The Calling Card (Grandmaster)
|

As Grandmaster had expected, neither Stacy, Zack or Marigold were too thrilled by the way he saw the whole Digimon situation. Stacy doubted that the reason he was even doing all of this was to protect the Digital World, and Zack just called him a super bigot. Grandmaster was not upset, merely disappointed. "I do not think you understand where I am coming from. Digimon are nothing more than a disaster waiting to happen. Weapons of mass destruction contained within artificial intelligence with mass. I've seen the horrors of Digimon up close and personal. You'd have to be an idiot to side with Digimon after what I've seen."
"Oh what, did one single Digimon murder your family?" Speed asked. "If it was a human that did that, would you hate all humans then, too?"
"They didn't just murder my family. They took over the entire world."
There was a moment of silence. Clearly the world had not been taking over by Digimon, at least not publically, so none of this was even making sense. Was Grandmaster okay? What are you even talking about?
After that, a brainwashed Weston had entered the scene and already took out both Speed and Psych. Akane would look distressed by this, pulling down Grandmaster a bit to her level as she whispered, "You promised me that they wouldn't get hurt! That was our deal, remember?"
"Apologies, Akane; they just had to know we were not playing around with them," Grandmaster whispered back to her. In response to Grandmaster calling him his partner, Stacy retorted by perfectly describing how the chemical worked. "Not too complicated to figure out, at least. Though it is not a chemical... it's a virus. A perfect fusion between a human world virus and a computer virus, one that effectively gives humans control over a Digimon. That's what's developed here and at the other facilities I own. I dub it the Human Digimon Link virus, or HDL for short."
Then something odd happened... Stacy began to start glowing a bright and intense aura. Grandmaster would attempt to tell Weston to go after her first, but a sudden shoulder check from Marigold would send Weston rag-dolling a few feet back, getting up as easily as if he had just lost his footing. Then the Stingmon would wrap her claws around the Wisemon and squeeze as much as she could, but since she was trying to hold back, Weston simply felt... nothing. It was as if he didn't feel pain at all. Not only that, but this still allowed Weston to cast some form of spell, and a giant vine would shoot out of the ground and wrap itself around both Weston and Marigold, quickly lifting them up and slamming them both into the immediate ground below.
Meanwhile, Zack had the right idea by attempting to distract Grandmaster so that he couldn't control Weston as easily. The only downside was that Akane was there to protect him. She would step in and effectively grab Zack's foot mid-spin and slam him into the ground. For what appeared to be a simple office worker, she sure knew how to fight! "If you want to get to him you'll have to get through me, kid." HDL-Weston takes the "Hell Squeeze" but is seemingly not affected by it. He counters back with "Floralorial," attacking both himself and Marigold at the same time.
Moves Floralorial: Weston casts a spell to cause a massive vine to rapidly grow from beneath the opponent. The vine will then either grab onto the target and YEET them straight to the ground or to a wall, or it will simply just bitch slap them into next year. Both do the same amount of damage. Cooldown is two posts.
Active Effects Hell Squeeze!: Movement is slowed down for two posts. (0/2)

Blitzwolfmon's tail frizzled going stiff at the Grandmaster's words before she growled one side of her lip curled up revealing a canine tooth slightly sharper and longer than a human's before calming herself. Then she said "I understand digimon more than you do apparently. Despite their powers digimon are not just weapons of mass destruction. They are people like us that feel pain and loss and have hopes and dreams. Hell most digimon I've met aren't even remotely violent. Yet with people like you around I can see why some digimon hate humans."
When the Grandmaster mentioned digimon had taken over the world she, like Psych, before she in a eerie calm said "You are a damned lunatic. Unless you are talking about how the Digital World chooses the humans destined to be partnered with digimon in some way only a minority of those destined ones are even evil in the destructive sense."
The woman called Akane approached the Grandmaster and this caught Blitzwolfmon's attention causing her to make use of her sharp wolf hearing over hearing what the woman whispered. Not only that she seemed distressed when Speed and Psych were attacked by Weston. What was her connection to the twins? Hoping her link with Psych was still intact she sent her thoughts to the purple dragon digimon. 'Psych, I just noticed and overheard something strange. That woman was whispering to the Grandmaster. She said "You promised me that they wouldn't get hurt! That was our deal, remember?" Do you or Speed know this woman?'
As for the Grandmaster the mention of the HDL virus caused Blitzwolfmon to growl more as the aura of holy power around her intensified. Then in a voice that was clearly different she said "Seems in you're arrogance you were foolish to underestimate my host's intelligence but since both the Human and Digital Worlds need her I will not let harm come to her." Stacy had once again became possessed by the spirit of the digimon who possessed her a year ago and it was unknown at this point if she knew what was going on.
