The little shark has been observing, from afar, the odd creatures known as humans for some time. Her large yellow eyes followed a couple holding hands as they skipped merrily down the road that led into steel park gates. Noting that humans mostly seemed to enjoy the company of others, and often, they seemed to have similar day-to-day schedules and routines.
For example, on certain days, the humans traipsed together. Often as a seamless blur of grey, black and blue suits into the tall buildings that surrounded the large square. Not appearing again for many hours, often looking exhausted as a result. Other days, these humans were more cheerful and dressed in more bright colored clothing, sometimes with small children at their sides. Going to more fun-seeming locations, like the park.
Usually, Levi kept her distance from them. She had learned that a shark like herself, would most definitely stand out and cause what humans called, “big spooks.” She did have her D-Terminal, which allowed used of a Holosuit and offered her the ability to hide from the humans while blending in with them. But, watching them from afar was oddly interesting and she had slowly begun to learn about habits.
She slowly turned her head to watch as a screaming child, the mother clutching their hand tightly. Wanting them to stay away from the road, where the scary motor boxes called cars zoomed like large metal horses to the destinations of their owners. They paused at as someone stepped into their path and Levi bent forward to keep them in sight. Her head slightly tilted to one side.
Another human holding a bunch of balloons was passing out pieces of paper. The mother took one and bent down to show the child, who stopped crying at once. Levi tilted her head as far as it would go without causing her injury. She was curious.
At once, the little shark jumped down from her perch and pressed at the buttons on the D-Terminal which appeared as if from nowhere. With a loud popping noise, Levi the shark had vanished. In her place now stood, a girl with long grey hair with flecks of blue through it. Blue eyes that seemed to reflect the ocean itself and very sharp teeth like a shark.
Without any caution, she ran across the road. Her long sleeves flapping behind her. A sharks tail moving from side-to-side. The shark-girl skidded to a halt, just short of the balloon-holding girl causing her to flinch. “Hallow! Iz a Levi!” Levi said, tilting her head and baring her teeth in a non-threatening sort of way.
After a second, the girl smiled at Levi, seemingly no taking any worry or shock by the girl’s odd appearance. More taking it in stride. “Here you go,” she said, passing Levi a piece of paper.
“Judging by that adorable outfit, you’ll definitely like this.”
Levi looked down and then back up, her head tilted again. “Uhhhh… Levi confuse,” she muttered more to herself than to the girl who was looking quizzically at Levi. “Oh, are you foreign? I can help you if you need me too.” The girl added. The shark nodded twice.
“Okay, so there is an aquarium. Just over there. It’s just opened and I’m offering free entry to all children. Just show them that flyer and you’ll be able to go right in.”
“Oh. Just make sure you take a parent with you, okay?” She smiled at Levi and then turned to greet the next person who passed.
“Aqwarom?” Levi said, slowly. The shark tilted her head for the fourth time and then began to follow the others, including the mother and her son, in the direction of the aquarium. Not quite sure what she had just signed up for.
