An EXPLOSIVE encounter. (Hinoka)

The Ogremon was getting really really angry now! It’s last attack was blocked by ShadowGrademon’s swords and his hand.
Growing in anger, the Ogremon charged in. With little thought to strategy or any semblance of a battle plan. The strange combo weapon held high, ready to be swung at ShadowGrademon.
As soon as it was in range, it began to throw wild and unfocused strikes. Roaring and screaming as it did so. “YoU gO aWaY! I mUsT bEaT yOu!!!”
“FaLl! FaAaAaAaAlL!!!”
The Ogremon was furious and angered. It had decided to release its final attack.
“DiEeEeEeEeE!” It roared as it began to strum on the guitar-axe thing. Great waves of sound shot from it and across the entire field. Like a mini-earthquake of horrible roaring sound.
Hinoka, meanwhile, continued to watch from the sidelines. Her head slightly tilted as she watched the action unfold. Until the sound attack began and knocked her back to reality. She pressed her hands over her ears. Hating every second of the roaring ruckus.
The young Arch Wizard decided enough was enough.
“Okay, I’m gonna jump in now!” Hinoka shouted across the battlefield, hoping she could be heard over the din of the Ogremon’s attack.
“Hey, knight-guy. You might wanna back it up. Unless you want your armor singed! It should leave him nice and open though. So take that shot, okay!”
Hinoka swung her staff around and then held it up. The red gem glittered in the sunlight. A devilish smirk crossed over Hinoka’s face once more. This was, of course, her favorite part!
“Oh, blackness shrouded in light! Frenzied souls clad in flames! Cast all back to the shadows! Then, fade from this world! E X P L O S I O N!” Once more, the magical circle appeared under Hinoka’s feet. A spiral of magical power erupted around her as she raised the staff high. And then…
An earth-shattering boom ripped across the landscape once again. Throwing stone, dirt and clumps of earth up into the air and vaporizing back into nothingness. A sound like an atomic bomb ripped across the once calm fields and then all went silent.
Hinoka fell backwards, now completely out of energy after using explosion twice. Her digimon form faded away and she returned to her human form. Her digivice fell from her hand and rolled down into the second crater she had created.

Hana winced and covered her ears from the sheer volume of the Ogremon's strumming. Even though she'd moved quite a ways from the fight, it was still loud enough to hurt her ears. ShadowGrademon, on the other hand, was not quite so fortunate. The dark knight had to endure the full force of the assault, his armor starting to crack a bit under the musical assault.
Agh, how can his guitar be so loud?! ShadowGrademon thought.
He could faintly hear Hinoka shouting something at him over all the noise, but the knight couldn't make out what she was saying. He turned to look at her and saw her begin chanting something. The red magic circle was a major red flag that ShadowGrademon needed to move. NOW!
The knight immediately took off, running as fast as he could to try and escape the oncoming attack. He wasn't fast enough to completely escape the blast, so when he saw the edge of the explosion heading towards him, he planted his swords in the ground, knelt down, and wrapped his cloak around him to try to withstand the blast.
When the heat of the shockwave subsided ShadowGrademon was mildly burned and his cloak was destroyed, but he was still able to get to his feet. Battered, but not beaten. The knight was definitely impressed by the raw power of Hinoka's attack. If he was burned like that from the edge of the explosion, then He could only wonder if the Ogremon even managed to survive being at ground zero.
"Holy crap."

“Well… that was fun...” Hinoka muttered to herself.
Content to look up at the clear blue sky. A sense of peace crossing over her after all of the destruction.
All had fallen quiet in the wake of the explosion. Silence and peace. As It had been. Prior to Hinoka’s first explosion of the day. Which, of course had been the cause of all of this… mayhem.
The dust had settled and the earth had stopped quaking. The crater, in equal size to the last one, was a slight blot on the landscape of Network Plains. The vapid cloud of smoke too had cleared.
In the middle of the crater, the blackened body of the Ogremon stood. Still upright, but eyes blank. The once bright green skin charred and burned in places, coated in a thick layer of soot. Patches of the hair had been reduced to cinders.
It still clutched its weapon. Although it was burned. Some of the metal contorted and twisted beyond recognition. The Ogremon roared with great anger. Still not dead. But still furious.
In her collapsed state. Hinoka has no idea that her attack had also, almost, taken out, ShadowGrademon. Fortunately, it had been far enough away from the blast zone to be able to survive the impact.
Hinoka smiled to herself. Her face also blackened by soot. There really wasn’t anything quite as awesome as an explosion by her hand.
"So... we all good?" Hinoka asked. Exhaustion falling upon her like a soft blanket in a warm bed.
The Ogremon let out a ferocious roar and leaped forward towards Hinoka. It raised its club once again, even burned and a little broken it was still a powerful weapon. It bellowed once again.
“DiEeEeEeEeE!!!!”