Before the ancient digimon was attacked by Weston Marigold shoulder tackled the mind controlled magician. Weston seemed to be unaffected by Marigold's efforts and had countered with an attack of his own but not only did he attack Marigold but himself as well. Interesting. Could the Grandmaster have less control than he thought?
Meanwhile Zack's efforts were met with resistance in the form that the ancient spirit didn't expect. Not only had she caught Zack mid move but slammed him into the ground as well. Either she was a human that worked out or she was something more. Something told her that Zack needed a hand so she dashed over toward Zack and Akane. Though not as fast as Speed she didn't have to be since even her top speed of roughly sixty miles per hour allowed her to clear the room with ease since Weston had his hands full. Coming to a stop behind Akane Blitzwolfmon tapped the woman's shoulder gently with the tips of her five inch golden claws before she said "Excuse me but unless you later want to incur his daughter's wrath you might want to scurry back of to where you came from." In life the spirit would never of done this choosing a more direct approach but she had learned much from the human she shared a body with.

Zack grunted, his helmet making an ugly sounding THUD as the back of his head hit the floor. Exactly the kind of hard tumble that justified the use of the helmet in the first place. he looked up at her, emotion shimmering through his visor as he spoke only a few words, his nobility and heroic spirit piercing right through whatever this woman's "reason" was that let her allow any of this to happen while pretending she still had something resembling human empathy.
"You're on the wrong side and whatever lie you're telling yourself so you can sleep at night..." he took advantage of Stacy's distraction while Speed, Psych and Marigold kept Weston occupied to backflip out of Akane's hold, landing hunched down on one knee before pushing himself to stand. "They wont change the way you sold your soul." he said, unflinching, uncaring for whatever self pitying reason she might have. She was doing harm to beings that had done no harm to her. Whatever justification she had was well past the point of making Zack care. The only thing he cared about in that moment was putting a stop to it. While she was hopefully still turned to look at Stacy Zack shot out with his foot again, digging the merciless hard light heel of his boot into the softest, most vulnerable stretch of her stomach, angled upward to bash as much air out of her lungs as he could manage. "Because both of you are going to learn, you can't do the wrong thing for the right reason. Only the wrong thing for the wrong reason." He said, spinning on his heel to snap out a sucker punch at the exposed throat of the Grandmaster. Zack was PISSED now that his baby girl was in danger, on top of the bigotry, the mindless hate, the violence. he was in full heroic "solve the problem" mode. And that meant these two had to be on the ground clutching bruises.
Marigold couldn't think of anything else to do, her head was swimming after being slammed down face first into solid concrete. Her smaller attacks would do little to nothing to the Ultimate level digimon and any of her stronger ones had a large chance to totally backfire or backdraft onto her allies.
"When in doubt...body check.." She snarled, repeating something her father had said to her about getting into fights above your weight class. She huffed as she slashed her way out of the vine and zipped up above Weston, using her heavy, hard armored hands to slam him down over and over and over again with punishing full palm strikes. it wasn't a real attack, just a use of force that would hopefully keep him down against the floor for as long as possible. Her father was right, they were both just muscle, not the trained operatives that they had brought along. But that meant that they both had a responsibility to give their all to stop these people, even if it meant Weston would wake up with a headache.
Neither of them would give up and inch, because what the Grandmaster proposed was their greatest fear. Separating them, tearing them from one another's arms and leaving them both as alone as they had been before meeting. They would never allow that. They would fight. They would bleed. They would die a thousand deaths before they ever let that eventuality come to pass. And they had enough willpower to burn, something the villains may not count on.

"DON'T LIE TO ME!" Grandmaster suddenly snapped at Stacy when she told him how Digimon felt pain and loss as well as humans did. "If that were true then MY WORLD would still exist, they didn't care about us when they captured us, slaughtered us, enslaved us... they're all going to turn on you in the future, you know... it's inevitable."
What was he going on about, anyway? His world being taken over by Digimon? His world? Well, Grandmaster had an answer for that. "Oh I'm no lunatic; I'm a herald. Have any of you ever heard of the multiverse theory? Well, it is true. It is OH SO TRUE! I come from an Earth similar to this one, one that had people partnered with Digimon like my own son, people that could turn into Digimon, and it was all secret from the general public. At least, until one day all the Digimon in my universe snapped. We didn't have any level limiter fields like this dimension, or any DATS or AEGIS or any of that crap here. When the Digimon turned on us, it was up to our governments to protect us, and those most involved with the Digital World were the first to go. I had to watch as my own family was ripped to shreds by my son's own so-called Digimon partner... I know something like that is going to happen here, to your planet. I will save this world before you Digimon ever even get the idea to turn on us all!"
