Kiyo browsed her wardrobe. She was intending to hunt through the digital world for some fun mysteries. Something interesting to do. Something to occupy herself with. She was getting bored, she needed to do anything to get herself out of this rut she was in. If she could explore some places; maybe make a friend or two; get some cool info; find out more about the mysterious world her companions were from; that would be a good day. She would have accomplished something, and it's been a while since she felt accomplished.
"Kiyo?" The green and cream rabbit Usagi, a Terriermon, sat on her bed, watching her toss around clothes and coats left and right. "What are you doing?" He tilted his head as a t-shirt was discarded.
"I'm trying," she pulled a wool jacket off a hanger and held it up for inspection, before tossing it aside, unsuitable. "To find something to wear for our adventure out there," she waved a hand in the vague direction of her bedroom window. "In the digital world. It's cold and snowing, I really don't want to be walking around in shorts and a tank top."
The steadily growing pile of clothes on the floor shifted around, and the purple and brown counterpart Mimi, a Lopmon, poked her head out. "Yeah bro, isn't it obvious?"
"Whatever, you didn't know either!" Usagi huffed at his sister, getting onto all fours to glower down at her. "And stop playing around, you're making a mess."
Mimi stuck her tongue out at her brother, "I'm just having fun." She burrowed back into the clothing. Usagi growled playfully, before pouncing down at his sister and the two squealed at they rolled around, play fighting.
Kiyo left them to play as she pulled out a simple faux leather jacket. It was plain, but stylish and had a thick lining that would keep her warm if she layered it. She threw it onto her bed instead of the floor, the good pile. She did this until she went through her entire wardrobe and had several options to wear.
The twins were now chasing each other around the room, as Kiyo sorted through the approved clothes to put together some outfits to bring along. She wasn't sure how long they were going to be out for, but it was good to prepare for at least a week. You never know what might happen when you're wondering the wilderness. Especially that of the digital world.
Twenty minutes later, the twins had tired themselves out enough to bundle together in the corner of Kiyo's bed and keep themselves entertained with a picture book. Kiyo had put together five outfits she was happy with, both practical and stylish. They would keep her warm and give her the motion needed to climb a mountain. Just in case.
She packed all but one outfit into a large backpack and made sure to pack scarfs, gloves and hats. Enough for all three of them. She remembered the twins complaining about cold ears the last time.
Double checking she had everything she would need packed away, she changed into her going out outfit. Thermal lined trousers, a long sleeved sweater and the jacket over the top. She made sure to grab her Xros Loader and squeezed the D-Terminal into her backpack with everything else.
"Alright you two, lets go." She shouldered the backpack as she spoke.
"Finally!" Mimi jumped up in excitement, rushing to jump up onto Kiyo's back, taking up the right side. Usagi making his way over to climb up and settle on the left side a lot calmer than his sister.
Kiyo was used to the way they would settle on her shoulders. But she remembered the first few times and how top heavy it felt. Had she gained some upper body muscle? She must have, carrying around two heavy digital rabbits around a lot of the time. Was that why her coats were feeling a little tighter around her shoulders, or was she just putting on some winter weight? She really didn't want to have to buy new clothes.
She scrolled through the options on her Xros Loader, trying to find the right setting. The bonus of having her own apartment, and a freelance job, she didn't need to worry about people missing her. As long as she wasn't gone for the holidays and remembered to text her mum every time she got back home, no one checked in on her. Finding the Digi Port app, she pressed the button and waited around for the portal to open up.
"So what are we gonna do this time?" Usagi asked, playing around with his ear.
"Anything interesting. Explore some new places, maybe find some mystery to solve." Kiyo shrugged as best as she could. "We might find someone else to join the ranks, which would be fun. Could give us some new forms to play around with."
Mimi flailed her arms around. "I get to play with the new Digimon first!"
"No fair, why do you go first?" Usagi pushed at his sister and the two started squabbling again.
With the portal now open, Kiyo stepped through. Blinking away the black spots from her vision, she looked about the Trailmon Terminal. It was fairly empty, only one other person milling around, waiting for the Trailmon. Walking out of the station, she looked to the sky. The bright blue, sunny sky. Devoid of any clouds, the sun beat down warming everything it could reach.
"God DAMN it!" Of course this would happen to her of all people. She planned for cold weather, and this damn world was nice and sunny and warm. What was it, the middle of summer?
"It looks like you're a little overdressed." Mimi snickered and Kiyo was only slightly tempted to dump her on the floor. Usagi just pet her hair consolingly.
"Fine, we're going back." Kiyo pressed the button on her Xros Loader to re-open the portal. Grateful that it would at least dump her back into her bedroom. "Time to sort through my clothes again."
