"Huh? Really? And I even grabbed the softest-lookin' sponge that we had..." Haru muttered before shrugging. "Well, I had to hold some smelly bird while helping them inside, so I'm starting to smell myself. So I can't really leave right now," Haru moved over to the other side of the siblings and took a dip herself.
"Man, that feels good!" She moaned as if there was a weight being lifted off of her back as she threw her arms back and leaned against the side. There was a moment of pause before she asked out of the blue, "I guess it's kinda weird that we're helping you out so much, but... I dunno..." She wasn't really sure where her thoughts were going, really. She seemed to just be saying whatever was on her mind. "I figure someone who was just lookin' after their sibling like that can't be that bad a person. I know that's not the case, but that's just what I wanna believe, you know?"
She chuckled wistfully before adding, "But Ruri, you've got a good brother, you know? And you must be a really good lil' sis, too! I dunno what happened for you two to be down on such hard times, and I ain't gonna ask, but I doubt that Kohaku could have pushed himself nearly as hard if you weren't there for him to look out for, you know?" She gave them a playful grin before adding in a more dramatic tone, "And how would I, who is just a little girl know such things? Well, I'll let you two in on a little secret!" She sank down into the tub a bit, scooping some bubbles towards her. Then she stood up, hunched over with a group of bubbles covering the lower half of her face, her voice imitating an old man's. "I am secretly the wise old sage, Haruzen! Though my true nature can only be revealed in the bath! Otherwise, I'm cursed to forever be a beautiful young girl! Such a tragic fate, is it not? Hohohoho!"

Kohaku blushed and sank his head half-way into the bath water when Haru called him out about his hygiene, clearly embarrassing the poor Falcomon quite a bit. He couldn't help the fact that he didn't have access to a bath for a while. Anyways, it appeared she wasn't going to leave as she entered the bath on the opposite side from Kohaku and Ruri, regardless of what either thought of the idea. Still, it was technically her bathroom, so they couldn't argue if they wanted to. There was a moment of pause before Haru spoke up again, mentioning how weird it was that she and Natsu helped some random Digimon on the street like this. "It is pretty unconventional," Kohaku said with a nod, "but we're appreciative, nonetheless. If you weren't around... I'd hate to think of what would've happened to us. I pushed myself too hard to get us home."
Haru then spoke to Ruri, stating that she must be a good little sister if she had such a good brother. The Yokomon smiled and nodded. "Yup! My brother's always there to play with me or keep me company! Even after Dad went away..."
Then Haru did something... odd. She claimed she'd be letting Ruri in on a secret, before she sank into the tub and put some bubbles on her face, before spouting some crazy story about being some wise sage stuck in the form of a little girl, their true nature only shown in the bath. Kohaku was confused, but Ruri was just losing it at how silly that bath bubble beard looked on Haru. Well, it seems like it was a success!
Before, Haru mentioned that she didn't want to ask how the siblings got into their situation in the first place. But after the horrors he had experienced, Kohaku felt that he should at least have to warn them. "Our father was... not a good person," Kohaku explained. "We managed to get away and live with our grandfather in Whitewater for a while, but..." Did Kohaku really want to give Haru the burden of this knowledge? He took a deep breath. "I think we're under attack. Something's happening, this... virus, I think. It can be spread through so many ways, it was even growing inside of fruit. It... changes a Digimon, into something I can't even comprehend... a true monster. Some scummy Digimon were selling the infected fruit in Whitewater, and Gramps ate one..."
The Falcomon went silent. Their grandfather's fate was clear as day...

Things seemed to be going pretty happy, and Haru was happy to make the kid laugh, even if Kohaku just didn't seem to "get it" But Ruri knew what was up, though. Maybe Haru was secretly awesome with kids...? Nah. She just had about as much self-control as one most of the time!
Kohaku then went on to explain a little bit of what happened to him and Ruri. Their old man was a deadbeat or scumbag or something, and they lived with their grandfather until he got sick. But since the Digital World didn't like to do anything by halves, getting sick apparently meant turning into a monster or something. Once Kohaku finished, Haru let out a sigh, the air blowing away the bubbly beard as she leaned back. As she watched some of the bubbles float through the air for a bit, she thought of what the appropriate thing to say was. And by the time the bubbles all popped, she figured she's just say whatever was on her mind.
"Sounds rough, dude. Real rough..." Not exactly the most profound of statements, was it? But Haru was barely a teenager, and even as an individual, empathy wasn't exactly one of her strongest attributes. She couldn't exactly make Kohaku or Ruri feel better about what had happened, and Haru knew that it would be best not to even try. Maybe Natsu or Gabumon could do it, but she was the wrong bathtime buddy for this.
Cold logic and reasoning, though? She could work with that. "So you came all the way from Whitewater, then? You sure you wanna go back so soon? Doesn't really look like you had a good run of it since," She shrugged and added, "Plus I hear Rosewoods about as safe as you can get these days. Especially for lil' kids like Ruri. Plus, I hear that Rosewood's got knights and stuff! That's gotta be a pretty cool, right?"