Oh, it seems that the Ogremon was still alive. More injured than ShadowGrademon was, but still angry enough to keep fighting. Yay.
Man, this guy doesn't know when to quit. The dark knight thought to himself. Well, let's fix that, shall we?
"Oh, no you don't!" The dark knight said to the raging ogre. He dashed towards the Ogremon as fast as his legs would allow. As he got close to the wounded giant, the knight leapt into the air in order to deliver his strongest attack. "You'll have to get through me first! Take this! GRADE SLASH!"
As he came down from his leap, the knight angled both of his swords to deliver a devastating downward slash to the Ogremon.
Meanwhile, Hana ran over to the fallen Hinoka. She was a bit surprised to see that Hinoka was actually human, but now wasn't the time to worry about that.
"Let's get you out of here. Up you go." Hana told the self-proclaimed Arch Wizard as she lifted Hinoka onto her back. She struggled a bit to carry the weight of the taller girl, but moved to get away from the ongoing battle as quickly as she could.

For a second there, the young Arch Wizard thought her life was going to be over. Until she had been saved by ShadowGrademon. It was a dangerous thing to go comatose after using the Explosion magic.
As she lay at the edge of the crater, thinking to herself. Someone drew in. Hinoka was lifted softly onto someone's back. She was unsure who it was, her eyes were mostly closed and heavy.
Although, exhausted, she couldn’t help herself but talk. Hinoka’s voice was softer and calmer than usual. Which was probably a result of her exhaustion. Even when being carried by the smaller girl, the young Arch Wizard couldn’t help but smile in a cheesy manner.
“I’ve never unleashed Explosion twice in one day, before. Worth it… t o t a l l y worth it!”
Meanwhile, back at the action. The battle between ShadowGrademon and the unrelenting Ogremon continued. The ogre threw wild attacks empowered by its anger, with little thought behind them. It was just chaotic blunt force with no real rhyme or reason behind them.
ShadowGrademon took his chance and unleashed his strongest attack. From the air, the blades fell in a devastating downward slash. For a second it appeared that the Ogremon was going to walk it off, as it had walked off everything else. But, there had to be a limit to the monster’s vitality.
It let out a vicious roar but not of anger, more out of pain. Its weapon fell to the ground at the clawed feet. Then, it too, fell to its knees. Unable to continue.
It was over.

ShadowGrademon slowly walked over to the defeated Ogremon, using one of his swords to support his weight as he walked. Even when he saw how bad of a shape the ogre was in, the dark knight felt no regret for what he planned to do next. The monster’s fate was sealed the moment he tried to hurt Hana.
“Begone, monster. I won’t let you hurt anyone else.” The knight solemnly raised one of his swords and brought it down on the fallen giant’s neck. A few moments later, a digitama could be seen flying off to the Village of Beginnings to be reborn. As he watched the egg fly off, the dark knight solemnly stated, "May your next life be a more virtuous one, Ogremon."
ShadowGrademon turned away, taking a moment to look at the twisted remains of the Ogremon's axe. As he limped towards Hinoka and Hana, he called out to them. "Hana, Hinoka. Are you both okay?"
"Yeah, we're fine. What happened to the Ogremon?" Hana replied. She carried Hinoka over to the knight, who sheathed his swords and took the comatose girl into his arms.
"Don't worry about him. He won't be causing us any more trouble." ShadowGrademon cryptically stated. He was a bit surprised that the Flamemon was now a human girl.
Could she be a Spirit User? The knight thought to himself as the group walked back over to where Hana had stashed the remains of their picnic lunch. It seems they'd be having an interesting conversation with Hinoka once the girl regained her energy.

