Out in the depths of The Macro Ocean well past the reach of the coral reefs, an ancient feline digimon resembling a fishing cat from the Human World only anthropomorphic and powder blue complete with a tail flipper that swished side to side as she swam swiftly along. Nanamimon had enjoyed the coral reefs during the brief time she was near the shoreline and to be fair she was beginning to miss the shore. It made sense considering Nanamimon was normally a thirty eight year old human woman by the name of Stacy that in all other forms swam like a brick.
Nanamimon had been swimming through the ocean for roughly three days after hearing from the Dolphmon she helped out when she found the spirit of Nanamimon. Apparently somewhere in this ocean was the beast spirit for this line but Dolphmon had given her little useful information other than it was within the borders of an undersea kingdom and the king of that kingdom would know more. It would have been useful to know how far this kingdom was and what direction she had to go because she was beginning to get the feeling she was going around in circles. Good thing she could breathe underwater and her current form had no issues with raw fish, sea weed, and algae or she wouldn't have been able to hold this form for three days.
As she peacefully swam along the marine mammal known as Nanamimon got this foreboding feeling and came to a stop treading water and looked around. Soon roughly a dozen Divermon came into view and judging by how they were jabbing their spears at her, they didn't come off as friendly. Her instincts were warning her that these small fish like digimon were ultimates and that was not what she needed right now so maybe she could talk her way out of this tight spot. "I'm just passing through. I came to speak with the king of some kingdom around here in regards to a beast spirit that is one of the ultimate forms of Hinookamimon." Nanamimon said as she held her hands up in a passive gesture.
"Silence invader! You will not get near King Neptunemon and we will not listen to your nonsense!" one of the Divermon snarled jabbing his spear toward her aggressively. Well damn, so much for diplomacy. The only thing she could do is attempt to lose these guys and maybe tail one of the stragglers to the kingdom she was searching for. Time to see how fast this form could go.
Surprising the Divermon by diving down suddenly, Nanamimon took off like a torpedo with the small fish digimon right behind. It was no surprise to her that these digimon were fast but were they as agile as a cat like she was. Spotting an undersea canyon complete with tough corners and sharp rocks, Nanamimon smiled as she accelerated heading right for it. Was it crazy? Most likely but if things worked out she could soon be at the undersea kingdom Dolphmon mentioned. Entering the narrow canyon the agile feline turned the dangerous corners hearing various cries from the Divermon regarding her lack of sanity. Sharp turn after sharp turn caused the Divermon to slow down and begin attacking. 'And they think I'm the crazy one?' Nanamimon thought as she deftly avoided a spear that exploded causing rocks to rain down on her. Somehow though she avoided the worst of the rocks as she dived for the sea floor. Her fur began to change color as unknown to her she camouflaged herself and the Divermon left after not being able to see her anymore.
After Nanamimon returned to her normal color she dug herself free from a light dusting of rubble that fell on top of her. Rising to her feet and gazing around with her brown eyes she realized that the Divermon were well out of sight. "Damn it! Now I have to go back to searching for this kingdom the hard way." Nanamimon moaned before then sarcastically said "Maybe I'll come across more guards and hell maybe they might be willing to listen to me this time." Her broad tail smacked against a rock next to her as it seemed something healthy to take her frustrations out on.
Her ears twitched as she heard someone approach from behind which caused her to spin around seeing a digimon armed with a trident like spear that resembled some kind of fish man with navy blue scales on his body. Her instincts were warning him that the Divermon were small fry compared to him. "Who are you and why have you invaded my kingdom?" the fish man snarled pointing his deadly weapon towards her.
"King Neptunemon I presume?" Nanamimon asked politely recieving a nod and an annoyed snarl in response. "Forgive me if my entry into your territory has offended you but I have humbly come seeking the water beast spirit of the ancient digimon Hinookamimon. A Dolphmon told me it was found somewhere within your borders."
Despite her excellent manners, King Neptunemon scowled at her before he said "The name Hinookamimon has been lost mostly to time since so few tribes even remember that name anymore. How do I know you aren't a spy hired by the one that has been trying to overthrow me?"
"Someone is trying to overthrow you? Do you know who it is? Maybe I can help find the traitor." Nanamimon said hoping her words would reach him.
