A Trailmon came to a stop not far from a small village in the Digital Core. The doors were barely open before a Kunemon named Masamune carrying a katana called Tenken upon his back hopped out. Landing on the ground with a soft grunt the insect swordsmon looked in the direction of a river before looking ahead seeing a village near it. Sure he wasn't close enough to see the buildings well but after scooting on his little legs for awhile the small bug digimon knew he would be there in merely a couple hours at most. Masamune scooted along following the river just in case he grew thirsty since the water was sparkling and clean.
After a couple hours he reached the entrance of the village and the sight was fascinating to the Kunemon who had spent most of his life in a forest. The buildings of this village had an ancient but elegant scheme humans would likely recognize as structures common during Japan's Edo period and digimon of various sizes and evolutionary levels with some wielding swords seemed to be going about there business in a peaceful manner.
Masamune was looking around the village in awe taking in the sights before stopping at some food cart that was operated by grizzled old Piximon bearing various battle scars. Despite that the Piximon had a kind appearance and mentioned the many kinds of foods he sold and it was a vast menu that could accomodate many dietary needs. Sure Masamune didn't need anything fancy but he was a vegetarian with the only kind of animal matter he could ingest was dairy products. Giving the insect equivalent of a smile he asked for a vegetarian burrito. The many food carts had to be the most modern looking things in this village but didn't ruin the simplistic beauty the village possessed. After paying for his veggie burrito he scooted out of another potential customers way and began to eat.

Ryu groaned as he looked around at the Digital World's version of an Edo village. This wasn't their destination in the first place. In fact, they had to stop here so he and Daten could transfer Trailmon to get to Eastern Timberlands. But since they weren't coming until tomorrow or so, they might as well find somewhere to stay until then. Although, not everyone was happy to hear the news.
"Are we there yet, Ryu?" Daten whined. "Are we there yet? Why aren't we there yet?"
Ryu was almost losing his patience, but he managed to take a deep breath before turning to his Digimon. "Server Woods is miles away from here. We can't get there on foot unless we spend days or months. And with the next Trailmon to Eastern Timberlands won't arrive until tomorrow, we might as well spend some time here until then."
"Awww... But we promised Ferrost we get there by now..."
"I know, but that doesn't mean we're racing against the clock. Remember what she said. The villagers managed to get away from their attackers and it might take a while for them to regroup back to their village. So we have no choice but to pray that they're okay." Ryu then patted Keramon's large head. "Don't worry, I didn't forget our promise. We will stop the raiders and save the village."
Daten nodded. "Yeah! We will show those bad guys not to mess with them!" But then, they heard someone's stomach rumbling. "But first, I'm hungry."
Ryu's eyes widened, realizing where they were now. "Before you start eating the sign or any of the buildings, let's find somewhere to eat. I'm sure they have some Japanese food in this village."
Looking around at their new surroundings, Ryu was amazed to see that the village they were currently in reminded him of those samurai movies he watched on the internet with Akito. He didn't know how the Digimon built them, but he was impressed at this. Eventually, they found a food cart where they saw a pixie-like Digimon behind the cart along with a worm-like Digimon eating some kind of burrito.
"Wait here, bud." Daten followed his order before Ryu approached the Digimon in charge of the cart. "So... Do you have any ramen on your menu?"

Masamune's antenna vibrated as the Kunemon picked up a rumbling stomach but he was more focused on finishing his veggie burrito. Just as he finished a human came up to the cart causing Masamune to watch with curiosity as Ryu as the old Piximon if he had ramen on the menu. The scared old Piximon turned a warm smile on the young man before he said "Why yes I do. My menu is diverse and even able to accommodate many dietary needs. How many do you need?"
Ryu wasn't the only curiosity that peaked Masamune's attention as two digimon, a Greymon and a Garurumon, walked by talking about a curious digi egg at the local shrine that was obviously one for armor digivolution. The shrine had become a bit of a tourist attraction where various digimon passing through the town would try and lift the digimental after hearing the story of the digimental from the shrine keeper that was. Scooting over to the Greymon and Garurumon, he asked "Excuse me, kew. Can you tell me where the shrine is, kew?" The honorable warrior was now fascinated in seeing it. The pair smiled giving directions to the young Kunemon. Masamune then looked back at the human before scooting back toward the cart stopping near Ryu before he asked "Hey were is your partner, kew? Or have you not met them yet, kew? Or maybe are you a spirit wielder, kew?"