She tilted her head back. Would Natsu and Gabumon get upset if she offered? Probably not. As most people tended to point out, they were kinder than Haru was. "Well, whatever you decide, you can stay here for as long as you want. It's technically Gaomon and Gabumon's, but they spend most of their time in the other world, so this place hardly ever gets used unless Natsu needs some extra time to study for a test, or if we get scuffed up while traveling in the Digital World and need more time to heal. It's a pain having to explain injuries to our parents and teachers and stuff..."
She shrugged one more time, getting out of the large tub and started stretching. "I figure I'm pretty clean for now, though! When you're ready and dried off, come on back and join us. I think we have a deck of playing cards around if you wanna play a bit before dinner." She looked around as if someone were listening, leaned down towards the kids, and whispered, "Natsu, Gabumon, and Gaomon all have the worst poker faces! I could use a challenge, you know?" She gave them a wink and then scooped up another handful of bubbles and put them on her face once more. "Old man Haruzen says, 'Peace out, whippersnappers'!" She then walked out while pretending to have a hunched back.

Kohaku let out a sad sigh. "So after our grandfather... passed, we set out on our own. This... human and her Hawkmon friend offered to help us out, but I said no. At that point I was so upset that I just didn't want to see anyone there. Thinking back on it now, it was a really stupid thing to do. So, we left the Binary Archipelago in some sort of attempt to make it back to where we originally called home."
Then Haru suggested something that Kohaku wasn't expecting to hear, which was the question of why Kohaku and Ruri don't just stay in Rosewood. Haru apparently didn't think that Whitewater was a very good option for the two of them. "Whitewater's our home, it's where I grew up, where Ruri was growing up. We can't just abandon our home, and our friends there... can we?"
It didn't end there; Haru even suggested that Kohaku and Ruri stay here in the cabin for as long as they had to. "We can? Really?!" Ruri asked, her face lighting up a bit. "That's really, REALLY generous of you, but we have ways of getting back to Whitewater after we rest here," Kohaku said, not exactly wanting to take advantage of Haru's generosity. "Thank you for the offer, however."
Haru then got out of the tub, stating that she was clean enough and inviting Kohaku and Ruri to play cards with them before dinner after their bath, before adding that the others had bad "poker faces" and wanting a challenge. Kohaku assumed that meant the others were bad at not revealing if they had good hands or not. The Falcomon smiled and nodded in response. "Sounds good. Ruri and I will finish up in here and then we'll join you shortly."
After Haru had left, Kohaku and Ruri began drying off and cleaning up after themselves in the bathroom. However, since everything was going way too smoothly, of course something had to come along and ruin it. Natsu could hear a knock coming from the front door of the cabin. If she or anyone else opened it, they would come face to face with a chicken-like Digimon with a straw hat, red Gi and two swords. His right eye was also closed, and had a slash-like scar across it The general aura of this bird just screamed bad news. "Hello there. I've been made aware that you have brought a Falcomon and Yokomon home with you. Well, it just so happens that I am looking for those exact same Digimon. May you bring them out here for me?"

"Well, the offer's always open, even if things don't work out, or if you just wanna come visit, okay?" Haru would answer them before leaving. She shrugged and figured she wouldn't force the issue. Shoving someone through a door was one thing, but leaving the door open on a possibility was probably for the best. That'd be something Natsu or Gabumon would say... right? So she'd dry herself off and make her way back to the cabin.
But while that was still happening, there was a knock on the door. "Huh? We don't often get visitors!" Gabumon commented, stirring a pot of some stew. Truth was, Natsu had already screwed up the recipe and preparations, so it was another night of a mish-mash stew alongside some sides that barely even needed to be prepped! She was... still kind of working on the whole, "learning to cook" bit.
"I'll get the door. Just keep stirring that... I think!" Natsu told the lizard Digimon as she backed up. That's what you did with stuff like this, right? She moved over towards the door, "Hello, can we he-" She froze after a single glance from the intimidating chicken swordsmon. He was looking for Kohaku and Ruri.
Unlike Haru, Natsu hadn't yet heard about the kid's whole ordeal, but she didn't need to have known to see that this guy didn't seem very friendly. And if those kids were out on their own, starved and homeless, she imagined it was because something was making them hit the road. Or someone. So she simply gave a polite smile and shook her head. "I'm sorry, but you must be mistaken. There aren't any such people here! Just me, my partners, and my sister who's out right now!"
Speaking of, Haru had walked up, a large white t-shirt over her bathing suit, a pair of sandals, a towel around her hair. "Yo! What's going on here?" She asked, casual and friendly.
"He was asking if we've seen a Falcomon and Yokomon!" Natsu answered. Haru clenched her fist in anger and all but spit on the ground.
"Oh, those brats?" Haru growled in anger. "Get this, dude! My sis and I were in the Rosewood Market, trying to pick up some good bargains so we're good for the week! And then we found these two brats lying unconscious on the side of the road! Everyone seemed to be ignoring them, so we picked them up, you know? Tried to do the right thing and all that! So we brought them home, gave them some snacks, and the moment my sis and I weren't paying attention, the brats had run off with some of our food and our piggy bank!"
"We were saving up to help expand the house. Maybe install a swimming pool, you know?" Natsu added, her tone considerably annoyed.