While he was still trying to get up, Psych could hear Stacy speaking via telepathy. She asked if he or Speed knew the woman that Grandmaster was with, saying that she was concerned about the twins' safety. No, I have never seen that woman before in my life... why would she give a damn about me and my brother?
After Akane had stopped Zack's attack, the masked human angrily accused Akane of selling her soul for whatever reason she was doing this. "You don't know anything about me," Akane growled. "I'm sure you can understand my reasons, given how you consider the Stingmon to be your daughter." Then Stacy suddenly seemed to become... possessed, by her own spirit? Akane was momentarily distracted by the spirit user's threat, and that gave Zack an opportunity to give her a good kick in the stomach and knock the wind out of her.
But what he would immediately notice after doing so is Akane's body suddenly glitch out before she collapsed on the ground, holding her abdomen. Afterwards, Zack would attempt to deal a solid punch towards the Grandmaster, but he would suddenly be stopped by Grandmaster pulling out his pocket sword and pointing it at Zack. "Ah ah ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you..." Were Zack to fight him anyway, it would be apparent that Grandmaster was a great multitasker, able to fight Zack and control Weston at the same time.
Meanwhile, both Weston and Marigold were slammed down into the ground by Weston's spell. After the vine retreated, the Wisemon still got up with no problem, with Marigold still recovering from being hit like that. The Stingmon leaped into the air and started repeatedly slamming down on Weston with full palm strikes, almost as if trying to snap Weston out of this state of mind.
Speed and Psych could only watch in horror as Marigold continued to do this. "MARIGOLD, PLEASE STOP THIS!"
Speed is right, Marigold! I cannot detect Weston's thoughts, and although he's a higher level he is not physically capable of taking too many direct hits like that, you are going to kill him!
"Your friend is right... the virus has taken over fully and completely," Grandmaster coolly said. "The virus is a part of his Digicore now... you cannot cure him."
Part of his Digicore? Psych thought to himself, not broadcasting this specific thought to anyone. This gave the Psychdramon an idea. It was... a suicidal idea, as it required a sacrifice, but it was an idea nonetheless and Psych was more than willing to be the one to sacrifice himself. Psych stood up and floated closer towards the group. If you're going to have someone as your slave no matter what... it's going to be me!
"WHAT?!" Both Speed and Akane yelled at the same time.

So this guy was from another dimension. With the concept of the multiverse such a thing wasn't completely impossible but still what the Grandmaster was doing was wrong. "I am more than familiar with the concept of the multiverse and just because something went wrong in your dimension doesn't mean it will happen here. Did it ever occur to you in your crazed grief to figure out why the digimon went crazy. It could of been an anomaly or higly contagious virus that did that to otherwise non violent digimon. For someone who calls himself smart you are indeed in the running for the biggest idiot in the whole multiverse." Blitzwolfmon said with a shake of her head. "Think about what you're saying. Is this what your son would want? You have become worse than the monsters you claim to be trying to stop. Enslaving sentient beings whether they be human or digimon is wrong." When Psych telepathically said he didn't know the woman it got her thinking. There had to be something that no one was able to notice for some reason.
When Zack kicked Akane and her body began to glitch out the possessed Blitzwolfmon frowned before she said "So you aren't a human at all but a digimon. Why would you team with a monster that would likely enslave you if he gets so much as half a chance. He has no concept of honor like I or my host do. I hope you heed my warning."
Seeing the Grandmaster pull out a concealed pocket sword Blitzwolfmon zipped past Akane and grabbed the sword the Grandmaster had before she said "So rude of you to pull a weapon on an unharmed human. You aren't very good at making me think any better of you. You're a slimy honorless coward through and through."
Things were looking bad for Weston but he had to be handled somehow. Perhaps...of course. "Marigold, restrain him but try not to hurt him." Blitzwolfmon said tapping into her hosts memories to access the Stingmon's name.
Psych's next words caught Blitzwolfmon's attention making her understand why her host had respect for him but this sacrificial move sounded like quite the gamble. Maybe their was something the psychic digimon knew that she didn't quite yet.

Zack doesn't even flinch. his motion does not stop or pause or hitch for even a second. He does not slow down even as the Grandmaster pulls out that cane sword. Zack simply shows that he does not care what happens in that moment, whether the blade skates along the underside of his arm, loudly ripping the leather of his coat and drawing long, crimson ribbons of blood or even if he has to deliver the blow by pushing his momentum along the blade skewering through his flesh. The only thought in his mind was to wipe that grin off of his face, and the snarling that was coming from under his helmet made it clear that he was far past listening to whatever the bigot's idea of "reason" was.
