I'm shedding Shedding every color Trying to find a pigment of truth Beneath my skin
Avery listened to everyone's opinions about why they fought. Tatsuya and Dorumon fought for freedom. She figured that could be a good reason to use their power. So they wouldn't be oppressed by a stronger opponent. Sure, it made sense. Vetina did it because it was a reaction.
"Well, I don't know. If I wanted safety and had my digimon around to protect me...I might as well run. No offense to you, but if I did everything for my saftey I'd be a coward and wouldn't be in this world in the first place. My fighting can't be about mere protection."
The Italian teen's lips thinned out in a frown. "I didn't say it was merely for my protection. We're standing up for ourselves. But I've fought with others to protect them too. We're not the strongest, but we're getting there."
Patch growled Elson and SIlversteamdramon. "Are you calling us cowards? I can show you coward!" He yelled, amber eyes glinting angrily as they narrowed to slits.
AJ shot her partner a look. "Don't Patch. it's just a discussion." Turning back to Elson and his partners, she tilted her head. "So, glory huh? I could care less about being remembered. I just want to help people."

Both Tatsuya and Dorumon listened to Elson and SilverSteamdramon's answers about their question, the former confessing that he would feel like a coward if he just fought for his own protection, referring to AJ. The Kazan knew that she'd take a little offense to that comment, and although he knew she was no coward, he didn't intervene at that time. No, Tamer and Digimon partner were too focused on the Steamdramon's mechanic clone opinion about power and freedom. Dorumon's teeth clenched a little after hearing a certain phrase.
-I'd rather be a living, well reputated slave than a free brute. Freedoom is good, but it is worth nothing alone...afteralk once you get it, you still have to find a proper way to apply it -Elson's core partner had said. The Rookie then looked at him, his eyes a little enraged, but understanding. He had no way to know what it felt like, after all. Both him and Ayaka were completely wrong, at least from his point of view... but how could anyone blame him? After all, his story was completely unknown to everyone, except perhaps to himself.
-Fine. Try telling me that the next time you realize how easy is for this world to destroy you. This place... it has no room for weaklings. The stronger ones just realized that we weren't that much of a nuisance, and allowed us to live in here, but... are you sure the moment our interest collide with theirs, they won't attempt to obliterate you? -it asked, but then was met with another question.
At that time, it was Tatsuya who spoke. -Now this is where you got me completely wrong. I honestly care nothing about what people think about me. Not the slightest bit. That's how I've always been and how I'll keep on being. However, I do care about my beloved ones... But that's a completely different story.
Then, it was Dorumon's turn. -What you or other Digimon think of me doesn't affect me at all. For example, there's a certain Digimon that thinks I'm a barbarian, a mindless beast with no other intentions than fighting. She drives me nuts, but do you honestly think that'll change my mind? I don't know about you... but I'd considered people a complete joke if they did something like that.
Let me tell you something, though. You keep relating my search for power with imposing my freedom to the others. That's another wrong thing on your list. In this world, only the strongest truly live. The weak can only survive another day... because living in fear isn't living at all. I just need strength... the strength to protect what matters.
-I don't want glory. I just want to know that I was able to live without any regrets on anything... that's why I've never been shy. It's better to regret doing something that not having done it. If I didn't think like that, I would've never become a Tamer in the first place.

Elson shook his head as A.J and Patch seemed to take his words as an offense. He wasn't calling them cowards, he was stating that HIM would be a coward if he only fought for his own defense.
"No, A.J, you misunderstood me as well. I ment that I'd be a coward if I only fought to protect myself, not you. I'm not you, I have no idea what your though process is, so I can't say anything about you...but I can still say that with my partners and what my father taught me, I'd have no other reason beyond cowardice to do what I do if I only did for protection. As much as I believe, we're all bound by fate: to defend ourselves with no other goal would be simply to delay the inevitable." Elson explained "But then again, I get your point. You don't do it solely to protect yourselves, and I'm not sure about this, but I assume from what you just said that you also want to best others? Why? How?"
Meaningwhile Silversteamdramon stared at Dorumon as the digimon clenched his teeth.
"Maybe you fail to understand this, but I obviously wasn't claiming you intent to impose freedom. That's a contradiction! As for those who seek to destroy those who oppose them...aren't you the same? Not too long ago you attack ago you tried to attack that Swannmon, and I won't say you'd be wrong to do it if she was the right one, but I am saying that if you're gonna use power to destroy those who oppose your freedom, aren't you just as bad as those you seek to defeat? And more, even if the people's mindsets change they will likely do it for the worse. And maybe it won't be you that will pay the penalty, but there will be someday in which you won't be around...and on that day the people YOU scared to death you turn on your x-antibody compatriots and do exactly or worse than what they did to you..because you showed them that you can truly become monsters. You have in fact another option...if you want freedom you need to turn to no one else but your partner. He won't chain you, he's willing to go through hell with you (I assume) , so why do you need power? You have your freedom at arm's reach." The machine told Dorumon.
Elson turned to his partner, worried. The tone had rises, things were getting more...aggressive. They'd better get out fast before anyone (likely Silversteamdramon or Dorumon) did something they'd all regret.
"Well, thank you for your insight. I think we should get going." Elson said. Silversteamdramon looked at him and nodded, getting the point. They both walked off, pensative into the woods.
Not too long afterwards, Tinkermon flied towrads them. Elson was really suprised as he had forgotten the fairy wasn't in his fusion loader.
"I've decided to stay with you." Tinkermon told Elson.
"What do you mean?" Silversteamdramon asked.
"Swannmon proposed that I stayed with her to take care of babies, but I felt guilty about it and I came here to keep going with you. You deserved it." Tinkermon told Elson and Silversteamdramon.
"Well,y general looks like wasp...my general?" Silversteamdramon said only noticing halfway through that Elson was just staring into the void.
"I...I...I think I got it, Silversteamdramon. The reason we should fight."
"And it is?"
"One shouldn't fight for what one may get from it, but what from what one can give. How cab we expect others to show their worth of we don't do the same if we have the chance? We have to get better at fighting so we show others that we cab do better...so they will do better than us, pass on the example. We may loose everything in the process, but we must provide a good legacy. In any way we can. And if we don't get anything from it..." Elsonsaid and he took a Botamin that had been dragged along by tinkermon "...they should get. Or the ones after them. Being remembered is about guiding others. And nomatter what, we must guide others well. Through the examples we can provide. Through our fighting."