Ryu grinned at the good news. "Awesome! So they have ramen in the Digital World, huh? I have two bowls of shio ramen, please."
He quickly sat down and gestured Daten to come, who was still waiting from afar. At least the food problem was solved for now. But as he waited, he heard some Digimon talking about a Digimental sitting at the tourist attraction of the village. He was interested, but he and Daten had their eyes set on another Digimental at the Server Woods, something they vowed to protect.
Then, he noticed the worm Digimon approached him with some questions. He was perplexed to see it have a katana on its back, something that a worm shouldn't have as a weapon. Yet he was willing to answer some of them while he waited. "I don't know what a Spirit User is, but I do have a partner."
All of the sudden, Ryu's Keramon popped right behind his Tamer and said, "And that partner is me! Hello!"
Ryu was startled at his greeting before he caught his breath. "Hey, I told you. Scaring someone to greet them only works on people you knew."
"Sorry, I can't help it," Daten apologized.
Ryu then turned to the Kunemon. "And sorry about him. He's Daten and I'm Ryu Yoshida. This is actually our first trip in the Digital World."

Piximon smiled in return before he said "Two bowls of shio ramen coming right up." Piximon got to work on the food while Ryu sat down to wait before calling his partner over. Fortunately for such eager youngsters ramen tended to not take long to prepare.
Masamune cocked his head seeming confused by Ryu's words before he said "You don't know what a spirit wielder is, kew? You must not of met one yet, kew. A spirit wielder is a human who digivolves by channeling the spirit of a dead digimon, kew. I haven't met one myself though, kew."
When Daten popped up right behind Ryu Masamune jumped spewing silk which snagged the hilt of his katana before he calmed down. So instead of drawing the Tenken his insect silk vanished back into his mandible as the honorable warrior took a deep comforting breath. As he calmed down Ryu admonished his partner for scaring Masamune and the Keramon that Ryu introduced as Daten apologized. "It's okay, kew. Mischief is not an uncommon trait for virus attribute digimon like your partner or myself, kew. Just some act on the impulses more than others, kew." Masamune then bowed politely as he said "Allow me to introduce myself, kew. My name is Masamune and I am merely a humble swordsmon and wanderer, kew."
Meanwhile Piximon called out "Order up. Enjoy your food." With the bowls of ramen were chopsticks so they could be eaten.
"Perhaps when you two are finished, if you are interested that is, we can go to a shrine I learned the directions to so we can see not only the shrine but the digimental I heard about, kew. If it is basically in that shrine it must have some importance, kew." Masamune said.

Ryu was surprised to learn about Spirit Users. A human Digivolving into a Digimon sounded cool, yet he was a bit disturbed that they have to channel the spirits of those who were deceased to do so.
Also, he was relieved that the Kunemon understood his situation. Ryu loved his Keramon as a friend and partner, but due to his tendencies to overdo his pranks, he has to be stern to make sure he won't make too much trouble for everyone including his father, who was still clueless about his presence. Although he was surprised a worm-like Pokemon was actually a wandering swordsman. He didn't know how could he wield a sword without any limbs, but he rather not ask more questions about it.
Eventually, their bowls of ramen arrived and Ryu and Daten happily accepted them as they grabbed the chopsticks Piximon provided.
"Yay! I can try ramen! And they are made of data, too!" Daten cheered.
"Glad you like it. But don't play with your food while you eat, okay?" Ryu instructed before he turned to Masamune. "And sure. Our train ride to our destination won't be here until tomorrow, so we're interested. Although, we're more interested in seeing it than trying to take it."
"Yeah! We're eyeing another Digimental somewhere in Eastern Timberlands!"
Ryu frowned and gently elbowed his partner. "Hey, not too much information, Daten. But he's right. We're curious about the Digimental when we first heard it and we want to see it before we head to our destination."

