Hans carefully walked along the murky river remembering the first time he'd been here with his friends. They'd expected him to be shocked at their trickery and more than likely disappointed at what they told him was a 'beautiful ancient river'. Needless to say his mother had taken him to see it before and he wasn't the least bit disturbed. It did, however, sadden him to see what must have been a lovely sight now degraded into...well whatever one might use to describe this pathetic scene. The boy sighed as his phone vibrated, didn't he and his mother agree that it was only for emergencies? Apparently not, he thought and pulled his phone out of his pocket only to find that it wasn't his phone at all. His first reaction was to stare at the device dumbly not knowing what to do with it, the second was to almost drop it when he saw what was floating in the stream. "You've got to be kidding me! Is that an egg?" muttering to himself he set down his bag along with the thing that used to be his phone and made a beeline for the oval shape, pulling it out of the water. Of course it was disgusting but Hans' attention was focused on the yellow egg. It was larger than any he'd seen and had strange red markings on it. Even though it had a layer of grimy water covering it and rapidly dripping on the ground it was rather pretty."Strange. Very strange." He pulled a pack of Kleenex from his other pocket and between cleaning off the egg and his hands he'd used all of them. What he wouldn't give for hand-sanitizer right now. Sitting down beside his bag he scrutinized his two new found treasures. The device fit into his palm comfortably with black grips for that exact reason. The rest of it was chrome like the laptop he so treasured except for the screen which glowed blue when he brought it near the egg. Speaking of that egg, it was now shaking, alarming Hans. Cracks appeared on the formerly smooth shell until it shattered. He shook his head in order to prevent himself from gaping like a moron at the creature that had emerged. It was vaguely oval shaped, made of what seemed to be a yellow slime-like substance. It's red eyes stared up at him expectantly. "Am I dreaming?"
Of course. Out of all the humans to be partnered with, fate just had to land her in the hands of someone who probably couldn't tell left from right judging by the expression on his face. Zurumon scowled. Everymon always said that getting a partner was the best thing that could happen them, but if this was it she'd rather be a Digi-Tama again. "Obviously not. Would you be in front of a stinky river if you were?" Tamer or not, Zurumon's respect was still something to be earned. Being reborn again didn't exactly improve her attitude, especially since she'd lived perfectly fine as a solo digimon before this mess.
Hans blinked at the hatchling's obviously feminine voice before processing the snark that came with it. He laughed lightly before answering with, "No, I guess not. What- I mean, who are you?" And how can you speak Japanese? But he bit his tongue and kept that question to himself, after all he'd nearly insulted her already. The creature didn't bother answering and started moving away instead. She left a small trail of yellow slime behind her as she did so. Grabbing his bag and the mutated phone he followed her.He was surprised at how quick she was as he had to jog in order to catch up. "Hey wait! Where are you going?"
"Away from you. I thought that was clear enough." Zurumon stopped and shot him a nasty look accompanied by a taunting smile on her face. The human really had no clue...this might just be fun after all. The boy returned her glare in spades which made her warm to him somewhat- not that she'd admit it. "And as for my name...that's none of your business."
"Fine then. I'll just make one up for you. How about Leanan?" He, on the other hand, had no intention of of letting this strange animal wander off. Since the only reaction he got was a loud huff he figured that counted as a yes. "Do you even know where you are?" The answering frown made him smile to himself, triumphantly. "I didn't think so. Since you look like you're stuck here you could stay with me. I can show you around and get you back to where ever it is you came from. Deal?"
The digimon considered it for a moment. He had outsmarted her and she did have to admit that she didn't know how to get back to the Digital World. After all, passing through the portal as a Digi-Tama and finding it again are two very different things. It's not like any portal just hangs around in plain sight, well at least not from what she's been told in her past life. Zurumon had never actually been to the Human Realm before. "Fine. Get me back home and I'll even let you call me that ridiculous name...what are you smiling about? Weren't you going to show me around?"
"Great, I'm Kariya Hibiki. You can call me Hibiki though. Just one thing before we leave. You're not exactly a normal...pet so I think it would be best if you hide in my bag, for now at least." He set the bag on the ground and unzipped the main compartment, suddenly realizing that this might not be the best idea. He pulled out his laptop; it was the only thing in that compartment and definitely not something that he wanted to have covered in slime. Still, how was he going to clean his bag afterwards? Leanan gave the bag a wary look before entering it, at least she didn't protest. "I'm going to have to close it, sorry." He did so, carefully before slinging it over his back and heading away from the river. Hans tucked his second finding in his pocket; unaware of the portal that he would have discovered had he strayed just a few meters from the route he took.
