MPC 101X – MPC 99A: Vitrification Order
I would like Bits for this MPC please.
The days were becoming chilly in Rosewood, in the usual transition from the summer months to the winter months. Yes, the autumn rains had cooled the place down and had removed the dangers of forest fires, but of course the annual cycle continued, turning the rain into snow. It had arrived as sleet at first, but soon the falls would come with great intensity.
It was for this reason that Lewis the Gabumon wanted to explore a part of the forest nearby that he had encountered while foraging as part of his Survival class project, overseen by his father Owen. The assignment was to seek out a part of the forest that had resources, and to explore and secure it. However, the shy young Gabumon didn’t feel confident enough to do it by himself. So he had asked his elder twin brothers Matty the Onmon and Jimmy the Musimon to assist him. And even better, they agreed.
“Ahh, so many favours we can call on for this~” Matty said cheerfully as they were strolling through the forest to a place Lewis had scouted out.
“Well, that’s fair, I don’t have anything to pay you with for this yet…” Lewis admitted, shyly. “But I will in future.”
“Aww, don’t take Matty seriously, Lew. Frankly we love spending time with our little brother.” Jimmy assured him, gripping his shoulder with his ear. “Especially when you’re about to graduate from dad’s classes. Man, you have the whole world ahead of you once you pass them.”
Matty also grinned. “Yeah, don’t take me seriously, mate. We’re just doing what big brothers should do.” then the Onmon’s face grew a little more serious. “So, let’s recap. What exactly did you find out here?”
“I found a big wooden building.” Lewis explained. “It was overgrown with plants, and looked like it hadn’t been used for years… I mean… decades. But I had the feeling that it was important at one point.”
“Ahh, a lost shack in the forest.” Jimmy remarked, then made an excited squealing noise. “Hee~ This sounds so exciting!”
“Hehe, yep.” Matty agreed, and patted Lewis on the back. “And you did right in asking us to come with you, little brother. We’ll do our best to keep you safe.”
Lewis smiled at this. As rowdy as Matty and Jimmy could be, he still trusted them a lot. When it came down to it, they always looked out for him, so therefore he trusted them on this exploration.
Eventually, they came across the building that Lewis had found earlier. A large three-storey wooden house, completely overrun by the surrounding forest, but still had its overall structure intact. The three brothers noted a dominance of large red flowers in the vicinity as well.
“Huh… kinda looks like a school building.” Matty remarked as they got closer. “Yeah, it is! That’s the assembly ground and sportsball court out the front!”
Lewis, Matty and Jimmy finally made their way onto the grounds, Lewis getting a bit of a chill as he stepped onto it. Thankfully his brothers kept up a high degree of morale as they continued forward.
“Hmm. You know, dad’s been meaning to establish a proper school for Rosewood lately.” Jimmy remarked. “While this place is kinda out of the way, maybe this could be it?”
“It’ll need a lot of work though.” Matty replied, not liking what he saw up close. “This wood is rotten. It’ll need some pretty heavy refurbishment.”
“Yeah, I thought the same.” Lewis admitted. “So, should we take a look inside?”
“Oh heck yeah, let’s see what we’ve got!” Jimmy said, enthusiastically walking inside. Matty and Lewis would follow. However, neither of the three noticed the sign, obstructed with vines.
“KEEP OUT”.

Once inside the building, the three digimon were eager to explore. However, they had long since learned the lessons from their father Owen to stay together when doing so. Splitting apart in an unknown place was a very bad idea, and so they made their way around the first floor cautiously, making note of what each room was meant for.
The first room they entered was obviously the entrance, what with lockers, hooks and amenities that represented that. Lewis tested a water fountain, and was surprised to see the water flow. It was disgusting and brown at first, but then eventually grew clear. He even ventured a taste after a while, and found nothing bad about it.
“Fresh running water.” he announced to his brothers. Matty and Jimmy were both surprised by this.
