Tatsuya looked at the train station with a sigh. He had promised to take Dodomon to a nearby lake next to Mount Fuji so they could leave the city in order to be a little more relaxed. That way, his partner could wander free without anybody near. He quickly felt a jostling movement inside is backpack. -Tatsuya, I'm getting tiwed of waiting! -the bag revolted, as the Tamer had to play dumb in front of three adults that were sitting next to him. As they left, taking him for crazy, he directed a hiss towards his Digimon. -Shut up, Dorimon! There are many people here! -again, he made the mistake of mentioning humans. The jostling got stronger.
-Lwet them come! I'll bweat them and then thewe won't be as many! -he proudly stated. As punishment, the teen leaned backwards, slightly squeezing his partner against the seat, recieving a bite as payback. -Ouch! Calm down, Dodomon, we are about to enter the damn station, ok? Now, quit doing that -the Tamer asked, getting a "hmpf" from the little Fresh Digimon.
Finally, after fifteen minutes, their train was announced to come, five minutes later than the marked schedule. Public transport was never punctual, anyway. They had to get going, because they would have to take the lift to go to the underground station, although there was almost nobody around since it was 11 o'clock of a sunny Monday. Still, as he advanced further into the structure, he couldn't help but to have an ominous feeling about his surroundings. There was something wierd going on there, although he couldn't tell.
Soon enough, Dodomon jostled in his bag furiously, without saying a word. Sighing a deep breath, Tatsuya decided to let him pop out of the cloth structure, given there was nobody around to watch. To his surprise, no sarcastic coments were said by the young Digimon. Instead, he jumped out of the bag and started running down the corridors.
-Dodomon! Where are you going?! Wait!!! -Tatsuya yelled, pursuing his partner. The Fresh-level pounced as fast as he could, a serious expression down his face. It was calling him back.

The tiny digimon rushed towards an elevator's door, which were about to close. Burning all the energy he could, the Tamer sprinted in order to reach the same place as his partner. He was able to make it in time, miraculously. Catching his breath, he quickly shouted at his partner. -What the hell?! What were you thinking about?! What if somebody saw you?! -asked Tatsuya, angered by Digimon's actions. He expected a sarcastic and aggresive replay, not to see him... scared?
-... I won't wun again. Nevew... I won't... -the tiny being muttered, as he looked from the elevator window. They weren't moving, but soon enough, Tatsuya's device started glowing. As he pulled out, there was only something to be read. "Digital Gate has Opened". At that instant, the elevator rushed down in a pace that scared the eighteen year old, whose first instinct was to grab Dodomon and hold him tight, attempting to protect the little being from any harm, but the Digimon broke free with a quick movement.
In a matter of seconds, the elevator stopped violently, shaking both Digimon and Tamer and leaving them unconscious. Tatsuya would wake up in a matter of minutes, only to find Dodomon already awake. -Ow... what the hell... -the teen mumbled for the second time in the day.
Slowly, the doors opened in a calm pace. The other side was completely dark, nothing to be seen, not even silohuettes. Scratching his head in pain, the teen got up just as his Digimon exited the lift, following the little being. As he stepped out, lights illuminated the place. It seemed like another station, but different. Nobody was around, no trains were to be seen. Except for a sinister, dark one which was illuminated by red lights around its wagons.
-What... is this place...? -a rethorical question that should have not been answered by anyone left the Tamer's lips. Soon, an echoing voice met his question. -It is where you will face your destiny, and choose, boy -a heavy, low male voice came to his ears, but he could not locate the source. Looking for anything around him, he could only see Dodomon shivering. -I... I have to... go... bwack... But I... Damnit!!!! -Dodomon growled, and jumped inside the train. Without thinking, Tatsuya followed him, and entered the first wagon. Just as he stepped in, the train slowly started moving towards an unknown location, and the lights went out again.

As the train slowly departed, Tatsuya found himself blinded by the dark aura inside of the wagon. He kept calling his Digimon, but didn't get an answer in return. What the heck was happening there? A train that seemed to move on its own, with no lights inside it, his partner gone missing inside it... What was that supposed to mean?
-Darn.. Where has he gone? Damn, I've got no time to think about that! -the teen muttered. They were going to be taken somewhere unknown, and he had already guessed that the trip wasn't going to be pleasant. -It is as you said, kid. You don't have time to think. It's time you decide... what do you want to do?
Immediately after, Tatsuya entered battle stance. -Who's there? Show yourself! -Hmpf. There is no need to... you are inside me -the voice spoke, with a sinister chuckle. -What? -Tatsuya asked, cautiously. Immediately after, the darkness cleared slightly, and he was able to see Dodomon, which was trembling, his eyes completely closed, as if he refused to look. Darkness surrounded him, but it was translucid enough to let him see that his partner was suffering.
-Who are you...? What are you doing to him!? -the teen wouldn't do anything else than spit questions to the mysterious being that held them captive. He tried to approach Dodomon, but he felt heavy and dizzy, and fell to the ground in the effort.
-I am the Dark Trailmon. I was the one who called your Digimon -the ominous voice could be heard once again resonating inside the wagon. The male teenager tried to stand up and reach his partner, but it was futile. His struggle was in vain. Never in his life had he felt as powerless as that moment. -What...? I don't understand, but... release me and Dodomon! -the Tamer demanded, recieving that annoying chuckle. -Oh, but I can't do that. Not before you make your choice.
-All you do is keep blabbering about something about a decision. Cut the crap! I'm getting... utterly tired of talking with something that speaks nonsense! -Tatsuya was already sick of the being, even though it had just begun talking. Still, seeing Dodomon hurt made him feel angry.
It was then when his partner spoke. -No... no... plwease... -the small baby Digimon cried, as if death itself was meeting his gaze. The Tamer growled. -I'll ask again... What are you doing to him? -Tatsuya questioned, slightly rising his head. -Tatsuya Kazan. The game to decide your future has begun. So... what will you do?Rather... what would you want to do? Will you withdraw? Or keep going?