"Anyways, are you some kind of bounty hunter or something?" Haru asked, crossing her arms. "'Cause if you do find those brats, try and get us our six-thousand bits back!" As Haru spoke, she began to gradually raise her voice to the point where just about anyone nearby would hear her. "So if they don't want us or anyone else comin' after them, they'd best get away as quickly as possible!"

The Buraimon would soon be met by someone he didn't expect to see, a little human girl. When asked about the whereabouts of the Falcomon and Yokomon, she simply said that there were no such Digimon there: just her, her sister, and her partners. Before any more could be said, said sister had walked in, dressed like she had just gotten out of the shower, and was made aware of the Buraimon's inquiry. She proceeded to explain how they had picked up the Falcomon and Yokomon off the street and gave them food, only for them to bolt out of there with all of their money. The way that Haru's voice had been raised couldn't have been more perfectly timed. Kohaku and Ruri had both gotten all dry and were ready to re-enter the main cabin at that moment, and Haru's voice could be heard right as Kohaku was reaching for the doorknob. He pulled his wing away, a gut feeling telling him that that was a warning. "Ruri, go back to the bathroom and hide," Kohaku whispered to his sister. "We have a Code Skull."
"Right," Ruri said with a nod before hurrying back to the deluxe outhouse. Kohaku slowly opened the door a crack and looked through with a single eye, just so he could see what was happening. And sure enough, Kohaku's fears were realized. He saw the Buraimon clear as day, talking to the twins at the front door. After the girls told their story, the Buraimon chuckled a bit before he said, "Well that's funny, because I remember being told by him that he would never, never stoop to my level, to never become 'something as vile as a pirate.'" He then quickly pulled out both of his swords, the tips of them both mere inches away from each of the twins' throats. "Drop your Digivices, now. If I see either of your Digimon try to pull a fast one on me... well, let's say they won't have a human partner anymore, ya hear? I'm not playing nice after last time I dealt with you filthy humans." The Buraimon's voice made it clear that not only did he mean business, but that he had had a previously bad experience with a Tamer before. Could that explain the eye...? "Now, let me ask you again: where are my children?"

Welp. This was certainly a predicament! Mr. Chickenknives seemed to be quite the jerk. And apparently the kids' father. That would explain about a thousand things right now. Natsu felt her knees weaken, but she stood standing from sheer force of will. And it was clear that she found this feathery foe pretty scary. Immediately Gaomon and Gabumon went to act, but Buraimon's threat froze them for a moment. That, and a quick, innocuous hand signal from Natsu.
Haru, on the other hand? Looked cool as a cucumber. Though underneath, she was certainly scared, but it was currently overwhelmed by being fuming mad that the dude dared to threaten her sister like that. Even so, she kept up her poker face and shrugged. "Sorry, but we're not dropping the only things that can stop us from you killing us, and us killing you. You can threaten us all you want, but the fact of the matter is that your kids are long gone. They may not have stolen our money, but the fact remained that we gave them some food and bits and sent them on their way. They weren't exactly keen on staying in one place for some reason. Probably because they have such wonderful family," She offered Buraimon a polite smile.
"I know you think you're intimidating, but you're not the biggest, baddest bird around, dude," Haru shrugged as if the blade next to her throat was a dull butter knife. "We're a lot quicker than you think, and you won't be able to take out both of us at once. You start something, and even if you take my head off, my sister's Digimon will be on you! And neither one of them will be inclined to help you. Same if you hurt my sister, obviously."
However, Natsu shook her head and stopped her sister from continuing. "No, we're not gonna do this, Haru!" She glared at her sister with tears going down her face. Probably because she was genuinely scared right now. "I'm tired of you constantly trying to gamble with our lives! First it was to see an active volcano that was about to erupt, then all that stupid training that you tried to put us all through! Now you're trying to risk our heads getting cut off, and for what? A couple of homeless kids that we haven't even known for a full day? I'm not gonna play along with this stupid bit!"
"Natsu, don't-"
But Natsu did it anyways as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "Your kids left not too long ago. We offered to give them a place to stay for the night, but they said they had to keep moving. Said they were taking the Trailmon, West to Rustport until they thought of somewhere better they could go."
Haru gave her sister a bewildered expression and shook her head, sighing in defeat. "Yeah. They said something about wanting to be as far from the sea as possible. Though I can't figure out why that would be..."
Hopefully Haru and Natsu's con would be enough to convince the scary turkey samurai to leave. And if not... things would get messy. Both Gabumon and Gaomon were inside with Natsu. Chances were that Buraimon would want to target Haru, who was in a more vulnerable position, given that she was still outside and more easily able to escape. But that was only if Buraimon made a move on Haru. She had both the means and the capability to fend off an attack from the Digimon, even if she didn't look it. Haru had to believe that Natsu could do the same.
Things were certainly dicey, sure, but truth be told?
The sisters wouldn't have it any other way.

