot it instead. As Ramon placed the ball to his feet again, Gabe smirked towards his comment.
"I do believe the description you were looking for was 'clawed feet', but thanks!" Gabe said with a grin.
Now that Ramon had the ball, Gabe instinctively bent low to the ground, watching Ramon's eyes while carefully searching for foot movement in his peripherals. If Ramon was going to make a move against his goal, usually either the eyes would make the first move, or the leg would twitch towards a higher purpose. Gabe wasn't going to let that first goal get in on him. Not a chance.
"Your move! Show me that world cup style you've got!"

World cup style, eh? If that's what Gabe wanted, Ramon would kick things up a notch, then! In his head, Ramon quickly relayed his information; the most important thing being that Gabe was way faster than he'd thought. With that being the case, Ramon would have to try hard to either outmaneuver him, or try some other tactic to get him to lower his guard. Acting out the situation in his head briefly, Ramon pictured himself trying to get the ball around Gabe. He knew that trying to go from the sides would be too risky, Gabe could certainly get around him or probably outmaneuver the ball from under him. With that in mind, Ramon took a different approach to his situation.
Ramon knelt for a moment, extending his right leg behind him. After waiting for a second or two, Ramon kicked forward with his right leg, the ball rocketing forward toward Gabe's position. Ramon would quickly sprint after the ball, and as it rolled to around ten feet in front of Gabe, he would block the ball with his left foot. After this, Ramon stamped his right foot down on the ball, being as quick as possible to maneuver the ball onto his foot. Ramon would then attempt to bounce the ball off of his knee, an attempt to get the ball over and past Gabe, where upon he would try to recover it and go for a shot at Gabe's goal.
Overall, it was a risky ploy, anything against a faster opponent in this case would be, but these kind of options were what Ramon had to use. If Gabe was quick enough to stop the ball or if he figured out in time what Ramon was planning, this ploy could easily end up backfiring on him.

Gabe bounced on his feet, a wide grin on his face as the energy in his body thrilled him. He could go for one hell of a long run right now. Digivolving into Garurumon and going for a long sprint down the plains would definitely be the most preferable way of burning off his energy, but a fun soccer game with a new friend would work as well. Though, he was beginning to wonder just how far he could push this holosuit without it breaking apart on him.
His eyes flicked as Ramon made his move. It all happened in a few short seconds where Ramon's actions brought the ball towards him. Gabe was actually quite impressed when he then maneuvered the ball upwards, bounced it off his knee, in which the ball flew over Gabe quickly with Ramon following quickly.
"Alriiiight Ramon!" Gabe growled, his holosuit flickering as his skin emanated a small amount of radiance.
If there was one thing that not many people knew about holosuits, it was that they didn't break until you reached the champion level. If there was one thing that Ramon may not have noticed, it was that Gabe had just reached the champion level. The only hint being a flash of a glow from his skin, and a slight flicker of his holosuit before it returned to its solid form.
Gabe took off in a sprint, following Ramon. Unfortunately for Ramon, there was no catching a Champion level Digimon as a human. The ball was on its way down as Gabe overtook Ramon. Gabe glanced over his shoulder with a growl before leaping into the air about a meter. As his back was horizontal to the ground his eyes locked on to the ball, kicking his leg upwards, he put all his force into a powerful bicycle kick. His foot ground into the ball, heading on a path towards Ramon's goal. Due to the pure Champion level force being sent into the ball, it was moving incredibly straight.
Finally hitting the ground, the grass dug into his shoulders as he skidded to a halt. Not bothering to look where the ball went, Gabe practically became a star fish in the grass, letting out a loud sigh that sounded more like a howl as he rested.
"Ramon! Did I score?!"

He was close, so close he could see the tiny blades of grass contorting to the ball's weight. Ramon's face began to churn into a serious smile, he could tell that this goal would be his. Of course, then you have Digimon to take into account. With his back turned, Gabe was unfortunate enough to not notice the bright glow coming off of Gabe's body, his focus entirely on the ball in front of him. That was when Gabe appeared next to Ramon, a look of complete shock worming it's way onto the Mexican's face. Ramon's nerves began to falter, his mind looking for an answer; how.... was it possible for Gabe to catch up that quickly?!
Ramon would have stopped dead in his tracks if not for his urge to keep forward, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. In a maneuver Ramon would have only considered super human, the ball hurtled past him like a meteor on collision with a foreign planet, that planet just so happened to be his goal as it turned out! As the shot from Gabe smashed into the ground near Ramon's goal, a cloud of dirt kicked up before Ramon's goal entirely fell over, collapsed from the force of the impact. Ramon stood there, mute and unable to process what had just happened.
That goal should have been his, there was no way Gabe should have been able to catch up to him, not that quickly! He'd gauged his speed before... so how had he made such a grave mistake. Unless... was it possible Gabe's true form managed to give him such speed that he held back before? Ramon sighed, then turned to see his new friend and destroyer of nets laying on the grass. Ramon couldn't help but feel a little outplayed in this situation, but he tried not to let it hold onto him.
"So....ehh.. when you and 'chur tamer play, do you destroy the nets then too ese?As for the score... I'd say you won the match." he spoke, laughing somewhat awkwardly while taking a seat next to Gabe.
"So, when do I get to see what you actually look like, amigo, or are all.... rockies, that fast?"