Masamune grinned at Daten's eagerness and Ryu told his partner not to play with his food while eating it. Then when Ryu mentioned their Trailmon traveling to their destination won't arrive there until tomorrow it peaked Masamune's attention before he said "Hey I come from the Eastern Timberlands myself, kew. I guess my ride here wasn't the only Trailmon heading out here since I didn't see you two on the Trailmon I arrived in, kew." Unknown to the group there was someone from the shadows listening in. However the digimental in the Eastern Timberlands didn't catch the mysterious digimon's attention but the one at the shrine did. Sure they knew that only the one destined could move the digimental but it was worth getting to the potential power. The unknown digimon cruelly grinned. The stranger was not against letting the group get there first as they were not above wiping them out after learning more about the digimental at the shrine.
"I get Daten's excitement, kew. Merely the opportunity to see digimentals alone is exciting even if not the one the digimental was destined for, kew." Masamune said wiggling as if Daten's excitement was contagious. "When I rode the Trailmon that was my first time leaving the safety of the forest I was born in, kew."

Ryu slightly chuckled. "Guess the train schedule here is a bit more complicated than the one we knew." He then hummed when Masamune told them his experience when he left his home from Eastern Timberlands. "That's the same with me and Daten. We're a bit nervous about what the Digital World looks like and wonder if we can able to survive with us together. It's like an adventure to the unknown like in those shonen manga and video games we read and play."
"Yeah, yeah! I haven't been to the Digital World myself, too," Daten added. "I don't know why I was born in the human world, but I'm glad to be with Ryu when it happened. He showed me a lot of fun things in his world and food I never enjoyed from eating spam mail data!"
"Not to mention the bad things and trials we had to endure. Like trying to hide Daten from the public. Other than that, being in the Digital World is a big change for us as partners."
As they talked, Ryu and Daten took their time enjoying their ramen until their bowls were empty and gently put down their chopsticks at the top of them.
"Thanks for the meal!" Ryu and Daten said together.

Masamune chuckled in return before he said "I guess you're right, kew." Then after thinking on the subject for a moment he then said "Chalk that up to the randomness of the Digital World maybe, kew? I don't know since the Trailmon I got a ride on was the first one I've ridden, kew. One thing I can say is that I'm also nervous like you two seeing as all of us are out of our element but there is a certain degree of excitement to seeing new places don't you think, kew?"
"I was born in the Digital World just not as a digimon, kew. I was originally a small caterpillar till the sword I have, called Tenken, fell from the sky and its holy power transformed me into a Kunemon, kew. So I guess that caterpillar form is like my fresh and in training form rolled into one, kew." Masamune said. When Ryu mentioned trying to hide Daten, Masamune asked "Wait, kew. Wasn't there a device that allows digimon to disguise themselves, kew?"
Soon Ryu and Daten finished their respective bowls of ramen before placing their chopsticks on the bowls and thanking Piximon for the meal. Piximon smiled and said "You're welcome young ones. I enjoy seeing others happy."
"So now that we've eaten, ready to head to the shrine?" Masamune asked bouncing with excitement.

"There's no objection to that," Ryu said in agreement. "That's why adventures are exciting and unpredictable, something we can't find in video games."
As he continued to listen, Ryu was surprised that Masamune wasn't all Digimon at the start. Not to mention that strange sword he carried around suddenly appeared near him one day. Guess that was one of the mysteries of the Digital World that would take a while to solve.
When Masamune asked about a device that could disguise his Keramon, Ryu chuckled sheepishly. He must be talking about a Holo-Suit. "I did consider buying one for Daten. But he got too attached to his form as a Kuramon that he simply refused to let me buy it. Yeah, it's childish, but he's trying. We're gonna try to find a compromise after we get back from Eastern Timberlands." He could tell from his Keramon that he might still refuse to buy one.
The pair then stretched their arms before they stood up from the cart.
"I want to try ramen again in the Digital World next time! That was very delicious!" Daten cheered.
"Same here. Thanks, mister!" Ryu then turned to Masamune. "Sure. Just lead the way."
Ryu and Daten then followed Masamune to the shrine.