The corners of Buraimon's beat curled upwards as he saw the fear present on one of the girl's faces. Despite his pirate crew being disbanded thanks to a certain group of humans and Digimon, it was still nice to know that he still had the knack for scaring the hell out of little children like this. The other identical looking girl wasn't as receptive, refusing to drop her Digivice and saying that they sent the kids away long ago. His grip on his swords tightened in response... The girl didn't stop there, though. She started calling Buraimon out on how he wasn't as intimidating as he thought, though to this he simply chuckled. "If that's true, then that's quite the insult to your sister there for getting scared so easily," Buraimon said. The girl continued on, explaining that their Digimon will be on him if he took her head off like he was threatening to do. But surprisingly, that's when the other girl stepped in, saying they weren't going to do this. Natsu...? Kohaku thought, an uneasy feeling in his stomach forming. What was she doing? Was she going to sell them out? Natsu completely tore into Haru, ranting about how she was tired of her gambling both of their lives, listing off all the incidents where this same thing apparently happened. The Falcomon couldn't believe what he was hearing right now. Kohaku was about to silently shut the door and get Ruri, fully believing that Natsu was going to sell them out and that they would have to run, until he heard Natsu again... heard her say that Kohaku and Ruri were taking the Trailmon to Rustport. Her life is on the line... yet she still chose to protect us... Kohaku almost felt his eyes tear up... no one had ever been that nice to him or Ruri before, and like Natsu said, she hadn't even known them for a whole day. "Hmph..." Buraimon huffed. "At least I got some information out of you. I thank you for that. And as gratitude, your deaths will be as swift and painless as possible." The Buraimon rose up his swords once more. NO! Kohaku's eyes now looking more like his father's. He was not going to get away with this! Before Buraimon could swing his swords, he heard something drop by his feet. Ending his attack, he knelt down and picked it up out of curiosity. It was a metal pin of a chibi Falcomon winking, while making a peace sign with his claws. "What the...?"
"Hehehehehehe..." Kohaku's mischievous-sounding voice could be heard coming from seemingly everywhere in the cabin. Suddenly, an arrow would shoot through one of the open windows right past the Buraimon, the tip of the arrow exploding right by the bird pirate's good eye like a flash bang. "AAAUGH!" Buraimon screamed, holding his eyes in pain as he stepped backwards into the wall, dropping his swords in the process. This would give ample time for Haru and Natsu to either run away or get the upper hand on the Buraimon.

Finding Our Way Home
Welp, turned out the scumbag father was enough of a scumbag that he was going to murder the kids anyways! Both the girls were getting ready to defend themselves while Gabumon and Gaomon charged forward, but what happened first?
What seemed to be an elaborate flashbang trick from Kohaku managed to blind the one-eyed father-of-the-year. The girls held up their Digivice as their charging Digimon grew in size.
"Gabumon! Heat things up!" "Gaomon! Blow him away!"
"Gabumon Digivolve to... Garurumon!" The lizard-turned fully-fledged beast Digimon narrowly fit his body through the cabin doorway as he charged out into the open area.
"Gaomon Digivolve to... Gaogamon!" The beast Digimon charged forward, full speed, the sides of his body breaking through the doorframe as if it were nothing, sending the wood into a flurry of slivers that, thankfully, Garurumon happened to block so his brother's partner wouldn't need a hundred band-aids.
The two beasts moved in tandem with one another, as if they had done it a hundred times, circling the Buraimon. Then Gaogamon suddenly darted towards him, one of his red, scarf-like tendrils balling up into a fist as he threw out a punch that was sure to open up their defenses if it hit!
And just as Gaogamon cleared out of the way, Garurumon opened up his mouth and let loose a quick stream of white-hot flames towards the chicken man. It may not be enough to roast the bird, but it would be enough to make him a tad bit more vulnerable!
And almost as if in giddy anticipation, Gaogamon stepped directly in front of Buraimon, opening up his mouth and let loose a giant vortex of wind towards the bird man Digimon!
((IDK if we're doing combat-stuff, but here's some info just in case)) - Gaogamon uses his Opening Punch, an attack that smacks an enemy and reduces their defense by 50%.
- Garurumon follows it up with Fox Fire Burn, burning his target and halving their defense.
- Gaogamon takes advantage of his passive ability, Combo Doggo, to make an extra attack. So he uses it to use his Spiral Blow attack, a 6-cd attack that ignores defensive abilities, shields, buffs, passives, and all that jazz! If Gaogamon and Garurumon's previous attack hits, it'll do a lot of damage from the decreased defense!
C&D's Fox Fire Burn - 0/1 Duration, 0/1 Cooldown Combo Doggo - 0/3 Cooldown Spiral Blow - 0/6 Cooldown |
[Passive] 1) Quick Doggo - This Digimon is 50% faster than the average mon, but his attack is about 20% less than average.
[Active] 4) Fox Fire Burn - Unleashes a quick burst of white-hot flames to burn the enemy real good. The enemy takes double damage for 1 post. Duration: 1 Post Cooldown: 1 Post
[Passive] 1) Combo Doggo - This Digimon can make use an additional named ability this turn. Cooldown: 3 Posts
[Passive] 2) Hittin' Em' Where It Hurts - Knowing all the right places to hit, this Digimon's attacks ignore any passive ability that would prevent or reduce their damage.
