"That's exactly the point Poseidon. I can get human comics from anywhere. Thousands of them, endless seas of human comic stories. What I want to find is Digimon comics. How Digimon would use the medium of sequential art to tell their own stories." Zack said, smiling as Marigold came down, bumping a heavy bag off of the walls as it swayed from her legs as she carried it through the air before dumping it onto the table.
"Yea, and besides, sometimes you just have to go on an adventure!" Marigold said, visibly energized by the prospect. The hunt for a digimon comic book was just a bonding experience that the two of them could share, something father and daughter could do between themselves that would take them interesting places to see interesting things. Even if they never found the exact thing that they were looking for it would keep them close.
"Don't you two ever just do something for the sake of it? Try a new food you've never heard of. Play a game you've never seen. Pop your head into a museum just to see what inside." He said. he placed a premium on bonding time with his daughter after all, he never wanted to be too busy for her, not even for a second so finding new things for the two of them to do was always important and gave them something new to laugh about with each other.

"Okay fair enough. You can get human comics from almost anywhere. Though I don't know much about digimon forms of art there still is a chance digimon make comics since digimon and humans do many of the same things." Poseidon said as the sound of Marigold carrying a heavy bag was heard bumping off the walls making Poseidon hope nothing was fragile in that bag as it was dumped on the table in his sight.
Poseidon somehow felt energized by Marigold's excitement but knew his Dad was far from up for such a thing as he glanced at the quiet Angemon who was his father before turning to look back at Zack and Marigold when Zack asked about them adventuring for the sake of it. "Well. Yeah of course we do but Dad always says it is some form of training even when we eat at a restaurant or he and I play with the children of a village. With some of his training sessions I can see it but when we go swimming with no digimon nearby, I don't see it since Dad rarely gets in the water. Something about not enjoying getting his wings wet." Poseidon answered. Sure he and his dad had their fare share of bonding time that didn't involve life threatening situations and the young Gomamon appreciated that very much.

"Not to undermine or anything, folks but I'm getting the impression that your father is calling things training just so that he doesn't have to admit his real reasons." Zack said, leaning back against the table behind him and grinning from ear to ear. Poseidon might be fooled by the "everything is training" idea for a little while longer but Zack, as a fellow parent, was able to see right through that kind of thing. Sometimes you just wanted to have a good time with your kid without letting on that it wasn't exactly as educational an experience as usual.
"Dad used to do that with me too. He'd say that everything we did was part of my education. Eventually I got smart enough to realize that most of the time it's just because it was a cool thing one or both of us wanted to do that we ended up doing most things. Training can come from anywhere but it's sorta hard to see the educational value in getting a balloon from a store mascot character just because they don't do that sort of thing where my dad is from." Marigold said. Zack simply shrugged, not denying any of what she was saying. He was a long way from home in the prime of his life, it would have been a waste for him to not go out with the intention of seeking new experiences.

"Looks like they've seen through me. Yes some of it is training. Though throughout life one just practices various things they learn till they become habit." Alucard said with the faintest hint of amusement on his face that could easily be missed even if one was paying close attention. Seemed to be something the Angemon had practiced but the occasional person could cause him to break his façade as the aloof loner type with little to no emotion.
Seemingly missing his father's faint look of amusement, either that or he was just playing along, who knew at this point? Poseidon then looked at Marigold as she talked about how her father got her to do some things on the basis of it being for education much like Alucard did and after thinking on it some more he said "Maybe they were trying to make the learning process fun. Don't get me wrong it seems to of worked well for both of our families. Though snatching a balloon from a store mascot seems not a very superhero thing to do. Maybe he was having you play the villain to help you learn empathy or something. I don't know."

"Wha...no, Poseidon..." Zack said, chuckling and shaking his head, rolling his eyes a little bit in amusement at the little seal's misunderstanding. "In Japan it's common for stores to hire people in mascot costumes to hand out fliers or treats or balloons or something to advertise their store or their product. That's not really a thing where I'm from so I thought it would be fun to go down to a store having such an event to get a balloon. I wasn't stealing a balloon from them, I was taking a free balloon being offered." He said, smiling. he didn't want to make the little seal feel stupid for the correction so he tried to put a positive spin on it, he was training to be a teacher after all.
"Balloons are fun, especially in Puroromon form where I can hold on to the string and steer it with my wings like a mini hot air balloon." Marigold said, laughing slightly. Sometimes the tinier forms were fun to be in for a while, the world had a lot of hidden fun when you were tiny enough to make even the littlest things in big things by comparison.

Alucard couldn't help but release an amused smirk at Poseidon't innocent misunderstanding but other than that his mirth didn't show in any other way. Poseidon blinked at his mistake and chuckled after Zack corrected the young Gomamon before he said "Oops. I guess I can chalk this up to another cultural misunderstanding digimon are known for regarding human interaction. It was pretty funny wasn't it. It is cool humans sometimes hand out balloons to advertise though. Maybe some digimon establishments do the same and I just haven't seen it yet."
"Yeah I can see how balloons could be more fun when you have wings or can otherwise fly. The closest I've ever had to wings were the flippers I've had as Bukamon. Though I've never floated on a balloon with my flippers before. Maybe I'll try it one day since all digimon can dedigivolve to weaker forms." Then he looked at his smirking father and asked Hey, Dad. What do you think?"
"Sure I can get you a balloon when we come across a balloon vendor but if it is in the Human World you'd have to wait till were out of sight of humans of course."
Smiling Poseidon replied "Of course."