"I cannot say flinging our mudpie ideals have been the most riveting of events, but it took out some time."
The Ranamon got up, helmet in hand and sunglasses on face. The water chair lost its form, splashing onto the ground. It seemed like the group was beginning to split off, and given that Vetina had extra difficulty getting her points across (well, people understanding her points), she did not feel much like debating anymore.
"I knew a digimon... powerful... had a minimum of above average influence on others. More of an acquaintance than one I directly rub elbows with. Were she here her views would chew you out, Dorumon. I admit, the thought of that happening was amusing.
But your shield is your experiences. Ones I cannot gague fully and thus out my bounds. Set on your track, even less reason to do more than continue flinging ideals. We have our paths.
Anyway, I must take my leave. I won't say this will sprout deep thought in later moments but, hey, I knew the things I did in my past, and where I am walking now, and why."
And so, Vetina walked off. She really wanted to talk to Betty. It bugged her how right Betty was in how much it bugged Vetina when people consistently not understand her.

Everyone was pretty much still talking about why they fought. AJ had quieted down, glancing down at Patch. She reached out, bringing her hand flat down on the cat-like Rookie's head and began rubbing gently. He purred and pushed his head against the 15-year-old's hand for more.
When Tatsuya mentioned about his loved ones, it clicked. That was really what it was. At first, it had been about her protection, then their protection, now it was for the protection of others. With all the happenings with the Devas, things were getting worse.
"We're gonna fight these Devas and take them out. That's why we're fighting."
Her gray-blue orbs trailed after Vetina as she left and then Elson and his team were also heading out. Turning over to Tatsuya and Dorumon, she asked, "So, I guess you guys are gonna head now too?"

Tatsuya and Dorumon watched Elson leave as he seemed to have found his answer, vanishing with the rest of the Digimons that formed his Xros Army. Either way, it seemed that Vetina had already had her fair share of discussing and not being understood due to her strange speeches, for she also left the scene without losing any time. In the end, it was just the duo in the Village, though Avery and Patch were still there.
The italian girl had proclaimed that they would fight those Devas and take them out, probably to save more people from their destruction spree. The eighteen year old shuddered, remembering the events that had transpired with Kumbhiramon at Terminus Mall. He wouldn't let the same thing happen twice: the Kazan was now sure they had the strength they needed to end their evil deeds once and for all, although... even at Ultimate level, that wouldn't be enough. They needed more power, more strength. The young man's mind focused on the new goal as he took his Digivice, pointed it at Dorumon and the same sketch with the evolution levels appeared, the "MEGA" tag having three question marks beneath it.
His head tilted towards Avery when she asked him what would he do at that time. -Yeah, we're probably going back now. It's been fun, but now we've gotta get serious again. It's as you just said... the Devas need to be stopped once and for all, yet Dorumon and I aren't ready. I think it's time for us to try to reach the next level, and I'm sure that the Village of Begginings won't be the best training grounds -he muttered as he pulled out his D-3 and armor-digivolved Dorumon into Sangloupmon, the majestic wolf appearing besides him. The teen mounted his wolf-like Digimon, and smiled.
-But for now, we'll head back to Shibuya to rest for a while. If you're going there too, want us to give you a lift? -he smiled to the fifteen-year-old as his partner howled, his purple and grayish mane shaking a little as he prepared for the upcoming trip.

AJ nodded. She agreed. There were better places to go train, which was actually what they should be doing right now, but they still needed to rest. She couldn't work her partner to the point of exhaustion or he wouldn't get any stronger.
She smiled when the older teen offered her a ride. "Sure, it's getting late. I need to get back to my parents. Let's go."
Whatever form Dorumon decided to take on, she would gladly hop on and head out with Tatsuya.