[Active] 3) Spiral Blow - Fires out a powerful current of wind that tears apart the target's data structure. Ignores defenses. Cooldown: 6 Posts

Kohaku's intervention was a success! With Buraimon temporarily blinded, that gave Haru and Natsu the chance to Digivolve Gabumon and Gaomon to their champion forms, now taking the fight outside of the cabin (after Gaogamon destroyed the door frame trying to get outside, whoops.) Once Buraimon got his sight back, the first thing he would see was Gaogamon charging forward and delivering a scarf punch to the face to the chicken samurai, which definitely caused his guard to lower a little. "Augh! Damn you, stupid dog-" Buraimon tried to say before he was blasted by Garurumon's fire attack, which scorched the pirate even with him holding his arms up to at least try and defend himself from the attack. Two attacks like that in such quick succession... Buraimon was both impressed and severely pissed off. But the worst was yet to come. He looked back up to see Gaogamon up close once again, this time preparing a wind-based attack from his mouth. Buraimon could sense that this attack would be powerful. Well, the chicken wasn't going to go out that easily. Using the hilts of his swords, he would dash downwards and force Gaogamon's chin upwards, essentially forcing him to launch the Spiral Blow straight up into the sky. "I tire of fighting you," Buraimon growled as he got back up behind Gaogamon. "I came here to see my children, and frankly I'm sick of being lied to. Where. IS. KOHAKU?"
"Right here, old man," Kohaku's voice could be heard from behind the group. The moment Buraimon would turn around, he would get a face full of Boxing Glove Arrow, courtesy of the Falcomon in question, that would knock the chicken right back down again. From there was where the twins could see Kohaku standing in the broken doorway, this time wielding a really fancy and powerful looking archer's bow, something he definitely didn't have up to this point. "...you were always fond of that arrow, weren't you, Kohaku?" Buraimon said as he picked himself up, rubbing the spot on his face where he got hit. "You know me too well. Didn't you have two eyes when we last met? Or did you lose it when you lost your ship and most of your crew thanks to those adventurers?"
Buraimon growled. "So you heard... I could ask the same for the old fool you and Ruri were living with. Is it true? Is he truly gone?"
"...yes. He is." Kohaku's expression grew angrier as he answered his father. "What are you doing here? We made it very clear that we want nothing to do with you anymore."
"Heheh... surely you two can't survive on your own quite yet without parental supervision," Buraimon countered. "I've seen you and Ruri travel all that time. You were both struggling to survive, and if you hadn't been seen by these... humans, you would've surely perished there on the street. You and Ruri are ready to join my crew. Together, we can build a pirate crew the likes of which the Digital World has never seen. We'll be rich beyond our wildest dreams, and you'll never have to worry about you or Ruri starving ever again."
"Like we've said before, our answer is NO, Father! We're not about to become dirty, no-good pirates like you!"
"What else do you have, then?! Face it, you and Ruri have no outside world knowledge. It's a miracle you weren't killed before you got here! You won't have that outhouse you call a home in Whitewater for very long without Bits. And these humans aren't going to shelter you forever, boy. You have no other choice... make this easy on all of us. Go get Ruri and then come with me."

Finding Our Way Home
Haru frowned as Gaogamon's big attack went to waste. Even so, they got a couple of hits in. Plus, seeing Kohaku's Punchy Arrow was pretty damned funny. Oh, but this was the time for violence, so she had to keep up a serious face.
Of course, a little after all that, things would begin to get... talky. The Buraimon started trying to convince his kids to join up in his pirate crew, to no avail, obviously. "What kind of idiot would wanna become a pirate...?" Haru muttered under her breath, as a pink-haired girl would sneeze somewhere else in the Digital World.
"A bird archer... I guess you'd never have a shortage of fletching," Natsu stated as father and son had their family spat. Things seemed to be winding down, when Haru raised her hand.
"So... I know I'm not supposed to interrupt a family issue, but... I don't really care anymore," Haru began with a deadpan tone and expression, almost as if she seemed bored at this point. "You're like... going to get your ass beat if you don't leave, so there's no point to continuing this conversation. Plus, your kids can stay here as long as they like. Forever, if they want. So it's not like they have nowhere to go."
"Plus, we still have quite a bit of money left over from Haru's, umm..." Garurumon wasn't sure how to put it.
But Natsu could summarize it well enough! "Basically, we're loaded. So if it's bits that they need, we can just loan it to them, and they can just pay us back whenever and however. Like with archery lessons, for example!"
"Yes!" Garurumon confirmed. "So there is no need for you to be involved in your children's lives anymore, Mr. Buraimon!" Despite his respectful words, there was a clear condescending undertone. "Besides, you only seem to be getting back in touch with your children out of desperation."
"What a loser!" Haru mocked, giving the bird man Digimon a demeaning grin. "Guy gets his whole crew wasted, and tries to restart with his own kids who don't even want anything to do with him!" She let out a laugh that was a little more loud than it needed to be before adding, "News flash, dude, stupid choices the one you're making right now is why you're so desperate. You don't need a new crew; you need to quit being a pirate and become a security guard. I think I know this old typewriter store that'll hire just about anyone, if you're interested! But first..."