"Oh you'll help alright." King Neptunemon said before a curious energy shot from his trident like spear forming magical chains that coiled around Nanamimon effectively restraining her. "Eventually you'll give up the identity of your boss, invader."
Two days later....
Nanamimon paced around a cell in the dungeon of the undersea kingdom. Apparently after repeating herself for two days that the only thing she knew about the traitor in the kingdom was what she overheard they decided to leave her in there to rot doing no more than bringing her food. She was telling the truth but to them it seemed her words were just empty lies. Now after two days of eating nothing but sea algae and listening to the gossip of the guards as they spoke to each other, she was sick of eating the algae and listening to the ramblings about the royal family. Though she had no idea who the traitor was or where the beast spirit's location was, she knew that King Neptunemon was married to a Mermaimon and they had a son that was a fresh digimon called Pichimon. King Neptunemon had a younger brother as well that was a mega digimon called Pukumon.
That's it, Nanamimon would have preferred direct torture over this. If she was here much longer she would likely learn more than she ever desired to know considering how much the guards male and female alike enjoyed this gossip. It was like a sport to them and she grew bored of it yesterday since she wasn't allowed to participate. Looking at the bedding in the cell, a smile spread across her face. Now to see if such an obvious trick would work. Arranging the bedding to look like a body she hid herself in the corner of the cell just out of immediate sight. Now all she had to do was wait.
It seemed the wait wasn't long as a guard came with more of that dreaded algae. Was it dinner time already? She had to get out of this cell since she was starting to lose track of time. The cell door came open and the guard poked at the lump presumed to be her. Meanwhile, Nanamimon moved slowly with a grin spread across her face as she snatched ahold of the guards keys and carefully plucked them from the Divermon's belt. Then she slipped out of the cell and closed it quietly behind her right before locking it. The sound of the cell locking caused the guard to spin around catching sight of a powder blue tail flipper before it vanished from his view.
Knowing it was a matter of time before all hell broke loose, Nanamimon made her way stealthily through the palace's corridors. Her ears twitched at every tiny sound but she didn't want to be caught off guard by sneak attack. Last thing she wanted was to end up right back where she started from seeing as the guard in the cell she formerly occupied wouldn't be happy to see her again any time soon. As she passed by a room a familiar voice made her grind to a halt. Poking her head into the room made her eyes widen in surprise.
In the room with Queen Mermaimon was none other than her brother Chris. A man who looked in his twenties but in fact was thirty six years old. He was five foot eleven and as lean as Nanamimon was in her natural human state. He was wearing dark wireframe glasses as well. The lean man was trying to comfort the queen who was in a state of distress but was looking more than a little lost on what to do as he ran his fingers through his thick dark brown hair that was easily longer than his sister's hair just reaching the middle of his neck. "Chris, wha-" was all Nanamimon was able to say seeing as her brain seemed unable to process anything more complex at the moment.
Her voice caused both Queen Mermaimon and her brother to snap their attention to the doorway where Nanamimon stood gaping. Chris recognized his sister's voice but didn't recognize her current form but knew she shouldn't be standing there in plain sight of any passerby so he reached over and pulled her into the room. By the time she was fully in the room Nanamimon recovered enough to say "Chris, how did you get here and why weren't you in the dungeon like I was?" At Chris's confused look she took a deep breath and filled her little brother in on how she came to be searching for a beast spirit only to end up in the dungeon after being accused of being a spy.
Blinking in surprise as he was filled in on the details, Chris figured it was only fair he explain why he was there. "I came here on request of the Queen. She risked her life to come to the surface to find someone to help her husband. She fears that someone within the palace is a threat to his life. By the time we got to the palace him and the King's child had been abducted by King Neptunemon's brother, Pukumon. Though I have a beast spirit I'm afraid it isn't useful for traveling underwater so the King's most trusted guard have left to find the young prince." After filling in his sister he asked "I didn't know that you had another human spirit. What is this one called?"
