"Yeah the gaps happened when I digivolved to my rookie form but have yet to clear up. All I remember is fragments of some bad memories so maybe it could of been some kind of trauma." LJ said as he wondered why he would even remember pieces given the scariest digimon he did remember from his times as a purple Punimon was a SkullSatamon but he didn't remember what happened that night. Wait, one of his fathers were telepathic so maybe Mandrake could help with his gaps in his memory. The problem was he never told them the problem was this bad. All he said was his memory was somewhat fragmented but not practically blown to shreds. Clearly the memory was there but something was keeping him from accessing his memories.
"Digimon can also suffer memory loss from blows to the head. My pops, you know my Leomon parent you both know as Lothar, took a blow to his head as a kid and lost the events of an entire night until Dad used his telepathy to recover those missing memories." LJ said now wanting to seek his parents out even more but at some level the thought he would find something much worse than what little he remembered terrified him at some level but he kept his cool so as not to worry Shouta even though he knew Hex would likely pick up on his worries.
The subject of the digimon ElDoradimon was enough of a diversion though. "Yeah that digimon makes a large digimon like Trailmon seem absolutely tiny and would be an impressive digimon to see in person but the city on the digimon's back, let's just say the locals are quite xenophobic towards humans. At best they imprison them so I'd hate to see what they'd do at worst."

The confirmation that digimon could suffer from amnesia due to cranial trauma was interesting but didn't really allow Shouta to offer more than speculation as to the cause of LJ's memory loss. He also wasn't sure if such an issue could ever be relevant to Hex, as his rookie form didn't seem to have a physical skull. His flat body didn't seem to have space for a brain, which raised questions about how he functioned that Shouta couldn't even begin to answer. Then again, he had seen Hex absorb physical items into his body with no issue so perhaps a similar process allowed him to have functioning organs, despite there not seeming to be sufficient space in his body.
Hex did indeed pick up on LJ's fear, along with Shouta's minor concern, but was more interested in the prospect of ElDoradimon's city. If the entire population, or at least a sizeable proportion of it, was gripped by the same fear and dislike of humans, then he imagined that it would be something very interesting to experience. Even if the individual levels of emotions were relatively mild, the collective reaction could be fascinating to observe. Unfortunately, experiencing that would likely involve putting Shouta in danger. As much as he had trouble controlling his desires, he did manage to at least sort them into a vague hierarchy and keeping his partner safe and happy was near the top of that list.
"Is there any specific reason for that? Or do they just not like humans in general?" he asked, hoping he might gain some more insight into the situation. If there was a specific inciting incident behind their xenophobia, he might be able to find a way to poke at it without actually bringing Shouta close to the city of human-hating, potentially violent. Of course, it was also possible that there was no real cause behind it, which would mean he would have to find some other human who he could push towards them in order to observe their reaction. Hex knew better than most that while negative emotions could stem from a number of sources, sometimes they manifested without any direct cause, especially on a societal level where individual fears and paranoia could feed on each other.

"I'm not sure about the reason as this hatred has been going on long before my parents were born. While I would understand if it was a simple fear of humans, which some of it may be the case, but chances are there is also plenty of unwillingness to change such ignorance. Such a thing sounds sad as humans and digimon are capable of the same evils but humans lack the destructive power digimon have without various artificial means." LJ said looking up at Hex. The Eyesmon was no doubt fascinated by the concept of the dark emotions those digimon were bound to channel. "For Shouta to go there with you Hex it would take some creative thinking. Even if his human nature were disguised. He would also have to be able to pass as a digimon from more than just the visual end."
"At least the Digital World is still filled with things to keep both you and Hex intrigued, Shouta. I was born in this world and it still catches me by surprise and I haven't been living by myself very long." LJ said before a random thought came to his mind before he said "Who knows. Maybe one day I'll head to the Moon here in the Digital World. Neither of my parents have been there despite their adventurous nature."