"Well actually..." Zack said, smiling to himself and walking to one of the closets, pulling out a bag of balloons and a tank full of helium to use them with. "I brought these into the Digital World to hang up around the shelter on nicer days, bring some people in to take a peak, get the word out through word of mouth, you feel me?" He said, picking out a large yellow balloon and attaching it to the mouth of the helium tube before opening the valve, the hiss of the light gas filling the balloon up quickly.
"We try to keep things approachable and colorful around here. We realize that, in the digital world especially, a manor house hidden in the valley between four hills just screams "something isn't right here" to most people." Marigold said, looking around. Even with all the work that had been done to fix the place up there were still a few squeaky boards out of place or water stains along the further walls. "I want to get some fun posters or something to hang up on the wall, maybe some paintings or something. Throw down some rugs, get some speakers to play music out of. Make it much more inviting." She said, imagining the eventual fully realized shelter in her mind's eye as Zack tie the balloon off with a string and handed it to Poseidon.

Poseidon watched as Zack brought out the balloon as well as a helium tank his antenna like ears perked up. Alucard grinned at his son's childlike wonder since before he was raising Poseidon he had almost forgotten the wonder and curiosity that came with being a child and despite the horrors Poseidon had seen he was able to maintain that childlike awe and wonder.
Alucard then looked at Marigold as she mentioned her ideas for improvement of the manor and the Angemon then said "Perhaps also having the outside painted in an age neutral but still welcoming color scheme to make the place not only look professional but more welcoming."
"Those decorations for the inside that you mentioned would be nice too, Marigold. It would give the place some more character." Poseidon said to Marigold but kept his attention on the balloon as Zack tied it off and handed it to him. He reared up and reached out with the claws on his flippers taking hold of the balloon while dedigivolving back into Bukamon. Like his rookie form there was a familiar holy ring around his neck.
Smiling Poseidon wrapped one of his wing like flippers around the string and began flying around the room the balloon being tugged along with the excited and playful youngster.

Marigold shot Zack a look and bounced slightly in place. Zack rolled his eyes and grinned, blowing her up a balloon in that same shade of yellow and handing it to her, tied off with the same glimmering string. She digivolved down and began buzzing about the room, chasing Poseidon and bouncing their balloons off of one another in mid air like bumper cars, giggling all the while.
Zack sat down next to Alucard, pulling out his old film camera. it wasn't nearly as high definition as a digital camera but there were no computerized parts for the Digital World to screw with as he clicked the button twice in quick succession, pulling a polaroid out of the front of the camera each time. He handed onto to Alucard, the image of both of their grinning children bouncing back and forth in the air.
"Keep that. It's good for your soul." Zack said, handing over the picture to Alucard of their two children playing in the air as he slipped his copy taken a second later into the front cover of the album he had brought out to be put into its natural place at some later time. He leaned back in his seat, crossing one legs over the other and just watching the children at play.

Alucard watched as Zack brought out another balloon for Marigold as she looked pretty excited and also inflated it. Then Marigold dedigivolved to her in training form and took hold of her balloon and begun chasing Poseidon around the room bouncing her balloon off of the Bukamon before he giggled and did it in return. It was beginning to look like an ariel game of bumper cars with the two youngsters seemingly enjoying their play.
Meanwhile Zack had pulled out his old film camera which made sense given how nasty the Digital World was with Human World electronics. Only digital equipment built in the Digital World seemed to not suffer such a fate and would even work with Human World SD cards. Alucard then watched as Zack set down next to him and took two pictures of them. Holding out one to Alucard the Angemon reached out to accept it.
Alucard continued to watch Zack as he slipped the other picture into his album. Perhaps Marigold wouldn't find this picture embarrassing at least. Then he looked back up watching the children play the young ones' squeals of laughter filling the room. "It's hard to believe I was once that innocent. Poseidon is a lot like me in many ways but still has his childlike innocence somehow. You can see why I work so hard to protect something like that."

"They're both grow up eventually. More's the pity." Zack said, leaning forward, knees against his chest as he watched the two bump and flutter around the room, lamenting the need for either of them to gain so called "maturity". "Best we can do is help them maintain the core of that innocence. The idealism and hope that makes it tick, even if we can't protect the innocence itself for that much longer." He said, just watching Marigold swirl around and around in the air, trying not to let himself get too misty eyed. Her "childhood" had been all but stolen from her by the circumstances of her vile abandonment by the digimon giving birth to her, being able to give her some of that innocence, fun and safety bac was one of the hills that he would always die on, given the choice. "One of the things that should scare us the most is the fact that they're most likely going to grow up into...us." Zack said, sharing a glance with the monster hunter. It wouldn't be hard to imagine, he figured both of them imagined it plenty on their own time. Poseidon tracking monsters to the ends of the earth as Marigold stands between innocent people and the criminal chaos common to the digital and real worlds. "We can...we can only hope that we help them to steer clear of our mistakes, that when they grow into our shoes that the world won't even remember out names...they'll be too busy praising theirs." He said, taking some slight solace in the idea of Marigold becoming a better hero than he had ever been or ever could be.

