"One good deed can lead to others returning the favor spreading the good karma to others making many people happier even if by only a little. Even a small good deed like donating a small amount of money can lead to one person spreading the karma by doing things like volunteering their time to helping those in need or even something as large as adopting children." Harmony said with a smile as she watched Zack pick up an apple core before flinging it into the air and it landed in Marigold's mouth.
"Sounds like our plan to donate some of our money to those in need after we earn it gambling could help many find at least a small amount of happiness. That warm fuzzy feeling when someone is happy is something most people want to see more of unless they are heartless monsters devoid of positive emotion." Blackjack said before looking at Marigold and said "Nice catch, Marigold. I am honestly surprised you missed any food given digimon tend to eat everything in sight."

The last of the apple core vanished down into Marigold's throat, her mandibles snapping together one last time to settle themselves back into place. One could probably ignore the hydrogen cyanide present in apple seeds considering one core's worth wouldn't be that dangerous to a HUMAN let alone a digimon and the fact that Marigold had already shown herself as not only able but also willing and eager to eat varnished hardwood.
"I suppose we got to talking and I didn't triple check my plate. Knowing me I set the core down with the intent to come back for it and then it left my brain the second something else happened." She said, now looking much more intently at the neatly piled dishes and baskets that she had been eating from, wondering if any other noticeable scraps were left behind.
"She does that a lot. She'll set down some food with the intention of just completing this ONE stitch before taking another bite but she'll get locked into the zone, finish the whole sweater or something without thinking and never get back to the food." He said. it was a very human failing for one's memory to fail them in the silliest ways just from a minor distraction of attention.

As Marigold made short work of the apple core in standard digimon fashion it seemed to vanish pretty quick before her mandibles snapped shut. She then proceeded to check the table for other scraps left behind. There didn't seem to be any from Blackjack and Harmony's notice so it was likely all the food was gone.
Blackjack laughed when Zack mentioned sometimes forgetting about her food when sewing. "I may forget to eat sometimes when 'in the zone' when gambling but at least Harmony can remember to make sure we get food cause when I get going I risk skipping meals which is bad for many digimon given our metabolisms."
"Good thing both you and Marigold have someone like me and Zack to make sure you guys eat at least. I shudder to think how badly you'd do without me around, Blackjack." Harmony said receiving a stink eye from her twin before she blew a raspberry at him which caused the yellow Cardmon to snicker despite his mild annoyance with his sister.

"Now Harmony, we've got to be fair here." Zack said with a grin as he looked the yellow cardmon in the eye and gestured to where Blackjack and Marigold were sitting. "Let's not pretend that they don't do as much to nail our feet to the floor as we do for them. I know for a fact that I'd be literally dead without Marigold with me and I'm willing to bed that there's a few personality flaws of your own that Blackjack covers for. Even if you do like to play the angle of the mature and in control older sister." He said, knowing Harmony knew what he meant. Neither of them was perfect and living in such a tight pair meant that there was always something one side of the duo was doing for the other.
"Just, you know, metaphorically in you guys' case. Since neither of you have any feet." She said in response to her father's "nail our feet to the floor" line, just a literal and pedantic enough observation to make her father laugh.

There went Zack's goofy grin again as he directed it at Blackjack and Marigold before he spoke. In some ways he reminded Harmony of her brother just as in some ways Marigold reminded her of herself. The father and daughter were an interesting duo to say the least and not just because of the obvious deal of a human adopting a digimon as his daughter. "Fair enough. You have a point as we both root one another just as Marigold and you do for each other." Harmony said after awhile.
"As for Harmony's personality flaws I do cover for them but mostly out of battle. Harmony is usually the level headed and mature one but one flaw I admit she has is she sometimes thinks a little too much and can be somewhat indecisive when out of battle while I, in and out of battle, play things more by ear as you humans would say. I am the one more prone to rely mostly on raw instinct which is why Harmony being able to strategize better serves us potentially well outside of battle." Blackjack said as he played off his twin sister though she didn't seem to mind having her flaws admitted so openly to Zack and Marigold since the pair meant the twins no harm.
"Of course our flaws seemed to be not as noticeable when we DNA digivolved into Tempest Cardmon R as it felt as if our minds were one. It was an interesting sensation to say the least and one neither of us would mind repeating if necessary."