"...we're gonna beat your ass!" Gaogamon cried out, charging forward once again. He leaped forward, both of his claws extended, going in for a swipe as he passed Buraimon by.
And as Gaogamon went for a quick an easy claw attack, Garurumon used this opportunity to cloak himself in a blue flame, then in a blazing trail of flame, crash into the chicken man moving nigh-instantaneously.
((I'm basically just using your character's dad as a punching bag to test out their movesets. Hope you don't mind lol))
- Because Garurumon hit Buraimon with his Fox Fire Burn last post, his passive, Pack Tactics, triggers. This will increase Fox Fire Burn's cooldown and reduce the cooldown of his brother's Spiral Blow by 1.
- Haru mocks Buraimon with her Facts and Logic ability, which makes the opponent realize why they suck so much. Also, she's basically goading Buraimon into attacking her.
- Gaogamon uses his Dash Claw ability to make a quick swipe at Buraimon and hopefully refresh one of his cooldowns a little.
- Garurumon uses his Fox Fire Boost, doubling his already increased speed, which then allows him to use his Fox Fire Star ability, which is a charging attack that deals damage based off of his increased speed, rather than his attack.
C&D's
Fox Fire Burn - 1/2 Cooldown Fox Fire Boost - 0/1 Duration, 0/3 Cooldown Fox Fire Star - 0/2 Cooldown Combo Doggo - 1/3 Cooldown Opening Punch - 0/1 Cooldown Spiral Blow - 2/6 Cooldown Dash Claw - 0/1 Cooldown
|
[Passive] RU-T+) Pack Tactics - Once per turn, whenever this Digimon hits an opponent with a named ability, they can increase that move's cooldown by 1 to decrease an active cooldown of either their own or their sibling's by 1. Neither twin can receive this benefit more than once per turn.
[Passive] 1) Quick Doggo - This Digimon is 50% faster than the average mon, but his attack is about 20% less than average.
[Active] RU1) Fox Fire Boost - Uses his blue flames to propel himself towards an enemy. His speed is doubled, and he's able to use another named ability this turn, so long as it's cooldown is no higher than 2. Duration: 1 Post Cooldown: 3 Posts
[Active] RU2) Fox Fire Star - Cloaks himself in blue flames, striking at the enemy with the blades of fur on his back. This move's damage ignores his attack strength, and its damage is instead amplified by his speed increases, so if he's immobilized, this move does nothing. Cooldown: 2 Posts
[Passive] 2) Hittin' Em' Where It Hurts - Knowing all the right places to hit, this Digimon's attacks ignore any passive ability that would prevent or reduce their damage.
[Active] RU1) Dash Claw - A quick strike with the claw. Only deals about as much as a basic attack, but refreshes one active cooldown by 1. Cooldown: 1 Post

After Kohaku and Buraimon had finished their spat, it was Haru who would speak up next. She claimed that Buraimon was gonna get his ass beat no matter what he does, but also that the kids could stay with them for as long as they'd like. Clearly, that stunned both the father and the son. "What?"
That wasn't the end of it though. More taunting was thrown the Buraimon's way, calling him out on the fact that he only sought out his own children out of desperation than anything else. The samurai chicken could feel his eye twitching at that point. Haru continued taunting Buraimon even more, saying his stupid decisions were why he was desperate, suggesting he become a security guard instead.
"As if I'd ever become a pig like THAT!" Buraimon growled. The Gaogamon was coming right at him with a quick swipe attack towards the avian swordsman. At that point, Buraimon was angry enough to nope that option right then and there. As soon as Gaogamon was in range, Buraimon thrusted one of his swords right into the dog's chest. It would be far from a fatal injury, but it would still hurt like hell.
Afterwards, he would pull his sword out of Gaogamon's chest, immediately turning around to find the Garurumon charging right at him, covered in blue flames. No matter. He would simply flap his wings to give him a boost into the air to dodge the attack, and with any luck Garurumon wouldn't be able to stop and crash into a boulder or something.
"Father, you have to stop this!" Kohaku yelled. "These humans, they were simply giving Ruri and I food and shelter, they don't deserve any of this senseless violence!"
"That's the difference between you and I, Kohaku," Buraimon said in a menacing tone. "You're perfectly fine with being cooped up in a crappy shack in the middle of the woods, or some beach house in Whitewater never to see the sights beyond the ocean. I broke free from the chains of morality and laws. I am free to do whatever my core desires, not bound by any of that nonsense. All I wish is to bless my children with the same gift. Is that so terribly wrong?"
"Being free does not exempt you from consequence," A sudden voice would say before Buraimon is suddenly struck by a flying energy attack in the shape of an X, knocking the swordsbird off his feet. As he got up, he would see a very familiar looking duo: a little girl with blonde hair, similar in age to the twins wearing what would be known as Knights of the Rose armor, and at her side a black-feathered bird man with purple armor and golden swords. Haru and Natsu would DEFINITELY recognize this pair...
"I recognize you..." Buraimon growled. "You were there when my crew was defeated... and you, Karatenmon-"
"You didn't need that eye, anyways," Hawkeye countered before his opponent could finish.
"Where did you even find me, anyways?"