“Well… that’s strange, nobody’s around to keep it that way.” Matty remarked. “Let’s keep looking. This place might not be uninhabited. And it could be safe, especially if the plumbing’s still being kept in order.”
Matty soon regretted his words as they continued down the corridor. Lewis was in the lead, and eventually the Gabumon took a step that could not be supported. The rotten floorboards creaked, then gave way and shattered, but Matty and Jimmy caught their little brother in time and pulled him back to safety.
“Whew, that was close…” Jimmy remarked. “Yeh know I think we should probably head back now, this is probably not something we should explore alone…”
Then suddenly, a pointed tentacle launched from the hole beneath the floorboards, aimed at Lewis. The Gabumon tried to evade, but it simply wrapped around him, then a second later, pulled him down into the depths.
“Shit! No! Lewie!” Matty cried. He then turned to his twin. “Jimmy, we have to go down there and save him!”
“Should we call someone first though?” Jimmy asked, hesitantly.
“No! He’s our little brother! We’re responsible for him!” Matty declared, then jumped down after him. Jimmy had no choice but to follow, but made a point on his D-MR to emit a distress signal for help. Hopefully it would soon come by.
As the Onmon and Musimon landed in the basement, filled with cobwebs and other rot accumulated over the years, they saw what had taken Lewis. A Chrysalimon. It turned out Matty’s call was right, leaving Lewis for a moment longer would have likely resulted in his doom.
Then a new voice spoke, which caught the twins by surprise. ”You’re with the Gabumon, yes? Then join your abilities with mine. Three child level attacks should be enough to ward off an adult level.”
Matty and Jimmy agreed with no hesitation. And thus they launched their attacks at the Chrysalimon.
”Switch Spark!” Matty cried, launching two bursts of lightning at the target.
”Gleaming Bomb!”” Jimmy shouted, hurling a grenade of light elemental energy at the foe. And then their ally performed her attack.
”Diamond Storm!” the digimon now revealed as a Renamon snarled, and launched a barrage of energy leaf arrows at the Chrysalimon. The onslaught was too much, and the Chrysalimon screeched in agony before retreating, and releasing Lewis from its tentacle. The Gabumon fell to the ground, gasping in horror, then he looked up at their sudden acquaintance.
“You… Lieutenant Renamon.” he said. “You were once the enemy of our father… what are you doing here?”
“Hmph. I suppose it was too much to ask for Jaelin’s... I mean, Owen's whelps to say ‘thankyou’.” the Renamon said haughtily in reply. “And to answer your question, I am here because it was a quiet place of refuge, until I found out it was infested by that thing you just fought off.”
“Seriously though… Lieutenant.” Matty said, the Onmon looking serious. “Do you mean us harm here? Swear on your honor as a soldier.”
Lt. Renamon seemed impatient for a moment, but took a deep breath, then assumed a solemn stance. “Very well. I, Lieutenant Renamon, formerly of the DWR Army, now a freelance digimon, swear that I will not harm, or aim to bring any of you three to harm. Your father is no longer my enemy. I merely wish to exist in a new life in the digital world.”
That at least made Matty, Jimmy and Lewis relax.
“However, I have a favour to ask of you three, if you would indulge me.” she continued. By now they noticed the tattered remains of her tunic resembled that of Owen’s. While a different color – a greyish green, but the same design. “I have attempted to make this abandoned schoolhouse within the Timberlands my home, but as long as it is shared with that monster we have temporarily subdued, I cannot feel safe here. I cannot rid of it alone, but if you would team up with me, I believe our forces combined should suffice. What do you say?”
Matty and Jimmy exchanged glances, both of them hesitant, but Lewis spoke first. “Yes, we’ll do that, Lieutenant.” he said. “You helped save my life just now, and I believe you that you mean peace. We’ll help you.”
“Good, I am grateful.” Lt. Renamon replied. “Let’s first find our way back to the entrance. It’s not safe within the building right now.”
