Alucard nodded in agreement with Zack's words before he said "This is why they tend to be insufferable to deal with. Instead of sharing their knowledge with those who don't understand, they spew their ignorance like the foulest bile from their mouths. Zack is right about knowledge being important, Poseidon. Knowledge of any kind no matter how small can be beneficial to others."
"You might not be the most social able digimon I've ever known, Dad, but at least you aren't like these people. You have spent time sharing your knowledge of how to deal with vampires with me. Though I'm shocked you don't teach other kids this stuff since you really like kids." Poseidon said after listening to Zack and Alucard for a bit.
Alucard looked at the clothes in his hand nodding as he finished looking them over before looking back up at Zack and Marigold before he said "Your daughter does indeed have talent. She could easily of been a tailor as a profession if she can restore clothes no matter what shape they end up in."
"That's a pretty cool coat, Zack. Let me guess she made that, didn't she?" Poseidon said looking over the black and bronze jacket in awe.

"For people like that it's not about sharing knowledge, it's about hording it. It's like gold, gems or pearls, another rare status symbol that they can wear around to get that gleam in their eyes when they look down on people. Knowledge is meant to be shared. An ignorant man is a poor man indeed." he said, shaking his head and sighing. Evidently he'd had more than one run in with this toxic kind of know it all to be able to describe them so perfectly from memory, even if he was being more than a tad bit venomous himself. "You've got that right, my daughter has more talent than I can shake a stick at. Makes parents like us wonder where the hell they got it from, cause they certainly didn't get it from us." He said, grinning and winking to Alucard as he pulled the jacket over his shoulders in a fluid, practiced, snappy motion. Striking a subtle pose as he poked and ribbed Alucard at the nature of knowing that your child is always going to grow up smarter than you.
"My father's costume is some of my best work if I do say so myself. Granted it's more of an alteration of a jacket he already owned but the colors, the protective layers stitched in, the logo on the right side of his chest and the back of it, all me." She said, letting herself be a tad prideful for a little while as she pointed out the bumblebee logo on her father's right breast and along the back of his coat, like the gang logo on a biker jacket, an ironic and intentional juxtaposition for someone who so eagerly fought gangs who would wear something exactly like it.

"Sounds like folks like that who horde knowledge like it is money are truly the poor ones. They sound like they are truly far more ignorant than the people they snobbily look down on. Sad isn't it?" Poseidon said catching Zack tone along with the human's sigh. Poseidon wasn't sure how he himself would deal with people like that.
"Your daughter is indeed quite talented as well as intelligent but as for Poseidon the only anomaly I can think of is that his personality is so different than my own. Then again if I hadn't witnessed NeoMyotismon's actions that one night maybe I would of been more like my son. Despite the dark things he has son he somehow has remained pure and innocent and I have no idea why." Alucard said causing Poseidon to look at the Angemon that was his father. His father's cold tone carried a depressed vibe to it that most would not notice if not for Alucard's uninjured wings drooping. To say Poseidon didn't know what to say was an understatement.
When Marigold then spoke again Alucard and Poseidon looked at her before Poseidon then said "The alterations in that jacket are pretty cool, Marigold." Poseidon was hoping to direct the conversation away from a depressing direction his dad risked sending it from his last couple of sentences.

"We all have some of that innocence inside. Best that we don't lose sight of it too soon." Zack said, one of those surprising little meditations that sometimes came out of the man when someone was getting a little too used to him as the overeager dork. Almost as if his own subconscious didn't want people pigeonholing him as TOO goofy or simplistic.
"You're darn right they're cool. God knows I've had enough time to make them look as nice as possible considering I've had to redo them like sixty eight thousand times. That jacket is like the Ship of Theseus, I don't think any of the original material is left, just a bunch of patches all stitched together at this point." She said, crossing her arms as she took a moment an indulged in the sin of pride, letting herself look over her own work. Zack raised a hand before Alucard or Poseidon ever got a chance to speak, knowing they'd probably not gotten the human world literary reference.
"The ship of Theseus is an old philosophical question. If you take a famous ship and, over a long period of time, replace each board as they break, eventually you'd be left with no original boards. If you then take the remains of the old boards and construct an identical ship, which ship is the ship of Theseus?" He said, laying out the philosophical question. it was one of those "one hand clapping" questions that was mostly designed to have no right answer.