"Simple; there were mutterings of a shady-looking Digimon that came through here... the same way that a carriage went after picking up a couple of struggling Digimon kids."
"And judging by the damage, we were right to come here." Buraimon stabs Gaogamon with his sword before dodging Garurumon's "Fox Fire Star," only to be hit by Hawkeye's "Ki-Blade"
Moves Ki-Blade: Karatenmon's swords charge with energy as he slashes his swords in an X-formation, sending the X-shaped energy wave right towards the opponent. Cooldown is one post.

Finding Our Way Home
Things were looking to be gruesome as Buraimon proved that he had at least a little skill as he countered Gaogamon and Garurumon's combo play. Sinking his sword into Gaogamon's chest, the beast Digimon would find his claw not quite reaching his opponent. So he decided that even if there was a sword currently in him, he'd just lean forward just a little bit more! Gritting his teeth as he was in no doubt absolutely excruciating pain, Gaogamon managed to get close enough to give the bird man a nice scratching!
As for Garurumon's attack... it didn't fare quite as well. Despite Garurumon charging in at three times his normal speed, his opponent managed to get lucky and dodge his strongest combo that he trained really hard to master. It was a little disheartening, really, plus there was a boulder in Garurumon's path! Sadly for Buraimon, Garurumon wasn't as... intellectually underdeveloped as his brother! Garurumon spun around using the flames propelling him forward to slow his charge, then all four feet planted safely onto the boulder, which the beast Digimon used to jump off from and run back towards his opponent!
But before either of them had the chance to attack, Buraimon would find himself under attack by yet another Digimon, another bird mon! And with... was that Kaya?
"Yo, Matsui!" Haru greeted the girl, waving to her as if they weren't in the middle of a life-threatening encounter. Then she noticed her outfit as Haru winced at it. "What's with that getup, tho? It looks kinda... ren-fair."
"Then the Karatenmon must be Hawkeye!" Natsu added, still keeping an eye on the battle, but definitely seeming to be more relieved. But wonderful reunions would have to wait! There were doggos that were trying to do things!
Like Gaogamon, reaching forward with his large red, scarf-like appendages and tried to grab the samurai pirate, attempting to hold him in place and prevent him from moving around. Meanwhile, Garurumon would run up behind Buraimon and attempt to sink his fangs into his opponent! Except... this guy was truly a bad person! Which meant that Garurumon had to think like Haru did, and try to bite him in a naughty place because that's what would make him feel embarrassed!
So the Garurumon decided to bite down towards the Buraimon's behind, and if it hit, it would no doubt be so devastating that Buraimon's attack strength would be halved! Hopefully this attack would hit! Gaogamon was trying to pin him down, and besides, the Buraimon seemed kind of distracted now that the other bird guy showed up!
- Gaogamon's Dash Claw hit, so its effect will reduce Spiral Blow's cooldown by 1. Also, due to Gaogamon's Pack Tactics, Spiral Blow's cooldown will be reduced by 1 more by increasing Dash Claw's cooldown by 1
- Gaogamon uses his Grapple Claw to attempt to immobilize Buraimon from moving around and dodging attacks and whatnot.
- Garurumon tries to bite down on his opponent with his Wolf Fang. If it hits, Buraimon's attack is reduced by half during his next turn.

Surprisingly, despite having a sword in his chest, Gaogamon still attempted to push forward even more, despite the undoubtedly agonizing pain the blue wolf 'mon would be experiencing for such an action. And for what purpose? To scratch Buraimon, of course! While Gaogamon would be successful in scratching his face, Buraimon simply took it, barely reacting to the scratch despite it doing the normal amount of damage. "Pathetic," Buraimon growled as he threw Gaogamon into a nearby tree with his sword.
Meanwhile, Garurumon had managed to turn the missed chance into a great maneuver. With the oncoming boulder. Garurumon managed to spin himself around and push off against the boulder with all fours, before running back towards his opponent. This is where the glowing X energy came in and interrupted everyone's thunder.
As Kaya and Hawkeye arrived, they heard a very familiar voice calling out to them. They looked over to see Haru and Natsu Fujisaki, two classmates of Kaya that she knew were Tamers themselves. "Haru? Natsu? Stay away from that Buraimon, he's dangerous!" Kaya called out, choosing to ignore the ren-fair question.
However, Kaya and Hawkeye would also notice another familiar face. A Falcomon with a special archer's bow. "Kohaku? Is that you?"
"You're from the Archipelago..." Kohaku muttered, before looking back towards his father. "They're the ones who destroyed your crew, Father?!"
"Aye, them an' a few others..."
"Father?!" Well, it seemed like quite a few revelations were being dropped all at once here! But there was a time for all of that, and right now was most certainly not the time as Gaogamon used his scarf to wrap up Buraimon to the point where he couldn't move. This would give Kaya an ample chance to speak to the pirate. "Well, you can add another assault charge, mister. Not to mention all the other accounts you're wanted for. We're gonna be taking you to Vander Tower where you will stay until Terminus law enforcement comes to pick you up."
