MPC Secret Santa
Christmas was almost a foreign holiday to Blake’s family. Considering how hard it was to make it a special holiday back then, these days, it’s easier. On the other hand, all that Christmas mattered to them was mainly a time of giving or spending time with one another. And today was certainly no different. Minus the decorations. While they’ve managed to get a tree in, they weren’t able to get Christmas themed decorations in time before everything was sold out.
Though it didn’t really matter as long as everyone was here that is. Well, everyone except Renamon of course. Considering how Blake hasn’t told his parents or his family members that he has a digimon that “kicks ass and chews bubblegum.”, he would rather keep it that way for the sake of their safety.
Nonetheless, his relatives slowly poured in the house as they were rather impressed by his father and mother’s dedication to their jobs finally paying off. When Blake introduced himself to his relatives, they were rather surprised by the sophisticated wardrobe. Everyone except for his cousin, laughing at how he was wearing his hand-me-downs. His father would chuckle as he motioned everyone to sit around the dinner table as their Christmas Dinner began.
After Blake had his fill of conversations and food, he was heading upstairs to his room with a plate of roast beef and mashed potatoes alongside some fork and knife utensils to coincide as he approached his door. In the process of turning the knob of it, he looked back to the stairs before looking back at the door, turning it completely and heading inside his room.
Considering how much his father comes into his room to chat to his son, Blake makes sure to keep it tidy and pigsty-less to say the least though, part of it is because the boxes in his closet contain most of the stuff he brought with him during the move to Japan. The only things that are considered out-of-place would be a couple posters of Danko Jones next to a small window and a vintage boombox on his nightstand next to his bed. As near empty as it is, it was still a safe-space to jam out when his parents were away.
Approaching the nightstand, he placed the food on top of it as he opened the drawer to grab his digi-vice. Turning around, he pressed a button before a stream of 1’s and 0’s poured out to formulate Renamon, meditating. It looked as if he was too focused, not noticing his presence has shifted into the human world. “You good?” Blake spoke before kneeling down in front of him. Renamon would slowly open his eyes, noticing his change in landscape. “Is there something you-”
Renamon would stop as his eyes widened, standing up to rush to the small window as it appeared that it was snowing rather harshly. “Is today Christmas?” He asked Blake urgently while looking at the snow falling on the already snow-covered ground. Blake couldn’t help, but feel confused by his behavior, as he stood up, scratching the back of his head. “It’s technically Christmas Eve so, I think so? I did bring some food up if you wanted-”
Renamon would sprint towards his closet, opening it, as he leaned in with his torso to move the boxes by stacking all of them to the other side, seemingly looking for something. Blake couldn’t help, but slowly walked towards his partner, leaning in to try and see what he was looking for. He didn’t have to wait for long as Renamon breathed a sigh of relief as he turned to hold out to Blake what appears to be a medium-sized square-shaped box with uneven wrapping and a tacky bowtie. Blake would tilt his head in confusion as his eyes lit up to quickly figure out what it was. “Oh! I forgot to tell you that we usually unwrap our gifts on Christmas Day…” He trailed off, chuckling. Renamon would squint a bit as he shook his head. “May as well open it now. Besides, suppose your relatives would ask too many questions if I placed it under the Christmas tree.” Renamon replied with urgency.
“Jeez, why so hasty?” Blake said with a curious tone. Renamon would lightly shake his paws with the gift, tilting his head inward as Blake takes the gift by grabbing it from both sides. With one hand, Blake would tear apart the mediocre wrapping, not bothering to take the bow off as it fell to the floor with the wrapping. He would then proceed to open the cardboard lid as it revealed the gift to be a vinyl set of Danko Jones. “I figured since you listen to them on near-repeat whenever you’re at home, I thought you’d maybe want more of it.” Renamon would say as he placed his left hand on his right, twisting it out of nervousness. He would witness Blake’s shock as his tamer’s jaw slowly opened and then closed. “H-how did you get this?” Blake asked Ren. “You gave me money the other week, didn't you? I had to borrow one of your hoodies and jeans to pull it off. It didn’t help that I had to constantly tell people I was cosplaying while my tail kept sticking out considering-”
“You don’t need to say anymore.” Blake would say, cutting him off. While he didn't know who gave Ren the funds for it, it wasn't something that Blake thought about at this time. “I actually have something for you as well.” He smirked as he walked to his bed to put down the vinyl set as he went to his nightstand to open the bottom drawer. He would then take out what appeared to be a small device of some sort that looked like a badge. “I went to that Terminus place and got a holo-suit for you. I had it custom-designed to where you can just wear it like a badge. I haven’t thought about what appearance you should take though, I figured you’d want to pick.”
Renamon’s eyes would look down at the device as his hand motioned Blake to give it to him. His tamer would hand it over as he held it in between his paws as he flipped them to see the back of it. “I should’ve gotten you one earlier, now that I think about it though, I didn’t think it would be a big deal since you’re kind of a stealthy guy and all.” Blake would say before Renamon gave the badge back to Blake. The blank expression Ren gave to his tamer made Blake unsure. “Y-you don’t have to accept it, my guy, I can just get you some-”
“Thank you, Blake.” Ren would say sweetly with a small smile, cutting Blake off as his tamer stopped talking. Blake was dumbfounded by what he said as he looked over at the vinyl set and back at the holo-suit device he was holding. “But, this was something essential, right? Weren’t you drilling me into getting stuff from that place that are essential to us or somethin’?” Blake asked his partner.
“But, this was a gift was it not? I do believe I heard from your father a couple months back from hiding in the closet that it’s the thought that counts, isn't it?” He replied. “That was before you installed the v-pet function on your digivice.”
Blake couldn’t help, but breathe a sigh of relief. “Okay, good. Because I thought I had to make it up to you by running 20 laps around the track or something.” He said nervously, chuckling before Renamon crossed his arms. “You know, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea.” Ren would snidely say. “Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” Blake would retort. Ren would slowly come up close to him before saying “May I?” as Blake would slowly nod in confusion. “I believe this is done after gifts are exchanged.” Bending his legs, Ren would wrap his arms around him, his head on his shoulder. “Merry Christmas.” he said before bringing his arms back and standing. “Don’t get used to that. And please DON’T tell anyone.” He said to his tamer with caution.
Blake’s reaction to the hug was rather so-so though he didn’t want to ruin the moment. “I wouldn't do that. And,” He said before his hand balled up into a fist as he held it out. “Back in New Orleans, we just fistbump and shiz. I’m not into hugs.” He said before Renamon looked at Blake’s fist and nodded. “That would be more preferable.” Before Renamon balled up his paw to make a fist and held it out as well. Blake and Ren’s fist would bump each other as Blake opened his hand to have it rise above his head. “Pkowwww!” Blake would shout out before Ren and Blake chuckled with each other.

The door to Blake’s room was open slightly as his father listened to their conversation. Sighing, he shook his head, looking down at his wallet and back at the crack. “You’ll tell me eventually.” He muttered under his breath as he puts his wallet in his pocket and started tip-toeing downstairs to clean up.
