Shi was used to sleeping on hard surfaces, it happened from time to time in the digital world sure, however both hard and cold surfaces was something that he wasn't too used to still. Slowly opening his eyes Shi saw what seemed to just be a darkened cave, as his eyes slowly adjusted to his surroundings, he noted something on his chest that looked familiar, at first he thought it was just Yuudai again but as his eyes started to get better and better at seeing in the dark it was pretty clear this was more yellow then Yuudai, smaller too and curled up against his chest. Still the familiarity was there and it was pretty clear on what it was, it was a pokemon. Pikachu, the mascot to be specific.
Not wanting to disturb them Shi lifted his hand up slowlyto see a red glove, his hands also seemed a bit smaller then normal. Looking down his outfit was pretty similar to what he normally wore and he had a hat on of a similar style, in his movements of checking himself out he seemed to of disturbed the small mouse on his chest, yawning the small creature looked at Shi with a friendly expression. 'Chuu!" It cried out as it rushed over to his shoulder, sitting there like it was just a normal day. Shi reached up and patted them on the head, which the pokemon seemed to enjoy a lot.
Ok so it was pretty dang clear that he was dreaming at the moment, something was going on and he was asleep right now. Probably spent a little too much time playing games before bed, but regardless might as well enjoy it while it lasted. Shifting his position Shi stood up and stretched his new body, he was definitely shorter than before too, also probably a bit younger now as well. Brushing his hand against his belt Shi felt five small orbs brush against his hand, he had a team of six at the moment so that was pretty good. Only question is where he was at the moment.
Taking a few steps forward towards the only notable exit Shi was quickly blasted by a sheer burst of cold wind that nearly took him off his feet, the pikachu on his shoulder culched against him for dear life as the wind almost threatened to blow them both off of the summit. Shi reached up and braced the small pokemon with his palm, keeping them from being blown away on instinct, earing a small thankful 'Pika!' right after. Smiling slightly Shi made his way outside.
They were very high up, if he had to guess it was about the same height he would've been on the mountains in the digital world, despite the high winds and snow slowly fluttering down from the sky it was pretty clear at the moment and Shi was able to see down the mountain, despite being far away there was some key landmarks he could make out, a large building, the layout of the towns. He knew where he was. "Mt. Silver." Shi muttered to himself once more looking at his current body, he had a suspicion but now it was pretty much confirmed, he was Red. Training on top of the mountain waiting for the protagonist of the second generation to come fight him.
That much was pretty clear at the moment but that was a pretty boring way to spend his time, doing nothing but grinding against wild pokemon sounded like a pretty lame thing to do in a dream, if this was Kanto then might as well take in the sights after all. Brushing his hand through the array of pokeballs on his belt, he grabbed the second to last one, remembering the order from the times he fought against him in his own playthoughs, throwing the ball out released the fire starter Charizard, landing against the snow seemingly ready for a fight, but no fight came so they looked back at their trainer confused.
Shi didn't say anything and just pointed towards the town, Charizard seemed to get the idea and even seemed a bit excited at what Shi was doing, guess even they got bored staying up on a mountain all day long. Hopping on the fire lizards back Shi made sure to hold onto Pikachu as the flying fire pokemon started flapping their wings, charging off the side of the cliff face and flying towards Kanto.
Shi was used to flying, after all he did it with his partners all the time but something about this felt a lot stranger, glancing around Shi could see a bunch of flying type pokemon making their way around the area, making sure to avoid him and go their own paths, some though tried to cross paths and even attack him in the air, but a quick thunderbolt from PIkachu made them think twice, it was definitely a lot more interesting then flying in the games.
Eventually Charizard started flying lower, Shi didn't know exactly where he wanted to go so he figured he'd head to the start at Pallet town, without even needing to hear the command Chaizard seemed to understand what he wanted and flew down towards the town, picking up speed as he bolted down forcing Shi to hold onto his hat and Pikachu.
Eventually they touched down in the middle of the town, it was definitely bigger than the games but still seemed pretty small all things considered. Jumping off Shi patted the large fire pokemon on the head before returning him to the ball. Placing it back on the belt in the same spot. Looking around the town for a moment Shi wondered what he should do first when he heard someone from nearby call out to him, they sounded remarkably familiar.
"Red? Is that you?"
Shi turned around and saw an older woman who, looked shockingly similar to his mom. There was definitely quite a few differences but the voice and general appearance matched. "Oh it is you! You came home, I was so worried about you. You haven't been calling recently." She said as she walked over and hugged them.
Shi didn't exactly know how to respond, he forgot that was a part of the game if he was honest. Still though she seemed happy and, even if this was a dream he didn't want to be rude.
"Quiet as always, you always were more for actions then anything else I suppose." laughing to herself she added. "Suppose that's why you came here instead of calling." Letting go she reached over at started petting the pokemon on his shoulder. "I know you want to be the best but, please spare a thought for your mom every so often?" she asked letting go of Pikachu and looking him in the eyes.
Shi simply gave a nod, which seemed to make her happy, though that was cut short as he heard a voice come from the water nearby. "Ain't this a surprise, didn't know you'd be down the mountain today! Guess I should count myself lucky I happened by." Looking over Shi saw another familiar face, only this time it wasn't someone from his real life. It was another character from the game, Blue. Or the rival as he was probably better known. "Ha, Caught ya! You looked over here. You know what that means?" Blue asked as he walked over, staring at Shi as he stood a little ways away from him.
Shi still didn't respond, instead just looking over at the pikachu on his shoulder, both giving a small nod to each other as the little mouse jumped off his shoulder and in front of him, down low ready for a battle.
"Oh you two, he's not back for even a minute and you're already at it again." Red's mom said as she walked over to her son's side, seemingly intent on spectating the match in front of them.
"When trainers lock eyes, we battle. That's all there's to it!" Blue said throwing out his own pokemon, Arcanine.
Shi wasn't used to this whole ordeal, this was a type of battle he wasn't used to but, so long as he was here he wasn't going to lose no matter what. Adjusting his hat Shi smirked and nodded at Blue's remark, that's all there was to it! He'd just enjoy this time in this world while he could, letting everything fade from his mind but the fight ahead.
Eventually he'd return home to his own room but until then, he'd enjoy this world for as long as he could!