Both Hex and Shouta were disappointed that there were no answers to be had as to why the inhabitants of ElDoradimon were so hostile to humans, although for different reasons. For Hex, his disappointment stemmed from the fact that this would make it more difficult to safely approach the city while for Shouta, it was more of a general discontent that such prejudice and xenophobia existed in the Digital World as well.
"A pity. The institutions of society are meant to contribute towards the good of all but when they are based on fear and hatred, they become self-destructive and detrimental. I can only hope that something triggers a change towards a more rational society for them in the future," Shouta commented. He personally had no intention of visiting ElDoradimon, no matter how much Hex might want it. As interesting a sight as it might be, he was not at all eager to experience a city where his very existence went against their rules and laws. The other location LJ mentioned quickly drew his attention away from that topic, however.
"The Moon?" he asked incredulously, wondering if LJ was making a joke. "You mean it is actually possible to travel to the Moon here? Is there any sort of civilization there?" he asked. Shouta had been acting under the impression that while the Digital World was less tamed than the world he knew, that the civilized areas would be approximately in line with the level of technology he knew, or perhaps even slightly behind. If they had a Space Program that granted reliable access to the Moon, however, then he would have to reevaluate things.

"What you say is true Shouta and it makes me feel bad for those digimon in ElDoradimon since they seem to live in a mix of fear and ignorance which they don't seem to be willing to improve any time soon I'm afraid. Unfortunately they don't seem all that eager to improve themselves in that time. Yet like you I also hope one day they can at least try to put aside their prejudices." LJ said with a surprising amount of wisdom for a digimon as young as he was. Sure LJ had a lot to learn but maybe his wisdom came from the elders of his family.
LJ softly laughed before he said "I know it may sound strange but in this world some digimon like Trailmon can reach the moon as well as some digimon that can fly. I might have to use Trailmon to get there as I don't know if my own magic would allow me to fly that far since I don't have full mastery of my flight ability. As for the moon itself there are digimon that reside there likely getting there to form their settlements in the way I mentioned before."

LJ's explanation of the ways of travelling to the moon only seemed to raise more questions for Shouta but they at least gave him a place to start. If one could fly from the Digital World to its moon, that would suggest that perhaps they shared an atmosphere somehow. Or perhaps it was just the case that digimon didn't necessarily require an atmosphere to survive. Many of the basic principles of science and logic that Shouta took for granted were casually disregarded by Hex on a daily basis so it was likely that the same could be said for the rest of the Digital World.
Unfortunately, as fascinating as the prospect of lunar travel was, it did not change the fact that they were still earthbound for the moment and still in the middle of a sweltering desert. Reaching behind him and into his bag, Shouta withdrew a water bottle and took a sip, restraining himself from drinking more deeply. He was unsure how long it would take to reach Rustport but it certainly didn't seem wise to drink all of his limited supply of water at once.
"Would you care for some water?" he asked LJ, proffering the bottle to LJ. He would have offered to Hex as well but the digimon would likely have trouble restraining himself from finishing it all. Best to ensure everybody else was satisfied first.

LJ watched as Shouta reached behind himself and pulled out a bottle of water from his bag and LJ looked around noticing a cactus plan nearby before he answered Shouta as he said "Nah. It's okay. I can just get some water from that nearby cactus." He then indicated the fairly tall cactus nearby that was just a little bigger than the average human before he walked over to the spiney plant before focusing his magic before placed his cape in his bag and said "Spiritual Conjuring." A light purple glow appeared before a small knife appeared in LJ's hand which the Leomon X took a firm hold of the magically summoned weapon before using it to trim off the end of a small branch of the cactus and began drinking the liquid from the plant as he walked back over to them. Sure him conjuring a weapon with his magic out of thin air might raise eye brows but he did mention having access to magic.
"You and Hex can share that water and perhaps use the cactus to fill your water bottle if you run out." LJ said before he sighed "I don't know how non burrowing digimon can tolerate this heat. I mean I don't like cold very much either but it is easier to keep warm then cool when one is furry."
OOC: LJ uses his Spiritual Conjuring to summon a knife to gain access to the water in the cactus. Spiritual Conjuring: Uses his magic to conjure various handheld weapons before attempting to attack opponents with them. The conjured weapon lasts 2 posts.(Cooldown of 2 posts) Lasts 0/2 posts.