Very slowly, Hinoka opened her eyes. The world seemed to be spinning around her and her head was aching as if someone had hit her with a large mallet. Everything that had happened before this felt blurred and hard to piece together.
“Don’t take me out couch...” Hinoka muttered, hazily. She was still unable to move or sit up. She lay flat out on the cool grass. The consequence of two explosions in one day were definitely taking their toll on the young Arch Wizard. "I wanna hit a home run..."
After a few minutes, she spoke again. Now with more conviction and sense behind it.
“Remind me not to do that again… except… it was really really cool. So maybe, ignore that.”
Her eyes fell onto the group that stood around her limp body. The young girl, Hana, who appeared unscathed from the days events. The still formed knight who still bore injuries from her explosion. “Oh hey. I’d do a really cool introduction about who I am… but I’m a little exhausted.”
She paused for a second and a slight smirk crossed her blank, smoke-blackened face.
“Oh, why not..."
The young wizard breathed in and then words began to spill from her mouth in rapid succession.
I am Hinoka Homura! The greatest Arch Wizard to ever set foot in the Digital World. Master of the greatest type of magic, Explosion! Show me your resolve and stare into the abyss. But beware, when someone stares into the abyss. The abyss stares back!"

"You do remember that you already introduced yourself earlier, Miss Arch Wizard." ShadowGrademon said. Her speech tickled something in the back of the tired knight's mind, and he struggled to remember what it was. Humans had a word for people who acted the way Hinoka did. What was it? Chuuni? Yeah, that was it. "I do have to admit that your Explosion was pretty powerful for your level, though. You're a Spirit User, aren't you?"
"Spirit User? What's that?" Hana asked in confusion. She'd never heard the term before.
"A Spirit User is a human who uses a totem containing a Digimon's power to transform into a Digimon." The knight explained.
"Whoa. That sounds awesome." Hana replied, eyes wide with excitement.
ShadowGrademon was about to respond, but fell to his knees. His energy fully drained from the day's events, the dark knight separated back into the two brothers that formed him. Data and Rush were sprawled out on the ground, utterly exhausted from maintaining their fused form.
"Ow." Data said with a wince. His head was still pounding from getting smacked by the Ogremon's axe.

“Wait, I did?” Hinoka said, losing her composure for a second. “Well, I… I thought that you’d need a quick reminder of how truly awe-inspiring I am.” If she had the use of her arms, she’d strike an impressive pose but that was still out of the question for the time being.
“Explosion! That is my greatest magic of all. The strongest of all! Causes the gods themselves to kneel at my feet. I shake the entire Digital World with a...” She paused for a second as a wave of tiredness crossed over her.
Suppressing a yawn, Hinoka cut herself short. "You know what… rain check on the hero speech,” Hinoka said, laying her head back down. “What you say is true, though. I use a totem of an Ancient Digimon and it lends me its abilities to increase my own already formidable abilities.”
Midway through her speech, ShadowGrademon fell to his knees at her side. It was clear that their battle with the Ogremon had taken a lot out of it. “What’s up, Knight? You outta energy! Maybe if you ask nicely... I’d lend you some,” Hinoka smirked. The irony of the words flying way over her head.
After a second, the one Digimon split back into the two that made it and fell to the ground with a thud.
Still unable to move and now annoyed with herself for having to ask. Hinoka said, with irritated tone cutting through her voice. “So, uh… can I ask for a favor? Can someone help me back to my apartment in Terminus? Or, you can leave me out here… your choice. I’m sure I’ll get some feeling in my legs… eventually.”

"Yeah, we can help carry you back. No worries." Hana offered. "Do you want to head back now, or do you want some food first before we head over there? We do still have some extra sandwiches left over from lunch that I'd be more than happy to share with you if you want one. I made sure to pack extra, just in case."
"I personally think finishing up our lunch would be a good idea." Data suggested as he managed to get himself back in the air.
"Rush is hungry. Food is good." Rush seconded, perking up the moment he heard mention of food. The Keramon wandered over to the basket of sandwiches and immediately started eating one. He was still a bit tired from the fight, so he didn't eat as quickly as he usually would.
"Well, okay. I guess we're eating then." Hana conceded, going to the basket and grabbing out a couple of sandwiches for herself and Hinoka before heading over to the exhausted girl.

