It had been an odd month and it had just begun. Just the other day she had gotten drunk do to some crazy anomaly caused by a Raremon but with some small amount of help from an Andromon she had solved the anomaly problem with her speed. She had long recovered from the hangover the anomaly also created since it gave her full effects of alcohol so after pulling into a town and parking she was glad for some normalcy.
Seems like the first week of this month was not going to be kind though as she walked around town seeing a crowd loosely gathered around some small arena and what looked like a Stingmon only jet black with blood red claws and matching eyes had just wrapped up a game with a Terriermon. Making her way closer she was glad that the crowd wasn't tightly packed since she didn't do so well in crowds and she knew it was her anxiety and not her being an introvert.
Now that she was closer the arena had taken on a familiar appearance she knew too well from an anime she used to watch called Yu-Gi-Oh and, sure enough, the two digimon had been playing that very trading card game but the cards being digital had vanished as the game ended. "If that is the best you have you should not have wasted my time." the black Stingmon said before he continued "Now give me the money you owe me since I won or do I have to take it from your family myself."
The Terriermon shook with tears streaming down her cheeks before she said "Please sir I can't give you that much. My baby brother and I need it to eat and we never agreed to that much. Why are you forcing me to pay more?"
The black insect chuckled before he, with no sense of empathy, said "I did it because I run this town and can do as I please." He then held out his hand the blood red claws seeming to extend before he coldly said "Now give me the money or I'll delete you and take the money afterwards."
That's it. Stacy who had been quietly watching could take no more and began walking forward before she said "Leave the little one alone. You already won."
Looking in Stacy's direction the Stingmon coldly replied "Stay out of matters that don't concern you human. I won fair and square. I am merely trying to claim the money owed me."
"By the way you are bullying a small digimon by trying to take more money than agreed then threatening to delete her if you don't get your way, it has become my problem." Stacy said as she walked forward and Terriermon made herself scarce. "You should know I have a low tolerance for digimon like yourself."
Upon noticing the D-Tector mounted on Stacy's right wrist, the black Stingmon said "Then how bout you put your money where your mouth is, Human. Play this human game with me and if you win I will not only leave the Terriermon alone, I will leave this town. Deal."
"Deal." Stacy said as she took position at the vacated spot on the battle arena.
Then a mysterious field appeared around the arena and Stingmon said "Oh and one more thing. While our game is taking place you won't be able to activate your spirit and digivolve nor will I be able to use any of my attacks. That and if you lose I get to kill you where you stand for interferring in my business. I hope you know this game or you have no chance against me."
"That's two things but since I'm not in the mood for splitting hairs I'll agree to your stipulations. I might surprise you if you get too cocky though." Stacy said causing Stingmon to glare at her in annoyance. Despite being threatened with death she had the nerve to sound confident. No one had beaten Stingmon before and somehow something about this woman irked him and the match hadn't even started yet.
Cards began appearing in front of both players and Stingmon said "The cards here are digital so feel free to pick from all known cards and no card is banned according to my rules. Hope that's okay with you, Human."
"All right, first things first, stop calling me Human. My name is Stacy and I would rather you call me by that if you address me at all since I assume you know basic manners. As for your rules, I can handle it just fine." Stacy said sounding annoyed at constantly being addressed as Human but otherwise didn't show any other indication of her feelings.
As the cards were picked Stacy looked in deep thought and since she didn't recognize the most recent cards she figured she would stick to cards she knew. Now the trick was what cards she would use. The first card she picked was her favorite card which was Neo the Magic Swordsman. Sure it was a monster that wasn't too fancy or special but it was one of her first cards she owned and that was why it was special to her.
After a few moments all cards on both sides were picked out and after a coin flip Stacy got the first turn. Stacy placed a monster face down in defense mode and a card facedown in the magic and trap zone before she said "End turn."
Multiple turns later....
Things were not looking so good for Stacy. Sure she had managed to stay in the game but she was trapped on the defensive staring at two Blue Eyes White Dragons. Early in the game she had made short work of the same card meaning he had the maximum three of these all together. At least one of the dragons were in the graveyard so unless it was brought back somehow it was one less thing to worry about. These two dragons were blowing through her defenses and now she had a card face down in defense mode but she knew the monster was far too weak to deal with one dragon never mind two. Sure she had two face down cards compared to her opponents zero but she wished she could wipe the smug look off Stingmon's face though she had long since been ignoring the arrogant taunts.
It was her turn and she needed the right card or she knew it would be over. Reaching over she picked up a card and when she looked at it her eyes lit up. Since the opponent had nothing in the spell and trap zone in his arrogance she could possibly not only turn the game around but win it as well. Her opponent had four thousand life points compared to her feeble one thousand but this strategy wouldn't cost her any life points. "I think it's about time I turn this duel around. I activate one of the cards in my spell and trap zone which is Change of Heart! As I'm sure you know that means I can take control of one of your Blue Eyes White Dragons for the turn." Stacy said with a smile.
"So if you attack all that would happen is both dragons would die and since you have a monster in defense mode I assume it's weak so it should be easy enough to get rid of next turn." Stingmon said chuckling while crossing his arms.
"If only you would have a next turn. Your arrogance is about to become your undoing, Stingmon. Now I activate a card from my hand which is Polymerization. Now I can fuse the Blue Eyes I burrowed from you with my Goddess with the Third Eye and my Beast King of the Swamp. Those three cards allow me to bring forth a monster known as the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. I'm far from done though, Stingmon, as I now will sacrifice my dragon to special summon a Blue Eyes Shining Dragon." Stacy said as she took a look at Stingmon before flipping her facedown monster face up revealing it to be Neo the Magic Swordsman. Sure it only had one thousand seven hundred attack points and before Stingmon could say anything Stacy interrupted him "But I'm far from done yet. I now activate my other facedown card Monster Reborn and I use it to bring back my Blue Eyes Ultimate from the graveyard." Stingmon's eyes bugged out realizing the end was near as Stacy continued "Now to wrap this up. I'll attack your remaining Blue Eyes with my Blue Eyes Ultimate. Then I'll finish up with some slight overkill by attacking first with my Neo the Magic Swordsman before attacking with my Blue Eyes Shining Dragon."
As the arena deactivated Stingmon was giving her a death glare and as he lunged at her she quickly digivolved into Blitzwolfmon before punching the bug in the face sending Stingmon flying backward. "Now. Now. Stingmon, don't be a sore loser. It's not my fault that the cards were with me at the end." As Stingmon was getting up Blitzwolfmon hopped down off the arena, called forth her motorcycle, and climbed on before zipping away. Sure Stingmon would likely be mad but she didn't frankly care about having a fight with an arrogant sore loser.