Marigold pushed her weight down, the palms of both of her hands pressing against Weston's body, matching her father's snarling rage. She weighed more than the waifish wizard digimon, of that she was mostly sure and she was going to use it to his advantage.
Zack for his part didn't even pause when he heard Psych begin to speak. One of his feet came up to deliver a punishing kick to the front side of the grandmaster's thigh. If the hard light boot heel connected solidly enough it would be enough to snap the villain's leg in half along the bone. He had heard what Psych suggested but he wasn't even going to acknowledge the idea. he was going to fight this until he couldn't fight it for a second longer. He would offer no surrender, he would give no ground. Not even for a moment would he even entertain the idea of negotiating with a man like this.
He didn't care if Akane WAS a Digimon. he didn't care to listen to the Grandmaster's delusional reasonings. He was going to keep throwing shots until either the Grandmaster was on the floor or he was. he was not giving up on an ally, doesn't matter what the strategic sense of the decision. he was beyond that kind of logic. There was nothing he has to say, his only method of communicating his disdain for the entire enterprise was to lash out as much as he could, as often as he could manage.

"That is the difference between you and I, isn't it?" Grandmaster said to Stacy. "You're willing to do nothing and believe that somehow, everything will just magically be okay in the end. As for me, I cannot stand by and watch this world be taken over as well. The alternate me also has a wife and son, and I just cannot lose them again."
Stacy had a point though, wouldn't enslaving these sentient beings be wrong? "After what I saw them do to my people and my family, they're lucky that they'll still technically be alive." It was official, this guy did not give a crap about any digital forms of life. He did care about human life though, despite the whole sword thing. This was evident by the fact that Grandmaster was the one to pull his sword away when it was clear that Zack wasn't going to flinch and dodge it.
"You've got the spirit of a hero, kid," Grandmaster said, ignoring Stacy as he put his sword away. If this kid wanted to fight, it was going to be a one on one fist fight, no weapons involved. Zack aimed his heel kick right for Grandmaster's thigh, a kick that Grandmaster would elegantly dodge. He side-stepped behind Zack and delivered a kick to his back, Grandmaster's own hands held behind his back. "A kick like that would've broken my leg, young one. We can't let that happen now, can we?"
Meanwhile, while she was still on the ground Akane looked up at Stacy as the spirit within her asked why she would team up with someone like Grandmaster. The Digimon in disguise looked down in shame. "We... we made a deal. I walked in while he was discussing his plan and I was an idiot and ran away, revealing my identity. In exchange for my help, he would make sure no harm came to myself or... or my sons." She glanced at Speed and Psych, the two of them unaware of what she was saying at this very moment.
Mostly because they had bigger concerns on their minds at the moment. Psych had just stepped up and offered himself in place of Weston. What the purple drake was talking about didn't make any sense. "W-What are you saying, bro?"
The virus attached itself to his Digicore, right? My powers extend to the life source of a Digimon, the Digicore itself. I cannot remove it entirely but I can transfer it. I will exchange my own freedom for Weston's.
"Please say your name right now..." Zero muttered.
"PSYCH, YOU CAN'T DO THIS! Think of your brother! Think of how Sophie is gonna kill us! You can't-" Johan tried to say before the Psychdramon turned off his personal communicator.
Marigold, keep Weston steady! Psych announced. His eyes would glow a bright purple before he would launch a powerful stream of psychic energy towards Weston, leaving the Stingmon holding him unharmed. This energy link would connect the two of them, and bits of the HDL virus could be seen transferring from Weston to Psych.
"PSYYYYYCH!" Speed called out at the top of his lungs, tears running from underneath his helmet. "PSYCH, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS! I NEED YOU!"
"You have to stop him!" Akane pleaded to Grandmaster.
"Akane, please, I want to see where this leads. Imagine the things I can do with a psychic if it is able to do this," Grandmaster responded, leaving Akane near speechless...

Seeing as trying to reason with the Grandmaster was apparently an exercise in futility she shook her head and said nothing more. Since the Grandmaster was so far gone it was obvious reason was no longer understood by him but she wouldn't stand by and do nothing as this man tortured and enslaved digimon for his cruel gains.