"I suppose you have a point." Alucard said with a weary sounding sigh. Perhaps Poseidon was the way he was because Alucard fought so hard so that his son could still be a kid when they weren't training.
Speaking of childhood innocence, Poseidon seemed wrapped completely in what Marigold said as she told them about how she had redo the alterations a lot of times. "Must be hard sometimes to have a dad whose rough on clothes."
When Marigold mentioned something called the ship of Theseus Poseidon had a very perplexed look on his face. Then before he could pop the question Zack spoke up explaining what it was. After learning it was a philosophical question Poseidon seemed less confused. Then Alucard said "Judging by the way you described this ship it sounds like they both are the ship of Theseus even though one is no longer made of the original wood."

"Honestly I could live with him being rough on the clothes if he wasn't so rough on himself." She said with a sigh as she looked over to her father. His grinning shrug meant he knew exactly where she was going with this but left her with an open floor anyway. "He's just a normal human remember. If he's constantly getting holes blown in his costume you can imagine the kind of state that he ends up in beneath the jacket." She said, twirling a spool of surgical stitching thread on the end of one of her legs, sighing and shaking her head as she settled down some. "Well at least stitching is a talent with multiple uses, I can patch him and his jacket at the same time. Sorta like I just did for YOUR dad." She said, snickering as she made the joke about having gone from stitching up Alucard to just Alucard's clothing in only an hour or so.
"She's not wrong. I tell you, getting a hole blown in me by a Flymon is not the kind of experience I'm in any hurry to repeat." He said, reaching down and placing his hand on the lower side of his torso, feeling an ever so slight twinge in the scar at just the mention of the incident.

Poseidon's scrunched his face before shuddering at the thought of the potential damage Zack could face if his clothes ended up with more holes than Swiss cheese. "No offense, Marigold, but if he is that rough with clothing I'd hate to think of what shape his body would be in. How is he even in one piece?" Poseidon said the words causing Alucard to turn to glance at his son.
A stern look appeared on the Angemon's face before, in an equally stern tone, said "Poseidon."
The tone caused Poseidon to face his father before looking back at Zack and Marigold as he said "Sorry everyone."
"Indeed your talent is quite versatile. It must come in handy when dealing with larger groups whether they need clothing repairs or stitches." Alucard said a faint smile ghosting the Angemon's face while Marigold was snickering before it vanished practically as fast as it appeared.
The thought of being impaled by a Flymon made Poseidon look uncomfortable. With that stinger a Flymon was a deadly threat for a digimon nevermind what most likely could happen to a human in the same boat.

"No, no, no, it's a fair wonder. And far be it from me to try and quash a kid's nature for asking questions." He said, waving off Alucard's attempt to admonish Poseidon for the question. He mulled on the answer for a moment, rubbing his chin. "As for how I'm still alive. Stubborn refusal to just die already, good friends willing to bail my fat out of the fire when I'm six feet in over my head, and a big heaping cinnamon scoop of dumb luck. Drive, friends, luck. it's a superhero's cocktail." He said, raising his hand and rolling it as if rolling an imaginary martini glass, talking with his hands in that particular way some humans did.
"And it's not like he hasn't been left with a few...reminders to work smarter next time." She said, buzzing over through the air to her father, hooking her claw under the bottom hem of his shirt and lifting it at one corner to show off that deep, toxic purple spiny sea star of a scar right on the lower end of his abdominal muscles.
"Mmm, there's that too. It's not like I've been lucky enough to walk out TOTALLY unscathed. No one is THAT lucky." He said, lifting one of his arm so that Poseidon could see the car more fully, though he covered it against shortly for fear of just being gross for it's own sake. "Should be a reminder to me, her and both of you too. No one's invulnerable." He said, giving a momentary side eyed glance to Alucard though looking back to neutral before the angel could probably catch it.