"Eh? You aren't crying for mommy and daddy like you did in that cell?" Buraimon asked with a cruel smirk, clearly angering Kaya as he began to mock her. "'I want my mom, I want my mommy~! Gods, how pathetic you sounded... and now you're a Knight of the Rose? They'll accept anybody these days."
Kaya had to admit... she was on the brink of tears right now. All that Buraimon was saying was true... she did cry like that when she was captured. She did call for mommy... she was definitely pathetic. "I-"
CHOMP! "AAAAAAAAAAAUGH!"
Before Kaya even got the chance to speak, Garurumon came from behind and bit Buraimon in the behind, causing him to scream from pain and for him to look pretty damn stupid right about now! Kohaku was the first to laugh at his father's misfortune, followed by Kaya and then even Hawkeye!
Buraimon growled in anger, humiliated and surrounded by laughter... he grabbed his swords and did a spin technique, throwing Garurumon off and freeing himself from Gaogamon's scarf. "This isn't over!" Buraimon declared before taking off to the sky, leaving the rest of the group behind.
"Good riddance," Kohaku sighed as he put his bow away, and Hawkeye devolved back into a regular Hawkmon. How were the twins and their Digimon feeling about all of this...?

Finding Our Way Home...
With Kaya and Hawkeye's arrival, things looked even worse for the sole, one-eyed chicken pirate. And yet, oddly enough, the guy kept talking like he was actually winning the fight. Pretty pathetic, really.
Still, Kaya advised the girls to stay away from the enemy. "Who? That guy?" Haru asked, pointing towards the Buraimon in question. She really didn't see how he was so dangerous. He seemed good at avoiding attacks, but really... didn't do anything threatening except talk about how strong and threatening he was. And Haru was already used to that with Natsu's mutt of a partner. "I think 'dangerous' is a pretty strong word for this guy. Maybe... mildly irritating?" Sure, he stabbed Gaogamon pretty good, but Haru also managed to slap the dog Digimon down the first time she met him, and she didn't even have any idea what a Digimon was at that point.
Still, it seemed that Kaya and the Buraimon had some kind of history. One that didn't seem so pleasant, looking at Kaya. Thankfully, Garurumon managed to give the enemy his comeuppance, to a degree, but he managed to get away in the end.
"Hey, Kentucky-Fried-Douchebag!" Haru called out as he flew away like a coward. She put her hands up and held out a finger in each hand that was most unladylike. "I got some birds for your pirate crew right here! Why don't ya come back down and get a closer look?" Sadly, the taunt didn't work as Buraimon flew off.
"I also have birds to give you!" Garurumon called out, trotting over towards Haru once he recovered.
"Gabumon, you gotta be holding up these fingers right here if you're gonna say that, or it doesn't work!" Haru explained towards the Gabumon who was not currently a Gabumon.
"But that's not fair, Haru!" Garurumon countered. "I can't do that while in this form!"
Victory was achieved, and it looked like Haru didn't seem the least bit bothered by it. If anything, it seemed like she rather enjoyed the debacle that had occurred.
Natsu, though? As soon as the fight was finished and Buraimon was out of sight, the girl's legs practically melted as she slumped down to her knees. Everything around her became blurry as tears started pouring out of her eyes and her breathing became irregular.
"Natsumi!" Gaogamon moved over towards his partner, devolving back into Gaomon and grabbing the girl's shoulders. "Are you hurt? Who did this to you!? I'll beat the crap out of whoever's still he-"
Natsu cut her partner off by poking him in the chest, right where he had a sword put into him. The Gaomon clammed up as he stifled the pain, gritting his teeth and tightening up.
"I'm fine, stupid!" She answered through her tears. "You're the one who's hurt. What were you thinking, just pressing in after he got you like that?" Gaomon tilted his head in confusion before answering.
"Well... he has to get close to stab me, so if he's stabbing me, then that means he's close. And I really wanted to hit him! That, and..." The dog Digimon looked away coyly. "Well... if one of his swords is sticking out of me, then that means that there's one less sword sticking in somebody else..."
"I swear, sometimes you're just as bad as..." Actually, it would probably just make both Gaomon and Haru angry if she compared the two.
"If I knew it would make you this upset though, I wouldn't have done it. And I won't try something like that again," He declared, a firm resolution within his voice.
"You better not! I don't know what I'd do if you got hu-"
"I'll train hard next time so the next time we fight him, I'll catch his blades with nothing but my teeth! That way I can stop his blades, and attack him!"
Natsu knelt there in stunned silence before bursting into a fit of giggles. "Oh my god, you can be so dumb!" She pulled the Gaomon into a hug while the dog Digimon did his very best to try and fail to look comfortable with it.
And with that going down, Haru just kind of hovered around, feeling awkward. It wasn't like there was anything she could say to Natsu that Natsu wouldn't already know. Hell, Natsu probably knew better than Haru in that regard. So she moved over to Kaya and Hawkeye. "So... Knight of the Rose? That's basically a cop, right?" A look of faux-horror met her eyes as she dramatically took a step back. "Wait... you're not here to arrest me for..." She stopped herself from talking. "...Umm... things that I definitely didn't do? Because I don't know what those Impmon might've told you, but they've got a long history of making stuff up!"