At this point the holy aura surrounding Blitzwolfmon slowly vanished the spirit relinquishing its possession on the usually human host but not before sending a weakening message to Stacy before full control was returned to her. Now no longer possessed she looked around the room a bit showing visible confusion in what was going on. All she knew was she blacked out but then as the message entered her mind filling her in on everything important that she missed she saw the Grandmaster pull his weapon from her claws putting it away before dodging Zack's kick causing her to step back as the Grandmaster countered. Yet by putting his hands behind his back he made the mistake of leaving himself wide open. Looking at Marigold and the others for a moment she looked back at the Grandmaster and did something no one would likely expect. She dedigivolved back to her human state and silently crept up behind the Grandmaster before reaching out and taking ahold of his wrists while bracing her legs in expectation of a struggle. Sure she had weak upper body strength as a human but her legs were deceptively strong for one with such a dainty body type.
Looking at Akane after hearing her words and seeing her look at Speed and Psych, Stacy said "It's obvious this guy doesn't give a damn about you or any digimon for that manner. He claims to be a mourning father and yet he is more than willing to cause pain to digimon whether they are children or not doesn't matter to him. If you care for your sons then protect them from him since he's their greatest threat right now."
It seemed Psych couldn't be convinced from carrying out his plan and despite obvious protests. Though Stacy wanted to say something herself she figured the psychic digimon wouldn't listen to her either and frankly she had no solution to the virus situation. Wait a second! Zero was hacking the Grandmaster's system so maybe he could help. Looking at Zero's drone she called out "Zero! If you have any info on the virus that will help send it to Johan. Maybe he can help find a way to help the enslaved digimon."
Turning back to Akane, Stacy then said "You heard the Grandmaster with your own ears. He plans to turn your son into a mindless pawn. If you have any sense you will do the right thing and not just to save your hide."

Zack grunted as he felt that foot slam into the small of his back. his spine screamed as he crumpled forward, catching himself on his outstretched foot, turning. There was a blazing fire in his eyes. That was the only light on behind them. None of his usual good nature was on offer in that moment, all that he had to show was a blazing, toxic contempt for this man and everything he stood for. All of his taunting, all of his upper class "tut tut"-ing was doing nothing put pushing Zack closer and closer to the line. The two words he chose to use in reply to the Grandmaster's taunting spoke volumes about what he actually thought.
"@#$%. YOU." He said, the word coming out with a hard and sharp edge. This was not his normal good natured cursing like one would hear on TV. he was reaching down to the core of the swear's meaning and tossing all of that mud directly up at the Grandmaster. he pivoted on his hips, spinning on his heel to bring that hard light boot heel to bare, moving to slam it, full and heavy, against the broad side of the Grandmaster's chin. He was not playing game, he was fighting for the life of his daughter, more importantly, for her right to live happily and to make her out choices. He would lay down his life for that with no hesitation.
Marigold looked up at Psych, she flinched, turning her head away. She tried to think of something, wracking her brain for some idea, ANY idea that could prevent this. She came up short, nothing. He mind a black of frenzied static caused by the adrenaline she could hear pumping past her ears like the rushing of an unstoppable rapid. She had only one thing she could think of, one thing that she wanted to try and do, had to try and say to Psych before all of this went out of her control completely. She held Weston down tight, tears beginning to shimmer like falling stars down past her gleaming red eyes, leaving streaks across the dark, swampy green of her exoskeletal armor.
"I'm sorry Psych...I'm so...so sorry..." She said, the words tasting like bad alcohol on her tongue. She was letting him down, letting everyone down. She wasn't strong enough to stop the bad guy, she wasn't brave or smart enough to find a solution that didn't require the sacrifice play. Her father was struggling just to get a shot in and all she could do was hold the problem down and let someone else give up everything to solve it. That guilt would crush her for a long time, but she had to let Psych know that he wasn't doing this alone. That she was still here, she was right there, and she would be until the end of the line.

"There's a lotta code here Stacy," Zero responded on the other end. "It's possible that we could fabricate a cure from this but I'd also need a sample of the virus itself!"
Akane couldn't believe what she was hearing Grandmaster say. "But we had a deal," Akane said after Grandmaster had kicked Zack to the ground, with him ignoring the superhero wanna-be's cursing.. "You promised that we'd be safe from your plan! 'Three Digimon alone wouldn't cause any trouble,' that's what you said to me! You can't go back on your word now, please!"
"Even if I wanted to intervene, how do you expect me to stop something like that?" Grandmaster asked, pointing at the display of Psych transferring the virus via psychic powers. "A psychic might be more useful to the cause than a wizard, anyways."
Akane's eye twitched as she tried to process what her former boss just said. Stacy was right... he doesn't give a crap about me or my family. She clenched a fist... and decked Grandmaster right in the face before Stacy was able to grab hold of his wrists. He would stumble back in surprise as the punch was so powerful it actually managed to crack the glass on his visor. This allowed Zack to successfully kick the guy right in the chin, this time causing him to fall down to the ground. Naturally the remaining guards would all have their PawnChessmon aim at everyone in order to prevent more damage to the Grandmaster.