Alucard seemed to be thinking of how to best word things before he said "I wasn't trying to impede my son's natural curiosity. It's just, how do I put this? It's just I've been trying to teach him to be careful with how he words things and, for the most part he does well."
"Yeah I should of chose my words more carefully." Poseidon said before Zack explained while talking with his hands that he was bailed out of certain doom through friends and luck. Luck was one thing this human seemed to have in abundance. "Sounds like the friends who helped you out are good folks. Not everyone is as lucky as you are in that department sadly." Poseidon said as Marigold mentioned that it wasn't as if Zack wasn't left with a few reminders to work smarter before she flew over to her father and used one of her claws to lift the bottom of his shirt showing the wicked scar that was underneath. To say the young Gomamon was struck speechless was more than an understatement as he now sat there gaping like a fish at the sight of Zack's large scar. Living proof that the superhero wasn't bragging about the incident with Flymon to sound more heroic. Not that Alucard and Poseidon didn't believe he survived such an encounter before seeing the scar but to see the evidence was quite a shock.
"Believe me, Zack, that is a lesson both Poseidon and I have sadly learned all to well. Only I had the misfortune of being reminded of ones mortality at an older age than my son." Alucard said. He was only around two when Sangloupmon and Dracmon were murdered before his eyes and his quest for revenge began.

"We live with our battle scars. We move forward, day after day." Zack said in response. He wasn't treating it like some grand badge of honor, just a reminder of the dangers present in the job he had chosen for himself. No one had a gun to his head, he was going out and getting himself into trouble of his own free will and it didn't seem to scare him all that much, even after whatever close encounter with the afterlife had left him with that scar. His philosophy silently clashing against Alucard's just from the words, the way he said them, the way he smiled about it. He was the bright and gleaming hero, Alucard playing the role of the brooding vigilante, it was a pair as old as time even if Zack didn't seem to fully recognize that that's what he was doing.
"No hero ever stands up alone, doesn't matter who they are. That's just how people work, digimon too really. No man is an island." She said, quoting human literature again but waving it off so that no one would feel the need to question her quotation. It was an odd mix, to have a digimon who so instantly and readily talked like a human, a human being her main adult point of reference for, well, mostly everything after all.
"Besides, who says I'm not allowed to show off at least a little bit." He said, holding up one hand with his index finger and thumb particularly close together in the gesture, grinning at Alucard to fully banish any idea that he had been caught off guard or offended by Poseidon's question. The gleam in his eyes and his smile seemed to follow him around, an air of positivity that it was hard to tell if he was doing on purpose or not.

"That we do. For better or worse." Alucard said with a faint hint of a smile as he adjusted his sitting position before briefly making a pained expression as one of his two broken wings brushed the back of the chair. Poseidon looked at his father before the Angemon shifted again and began rubbing Poseidon's mohawk. Apparently, though uncomfortable still, the pain started to go down.
Poseidon sighed happily at the contact though he looked at his father in worry before he asked "Are you okay, Dad. Are your two broken wings bothering you?"
Alucard said nothing taking in a deep sigh before shaking his head which Poseidon took as an indication to leave well enough alone. Sure his father's wings would heal fast enough but it would still be uncomfortable for the Angemon throughout the healing process. When Zack began quoting human literature Poseidon said "No man is an island. I guess that's true but with some digimon, my dad included, they sometimes forget that." At the sigh that came from Alucard, Poseidon said "I hit the nail on the head didn't I? Dad, I appreciate that you want to keep me safe but what good does that do the both of us if you take more damage than you need to. Let me help you more. I am supposed to be both your son and your apprentice."
Zack trying to show that he wasn't bothered by Poseidon's earlier questions made the young Gomamon calm down a bit before he turned back to his father. The Angemon was looking as if he was now in deep thought so he didn't want to interrupt his father until he was ready to speak.