For the moment, the three brothers had little choice but to follow the former DWR Lieutenant back up to the first floor and convene in the courtyard.

When the four digimon gathered outside, Lt. Renamon quickly surveyed their surroundings, then when determined it was safe, turned to speak to the three brothers. “Alright, it’s best that we go over this plan quickly. We landed three solid blows on Chrysalimon, so we should strike again as quickly as we can before it gets the chance to heal.” she turned to Lewis. “I presume you have the ability to fight too?”
“Yeah, I do. My dad taught me.” Lewis replied, confidently, then lowered his gaze with an expression of shame. “It’s just Chrysalimon caught me off guard… it was gripping me too tightly, I couldn’t get enough breath to attack.”
“I see, understandable.” Lt. Renamon said, nodding with sympathy. “But the key thing is that all three of you are capable of ranged attacks, yes?”
“Yeh, we are.” Matty said. Lt. Renamon nodded again and paced momentarily as she thought up a plan.
"Matty... Jimmy..." Lewis breathed, somewhat unbelieving that they would trust her so easily after that. But it seemed that they did, and he would hold no objection to it.
“Well then, ranged attacks will be our key to victory.” she eventually said. “Given that you have been trained in combat by Owen, you understand the value of shooting from cover, yes?”
“Of course we do.” Jimmy answered. “Fire from cover, then retreat to escape their counter-attack. Use corners and obstacles to get out of their line of sight.”
A smile crossed Lt. Renamon’s face. “Good, then I’m presuming you know my proposed strategy. All four of us cycle attacks, one after another, then retreat to cover so that the next can attack. When Chrysalimon turns to strike back, the next of us initiates the strike. We continue until it is neutralized. Do you think yourselves capable of this strategy, sons of Owen?”
Matty, Jimmy and Lewis exchanged nervous glances. Combat with a champion level with no backup was not something they had experienced before. Yet there was an air of determination about Lt. Renamon that they felt they could trust. This was indeed a soldier digimon in front of them, and she spoke with the gravitas of an officer.
“Yeh, we can do it.” Matty said. Jimmy and Lewis nodded with agreement.
“Very well then. In my time living here, I know that Chrysalimon is the only hostile digimon present, there are no backups. I picked them off myself over the past few months. The others are back at the Village of Beginnings, hopefully considering their chances at new life carefully. So we have the one target. We must converge on it from different directions.”
The plan of attack was proposed and agreed to. Matty and Jimmy would approach through the two staircases down into the basement from the gymhouse. Lewis would take the stairwell, and Lt. Renamon would take the newly formed hole from the rotting floorboards that Lewis had been taken down into. And Renamon would make the first strike, the Onmon, Musimon and Gabumon would advance and follow once she had struck first.
The brothers were nervous, this was the first time they had done an operation like this, but they held their confidence. They had been trained by their fathers, they felt ready.
”Diamond Storm!”
They heard, then they advanced. Matty and Jimmy saw the back of Chrysalimon while Lewis saw it from the side as it faced Renamon, launching a counter-attack of its own back at her. Matty and Jimmy took the chance and struck.
”Switch Spark!” ”Gleaming Bomb!”
Their attacks struck true. Chrysalimon turned to face them, but Lewis, determined to make up for his earlier failure to strike, inhaled and roared ”Blue Blaster!” sending a stream of blue fire at the virus digimon, before retreating behind the stair railings.
“Excellent! Keep up the cycle!” Lt. Renamon encouraged them, but before she could fire off another Diamond Storm, Chrysalimon quickly turned to face her, lashing out with two tendrils and wrapped them around her. She cried out in pain as Chrysalimon silently sent forth a burst of electricity through them.
It seemed Chrysalimon had picked up on their pattern, and turned to face the direction where Matty and Jimmy were taking cover, four further tendrils ready for them.