The boy gasped. How did that know his name? There was no logical explanation! -I bet you are trying to figure out the situation. Let me assure you, this is serious. Will you walk down the path I present you? Or deny it? -the Dark Trailmon asked Tatsuya.
-What? -I offer you the chance of going back. Back to how life was before. No Digimon. You, living your life. However, there is only one opportunity. Do not waste your answer -the Trailmon seemed to be mocking him with his last sentence. Tatsuya thought about what Charles told him when they had first met. He didn't ask to be a Tamer, nor he found great pride on being one. For the first time, now that he had been offered an alternative, he began thinking about that.
At the same time, Dodomon began to scream. -AAAAAAHHHH! -yelled the Fresh-level, suffering. -Don't worry. I'm also making him a question. And he just gave me the wrong answer... I can also hear your thoughts while inside me. Even like that, Dodomon had kept his cocky attitude, and had probably disrespected the Dark Trailmon, which resulted in pain.
-What's the other choice? -To continue with this journey... one which will make you lose everything. Walking down this path will totally change your life. "Normal person" will not be a term to describe you. You might lose your family, loved ones, and ultimately, yourself. That can be the price to pay if you keep walking the wrong road -Tatsuya laughed. As a threat, it seemed to vague.
-Oh... You don't believe me. See for yourself, then! -the Trailmon yelled, darkness covering Tatsuya's eyes once again. He was forced to close his eyes, and then, a series of images appeared. What he saw made him scream. He saw something that looked like Dorimon, but bigger-sized, facing his little brother and parents. With a creepy smile, the creature grew into a gigantic creature, whose arms were metallic pieces floating around, joined by what seemed to be Digital Tissue. As the humans screamed in terror, the creature released an energy beam, making them vanish along with all the surroundings inside the wave.
The voice then filled his ears again. -This is most likely what will happen. Let me tell you something. That beast was your partner. He will grow, and become a threat to everyone. So let me have him... Let me ease you of the burden -Tatsuya was left speechless as he was brought back to reality, only to see Dodomon, still shivering.
-So? What will it be, then?

-Will you then go back to your own world, or will you still dive into the depths... of the Digital World? -the voice asked, slightly thrilled. Tatsuya found that he could finally move once again, but didn't stand up. He still had to think about that. He looked at Dodomon, who now had his "back" turned on him. He did not shiver in fear anymore.
-Come on. Go, I dwon't need youw help -Dodomon said, trying to appear cool, but he was slightly sad. Tatsuya had been nice to him, but only because he was forced to. He had also heard what the Dark Trailmon had told his Tamer, and it could actually be true, which meant that, from now on, he would be on his own... again.
The brown-haired teenager stood up, looking at the ground. Return to his world, out of all that mess... just as if nothing had happened... It sounded tempting. Too good to be true, as if it was a dream. -Why are you making me choose? -asked Tatsuya, still not believing a word.
-Hmpf. Easy enough. I'm just... interested in you, Tamer. Oh, I know this Digimon's past... trust me. After all... he's been here before, haven't you... Dorumon? -the Dark Trailmon asked in a low voice, making Dorimon gasp. Dorumon... that was the name of his Rookie form. It was true. He had forgotten, but he had been here before. It was when...
-Only where there's no place left to go, will the Dark Terminal appear. And it is I, the Dark Trailmon, the one that travels on these rails... But enough! I want to know, human... what will you do? Will you finally acknowledge your position and leave? Or will you be foolish enough to continue, despite my warnings? I will not wait any longer. If you don't answer, you'll be plunged into the Dark Area -the train warned him.
The teenager clenched his fists. He had promised that he would raise Dodomon, but... -"Wait, that's it. I promised I would raise him, even though I didn't know. However... that doesn't have to do anything with me..." -the teen thought. Just as he was struggling, Dorimon talked, still imprisoned by the shadowy haze. -I told you, I dwon't need you. You said I could lweave whenevew I wanted, wight? You can... dwo the same -the In-Training told his Tamer.
Yes, that was true. They weren't partners at all, it was just a bargain. The only proof of their bond was the Digivice... or was it? -"At that time... I risked my life to save him... Yeah, I did, and he is doing the same now. Then why am I hesitating?" -the brown-haired teen thought, grabbing his Digivice from his pocket.
-Wait! I won't go to the Digital World! -he finally said. A good choice, indeed. The Trailmon was about to speak more, but just as Dorimon's ears lowered, Tatsuya spoke again. -But he comes with me. I'm not leaving him alone -the Tamer stated. Instantly, he was bounded to the ground again. -You human... Don't you dare mock me! -the Trailmon groaned, tightening the grip around both human and Digimon.
-Let me ask you something... Who do you think you are to tell me... what my future will be?! I am the one who decides his fate... And I've finally made a choice. I know you want Dorimon for some reason, but he is coming with me. We are partners... and partners take care of each other! -Tatsuya's device began to glow, as light enveloped Dorimon. -Tatsuya... Dowimon, shinka...! The fur was ripped apart from his body, as his body and limbs extended and gained wings on its back. Slowly, the body skin began to reassemble around the Digital tissue, from the lowest part of the body to the head. The light bubble bursted, as the Dragon digimon landed near his partner, dissipating the darkness around them.
-Dorumon! -the Rookie level roared, being now able to speak like an adult instead of the baby pitch of his previous forms. Tatsuya was amazed: it had grown to the size of a large dog! -Okay, pal... Let's get out of here! -that was the plan, but Tatsuya found the door locked.
-Leave that to me! Metal Cannon! -Dorumon called out, as he spat a metal ball towards the door, breaking it. The duo then jumped out of the Trailmon to find themselves... Inside a cave.