"AUGH, DAMMIT..." Grandmaster growled, rubbing his head as he attempted to pick himself up. "You Digimon loving lunatics..." As if he had any right to speak at this moment.
Not too long after it began, it ended. The virus had been fully transferred out of Weston and into Psych. Weston fell unconscious, with Speed zooming over to grab him before he hit the ground. The Speedramon looked back at his brother with teary eyes, who now looked like he was going to hurl at any moment. Psych looked up towards the ceiling and fired an Optical Blast towards the ceiling, creating a hole up to the surface big enough to be flown up through.
Please, listen to me... while I still have some control... Psych would tell the group, his "voice" now sounding sick and weary. I'm going to get you out of here as fast as possible, along with Weston and Akane. Don't come back for me!
"Psych, please..." Speed tried to plead to his brother, setting Weston down gently as he approached him. "I don't wanna leave here without you! I-I WON'T leave here without you! We're brothers, twins, we're supposed to stay together through everything! Don't... don't leave me alone..." The poor drake hugged his brother tight, tears running down his face. Psych would then return that same hug, with tears running down his own face as well.
Speed, listen to me, Psych said, taking off his helmet. We may have only had each other to start, but we haven't been alone since we joined AEGIS. Johan, Dokamon, Zero, Colin, Luke and Bellamy, Sophie, Lantis, Stacy, Vergil, Vee and Gummy... not to mention all the other friends we've made. We may be parting for now but I know for a fact that you won't go through it alone, and I have faith that you'll come and save me when the time is right. Psych gave a bittersweet smile as he handed his helmet to his brother. Just promise me that even though I have to go... that you'll never lose your spirit, the very thing that makes you the twin brother that I've known and grown to care about since birth. I love you Speed... and I always will.
With a heavy heart, Psych would use his telekinetic powers on Speed, Stacy, Zack, Marigold, Weston, Akane and Zero's drone, throwing them all through the hole in the ceiling that he had just created, which would have them all land just outside the front door of the abandoned building, the hole being visible in the middle of the first room. Psych growled as he could hear the Grandmaster laughing behind him.
"You know you've lost... in a matter of moments you'll be mine to control."
Not if this works, Psych retorted. As long as I am still in control I will cause you as much pain as I possibly can!
His eyes now glowing bright purple, Psych would lift his arms high up into the air. The building around them started to rumble and break apart, bits of ceiling now falling to the ground, not just in the underground facility but up above on the abandoned building disguise. The guards all looked up in shock while Grandmaster looked around him in surprise. "No! Stop! What are you doing?!"
If I'm lucky, ending this whole thing right now! Psych replied. More and more of the building came crashing down on them, with Psych looking up at the piece of roof that was now going to fall on himself and Grandmaster. A single tear rolled down his cheek as it came closer and closer...
...before he lost all feeling entirely.

"Should of known finding the cure wouldn't be so simple." Stacy said with a groan before she continued "Shit. So where are we going to find this virus. I don't think the Grandmaster would be stupid enough to be carrying more of it around in his pocket."
When Akane lept for the Grandmaster it caught Stacy by surprise as she awkwardly stumbled back and away from the Grandmaster just before she was about to grab ahold of him only to see Akane flat out deck him in the face. Then Zack was able to deliver a blow to the masked man's chin sending the Grandmaster to the ground. Stacy felt a very slight hint of satisfaction as she flatly said "One would think you would no better than to enrage a mom to that point."
Then she saw the guards heading back their way before she said "Damn it. Not these asshats again. You think at least the humans would know enough to at least be cautious." Shaking her head she swiftly returned back to being Blitzwolfmon before turning her attention to Psych and Weston all while keeping an ear out in case the PawnChessmon got the idea to get much closer.
Psych now had the virus inside his body with Weston now unconscious but the virus hadn't seemed to take full effect. Blitzwolfmon clenched her hands into fists in frustration feeling powerless to do anything. She watched as Speed embraced his twin and pleaded with him. Blitzwolfmon was only faintly aware she was crying as well when Psych removed his helmet and handed it to Speed. Just as she was about to find her voice she felt Psych lift her and the others out of the hole he had created in the ceiling and before she knew it they were all standing outside the building.
Next thing she knew the building behind the group collapsed on itself causing her to freeze in shock as she realized what Psych must of done and seconds later, as if the shock wearing off, she found herself amidst the rubble digging frantically through it her claws ripping through the building as if it were tissue paper in an attempt to dig for the psychic dragon. Her claws were moving at her top running speed of sixty miles per hour her efforts sending bits of the rubble flying. No! She would not let someone die again on her watch.