Nanamimon took in the information she was given. This was starting to sound like a cartoon she and her brothers watched together. One of the episodes had something like this happen but that wasn't important now. Deciding to answer Chris's question she replied "This form is called Nanamimon. Apparently Hinookamimon has a branching evolutionary path and this line is adapted for the water." Turning towards the door Chris figured out what his sister had in mind but before he said anything King Neptunemon appeared in the doorway with a Pichimon cradled to his chest. The king looked dreadful and how he made it back alone was anyone's guess.
Glancing at the king's free hand both siblings noticed that it was seemingly still attached despite how severely injured it was. The queen saw this and moved over to her husband lifting their son and cradling the tiny digimon to her before running to fetch a doctor. King Neptunemon collapsed from a combination of exhaustion and his injuries. Nanamimon and Chris stayed with the king until some medics arrived and took him to the medical wing of the castle.
Several hours later it seemed King Neptunemon's healing was proceeding rapidly. He apparently only kept his hand because he had a healing ability and when used in conjunction with the head doctor's it seemed the king was not only better but now wanted to seek out his brother. Nanamimon knew that look well, the king wanted to bash his brother's head in. Not that she blamed him considering Pukumon had attempted to not only take over the kingdom but murder both his older brother and nephew. Approaching the king, Nanamimon said "Is there anywhere Pukumon would have likely gone, your majesty?"
Shocked that the spirit wielder he imprisoned wrongly was not only approaching him but speaking to him as well, he locked eyes with her before he said "There is one place and it is near where the spirit you seek is? I doubt we'll get very close since some of my army has sided with him and I can't leave my people unprotected."
"What if my sister and I lend you our aid?" Chris asked making Nanamimon smile at her normally passive brother for making that suggestion.
"Then you wouldn't need your entire remaining army to accompany you. What do you think?" Nanamimon asked as she watched the king's changing facial expressions as he considered the siblings' words.
"Let's get going." King Neptunemon said as he headed out the door with Nanamimon and Chris right behind him.
A short time later Nanamimon and Chris along with King Neptunemon and a small group of soldiers were heading to what appeared to be a glacier. Nanamimon and Chris were riding on the back of a Whamon. The other soldiers consisted of two Zudomon and roughly a half dozen or so Divermon. "A glacier ahead. Oh goody." Nanamimon muttered sarcastically.
"There is more than a spirit inside the upcoming glacier. An ancient weapon rumored to be almost as old as the spirit itself is stored inside." King Neptunemon informed as they drew nearer.
"An ancient weapon? Why wasn't the damned thing destroyed all those years ago?" Nanamimon asked resisting the urge to facepalm. Things just kept getting better and better didn't they?
"According to the legend the weapon can only be destroyed by the power of the ancient digimon that is the beast spirit you seek." the king said calmly though he was just as unhappy with the circumstances involving the upcoming battle as Nanamimon was.
"We aren't alone anymore." Chris said as he pointed towards some oncoming MarineDevimon and Divermon which made them slightly outnumbered. The numbers were still manageable if they fought smart though. Standing up Chris clutched his D-Tector in his right hand as fractal coding appeared around his left. Running his hand over the top of his digivice he said "Execute! Beast Spirit Evolution!" Energy engulfed his body taking the shape of white feathers before a beautiful white bird like digimon appeared. "Hippogriffmon!"
Chris, now Hippogriffmon, spread his wings before taking to the air. Holy energy engulfed his body in a way Nanamimon quickly recognized. "No way!"was all she was able to say before the energy took form before her eyes.
"Zodiac Burst!" Hippogriffmon exclaimed as the energy took the form of his sign of the Chinese Zodiac, the rat. The rat shaped burst hit the water sending Pukumon's forces flailing around in confusion.
Out of the corner of her eye the king dove forward swimming for the glacier. As much as she hated the cold, Nanamimon knew she had to cope with it so deciding to get it over with, she leapt off the Whamon and swam after King Neptunemon as the mega sent enemies flying that were unlucky enough to end up in his way. Hippogriffmon would be fine, Nanamimon knew that but at some level she always worried about her younger brothers.
Fortunately the swim didn't take her or the king long considering how fast their swimming pace was. Upon reaching land the two of them launched themselves out of the water landing gracefully in a front flip. "So which way is this spirit?" Nanamimon asked as she glanced around.