"Video games, kew?" the sword wielding Kunemon asked with a cock of his head clearly looking confused before he then asked "What are video games, kew?" The question, though innocent sounding enough, would likely catch some gamers in a quandary. Masamune wasn't surprised that Ryu appeared surprised as the Kunemon explained how he became a digimon. Sure all he knew about Tenken was that it fell from the sky but didn't know where the holy sword had originated from.
Ryu then mentioned considering buying the device mentioned for Daten but it seemed the Keramon didn't want one and Masamune said "I guess as long as not having that device is causing no harm there is no hurry, kew. I suppose I don't blame him for being attached to certain forms, kew. As for me, I wouldn't know what my disguise would be anyway, kew."
It seemed the tamer and digimon duo was ready to go so Masamune nodded and said "No problem. Let's go." Unbeknownst to the group the mysterious digimon who was watching them followed from the rooftops in secret. The digimon wanted this digimental's power for themselves and were determined to get it. Soon the group came upon the shrine which was humble in appearance but still beautiful. Sitting on a pedestal just out front was an orange digimental that appeared to be wrapped in grey cloth. Masamune thought that was curious and moved closer to get a better look.
Then what appeared to be a Floramon dressed in a beautiful sky blue kimono came out and said "Hello. Have you all come to see the digimental? I can tell the story of it if you want."

Ryu was quickly caught off guard by Masamune's question. Right... He forgot he lived in the Digital World for his whole life, so it made sense he didn't hear about video games until now. "Um... How should I describe them? They are games that you play on electronic devices back in my world. I wish I can explain more, but it might take hours for me to help you understand. So let's do that if we have the time after the shrine." It wasn't only that. Video games were addicting and he feared there was no way for them to get to the shrine on time.
After he told him Daten's reasons not to get a Holo Suit, Ryu turned to his partner out of concern. Again, there was no rush, but if that's what he wanted, then he might wait to get one until then.
Eventually, they arrived at the shrine and it didn't take long for the Tamer and Digimon pair to notice the Digimental in question. Not only Ryu was amazed to see the orange Digi-Egg-like relic in front of him, but Daten noticed it looked strong from his unblinkable eyes.
When they watched Masamune try to approach it, they were startled to see another plant Digimon approached him. It wasn't like Ferrost, but they seemed pretty in their kimono. Ryu hummed when the Digimon asked them about the story of that Digimental before he turned to Masamune, "What do you think, Masamune? I usually grow bored about it, but I'm also curious about that Digimental's origins."
"I'm okay with listening, too," Daten added, something Ryu was relieved to hear from his partner.

Masamune noticed that Ryu was caught off guard by the warrior worm's innocent question and seemed lost on how to best answer the question. Soon video games were described to Masamune by Ryu as games played on electronic devices and to explain it more could take hours. Not put off Masamune gave off the Kunemon equivalent of a smile spreading over his mandible before he said "Don't worry about it too much then, Ryu. Kew. I'll just look more into such a thing through research at a later date so no biggie, kew."
"I am curious about the digimental too seeing as it has found its way to this shrine somehow, kew." Masamune said before he turned to the Floramon who seemed to be the shrine maiden and bowed politely before he said "Please tell us more about this digimental, ma'am, as we are willing to learn, kew."
The Floramon smiled warmly as she made her way over to said digimental gently messaging said artifact before she said "This digimental has quite the intriguing history indeed. It fills me with joy to tell many about the digimental." Floramon smiled at the group before folding her arms together after lifting it off of the digimental as she then said "Several hundred years ago and before this town existed there was a digimon called BushiAgumon. This wandering warrior had taken multiple digimon into his care as they had been driven from their homes by various aggressive digimon warlords. Remember the Piximon selling food? He was only a in training digimon during this time and got his scars while escaping his village. The Piximon was the first digimon that the BushiAgumon rescued. After traveling great distances the many digimon led by BushiAgumon came out here and formed the town you see here. As for BushiAgumon he unfortunately perished fighting off a dark samurai of some kind according to legend but to keep his power out of the dark ones' clutches he had the help of the shrine maidens of the time who channeled his power into the shrine's alter and his spirit became the digimental you see here."
"Wow, kew. That is quite a story, kew." was all Masamune was able to get out as he scooted closer to the digimental.
"Wow is right and I have been hearing that tale from the day I started as shrine maiden. I've heard from Piximon that the tale has been told by the locals for generations." Floramon said with a smile.

