"Rather than nuisance for me, is it nuisance for you? I'm sorry about how my mother acts. She's always the outspoken one, and will generally tries to make people befriend me. I can't say no everytime she did that." Karin admitted. The blond haired girl took another sip of water and offered the younger girl the menu, as if telling her 'go on if you want, my treat'.
The blond haired girl scooped her curry and eat it. At this point, it's already cold, but whatever.
"Somehow, everytime, although her guesses often came really off... she always do something good for me. When I forgot to bought lunch in elementary school and she have to go home late that day, I was starving. I'm a disastrous cook that cannot cook anything. I don't want her to get worried, so I ate raw sausage... When I ended up getting really bad stomachache, she tried to guess why... she guessed that somehow the breakfast or dinner food was wrong... I lied that it's the sauce we bought from mall... yet the next day, she always cook me lunch, and that becomes custom afterward."
She dunno what she got by telling her all of this, but somehow, she just felt like talking.
"Something like that, so yeah... she's always the type that knows the best for me."

As Karin asked if she found going shopping a nuisance for her, she just denied with her head.
“Not at all, Karin-san. I offered to go shopping with you on first place, I don’t know why it would be bothersome now” Now that she was at it, Ayaka could see that Mana’s behavior was really alike to Yuu’s, but mentally scratched her head, thinking in what could have triggered that sudden change in her demeanor.
Then, she saw Karin extending one of the menus to her, but she politely refused. “Don’t worry about me. I’m fine, I’ve already eaten here. We can go whenever you want”
She then heard the girl’s anecdote about how her mother cared for her, and couldn’t resist but to smirk at it.
“Your okaa-san seems to be a really caring woman, Karin-san. My parents… they’re rather strict with what they want, but I guess that’s their way of caring for me… and Yuu, I guess…”
There was it, Ayaka could notice the strange tone in which Mana had pronounced both of those words. And now that she recalled it, she hadn’t seen her partner’s parents yet, so she found her words rather… unsettling.
“But I won’t bore you with that stuff” she finished “If you’re done eating, we should get going, don’t you think?”

Ah... does this girl, somehow is like Koharu? Then, that kind of thing, with Yuu's condition... No, it's not my concern to prey... but if this girl somehow... very similar, then... Then that kind of life, must be rather suffocating despite being at home. Parents that puts too much hope on you, that kind of thing... I don't understand how you can survive that kind of prison of expectation... that kind of weight, it's brutal. I can't relate to her at all.
"I see... we're that much of a different person, then. I'm sorry, to be frank, I really can't relate with you on that part. I'm always amazed at peoples who can take their parents expectation head on. My father is a bit strict, but it's nothing on level of such high expectation like I have to be the first. Things like that... if I were on shoes of such kind of peoples, I'd be crushed really hard."
Karin gathered her belonging and pay for her meal.
"That's why, I'm amazed at my friend and you. You're in similar situation, and did it for the same reason... But best to not bore you with that, so shall we?" she pointed at a clothing store that seem to sell boyish clothes. The blond haired girl checked her wallet and affirmed that she still have her credit card ready.

Mana regarded Karin for a few seconds, contemplating the words she had just said. She was pretty sure that although she didn't have to make her parents proud, she obviously wasn't your everyday happy and carefree little girl, nor tried to be.
“Heh, you overrate me, Karin-san. You may say that you would be crushed under the weight of your parents' expectations, but I'm pretty sure that everyone has to carry an unbearable load… I just had the luxury of choosing mine instead of just waiting until fate did so and because of my brother, friends and now, Ayaka, it's actually not that bad" she seemed thoughtful for a second before she continued speaking "I may be prying, but I guess that’s what happened to you? You’re a kind person, Karin-san, but your…” She stopped mid sentence, realizing that she was inviting disaster and smiled shyly at Ayaka when she sighed relieved at her partner's display of maturity.
“Better if we don’t make this conversation more awkward" she finally allowed herself to relax, recovering her usual smile and cheery expression "Let’s just go and buy those clothes!"
As they made their way to the store, she tried not to go to her clothing tastes too much. She used her fair share of boyish clothes, but her fondoness of the color pink maybe would prove to be an hindrace to their endeavor. Even though their tastes clashed, hers was good enough to let her make some good choices, even though she tried sometimes to choose something a little more girlish in boyish scale of clothes. All in all, she seemed to have a blast while she shopped with the elder girl.

Karin snorted sarcastically when the younger girl asked question that she really hated. Still, this girl, she's shared quite numbers of facts, so Karin thought it's only fair to share a little bit, but not now. No, it's best saved for later, once she already picked the new clothes.
When she's done, Karin picked up grafitti-themed black shirt with baggy white trousers. To substitute her usual cat head bandanna that obviously won't fit like this, she picked up a cap. If it's not thanks to long hair and body frame, she really thought she'll be made fun of. The blond haired girl paid for her purchase and leaves the store in rather lighter mood. Puttimon seem to be sleeping through their little shopping spree, leaving her mistress and the younger girl to take their time.
"...For your question..." Karin suddenly bring it up, looking ahead to groups of teenage girls.
"...Boys might tease, boys might punch and do physical bullying toward weaker boys... at least from my perspective, that's nothing compared to girls. If you don't fit, they'll mentally torture you. Society is screwed. Since when everyone must fit that kind of mold they set? If they doesn't fit that mold, is it their right to bully the person? But that's what they call social justice, right? That's why, don't call me 'good girl', Mana. I'm not. I want that system to be destroyed. However, it's seem it's impossible."

