Thorough Investigation [Tsumi]

Manami wasn’t the type to visit cities all that frequently. Let alone libraries! Currently, the holosuited Trickmon was peering through the dusty pages of a thick, nondescript tome; if anything, it looked like it was fairly old, and fairly boring, given how the digimon’s focus seemed to waver at random times.
And if this was Manami, one could only wonder the fate that befell the only companion she had for this day. Marina, also donning her holosuit, could barely remain in her chair. Keep quiet? Something completely impossible! “Are you done yeeet~? I didn’t think that this would be so boring.”
Another page was turned, alongside the older digimon shaking her head. Even if it was annoying, at least interacting with somebody helped her keep awake. “Why don’t you conduct a small investigation? I’m sure that somebody with your talents would be able to find the information we’re looking for fairly easily.”
The correct button had been pressed. Even if Marina didn’t know what she was looking for, she was completely sure about her ability to find it. “You got it! I’ll be done in no time.”
Was setting off a disguised Tutomon with no regards to security a smart decision? Hard to know, but at least there was finally some peace and quiet in Manami’s corner of the library.

"Can you two just....oh...!" "Caliber...." A pair of quiet voices say in a hushed tone that carries through the book-covered halls. The first, feminine and soft. The second, masculine and gritty with the slightest hint of nasally speech...or perhaps they were talking through something rigid, like a mask? There was no telling without visual aid, but one thing needed no such supplementary assistance to understand.
The sound of dozens of books falling off their shelves, and the screaming of a young digimon- "WHAAAAAAG, DAMN THIS LADDEEEER!!" the voice rings out before a heavy thud, followed by....many, many more solid thuds, usually paired with an 'oof' from the same voice as the screaming.
Tsumi looks at the horror scene before her, one book in her arm while the free one held a hand to her mouth in shock. "I thought I told you to be quiet..." She says in a slightly louder tone, obviously upset. "Come on, get up Caliber. We need to clean this up, and hope that no one heard us..." "Have fun with that." a second voice says. A small bipedal digimon with mammal-esc features that were mostly hidden by scrap metal, including three round disks. One on each arm, which came with long claws, and one on the head.
"You're helping too, Dauntless...." "Why? I didn't do it." "You told him to use the ladder." "And?" "That's what- I'm not explaining myself, help us or you're not going to have reading time tonight." she chides the rookie, almost like a mother would.
The shield-clad digimon rolls its visible eyes, closing a book in hand before jumping off of its wooden chair and waddling to a massive pile of books. From the book pile there were five limbs. Two arms, and two legs, both of which were adorned with golden and silver armor, and a long golden blade, about the size of a machete. The arms and legs twitch as the poor collapse victim is buried in knowledge.

While was true that, relatively speaking, all the members of this particular ensemble had a healthy measure of curiosity when it came to unusual situations, Marina was no doubt the biggest exponent of such a behavior. That quality, combined to the fact that she didn’t exactly fancy how boringly silent these so-called libraries were, drew her like a moth to fire to the place of the commotion as soon as she heard the sound of what was a literal avalanche of books.
It took her between ten and twelve seconds, but she found the place; there, she caught sight of what looked like a human girl and two digimons. It was probably a highly dissonant gesture, but the disguised digimon found herself smiling at the scene. “Must’ve been a pretty clumsy episode, if I say so myself.” She said, admiring the disorder brought by the fallen items. “Mind if I lend y’all a hand? I don’t know the first thing about responsibilities and whose fault it is, but chances are you’re not to remain in this place for long if whoever’s in charge of this place discovers this disaster.”
With that vaguely mocking smile etched in her face, Marina closed the distance and lifted a book, then proceeded to store it in one of the many newly-vacant places. She gave the group another look, and then asked. “Why are you here, anyway? I might be assuming, but judging by this event, I’d say that you don’t tend to frequent places like this one. Or… that you’re not familiar with ladder usage, for whatever reason.”
That was indeed a rare occurrence, but the Tutomon wasn’t one to judge. She shrugged as she went to pick the next book. “My name’s Marina, by the way. Pleased to meet you!”
Even if potentially a waste of time, this was at least ten times more entertaining than trying to search for the proverbial needle on a haystack.