He was relieved to see that Masamune understood his reason. He could tell from his personality alone that he was a dedicated swordsman despite having no limbs, yet it would be awkward if he started getting obsessed with the games he would introduce.
After they heard the story, Ryu was surprised that neither he nor Daten didn't doze off from it. It probably has to do with how interesting the story of the BushiAgumon was. That would probably be explained why the village was themed around those old samurai films. He was even more surprised that Digimon shrine maidens existed to protect the Digimental after the BushiAgumon's passing.
"Wow. Hearing all of that reminds us of you, Mister Masamune!" Daten commented, which he couldn't deny the comparison.
"Yeah. If it's possible, there's a chance that Digimental might accept you if you're interested," Ryu added. "Well, if you want. Again, we're not planning to try it out."
It wasn't just that reason because of their other objective tomorrow, but recalling Masamune's origins made him wonder if he was the right Digimon to become its successor.

Hearing that the digimental of such a noble warrior had been protected even long after BushiAgumon's passing. It showed how much this digimon meant to the village even now making Masamune wonder if it was right for the digimental to be disturbed. Then when Daten said that hearing all that reminded him of Masamune which made the Kunemon blush before he looked at Daten and said "I am not as amazing as this BushiAgumon, kew. I am merely a humble caterpillar given the power of a digimon when my holy sword Tenken fell from the sky landing near me, kew."
"Humility is not a bad trait friend. From what Mister Piximon has told us, BushiAgumon was probably the humblest digimon he personally met." The Floramon said.
"Besides that, kew. This digimental means a lot to the people of the village so wouldn't it be wrong for someone to take it, kew?" Masamune asked shaking his head.
Floramon's next words caught the humble warrior bug's attention as she said "The purpose of the digimental is to be claimed by the one destined to. Though the process can take many years. That's why the digimental was kept on an alter outside the shrine. Everyone in the village has already tried to claim it but it seems it was meant either for someone not born yet or an outsider. Besides even if you are the one destined for BushiAgumon's power we still won't forget the one who helped us many years ago as we have many methods of remembering him other than this humble digimental and shrine."
Ryu also tried encouraging him to try so Masamune focused his attention on the digimental before spitting his silk at the artifact. However just as his silk stuck to the digimental and he was getting ready to pull something swift cut his silk causing Masamune to stumble back a bit feeling the wind from what cut his silk. Spinning to face his unknown enemy he used what was left of his cut silk to draw his katana Tenken the blade of the sword glowing with holy light as he clutched it in his mandible. Then a voice said "Well. Well. How interesting. Not only do we have a little virus attribute bug with a katana but a holy one. Thought I'd never see such an odd sight." The unknown digimon made its presence known as a male Musyamon. The dark samurai's eyes looked amused taking in everyone around him before he said "Not only that a human boy and a Keramon. Not to mention a young Floramon serving as a shrine maiden. Snatching this digimental will be easier than I thought."
"The digimental of BushiAgumon will only be able to be claimed by the one destined." Floramon said nervously looking one step from running.
Snorting with amusement Musyamon said "And do you know the one destined for the digimental, little one? You said it yourself none of the villagers could move it and it was likely meant for an outsider."
"If you were listening from the shadows, BushiAgumon kept his power from being claimed by a dark samurai by working with the shrine maidens back then to become the digimental. Such power is not meant for one as dark as you." She said sounding more nervous as she continued "Oh dear what should I do? Should I go into the shrine and ask the more experienced shrine maidens or should I go find Mister Piximon? Oh Dear. Oh Dear."
