"I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE." Toby yelled as he got home. School had been kicking his ass (why did he think a school in a country he could only barely speak the language in would be a good idea), and that wasn't even mentioning his search for a job- there were no mechanics jobs that would take a 17 year old boy, even if he had experience! By the gods, he was exhausted. He took a few deep breaths. All he needed was a long nap- though most people would call that 'sleeping'- and he would be fine! Like that Lemon Demon song that plays on loop in the middle of class when his phone bugs out!
OK, he really needed a nap now. He was getting delirious. He would never be able to actually learn hallucinating! (At least, most people couldn't. But audio hallucinations were nothing new to him.) With a sigh, and a quick stretch that made his spine go snap, crackle, pop(Work on your posture Smith), he decided, looking at the time, that he would have about an hour to play games before he would take a shower and go to bed. He pulled out his phone as he headed to his bedroom, setting an hour long timer as he booted the thing up. Sure, it was clunky and barely ran half the time, but what better to play games on than a three year old computer? (Don't answer that).
"Alright, let's see... Celeste? Nah, don't need that kinda stress. Control? Not really feeling it..." He murmured as he searched for a game he could play, before deciding to go to the most basic of all things when you couldn't decide- YouTube. As he watched, he noticed a weird ad- one that said 'Find your true partner!'
"Partner? I hope that's not a dating website, but I have nothing better to do." He said aloud as he clicked on it, suddenly getting blinded by a bright white light. Toby instinctively covered his eyes as the light began to fade, leaving no trace the light had happened... except for Toby, who was still reeling, a strangely large egg with red triangles, and a pocket sized device with a purple grip. Toby, now no longer reeling from the light, was immediately captivated by them.
"No way! Did I cause this to happen? Well, I obviously did, it must have been that ad..." Toby began to go on a tangent as the egg began to wobble, and then it jumped, cutting Toby off. "Whoa!" He said, in complete shock. The egg began to bounce around as Toby grabbed the strange device, thinking. There was only one problem with this... he put the strange device, antenna and all, near his face, where he, unthinking, took the antenna in his mouth and chewed. This was a bad habit he had, which was originally just pencils. But now it was the antenna of a completely alien device!
"Oh, crap." Toby realized what he had done, shoving the device in his pocket and dashing towards the still bouncing egg, quickly scooping it up. He sighed a sigh of relief as the egg stopped bouncing, only to notice a crack in it. He immediately paled, thinking that his spiral had allowed the egg to break. However, the egg continued to crack, as a small creature burst out. A pale white with a singular horn and red frills, and it yawned... before starting to bounce in Toby's arms. "Well, this is gonna take a while to get used to." He said. Then he smiled. "But I won't give up!" The orb cheered with him, as the two settled in for a long nap...
Except Toby still needed to get a shower.
Crud.