"Play it by ear. Ironic choice of word because, again, neither one of you has got any ears to speak of." Marigold said, cupping one of her legs near the side of her head as if a human cupping their ear toward a sound, she didn't have any ears either though her antennae fulfilled some of the same purpose as a human ear.
"Both of you ending up totally merged huh? Now THAT would be an interesting sensation wouldn't it?" Zack said, leaning back in his chair and fully looking over at Marigold as if trying to visualize or imagine inside of his own mind what being perfectly merged with Marigold would feel like.
"I'll take a pass on that for the moment. With how many hummed TV themes and random trivia comes out of your MOUTH I can only imagine what the inside of your HEAD sounds like. I'd never be able to get the random knowledge out of my brain with a toothbrush, let alone trying to get rid of it the normal way.' Marigold said with a slight shiver. She knew the function of her father's mind more than well enough to also know that she wasn't all that interested in the inner workings of his moment by moment thoughts.
"Probably for the best at the moment at least. I'm perfectly capable of tossing myself headlong into oncoming danger but I'd have to think twice about doing it with someone else's body. I'm not good at the whole "thinking twice" part of that equation." He said, using air quotes around "thinking twice" as if he didn't fully understand the definition of the concept in the first place.

"Yeah I suppose it is an interesting choice of words, isn't it?" Blackjack asked with a light chuckle before he said "Now I wonder how some digimon without visible ears hear. Maybe they have something on their bodies that has the same function. Who knows other than Yggdrasill himself, I guess."
"DNA digivolving is an interesting sensation indeed. Not only does it feel warm and pleasant. At least for us it feels as if we are a complete being which makes sense I guess given our nature as twins and sharing a digi core between us." Harmony said as she remembered how it felt when she and her brother DNA digivolved.
When Marigold shivered at the thought of having her mind merged with Zack, Blackjack said "Marigold, I can see how being one in mind and body through this process is not a comfortable thought for some. I guess since Harmony and I think a lot alike I never thought about how things could be to those who are very different like you and Zack."

"Well I know how I hear at least without any ears." She said, twitching her long antennae just above her eyes. They were always in slight motion, picking up the sounds of the world and some other sensation, some sixth sense that she couldn't explicitly define as they twitched back and forth picking up the particulates and waves that were all around them in the open air.
"Yes, well. Some answers are hidden until you look in the right place." Zack said. He and Marigold looking slightly uncomfortable at the mention of the "god" of the Digital World. Zack wasn't very religious in the first place which was probably part of why he found it so disquieting that this "creator" of the Digital World and its Digimon inhabitants seemed to be so omnipresent and unquestioned. Especially considering the implications if even half of the stories he had heard about this far off, violent god turned out to be true.
"Someone will find out. Someday. And then we'll all look back and giggle at how ignorant we were. Like that newspaper headline about how it would take humans a million years to build a flying machine only a week before the Wright Brothers first invented the airplane." She said, also not exactly comfortable with ascribing the unknown to something that you had to take on faith. her father taught her to be curious and questioning, not to shrug her shoulders and say "god works in mysterious ways."

Blackjack watching Marigold's antenna twitch before he said "The digimon of this world have powers and abilities that humans would find illogical so that's why I rarely think too much on the oddities of other digimon."
Harmony smiled at Zack's words though he and Marigold looked uncomfortable at the concept of "God". Though for digimon Yggdrasill was a physical entity that most digimon were aware of in some form or another even if they never saw the super computer that created the Digital World in any form. "Finding those answers can also be half the fun regardless of the difficulty one could face. Oh and if Blackjack made you uncomfortable, I assure he didn't mean to.
"Yeah, my bad. Sorry. I forgot about folks having different views on the world." Blackjack said looking awkward as he apologized to the father and daughter pair.
Marigold's next words then made Blackjack and Harmony giggle as well at the image before Harmony said "Time has a way of eventually making fools of all of us both human and digimon alike so seeing such headlines is a funny thought."

"Don't apologize, it wasn't something you did on purpose. Just an...accidental culture clash is all." He said, nodding as he settled on the term he had chosen for it at random. No matter how much time he spent here, a child of man just had some hurdles of thought and understanding that the digital world always chose to throw in his way.
"Dad and I aren't exactly the...religious type. Part of the thing about being vigilantes is the distrust of institutionalized power structures. Especially power structures that can often be as...for lack of a better term violent as the unseen god of the digital world is said to be." She said, not wanting to say anything divisive or controversial in mixed, polite company but unable to take her mind off of some of the harsh fables that circulated in the digital world.
"Exactly. We're not the kind to shrug our shoulders and say "only god knows". Just...it's not a train of thought that tended to lead to good things in the human world." He said, a slight, unconscious shiver running up his spine at the historical tales that flooded his mind that had been defined by a rampant overrun of uncontrolled faith.