LJ raised an eyebrow at LJ's casual display of his magic, impressed at the usefulness of the trick and at LJ's handy knowledge of how to get water from the cactus. "That must come in handy a lot," he commented, nodding to the newly manifested knife. Being able to draw upon a knife at any time would be useful, even more so if other tools could be manifested in the same way.
With a larger supply of water available, Shouta allowed himself to take a deeper pull of his water before proffering the rest to Hex. Predictably, the digimon dove upon the bottle and upended it into his mouth, only the fact that Shouta had wisely kept a hold of the base of the bottle preventing him from absorbing the entire thing into his body. Shouta pulled the now empty bottle away from Hex and took a moment to wipe around the neck of the bottle with his handkerchief before bringing it over to the cactus and refilling it.
"Hex can apparently store any number of things within his body," he resumed his comment on LJ's ability once the bottle was once again full. "But as far as I can tell, he uses it to store random junk. While I'm sure he has useful things stored in there, finding them amidst the clutter would be no mean feat," he said, returning the bottle to his bag and resuming his trek through the desert. Hex's hissed irritably at that comment.
"They're not junk! They're my treasures," he insisted irritably. Shouta frowned but elected not to argue. He had seen Hex literally collect garbage but if he valued them for whatever reason then there was little point in trying to convince him otherwise.
"I imagine that the digimon who live here are physically adapted to endure the heat, not too unlike Hex," he mentioned, gesturing to the digimon who was still largely unbothered by the sweltering climate.

"Definitely is handy to be able to conjure any handheld weapon I need so I don't always have to rely on the big sword I always carry." LJ said as he watched Shouta offered the bottle of water to Hex where the Eyesmon dove upon it nearly absorbing the bottle into his shadowy body. "Wow." Was all LJ could say in response to that as Shouta made his way over to the cactus to refill the water bottle.
"So Hex is like a living Infinity Store? That is something wild now that I think about it." LJ said looking amazed at the info he had just learned. Suppose it was handier than carrying stuff in a backpack when one was made of shadows. "He likely knows how to find what he needs from within his body since he probably has a few useful tools that are not uncommon for some digimon to carry in their travels." Hex was proving to be a more fascinating digimon by the minute despite his odd behaviors which could lead him to becoming far more troublesome if not for Shouta to balance him out.
"Yeah I guess." LJ said before chuckling as he continued "But I sure am not one of those digimon adapted for heat. The reason Hex seems fine is probably due to his shadowy nature."

The revelation that LJ could only produce weapons limited the usefulness of his ability slightly but not by too much. Weapons could be put to non-violent uses, as LJ had demonstrated with the cactus. It certainly was more efficient to use a knife to cut it than his large, somewhat cumbersome looking sword.
"I keep track of all my treasures... for the most part," Hex started to boast, only tagging the last part on reluctantly. While it was a simple matter for him to withdraw any item of choice from his body at a moment's notice, he didn't exactly have a mental list of everything in his inventory and occasionally, he would forget he had something until he rooted around within his Pocket Space and stumbled across it. Personally, he found this to be something of an added benefit, as he could always find what he needed when he needed it and often got the pleasure of rediscovering some bauble he had forgotten about, but he suspected Shouta would not see it the same way.
"Indeed, Hex's form seems well suited to enduring hostile environments. Although I suppose that such things can change when digimon digivolve. I certainly hope not to need to draw on Hex's armor form while we're here. Or at all, for that matter," Shouta said, grimacing as he imagined the stench of Raremon's decomposing flesh after prolonged exposure to the hot sun.
"Why not?" Hex immediately protested. "As Raremon, I'm bigger and stronger. I don't know if I'd want to be in that form all the time but it would let me do all sorts of things I can't as an Eyesmon," he argued. He sensed Shouta's distaste at the thought but he didn't want to give up on the idea of ever using his new form, at least not until he could reach the champion level without it.

LJ noticed Hex's last few words seemed to be tacked on if his tone was anything to go on. Even if it was whispered he would have a fair chance of hearing it with the sharp hearing he inherited from Lothar. LJ could only imagine how cluttered Hex's pocket space could be if he made a statement like that. Maybe he occasionally lost track of where he set things within his body and, given his behaviors so far, it made perfect sense.
"Indeed various digivolutions can be quite different. After all who would of thought one of my armor evolutions would of been a dual sword wielding anthropomorphic crow?" LJ said with a shrug catching Shouta's grimace after mentioning how he hoped that he wouldn't need to draw on Hex's armor form while there. Before he could ask more about the armor form Hex explained that he became Raremon. Ah that explained Shouta's grimace since such a digimon tended to be foul smelling and in the sun. Ugh he didn't want to think any more along that train of thought.
Rubbing the back of his head searching for the right words without seeming insensitive he then said "Well at least Hex can have advantages in toxic environments in that form since Raremon rarely seem bothered by things like that."

