The cave was lively as can be. The walls and floor of the dark cavern, while slighty damp, have been dried over time by not only the roaring fire in the fireplace, but the constant movement of the two creatures inside of it. Clawed purple feet scuttled back and forth across every inch of the cave. Giggles and laughs reverberated through the cavern, bouncing off the walls to create the illusion of a joyous crowd within it. However, there were only two beings clammering about this subterranean cradle, their names being Moxius and Edax.
Petitmamon; A Small Devil Digimon that is exceptionally rare in the Digital World. They are typically used as undeerlings for exceptionally powerful digimon, given their much greater than average intelligence. They often come in pairs, and are typically inseperable from one another. This seems to be the case with the two that now scurried around this small cave.
The cave was decorated with various furniture, but instead of your average cushioning, they had mushroom caps and pilows woven from...well mushrooms. A fire roared in a maeshuft fireplace carved into one of the walls, but even that wasn't enough to completely warm or illuminate even this small space. Darkness lingered along the edges of the walls, so much so that the walls themselves seemed to disappear into the inky void at a certain point. This didn't seem to bother the two creatures much. They were seemingly very used to this level of low light. They flittered and skittered around this small space without a care in the world, bouncing off of furniture, the floor and the walls. They chased eachother, occasionally flying up with their small wings to dodge around one another. They would tag eachother ever so often, trading which one of them would do the chasing each time. The kind of fun that anyone could enjoy, a childlike passtime with that never fades with time. After a few hours of this, the two of them began to slow in speed, until finally flopping on the ground next to one another.
Through excitedly gasped breaths, the two Digimon began to talk to one another as they laid on the ground, their heads side by side as they were positioned in opposite directions on the floor. "We should...play something...less tiring tomorrow..." Moxie said, exasperated. "For sure,...probably...like patty cake or something." Edax said with a shortness of breath. In response to this suggestion, Moxie laughed slightly and said "We can't just play patty cake for hours." "Yeah we can! We can just keep going until we beat our record! Uh...what was out patty cake record again?" Edax asked with a dopey expression on her face."Three Hours. Forty-Five Minutes, and Twenty-Four Seconds!" Moxie responded quickly. Eda laughed, bending up to a sitting position from the ground, looking down at Moxie. "I never got how you could remember stuff like that. I hardly remember what I eat int he morning." Moxie gave her a puzzled look, saying "What's there to remember? We only eat mushrooms, right?" Eda chuckled once more, spouting "Oh yeah, right." She paused for a good 5 seconds, before saying "I'm hungry now, let's make food." She quickly fluttered up, and begam flying her way into the kitchen.
They called it a kitchen, but it was more like a corner of the room wit a large amount of fungi growing out of the wall. A small carved piece of stone acted as a kitchen table, with a small rock basin carved into it that collected water that dripped from the ceiling inside of it. Eda put out her staff, pointing it towards a smal amount of fungal tinder under the basin, and a purpleish fire shot out of it, setting it ablaze as the water above began to heat up. Moxie would soon join her in cooking, flying over and picking out the especially good looking mushrooms from the wall, and pulling them from the wall. They both took out knives, again both crudely shaped formations of sharpened stone, but with handles woven from mushroom fiber, and began chopping up the mushrooms into little bite-sized pieces. They used to just eat them as they were, but they found that it was just tastier this way. As the water boiled, both of them at once threw large clumps of the diced mushrooms into the basin, then hummed a little bit as the mushroom stew cooked.
At last, their meal was done. The two had done this routine so many time that they both knew when to stop the fire almost to the second. After many mishaps and spills they eventually got the hang of it. They both scooped a bowl of stew for themselves and sat down to eat. They both lacked a lot of basic table manners, as well as spoons, so the image of them eating wasn't the most elegant one, but it looked fun. After finishing their meals, the both of them let out a large sigh. Eda turns to Moxie, now rubbing her eyes a bit, then yawning. "I'm gonna head to sleep, alright?" She said this as she stumbled to bet, plopping down face first onto it and laying there for a few seconds. She poked her head up afterwards, getting into a more comfortable position saying. "It's your turn to sing the song, okay!" she sighed with faint excitement. Moxie nods, sitting fown on the side of the bed, and began singing a familiar song to Eda, as the fireplace began to grow dimmer and dimmer.
"And Now We Sing Ourselves To Sleep,
Beneath the Stone And Silver Sleet,
The Floor is Cold And The World Is Too Dark To See,
But I Am Warm 'Cause You're With Me.
The Fire Smolders At Our Feet,
The Light Dies Faster Than We Dream,
But It's Alright Because I Know That You Will Be,
Right Here To Sing This Song To Me."
As he finished singing, Eda was already fast asleep. The song had always helped them sleep, even when the room grew darker and scarier. They wrote it together, and sang it to eachother, alternating each night. This routine has repeated for nearly as long as Moxie could remember. By now it's become a bit boring, even with his sister beside him. Moxie often dreamt about what laid beyond the walls of this cave, if there was even anything out there to see. Was is brighter, can the world shine with more light than this cave could provide? A pity, that the two of them were afraid of the dark, when they should have feared the light all the same. The wall of the cave shook, the entire crevice with it, before bursting into a glare of dust and lightrays.