"Shows how growing up at times can be considered overrated." Alucard said in a seemingly knowing way as he watched the two of them in their play looking rather happy at just being able to play. For Poseidon it wasn't always an everyday occurrence since between traveling, training, and educating him their wasn't always time but both enjoyed the prospect of entering quiet villages and if there were children Poseidon would go and play with them while Alucard would watch while not minding being used as a jungle gym by happy children. Perhaps this was why he loved children so much despite at times worrying if he was being a good enough father. "Regarding their innocence, you have a point. Despite being strong enough to defend themselves they deserve the chance to be the children they are." When Zack said that Poseidon and Marigold would likely grow up into us, Alucard chuckled, actually chuckled, before the vampire hunter said "Yeah. They probably will but with luck they will grow up to be better versions of us." Alucard also pictured his son hunting vampires that threatened the innocent and then pictured Marigold patrolling for the criminal element before bringing them down. Both were using the tricks they were taught by their respective parents in the imagined images. "Yes that is indeed the best we can hope for. Yet when it comes to heirs to our causes we have been lucky to find two children with not only kind hearts but the emotional strength to do the best they can to do the right thing."

"You're damn right growing up is overrated. It's why I never bothered." Zack agreed, grinning at the self deprecation. He never strove to be outwardly mature, whatever the hell that was supposed to mean. He did what he did and enjoyed what he enjoyed. He cried when it hurt, smiled when he was happy and laughed when he found something funny. What the hell did he need maturity for anyway? "I...I curse her "mother" every day for stealing some of that innocence away from her. Taking a chunk of her safety and security before she even had a chance to hold onto it." Zack said, becoming a little bit grave as he watched Marigold and Poseidon at play, still smiling and waving when she looked over like a parent standing outside of a rollercoaster. "I had all these plans of what I would tell that monster when we finally came face to face, all these dark impulses of what I would do to them. The thing...the thing that horrified me is that Marigold was holding onto so much more than I ever could have." Zack said, flashing back to that moment, just outside of what was now the shelter, Marigold standing above her "mother" with claws gleaming, ready to do something that she couldn't take back. "I thought I was angry. But heaven help me if I will ever forget the pure rage that was in Marigold's eyes in that moment. It still chills me to the bone to know that she's even capable of that. It feels so stupid now, to think I was going to unleash this righteous anger on that woman when Marigold's pain was so much deeper, her scars still so fresh." Zack said, sending up a silent thanks that he had been able to talk Marigold down from that violent revenge in the moment.

"Humans have a saying that goes something like this.... Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. No truer words are there than those. Just because tragedy caused me to grow up much faster than I should of I can try to make sure the same doesn't happen to Poseidon before he is ready." Alucard said as he noticed Poseidon zig zag in mid air before increasing his pace as he pursued Marigold all while laughing.
Marigold's "mother" never deserved her judging by what you've said. If she cared even the slightest about her child she would of given her up for adoption if she couldn't or wouldn't raise her herself." Alucard said his normally cold voice taking on an even colder tone as he began to feel a sense of rage. Given his natural protectiveness towards children he felt for Marigold considering how much the little one had suffered at the Flymon that abandoned her. Poseidon looked briefly down at his father and, like Zack, acknowledged his son but only with a nod. Acknowledgement received Poseidon went back to playing.
Alucard listened as Zack continued talking mentioning the anger the human felt when he met Flymon but felt chills when he saw his daughter's rage before the Angemon finally said "I can see why you spoke so passionately earlier when I mentioned my desire for revenge. I know I shouldn't of taken my rage on you when you were only trying to help in your own way."

"Marigold's..."mother" was the kind of mundane monster that spreads an insidious kind of poison. Strong enough to take what they please but too weak or small to make the people on top care." He said, looking across the walls of the manor that that "woman" had left for them, even if it wasn't exactly intentionally willed to the pair. "Her drones would buzz in, ruin the lives of a couple of the little people and then be gone before they became too much of a nuisance to ignore. Apathy was their greatest weapon, callousness became camouflage." He said, drumming the finger son one hand against his upper arm. Steadying himself as he watched Marigold and Poseidon chase one another around in alternating circles, the kind of impromptu game without rules that children seemed to generate when left to themselves the same way that two magnets left unattended created a charge. "She could have been quashed in an afternoon if enough people had enough care for each other to stand up to her. But they all passed it off as "not my problem", the sort of thing that you hear about over the grapevine, the sort of thing that only happens to somebody else. The most dangerous mentality in either world is "well, at least it didn't happen to me." He said, silently cursing the apathy that some digimon and equally some people seemed to use as a shield to protect them from having to care about each other.