The comments on on armor forms and the merits of Hex's did little to put Shouta at ease but he made an attempt to look on the bright side of things for Hex's sake. "I suppose that is true, though I do not relish being in any such toxic environment to begin with. Still, it is better to have the option to respond in such situations, even if that option is somewhat distasteful," he admitted. Hex was cheered up by this admission, flying closer to his partner.
"Right! Raremon is useful for all sorts of things. I'm bigger and stronger in that form and other digimon are just as likely to be bothered by the smell as you. Nobody will want to take my stuff or hurt you if they have to put up with that smell to do it," he pointed out.
"Well reasoned, I suppose," Shouta begrudgingly conceded. "Although I feel you are ignoring the necessary issue that I also have to endure that same smell. Regardless, we can bear the option in mind for if we have need of such... talents," he chose his final word delicately, trying to avoid committing to anything but sincerely trying to think up situations where it might be tolerable to rely on Raremon. Short of being forced to venture into an area where Raremon was the lesser of two stenches, it seemed unlikely that such situations would arise frequently but it was clear that Hex would be disappointed if he could not make use of it.

"I suppose no human and most digimon do, Shouta. I know I sure am not meant for such places which is fortunate very few toxic areas exist in the Digital World. It seems the reason is due to digimon like Raremon. It seems such a species is overall a beneficial one to maintain the balance of this world's natural environment. Granted it is an underappreciated niche but a vital one all the same." LJ said as he wondered if Hex's armor ultimate would be as interesting as his armor champion. Who knew with digivolution in general but with armor forms they tended to be more unpredictable.
"I know many beast digimon like myself have sensitive noses and wouldn't like foul odors all that much. Shame Hex doesn't contain his odor in scent glands like a mink or skunk in the Human World. That would make the form more flexible to deal with." LJ said in response to Shouta. Looks like his schooling in the Human World was coming in handy.

"Fair enough. I suppose there truly is a time and a place for everything," Shouta acknowledged. LJ's description of how Raremon served a function in the Digital World's ecosystem actually helped him to come to terms with the idea. He was a fan of orderly systems and knowing that Raremon, no matter how ghastly he may be, fit into a specific role made it a lot easier for him to accept the necessity of dealing with the form. Preferably in a situation where he could fulfil that role.
"A skunk? A mink?" Hex repeated curiously, intrigued by the prospect of more creatures that could produce a stench to rival Raremon's. While he had a fairly comprehensive knowledge of the Digital World, having gleaned enough information from the past lives his data came from to function easily within that world, his knowledge of the human world was more limited.
"Small animals that are capable of producing particularly foul odors as a defense mechanism, using the stench to drive away potential threats," Shouta explained succinctly. "Fortunately, they are not commonly found in the city which means we are unlikely to have to deal with that particular nuisance any time soon," he commented, dashing Hex's hopes that they would get to encounter something that could produce a scent as off-putting as Raremon's.
"So they smell the same as Raremon? Are there any others like that that do live in Shibuya?" he pressed. Shouta opened his mouth to answer only to pause as he realized he wasn't entirely sure of the answer to the first one.
"I don't actually know how their smell compares to your own, as I've never had the misfortune of encountering one," he admitted. He had trouble imagining anything smelling as foul as Raremon's rotting flesh but then again, until he had actually encountered Raremon he would never have imagined anything smelling that bad either. "I am fairly certain there is nothing in Shibuya that would produce such a stench, however. At least, nothing alive."

"From what I've learned in school, neither are native to Japan. All I know is that the scent of a skunk's spray can be a pain to remove. Strange that I learned this during math class while admittedly not paying much attention to the teacher. I guess it's for the best he didn't catch me in the act." LJ said though he knew his parents would not be happy if they found out he was messing around in any class but since LJ was likely younger than Shouta such behaviors were probably to be expected.
"Besides, Hex, if you are curious about Human World animals there are books you can buy or borrow to get the information. As for skunks, I don't think they smell the same as a Raremon but I don't think I'd enjoy it very much." he said as he indicated his nose before he continued "Not only do I share a champion form similar to Pops but I have his sense of smell and hearing too. As useful as enhanced senses are they can be a double edged sword in the wrong circumstances."