“D-damn it…!” Lt. Renamon grunted with pain. “It caught on… quicker than I thought…”
Lewis then recognized what he needed to do. The Gabumon was the only one the Chrysalimon was not paying attention to right now. But he had over-exerted himself with his Blue Blaster. He couldn’t use it again for a bit, not until he had regained his breath. And so he did what was probably the most foolish thing of his life so far.
He launched a Horn Attack at Chrysalimon’s back. He tried to be quick and silent about it, but tendrils quickly rushed up to face him, their claws aimed at his face.
“NO!!! LEWIS!!” Matty and Jimmy screamed, then in that moment, the twins felt an instant burst of their own power, deep from within. They saw their little brother about to be struck. The resulting bursting light filled the basement, causing Chrysalimon to pause from its intensity.
”Onmon digivolve to… Logimon!” ”Musimon digivolve to… Mediamon!”
The Chrysalimon silently turned to face the newly evolved digimon. Even though it didn’t speak, it recognized their threat level instantly. So much so that it halted its attack on Lewis and released Renamon, turning to face the twin Champion levels, all tendrils braced and prepared.
Neither Matty or Jimmy were prepared to give up this initiative. Owen had trained them for this moment, and it was their little brother’s life on the line. Their next moves had to be decisive.
”Storm Bolt!” Matty snarled, and cast a bolt of lightning straight at Chrysalimon. Blue sparks of electricity shot through its body, and it screeched in agony.
”Aurora Beam!” Jimmy cried, and a glowing rainbow sphere of light glowed in his mouth, before firing a prismatic wave of light at the enemy digimon. Its tendrils began to frost over from the ice energy of the attack.
”Tohakken!” Renamon then struck Chrysalimon from behind, delivering a powerful downward kick, her foot glowing with blue flames.
This triple flurry attack had clearly done enough damage. Chrysalimon’s body shimmered, then shattered into data. None of the four digimon made any impediment to it as it headed back to the village of beginnings. When their adrenaline faded, the four of them panted from the effort. Lewis was the first to speak.
“Matty, Jimmy, you digivolved!” he exclaimed. “Dad and Papa are gonna be so happy about that!”
“Hmm. But you did not.” Lt. Renamon noted. “Why is that, I wonder?”
These words struck Lewis harder than he was prepared for. The Gabumon immediately looked ashamed. “Well… I mean I tried to, but, I didn’t feel anything…”
“Hey hey, now, let’s not get into that.” Jimmy said, cheerfully interjecting. “We’re all safe now and that’s the main thing!”
“Yup, that’s right isn’t it, Lt. Renamon?” Matty asked. “We helped you get rid of your unwelcome houseguest. That’s a debt repaid, I think?”
Lt. Renamon paused, then nodded. “I suppose it is.” she said. “However, now that this building is free from hostiles, I presume it’s no longer going to be just my house, is it?”
“Well… if you really want to be left alone, we won’t come back.” Lewis said. “It’s just… our dad would really like to help run a school for young digimon, and this building would be perfect for it… after some renovations of course. But if you don’t want that, we won’t tell anyone about this place.”
Lt. Renamon was silent for a while after this. Since getting to terms with her new life in the digital world after the fall of the DWR, she had been something of a hermit, living away from the goings-on. However, as she closed her eyes and imagined this building filled with the enthusiastic bright eyes of young digimon, learning the ways of the world for themselves before being thrust into it, she thought she would rather like that.
“No, it’s fine. You tell Owen about this place.” she said. “For the moment, I’ll protect it from further intruders. I will remark though, you three conducted yourselves well.” she smiled at them. “It was almost like I was commanding my old platoon again. Well done, Matty, Jimmy and Lewis. I look forward to seeing you again some day.”
With that, there was little else to be said. Lt. Renamon remained in guard of the abandoned schoolhouse, as the three brothers returned to Rosewood to report on what they had found here this day.