The Dark Trailmon roared, infuriated. How dared they? Their punishment would be slow and painful once he got them to acknowledge that they had no escape now. -Fools! Darkness will consume you... you can't hide from me in here -the Ultimate level roared, as he released the shadows from within to the outside. Almost immediately, they took the form of various Digimon Tatsuya had never seen. They were outnumbered, and their rival was far more powerful. The shadows cornered them against a rocky pillar. -So... will you surrender now? Accept your fate, Dorumon. You'll always be weak, no matter what. And Tatsuya... you know that, deep inside, you desire to abandon him and beg me to send you back right now.-We don't know if we are beaten until we try. I swear that we will beat you, and build our own future in both of the worlds!-Why...? Why do you keep fighting back? Rejecting salvation? Turning down my offer? -the dark digimon asked the human. Tatsuya detected a shiver in its voice tone. What could be going on...? Anyway, he already had his answer to that question. -Because I will not give up! I've never done that in my life, and this time it won't be different!-Tatsuya...? -Dodomon asked. He had never seen him like that. -I know we can do it. As you said, I am the one who decides my destiny! And it won't be any of your options... I'm taking my partner and my life back! Both of them! -Tatsuya said, determination filling his heart. At that instant, the rock pillar bursted open, with a glow inside. Tatsuya fell to the ground, stood on four and looked behind him. An big egg-like item was floating. It was purple coloured on top, had steel blades on the lower part, and two bat-like wings growing out of it. His Digivice then moved on its own, and forced his hand to point it at the strange relic. Another beam of light attracted the item, absorbing it into the device. An hologram popped. DIGIMENTAL OF DETERMINATION: ACQUIRED As the flashes ended, Tatsuya gasped. -What...?-Congratulations, boy. You have surpassedthey trial. -the Dark Trailmon said, the shadows disappearing as the cave got illuminated. -What do you mean?! -the Tamer demanded to know. -For many years I have been guarding this Digimental of Determination. When your Dorumon entered my train, I knew he had the power to awaken it. He just needed a Tamer with the same quality, and it seems you posess it. I'm deeply sorry for doing that to both your Digimon and yourself, but it was the only way to know if you truly are a determined person.Tatsuya sat to the ground, sighing in relief. -Whew... thanks, I guess... But what do I do with the "Digimental"?-I was hoping you asked. Go on, say "Digimental Up" while pointing your D-3 at Dorumon.Doing as he was told, he pronounced the words. -Digimental Up!A beam of light came from his device, hitting Dorumon. -Dorumon...! Armor shinka...! -the dog-sized Digimon said as he fused with the item. A dark aura covered its body, which then grew spontaneously, acquiring the size of a huge wolf. The aura dissipated as blades grew out of its paws and the skin covered its new body. Aditionally, four bat-like wings covered the sides of its snout and mane. -The shadow of determination, Sangloupmon! An amazed Tatsuya met his new partner, impressed. That was very cool! It had evolved twice in a matter of seconds. -Now, Tatsuya Kazan. Ride your Digimon and pass through the portal at the entrance of the cave. You will exit near Terminus city, capital of the Digital World. Now go! Keep showing the world the same determination you awakened the Digimental with! -the Dark-Trailmon bade them farewell as it vanished, its secondary task completed. -Up for a ride? -the wolf-like creature asked. -Sure. Let's go! -Tatsuya jumped atop his partner, and grabbed onto his mane. Sangloupmon howled, and ran towards the portal, jumping through it. What would await them on the other side? The Digital World, of course. END THREAD