Blackjack laughed before he said "Yeah but for me I guess it's gonna happen a bunch since Harmony and I don't understand humans all that well. Perhaps my sister and I should take a look at the Human World one day so we can observe and learn more about their way of looking at things. I'm not used to the idea of being the socially awkward kid when I am a gambler and all."
"Don't worry about the whole thing about not being the religious type, Marigold. Blackjack and I understand that religion isn't for everyone." Harmony said after taking in the words of both Zack and Harmony. Then she said "To be honest, Blackjack and I aren't really the most religious either. Though we know of the existence of the super computer Yggdrasil, we're not exactly sure if he's a god even though he created the Digital World and its inhabitants. I know it makes the two of us seem weird compared to other digimon but we view Yggdrasil as an advanced and wise artificial lifeform but not sure if he is more, you know?"

"Exploring is always good for the mind and soul, my friend. I mean, I would know. After all the time I've spent wandering the wild, lawless land that is the Digital World. Not lawless in the sense that people don't have laws but lawless in the sense than anything can seem to happen for any reason out here." He said, looking out over the beach and seeing at least three things in his single scan that wouldn't make sense in the human world that he is now totally resigned to seeing in the digital world.
"The idea of an out of control supercomputer becoming something akin to a god is one of the ideas that's been floating around in science fiction for as long as there has BEEN either computers or science fiction. Perhaps my father and I read too much but it's not the kind of scenario that is predisposed to ending well for everyone involved." She said, imagining the kinds of artificial intelligence villains from media ranging from HAL 9000 to Skynet to Venjix, none of them exactly leading to the best outcome for the inhabitants of their worlds.

"I can see why as seeing new sights can be refreshing as well as a way to potentially learn new things. As for the Digital World, yes it is weird for humans to see things like mountains floating for seemingly no good reason to anomalies opening at random intervals. It's like the human's perception of the Laws of Physics is only an extremely loose perception even with what limited chaos Harmony and I have seen in the brief time we've been alive." Blackjack said laughing as he thought of the various things he heard of but had yet to see. Maybe over time he and Harmony would see some things crazier. Who knew?
"It does make me wonder at some level who thought that sentient super computer being in charge of the Digital World was a good idea seeing how easily things could go awry. Not even Yggdrasil is infallible as he has been known for making some mistakes some of them big ones over the years but somehow the Digital World has endured. Perhaps the said super computer has also learned from his mistakes so things don't end up like those human science fiction stories you spoke about, Marigold. One should hope for the best, right?"
"Perhaps the Digital World spawns so many heroes cause the resident super computer has learned that at least evil has to be kept in check so direct interference isn't necessary."

"Well why the digital world has maintained itself in relative peace and prosperity despite the constant violent chaos is pretty evident. And it doesn't need to be taken on faith." She said, pointing out down the line of the shore to see the people as they lived. Laughing, being together, some of them unhappy for the moment but going along anyway. "People. Digimon people. But still people. Despite the chaos and the uncertainty most digimon get up, they ply their trade and they live the best lives they can. That is the ultimate bedrock of...everything really. That when chaos passes, people will get up the next day and go on." She said. Every digimon had seen some kind of catastrophe or violence in life, that was simply that nature of it. And yet they continued to stand and to go about their lives.
"That's the magic of life really. Floating mountains, great digital supercomputer gods. It's all just the background radiation. The magic and faith of the everyday is as simple as four people, sitting on the beach in the sand. Talk about god and talking about nothing at all." He said, with a smile. It was a well known human truism that the longer a talk about nothing went on, the more profound and discovering it would become. It seemed that indeed the quartet were becoming in tuned with the truth of one another as they listened to the sandy, hissing crash of the sea upon the coast.

"Or at least not completely on faith anyway." Blackjack noted as he looked down the shoreline seeing what Marigold was indicating the various people human and digimon alike enjoying the peace that the beach afforded some of the digimon operating various snack stands while others were playing on the beach among the humans. It was a wonderful sight and Blackjack said "I can see why a peace like this is worth fighting for. If only both worlds were always in peace like this."
"Digimon and humans alike just do the best they can in the environment they are born into. It's all we can expect really what with getting up and living their lives while dodging the chaos or even fighting it off." Harmony said as she watched the others on the beach as well.
"Ah yes. The best part of life I think is the simplicities of life though the Digital World's oddities are intriguing enough to spur one's curiosity, I still enjoy getting a break from the general chaos around me as I'm sure is true for everyone."