"Get ready to run for it...." The Ludomon says, tugging on Tsumi's jacket and pointing to the newcomer. Tsumi freezes before turning to Marina, putting the book she was holding down. It was...an Atlas of the recorded digital world. "Oh, sorry!" She says in a hushed tone, looking to her buried sword-digimon and nodding. "Y-yeah. if you could help, that'd be great...." She admits, starting to pick up books and put them back on the shelf. Dauntless is able to balance several books on his shield-hat in order for Tsumi to begin organizing them and putting them back in place carefully.
"This little one used a ladder without permission, and uh...usually they aren't meant to support lizards made of metal." She says, moving a book away from Caliber's face to reveal swirls in his eyes as he desperately tried to recover from the all-out book assault. The blade that was seen poking out of the book pile juts out of a helmet-like head that didn't seem like it was armor at all, rather a metallic exoskeleton or scales.
"I, uh...." Tsumi says, frowning. "Sorry for the noise, and thanks for the help. Really, I can't afford to be kicked out yet."
with a sigh, she climbs onto the ladder herself, showing much more care and restraint than her partner digimon. She places a book where it belonged on the shelf, and moves a hand to shift her glasses back up her nose. With an upset sigh, she returns to the floor to help the lizard-digimon stand up and regain his footing. "Sorry Tsumi...." He mutters, holding his head. "Just be quiet, please?"

The reason was… something as simple as that? Marina couldn’t help but to shrug at how anyone thought that what amounted to a living armor would do well on a ladder, but that was a question for later! “I don’t mind the noise in the slightest.” She replied to the girl’s apology, failing to not smirk at the situation. “Others might, though! In all honesty, libraries are a bit too quiet for my tastes. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t searching for something!”
This, obviously, led to the very next question. “Perchance, have you stumbled into anything relating to ancient ruins, or unexplored sites? The more dangerous, the better!” She didn’t expect to get the answers she was looking for, but there was no harm in asking, was it? On the other hand, she also found the opportunity to repeat a question she had already asked before. “What about y’all, though? Lookin’ for anything in specific? I’ve been perusing this library too, and I can say for certain that quantity really doesn’t equate to quality in this situation. Most of the things in here are way too basic, don’tcha think?”
Haughty? A bit, for sure. Nevertheless, it couldn’t be denied that, while this library was a treasure trove of knowledge in relative terms, its shallowness was a bit disappointing.

With a side glance, Tsumi's gaze begins shifting around as she thinks, a habit she's had all her life. As she puts a book back on the shelf, Caliber now mostly dug free from the pile, she considers if talking about such things was wise, let alone safe.
"Uh...." She says, helping the golden and metal lizard stand straight so he can help clean. But while the Zudomon gets into the rhythm of putting books back on the hazardous shelf, Tsumi pulls something from her pocket. "Sometimes, my digivice shows me a map...." She explains, turning it on to reveal some sort of coastline in a crude, monocrome scheme with an X placed on it.
"I found one location that it's shown me, and it was a little shrine with some weird writing on the wall. I, uh....couldn't record any of it. A big meanie showed up and attacked, destroying it." She explained, frowning. "And since there are no landmarks to go off of on the map, I feel like I could look for it for years and still not find the next mark...I don't even know the scale that this map represents."
The two digimon seem visibly upset as Tsumi spoke. They knew how upset the girl was about this whole ordeal... "I've been in the digital world for two years and it feels like I haven't done anything...." She states, putting the black and gold digivice back into her pocket.
"Otherwise, no. I tend to avoid danger, as much as I can. These two aren't really fighters, and I don't want them getting hurt." "We so too are fighters!" Replies Caliber, holding up a hand. "No we aren't" retorts the Ludomon, putting an entire stack of books away at once.

Marina looked at the group quizzically. They were a pretty colorful ensemble, weren’t they? Temporarily pausing her attempt at helping out with the book ordering in order to observe the map provided by her and listen to the following tale.
“That’s very interesting!” The digimon said, once the human concluded with it. “It’s like searching the proverbial needle in a haystack, isn’t it?” She could think of a place that looked somewhat like what the hologram had shown, but that wasn’t that important for the time being.
In a fairly rare display, Marina seemed thoughtful for a couple of seconds. The trio’s plight was definitely an interesting situation. “Setting aside this situation for a moment, would you mind if I asked a question?” Even in the face of a negative answer, she’d do it still. “Is the ‘doing anything’ deal that important? I’m not talking about your situation in specific, but humans are always hurrying somewhere, chasing grand plans around even though they seldom seem like they’re enjoying it. Makes me wonder why they’re doing it in the first place.”
Was that question fitting for a moment like this one? The Tutomon didn’t really know; as things stood, she was mostly driven by curiosity right now. “Is this quest something you truly want to do, or something that you’re doing because you feel like you’re supposed to?” Considering how the girl had just confessed she liked to avoid danger, one could only wonder. “I think that living a calm life has its benefits, but that usually isn’t very compatible to treasure hunting.”
The phrasing was a little confusing, but hopefuilly Marina was getting her point across. “That being said! If finding this place is truly what you want to do, I wouldn’t mind helping you! I’d have to ask for permission, of course, but I doubt that’s going to be denied to me. What do you say?”