Mana listened to Karin’s words attentively, trying not to miss any detail of it. The older girl indeed seemed deeply affected by all the things she had gone through, but Mana guessed she could help her. She took a deep breath.
“Okay, Karin-san, maybe you won’t talk to me again, but please hear me out” she started in a surprisingly serious voice “Since when wanting something that has pained you so deeply to go away makes you a bad person in any way? You only want to live a peaceful life, and I don’t see anything wrong or bad about it. But let’s not go that way because both wrong and bad mostly depend on the situation and the person. What I know about you, independently from if you’re good, bad, wrong, right or whatever, it’s that you care, and that’s way more important than any of the aforementioned things” She made a pause to catch her breath back and then continued.
“Yeah, you’re a little on the cold side, so what? I often come across as cheeky or impolite, but that doesn’t change who we are. Nii-san has told me about what happened in your first travel to the Digiworld and how you became concerned for him when he was hit by that bad bear-guy attack… You became worried for a person who you had met just a day ago… almost a total stranger. You genuinely care for people, and that’s much more than what I can say about most of the people I call friends”.
She let the words sink before finishing.
“And that’s why for me, you’re a good person Karin-san” Mana said with conviction “… And the reason why I want to be your friend, too” she added with a bit of shyness.
Her little speech was more or less a coin toss. Maybe it would make Karin see that she wasn’t really a bad person, which was what Mana firmly believed. Or maybe it could piss her off and make her not talk to her again. But the possibility of helping the older girl out was more than worth the risk for Mana.

She stared at the little girl for a bit before snorting a bit. A good natured smirk etched on her usually cold expression. Somehow, she's happy, but at the same time, she's afraid. She's afraid of being betrayed again. She's afraid that being too close on this girl would result that one scene again. Betrayed at really crucial situation, human is like that. Human will turn their back to another if there's a more benefit than the one present...
"...I'm sorry, I can't accept that just yet. I still have no intention to goes buddybuddy on someone."
Is she trying to cheer the younger girl up? Or is she just simply lonely? She doesn't feel like hanging on the thing called 'forever'. Forever is too long, even for her. She don't want to make promises if it'll only broken afterward. Whether it's good or bad, she really doesn't want to be tied just like that. She have no commitment in doing anything...
"...Best if we stay strangers for a while, Tsumura-san. I generally talk well to strangers. Friends... I have no idea when we could reach that stage. All I can say is, I don't want to be betrayed the second time by those that called themselves my friends. That's why, rather than acquaintances, I prefer if we stay 'strangers'. Easier for me to accept."

Even though Karin’s answer had been somewhat negative, for Mana it was just that the girl needed a little bit more time to trust in her. And she guesses it was more or less reasonable, it just wasn’t realistic to think that she would change her personality upside-down in only one evening. And what they had was definitely a start.
She smiled brightly at the older girl and almost made to hug her, but luckily, she stopped in the nick of time.
“Don’t Worry Karin-san! Frien-… Err, strangers are supposed to understand each other! That’s what sntragers are for, don’t you think?” she was obviously interchanging terms, but didn’t seem to mind
As Karin's finished her speech about not wanting herself to be betrayed again, she sighed. Well, at least she made her smirk before she went again on her usual depressing self. But hey, maybe she could solve that too today!
“Well, at least, we seized the day today” she said eyeing Karin’s bags with her new clothes, trying to change from that depressing subject. “Do you have anything else to do today? Because I’m mostly free and maybe you’ll find a stranger’s company pleasant. What do you say, Stranger-san?”

Karin totally sweatdropped at that. The girl is pressing too far about becoming her friend. It's really like Kyo and Yuu forced to switch, and you have this girl and her partner. While this girl isn't as hyper as Kyo, her mannerism reminds Karin a lot about the small Digimon. Perhaps similar peoples attract each other?
"...Ma... Tsumura-san, that's obviously not how strangers act to each other. Please act naturally. If you cannot be strangers with me, then I have no reason to stay civil to you. I hate people who forcefully try to be my friend. I have two set rules: The limit of people I care about is 'Acquaintances, Bestest of Friends and Family'. Your brother fall to the first. The second, I don't have what I call 'Friends'. Those that tries to cross the border from Acquaintance to Friend will be even less than strangers to me. I will lash out without any reservation."
The long haired girl walked out from the shopping place.
"...However, I admit, today was fun. See you, weirdo."
Karin left with a rare smile etched on her face.

Mana couldn’t hide the huge grin that formed on her face when Karin almost called her by her name. She knew that most likely she would get a negative response from the older girl, but it didn’t hurt to try
“You’re totally misinterpreting me, Karin-san. I treat you this way because I treat strangers the same way I would treat friends. But you can have you own opinion about that, I won’t force anything on you".
Then, as she walked away and called her weirdo, Mana could only muster a bigger smile at her as she weaved her goodbye
“Bye bye, Karin-san! See you later!”
As she herself left the mall to begin her way home, Ayaka couldn’t help but to ask.
“Miss Mana, why were you happy when Karin called you weirdo? A lady isn’t supposed to feel happy when she’s insulted” she scolded her
The girl smiled warmly at the little Cormon as she kept walking.
“Isn’t it obvious, Ayaka? Karin-san herself said it” she made her best attempt to mimic Karin’s cold voice “That’s obviously not how strangers act to each other” but obviously only got a sound alike to the one of a pouting little girl. “And strangers don’t call each other weirdos, Ayaka”
The realization clicked on her, and she too smiled
“That means that…”
“Yup, even if she’s not gonna admit it, at least we’re not strangers anymore”