Zack hit the floor outside the building in a dull daze, watching it clattering and crumbling into a heap in front of him, the entire process mirrored softly in the reflections of his visor. he could feel the aches and pains where he had over exerted himself only slightly, as if they were trying to nag at him from very far away. His mind was locked in endless circles, running over itself again and again as he watched the last of that rubble fall. he laid there, totally still, shell shocked. He barely seemed to breath, he couldn't take his eyes away from the heap even as it stilled to little more than the soft plumes of dust that were hanging, suspended in the air before they finally settled back to earth.
"Dad!" Marigold shouted, the form of the massive Stingmon stomping through the dust cloud like a bull in a china shop. She found him quickly, looking down at her father, seeing him laying there on one side like all of the sense, all of the sensation had been flung out of him. She could barely even hear his weak and shivering breaths against the material at the inside of his helmet. "DAD! A-are you hurt, can you hear me? Say something!" She said, falling to her knees beside him and pulling his helmet roughly off of his head, tossing it, rattling to one side and gasping as she got a real look at his expression.
Tears rolled down over his face toward the ground, ceaseless and unending. His mouth was hanging open, seemingly unconscious of the dust and grit that was beginning to settle against his lips and tongue with every weak breath he took in. They seemed to be frozen there, forever stuck in that one traumatic moment in time. It seemed to be endless before he actually turned his head up to look at her, looking up at his girl, his baby standing above him...the daughter that Psych had been forced to die to protect. The one promise Zack had made to himself and to her, that he wouldn't let anything ever separate them...and he'd failed to keep it...and someone else paid the price for that weakness.
"I...I...I c-...I couldn't..." he said, croaking, sputtering as if he had forgotten how to talk. His eyes welling up with another round of sobs as Marigold wrapped him up in her arms, her hands pressing against his back as she held her father's face to her chest. He broke down, his heroic bravado shattering, twinkling to the floor in little pieces as he just sucked in lung after lung full of cruel, gritty, hot hair and he SCREAMED.

"What have I done...?" Johan asked out loud in a hoarse and quiet voice, after the entire group took some time to let everyone just take the scene in. He watched the monitor as it showed the remains of the building they had gone to search, and the search party who now all looked completely devastated. Zack was not taking it well in the slightest, but the winner of distraught was clearly Speed. He was on his knees, looking at the destroyed building in front of him, holding on tight to Psych's helmet. "I... I can't feel him in my Digicore anymore," Speed whispered, on the verge of full-on sobbing. Akane wasn't fairing much better, as tears could be seen coming down her face as she stared at the wreckage with a hand placed on her chest. In her mind... she had just lost one of her sons, one that she never even got to fully know. "Speed, I... I am so sorry," Johan's voice came from the drone as it hovered next to Speed. "I didn't know something like this could happen. If I did I wouldn't have asked you two to come along.""I don't blame you, Johan," Speed said as he stood up, his face growing concerningly dark as he did so. His gaze would then focus on Stacy... the one who activated the alarms to begin with... "...I blame her!" He began to stomp over to her before the drone flew in front of Speed's face. "Speed, you are not in a right state of mind right now," Dokamon's voice came through. "Please refrain from any hasty decisions in the midst of your grief."
"You wanna know how those alarms went off in the first place?! She tried to punch those cages in order to break them and free the Digimon, just like that! She didn't even think! They triggered the alarms and... and..."
"And that was a hasty decision on her part. But that does not mean she was at fault for your brother's fate, she could not have known and it was his choice in the end. It was all a matter of circumstance. Do not make the same mistake."
"I... I..." Speed angrily stammered, not wanting to admit that Dokamon was right. The drake zoomed over to a piece of rubble and angrily tossed it into the air as he screamed. "Psych..." he cried one last time. "Assuming that Psych is still alive, which I believe is the more favorable option," Zero's voice said through the drone, "all this data I stole is near worthless in terms of making a cure unless I actually have a sample of the virus. And whatever was left seems to have been destroyed when Psych tore the whole place down."
Akane would perk up after hearing that. "Actually," she would quietly say, reaching into her suit pocket and pulling out a silver capsule, "I had an extra dose on me, just in case. It's only a prototype, though. Would you be able to use this?""Yeah, I would, actually... but first I think we all have a right to know just who you are."
Akane sighed. "You're right..." she said. Her form flickered momentarily before shifting into that of a tall red dinosaur, with white hair and yellow eyes. A Growlmon. "My name is Akane, and... and I'm Speed and Psych's mother. Or rather... I'm Hikaru and Kaoru's mother."
"Wait... what?" Speed asked. "We were orphans, we don't have parents. And those aren't our names. Quit making up stories, I'm already in a bad place as is."