"Both the spirit and the weapon are located in a cave a few feet from here. There's just one thing, I want to deal with Pukumon." the king said with a somewhat pained tone to his voice as he pointed to a cave not far from them.
"Aside from Pukumon being a mega, I understand about keeping things in the family. Let's both not do anything to reckless though. We have loved ones that still need us." Nanamimon said as they both headed for the cave.
Entering the cave was uncomfortably easy and Nanamimon and King Neptunemon were on edge. "So about this weapon, what is it supposed to do and how am I supposed to stop it? If it is more complicated than breaking or unplugging it we might have a big problem since I'm not exactly mechanically inclined."
"All the legend said was it reacted to the energy of the element the beast spirit draws power from." he said as what appeared to be a totem came into view. It was behind a blue barrier like the one she found the totem for Blitzwolfmon. Not far from the totem was a horrifying green and black machine with many buttons that did God knows what. Come to think of it Nanamimon didn't want to know what the thing did. It was time to bring that machine down.
As she headed for the totem King Neptunemon saw something diving down towards her and grabbed the powder blue feline before chucking her through the barrier and out of the line of fire seeing it was Pukumon who tried to wipe her out as he revealed himself. "So brother it seems you have survived after all and what's this? Teaming with the one you thought was working for me. Like I would waste my energy with a human."
"That human has the power of Hinookamimon. Surely as a member of the royal family you recognize the ancient digimon, Nanamimon." the king said as he summoned forth his trident like spear and Pukumon brought forth a similar weapon. Then the two began to clash as if Nanamimon wasn't there.
'Sure, Sure, go ahead and devolve to bashing each others heads in like I don't exist. Gives me a chance to snag this spirit and bring down that weapon.' Nanamimon thought as she returned to her human form and brought out her D-Tector aiming it at the totem and drawing it into the digivice. As the barrier vanished she readied to digivolve as fractal coding appeared around her right hand before running it over the top of her D-Tector. "Execute! Beast Spirit Evolution!" A bubble of energy encased her resembling shimmering water as her transforming shadow was seen. When the bubble burst what looked like a quadrepedal version of Nanamimon stood there. This new form was roughly as big as an average horse with a shark like dorsal fin between the shoulder blades. On her elbows were smaller fins resembling her new dorsal fin. "Adiramon!" the new digimon called out announcing her name to all within the cave.
It seemed Pukumon was too busy battling his brother as their weapons clashed. Which was good for Adiramon as she sprinted for the death weapon trying to figure out how to stop it. It reacted to the element she drew power from but how would that help her in this situation? Looking around she saw what looked like a hole just slightly larger than her current form. Was she supposed to climb inside or something? While that didn't sound like the smartest option on the surface, maybe the weak spot as it were was in that little passage and it was obvious it was meant for an Adiramon to deal with this problem.
Taking a deep breath, Adiramon climbed into the passage her dorsal fin between her shoulders bending so she could continue to fit but it caused her no pain. Soon she reached the back of the machine seeing lots of sensitive equipment. 'Now I need to utilize the power of the element of water.' Adiramon thought. Closing her eyes she channeled her aquatic power as she said "Tempest Whip!" Three whips of hard water formed from the moisture she gathered around herself as the raw force of her attack sent her hurtling out of the machine. The weapon itself began sparking and crumbing in on itself until it was a steaming useless pile of scrap. Tired she returned to her human self.
Meanwhile the battle between the two mega level brothers was taking a nasty turn as Pukumon saw the weapon was useless and went after Stacy in her defenseless state. King Neptunemon launched his weapon at Pukumon impaling his brother. As Pukumon's data began to scatter, Stacy watched as the king didn't absorb. Seeing King Neptunemon looking so sad made her realize that though they were enemies, he still dearly loved his brother and by not absorbing him he was giving his sibling another chance at life.
Stacy groaned as she pushed herself to her feet. Not only was she tired but likely covered in cuts and bruises as well but she wasn't suffering the emotional damage that a certain noble king was facing. After reuniting with Chris at the glacier and being thanked by King Neptunemon, Stacy hugged her brother before saying goodbye and disappearing into her Digiport summoned by her D-Tector. She knew Chris would find his way home just fine so now all she had to do was recover from the effects of those rough five days she went through.