"He's not wrong, Alucard. Sure, I charge in headfirst when I see something wrong going down but that doesn't mean I can just ignore it when I get myself hurt, nor do I get in a fight with the intention of getting hurt." He said, sitting up with his legs crossed on the top of one of the tables so he was more able to fully face Alucard and Poseidon. "And besides the fact, we have people to take care of and that starts with taking care of ourselves, doesn't it? Our children need us to be strong and steady and we can't exactly do that if we let our wounds fester. Then we're not of any use to anyone, right?" He said. he could feel how closed off and rigid Alucard could be, just from listening to him speak and watching the expression on his face. It was almost the opposite of the shamelessly emotional and idealistic human that was talking to him.
"Here." Marigold buzzed to a back room of the shelter, coming back with four planks of kindling wood like one would use for a fire pit, grabbing so scraps of cheap cloth from her workspace she splinted two pieces of wood against the breakage in each wings, setting them back in their normal shape before tying the splints in place with the cloth. "Should make things set back where they're supposed to be, keep them from stinging as much, too." She said, stepping back from her work. He was in a place of support and friendship for any digimon that walked through its front doors, that included him, no questions asked. Any help he or Poseidon required would be given and given freely.

"I can understand charging head on to some extent. When I got my armor champion form of Pegasusmon I charged as fast as I could to the digimental's location which was not far from an aggressive digimon that was threatening to drown a town by flooding it. In my rookie form of Lopmon I have an ice attack which I used to skate to the scene to move faster. Yes I could of chosen to evacuate the town instead but I didn't think there was enough time. I guess we are alike in some regard, Zack. Other than being single fathers that is." Alucard said the pain in his broken wings fading a bit but was still there.
"Zack is right about one thing, Dad. You need to be strong so we would be ready for anything that comes our way. That means you need to heal. Shame you don't seem to have any healing abilities, Dad, because one of those would of been handy now." Poseidon said hearing Marigold buzz as she flew to a back room in the shelter returning with four planks of wood. Obviously the wood was intended to splint Alucard's two broken wings which made Poseidon feel better. Alucard leaned forward to make the job of splinting his wings easier though Poseidon was still wondering how he only broke the top two of his six wings. One broken wing on each side. Shaking his head Poseidon decided to accept the small amount of luck Alucard had from the encounter with Asuramon.

Zack's face darkened, almost imperceptibly for a moment when he heard Alucard's story. It struck a sour cord inside the soul of the heroic human. The idea of not saving people in danger because there "wasn't enough time" smacked him as the absolute wrong kind of attitude. He didn't speak up, he didn't want to start a fight about something that was already long in the past from how it sounded. He couldn't help himself from at least prodding NEAR the issue though with a simple phrase.
"When people are in trouble, I do what I can." He said. It would sound like a reassuring platitude, just like many of the things that he said. It wasn't directly confrontational to Alucard, it might even go over the angel's head that he was referring to him and his actions, but it soothed Zack a little bit to make his stance known if only to himself.
"Poseidon's got that right. You, if you've got any smarts, are officially benched for a few days at least. You won't be monster hunting in the state you're in unless you want these injuries to compound on themselves with new ones." She said, pulling the final splint tight, which would hopefully settle some of the pain from the broken wings, making it so they didn't have to support as much of their own weight as they healed and clicking the bones back into the right shape to support one another. "You go into a fight with you wings hanging like that, eventually you're gonna lose one or both of them." She said, speaking very frankly to the angel. If he kept hurting his wings, delicate masterpieces of biology that they were, they'd be lost beyond repair before long.

Alucard caught Zack's expression but maintained a calm demeanor as he looked at Zack before he then explained further when he said "You misunderstand, Zack. I was moving to help the digimon of the town but evacuating them wasn't the most expedient course of action. Confronting the Ogremon trying to flood the town was the best course of action at the time. It was near the waterfall that I found the digimental that allowed me to become Pegasusmon and defeat Ogremon to save the town." Then Alucard stared at Zack with a knowing look before he said "So there is no reason for you to think I would be so selfish as to leave the townsfolk to drown." His tone was the usual cold tone but there was no signs of anger or hostility from the Angemon.
Poseidon grinned as Marigold began lecturing Alucard while the vampire hunter just took it in stride as if not put off by Marigold's words before he said "Don't worry Marigold. I don't plan on doing anything that foolish as Angemon like myself rely on our ability to fly fast and loosing two of my wings could definitely hamper that."