"But Hikar- I mean, Speed, it's the truth," Akane pleaded. "It's... a long story. A story that... will probably make you hate me more than ever. But long story short, I moved to the human world some time before you and Ka- ...Psych, got here. After I discovered you were both here I accidentally walked in on Grandmaster discussing with those he trusted about his plan involving the Digimon. He saw me, and like an idiot I ran, basically outing myself as a Digimon. He caught up with me, and in my fear of what he could do I pleaded him to spare you two. That's when he proposed the deal... I'd act as his assistant and help him with his plan, and he'd let the three of us go. It was the best case scenario in case no one stopped him...""But... but why didn't you just stop him yourself then?""You have no idea how much I wanted to. He's not a good human. But he always made sure to have the prototype virus on him, and the thought of becoming some... some mindless slave... it scared me. If I just didn't let my cowardice take over, none of this would've happened."
"I think we're all partly to blame for how tonight ended," Johan's voice came through. "You all should come back to AEGIS HQ... I believe I am going to need backup for when Sophie finds out and murders us all. Zack, Marigold... thank you. I know it doesn't mean much considering what happened, but you both were still incredibly valuable to the task tonight. I'll be in touch if I still have a place within AEGIS."
"Uh, Johan... everyone else... you might need to see this."
Zero's drone would then show a projection image of the Tamernet page where he was streaming. "I was recording the whole thing just in case, and there were tons of people and Digimon watching it. They've been leaving comments the whole time as well, take a look!" The screen would then show a bunch of different comments from many anonymous -- or not so anonymous -- users. -No way, this guy can really let humans control Digimon with their thoughts?
-So scary! :0
-0/10, grandmaster godmodded the whole time, reporting this stream
-grandmaster is so getting cancelled
-No way, the Digital World has superheroes now?!
-Did that wolf lady get possessed or something? ---That might be her spirit talking through her. It's a thing that happens sometimes with spirit users.
-worst wrestling stream i've ever seen, that guy was no-selling the whole time
-I'm so sorry for your loss, Speed... don't worry, we're gonna help find grandmaster and take him down!
-This is so sad, i cant stop crying ;-;
-For Psych, we must fight!
-How far is this guy gonna go before he gets his way?!
-Wow, this guy is not only a bigot, but also pretty stupid
-That one bee guy looks like a Kamen Rider. I dig it.
--OOOOH, GRANDMASTER GOT DECKED IN THE FACE BY HIS OWN HELPER! GET PWNED!
-So wait, how did he transfer the virus to himself from the Wisemon? ---with his psychic powers, duh
-down with Grandmaster! #GrandmasterIsOverParty While the fight may be far from over, as Grandmaster was still out there, the party had to answer to Sophie James, and they still had to search for Psych... hopefully when the group sees these comments, on how the viewers of this stream were on their side and supporting them and comforting them, even in their darkest moment... perhaps the internet wasn't such a bad invention after all, if it can allow others to see this horrible event happen and provide a light at the end of the tunnel on this dark chapter for our heroes. You will be found someday, Psych... everyone here has hope that you will be reunited with your brother in the future. [Thread exit]

Blitzwolfmon's claws slowly dimmed as she seemed to be running out of power causing her to pull her now filthy self from the ruins before dropping to her knees in defeat with her back facing the others before dedigivolving to her human form. Her right arm shaking causing her to clutch it while shaking with the force of her sobs. Zack wasn't the only one who felt like she failed but she didn't have the energy in her to do much now. Tough Stacy heard Speed's rage diverted to her in his grief she didn't so much as react while she listened to Dokamon talk sense into Speed but to be honest she felt so shitty she wouldn't blame him for ripping her apart.
When Akane mentioned carrying a prototype of the virus Stacy's sobs stopped suddenly as she weakly pushed herself to her feet and turned to face the others. Then she revealed the truth of who she was to everyone else who didn't hear her in the Grandmaster's headquarters that she was the mother of the twins known as Speed and Psych. Then she explained why she was working for the Grandmaster.
When Johan suggested they should head back Stacy couldn't agree more she was tired knowing if she didn't get back soon she may have a seizure in the streets which was testament to the physical and emotional stress she was undertaking. In her case lots of stress could cause a seizure do to the nature of her epilepsy but she didn't say anything out loud as she didn't cause more trouble.
When Zero's drone showed messages from others on Tamernet the support for Speed made her briefly smile before she headed off in the direction of AEGIS HQ. Sure at her slow shuffle she would likely be the last one back but that gave her time to face the aftermath when they were all back. The Grandmaster had better be watching out for next time she wouldn't be so hesitant to bash his head in on sight.