Hinoka paused for a second, considering this thought. After a few seconds of silence, she replied, once again stifling a yawn before she began.
“Well, I’d rather head back now. I have to file a report for todays events… yeah,” the young Arch Mage said, making up something grandiose and impressive for her to do back in town. When the real answer was that she was planning to lie down on her bed until the feeling in her legs came back.
“So, if it’d be okay with you. I’d rather be taken back immed–” Hinoka paused as her stomach let out a loud rumble, somewhere between dragon roar and the explosion that she had just caused.
A red blush flooded the Arch Wizard’s face. “Uh, well. As you’ve so kindly offered to… allow me to join you… in your picnic. I mean… I’d be rude to disagree. R-right?” False laughing followed this pronouncement.
An expression much like she had never eaten in her entire life fell across Hinoka’s face. Without thinking of how she looked Hinoka shoved the entire thing in her mouth. Swallowing it in a two very large bites. “Mmm! So good! It’s really really good! You guys make great grub, ya’ know!”
The words were rather muffled due to the amount of food in her mouth. But the point came across well enough or so she thought.

"Well, I'm glad you like it. It's only fair that we pay you back for helping us deal with that Ogremon jerk." Hana said, mildly blushing herself from the other girl's praise. "Some people can just be so rude when you try to be friendly."
"Well, he'll think twice about doing that again, after the beatdown we gave him. I don't blame you for the fact that we got caught in your explosion, by the way." Data agreed, amused by the antics of the two teens. He purposefully neglected to mention the fact that the Ogremon could very well be a completely different person after being reborn. "It's entirely our fault that we didn't get out of the way soon enough, since we could barely hear your warning over the Ogremon's horrible guitar playing."
Rush nodded his head in agreement as he finished off his sandwich. The Keramon didn't hold any ill will towards the fiery Spirit User either.
"Well, one good thing that came out of this crazy day is that we got to make a new friend." Hana cheerfully stated after she finished her sandwich.

At last, some feeling was beginning to return to the young Arch Wizard. At least, enough to sit up. Although, a dull ache was beginning to creep up her body and her head felt like someone had slammed her in the head with a hammer.
“Oh you’re welcome. It wasn’t a big deal,” she muttered, holding her forehead.
“I mean, it’s not a big deal for such a brilliant Arch Wizard such as myself.” Her usual egotistic behavior beginning to return.
A odd smirk cut across her face as she reminded herself of her final explosions. “Pretty good, though? Right? And you and that green moron managed to survive it. Hmm… well. I guess that means, I just gotta juice up the power a bit, huh...”
Hinoka wasn’t even listening to Data nor any of his companions. She was instead thinking how her explosion had failed to be powerful enough to wipe out that Digimon on its own.
She was mumbling to herself, hand pressed against her chin. “I wonder if constant use would increase the power eventually or if I need to find a way to evolve… much like they did. But does, that means I need to find a partner of my own to fuse with? Or is there another way. This world is so wacky, anything is possible.”
In fact, the only part of the conversation that Hinoka caught was the last few words that Hana spoke. “Oh, uh, yeah. Friends, right.”
“I mean! You can become friends with me.” She pressed a hand against her face in attempt to look impressive.
“I am the greatest Arch Wizard that the Digital World has ever seen! To be friends with one like me would be considered an honor and a privilege. So I hope you CAN accept that great accolade with pride.”
Hinoka dug into a pocket of her robe and pulled a small card from the very depths. “And I have such a reward for you. Here! For you!”
She raised it up into the air and then placed it very melodramatically in Hana’s hand. Upon the scrap of card was written in scrawly, inked writing, details to find Hinoka’s Tamer Net account so they could keep in contact.

"Oh, thank you!" Hana said, accepting the contact info. Taking a piece of paper out of her journal, she wrote down her own Tamer Net info and handed it to Hinoka. "There's my Tamer Net account for you. "
"If you're wondering about why your explosion wasn't enough to stop Ogremon, it was probably because Ogremon was a Champion level, and your Flamemon form is only equivalent to a Rookie level. Your explosions were very powerful for a Rookie, but you'll need to find your other Spirit Totems to Spirit Evolve to stronger forms." Data explained to the self-proclaimed Arch Wizard.
"You seem... surprisingly well-informed about Spirit Users, Data." Hana said, as she stared at the Hagurumon.
"I met a Spirit User in my previous life, and they explained how the Spirit Evolution process worked. It's too bad I can't remember much about the Spirit User themselves, though. They seemed like a good person." Data casually explained. "The downside of being reborn is that you usually lose at least a few memories every time."
