"God are like what creates us human, and everything in this world... that's it, basically... I guess something like higher entity... controlling fates, but allow human to decide their own path and change the future in some way... Well, that's just how I think about it," Ryouta explained. He then returned back to his curry when he heard sound that it's seem boiled magnificently. "...Ah, yeah. Got it."
He's actually really worried about this stuff, but decided to not do anything else. Afterall, he still got his suspicions toward the multieyed Digimon. He sighed and poured the newly boiled curry to the rice when Tatsuya's reply reached the kitchen. "Man, you sure got it lucky!" he announced, faking a jealous tone. "I myself... I fought too much to be popular with girls, so I guess I reap what I sow, heh!"
And when Ryouta returned, it's seem the older teen is not there anymore... Odd? He tilted his head, when suddenly... a familiar person opened the door so suddenly... He know who would do that and declare 'I'M HOME' loudly instead something like 'Ojamashimasu'.
"...Lemme get back to the kitchen for a bit. Dorumon, go on eat as you please. The curry's ready. I made it slightly spicy."
"Hm...So God is to you, what Yggdrasil is fir the digimon? How strange... I would like to continue this conversation after you have dinner, if you don't have anything against it." UFADO replied to Ryouta.
On the tree, UFADO was worried. The pain he felt...ge couldn't understand it, or it's orgins...
"Sistem Check, begin" UFADO said causing his body to begin examining itself. He heard someone climb the tree he was on. "Aren't you gonna have dinner?" UFADO asked Tatsuya. The boy replied by stating UFADO would have had the chance to attack many times if he wanted to, but he didn't and even invited UFADO to have dinner with them." No thanks. I do not eat usually. Maybe that's something else that differs me from other digimon...yes, its likely." then the sistem check ended. The result angered UFADO "What is this?! How can they not be broken! I was not made to feel pain!... This is worng, I am so ruined not even my sistem checks work anymore?"
UFADO punched the tree, causing it to shake loudly. What was wrong with him? Why was it his sistems were going down like this?
As Dorumon was still letting himself be petted by the twins, he heard Ryouta's comment about how curry was done already, so if he wanted to eat, he would be able to do it right away. The Rookie sighed in relief, since he was very hungry and hadn't eaten since they had come back from the Digital World. It was then when he noticed his partner talking to UFADO. -"Oh well, he's always like that. Guess it can't be helped" -the Digimon thought, closing an eye when Ino ruffled one of his ears.
However, at that moment, a stranger came from outside and closed the door, shouting a loud "I'M HOME", which prompted Ryouta to go back into the kitchen for whatever reason. Dorumon turned, stepping in front of the two sisters in a protective manner. He couldn't know the stranger's intentions, but if he tried something wrong, things wouldn't get pretty... for her.
As this happened, Tatsuya was still talking to UFADO, who had initiated a self-check. However, it didn't seem to go as he wanted it to. After muttering that he didn't usually eat, differencing him from the other Digimon, he punched the tree as he growled, angry. -What is this?! How can they not be broken! I was not made to feel pain!... This is wrong, am I so ruined even my sistem checks won't work anymore? -the strange Digimon said. That made Tatsuya smile again.
-See? You are not broken, UFADO. You youself say you are a Digimon, of course, and you want to unravel the nature of human heart... But let me tell you something. Every Digimon also has a heart, just as strong and powerful as one of ours. The fact that you feel pain and your systems tell you otherwise is another proof of that.
It's not about eating food... It's about being with other people, sharing laughs, conversations... To tell you the truth, I'm sick of this society in which humans are so scared of each other they won't talk to the person sitting next to them in the bus, for example. I'll never be able to understand why... But I try to change that myself. Maybe that's why I'm here right now.
You don't have to be alone if you don't want to, UFADO. As far as I'm concerned, everyone is welcomed around me, as long as they didn't piss me or my friends off in the first place, and you haven't done that. So... what do you say? -Tatsuya asked, offering his right hand for the multiple-eyed Digimon to shake. It was then when he noticed the stranger coming to Ryouta's house. After UFADO taking or rejecting his offer, he jumped down the tree and entered the house once again, directing his steps towards the stranger.
What's the plan if you don't want to spend time home from all the cold shoulders your parents gave you? Cold shoulder here meant something far worse than just ignoring. They're indifferent to what she does, even if she sneaks late at night, they wouldn't even bat an eye. Now why the heck she would feel home there again? She doesn't care about that place anyway... But still, no matter what, a 14 years old's saving would immediately turned into 0 when you spend it on hotels and likes... plus, she'll most likely get arrested if she do that anyway... last time she did, her parents just acted like a good parents, pick her up and left her on the entrance of their house just like that, without saying anything at all.
"...S***w it, teehee~" Koharu faked a cheerful tone, full of sarcasm as she skipped a bit on her steps to her sanctuary.. the only place where everyone cared for her... and it's the place that she can call home. Without even knocking and just barging in, the black short haired girl announced her arrival.
Her partner Bommon inside her bag sighed loudly.
"I'm here to crash as well toda---... uh? A Digimon?" Koharu tilted her head at the Digimon who now protecting Ryouta's sisters. "Eh? Ino, Kizu, you got your own Digimon? I never heard that it'll be like this, but wow...? Uh... Hey, Ryouta! What's the meaning of this!"
Yet apparently the boy will not answer her before he finished with his stuffs. An older boy appeared, asking who she is.
"Oh, are you Ryouta's sempai or something? Nice t'metcha', Sempai! I'm Nakano Koharu, but I don't like formalities, so please just call me Koharu! Nicknames works, too. I'm sorta here to crash over!"
"Koharu-neechan!" both Ino and Kizu called out to her and hugged the older girl's waist.
"It's OK, Dorumon-san... she's... a family friend and sort of sworn siblings to my brother... she can be obnoxious and a really loud one at it," Ren sent Koharu his usual teasing smug grin, making the girl stick out her tongue to him. "She's practically another sister," he continued.
"Yeah, she always come unannounced, then generally would come here crashing over. Anyway, that Dorumon isn't Ino and Kizu's... he's the partner of... yeah, that one you called 'Sempai'. Anyway, Tats there is not my sempai in school. He's already in college, you know. But perhaps, sooner or later he'll be my sensei or something in Karate."
And then, Ryouta appeared once again from the kitchen with curry rice on bigger portion than the others. It's almost like it's made for two person.
"You must be hungry, so here, just eat. Tell Kon-chan to not hesitate if she's hungry."
"No you're wrong there Tatsuya. Digimon immitate emotion based of the human one. Only humans truly have a heart. That's where they're power comes from, the reason why there are tamers in the first place: so that digimon can channel that power into their bodies. Don't gete wrong we're still powerfull and can digivolve on our own...but the power of emotion is reserved to humans and those who can get them to share it." UFADO explained. Yet Tatsuya wasn't done talking "Then what's the point of making it a meal? Being with people, a social meeting shouldn't add in another purpouse otherwise it wil likely turn into a chaotic mess." UFADO replied. Still, Tatsuya spoke yet again. UFADO, somehwhat angry, took out the shard of omnimon's sword from his small leather bag "But I do have to be alone...No, I am alone. Even when I tried to help them, to release them from that tyrant, they fought against me. They went as far as trying to kill me to defend their opressor. I am alone, I have always been." Tatsuya reached out with his hand to UFADO. Could this human be trying to...befriend him? UFADO? A strange thought indeed, and even stranger the pain UFADO was feeling appeared to ligthen up a bit. UFADO reached back with his hand and shook the boys hand hesitantly, while he pocketed the sword shard again with his other hand. "Very well, I'll go to dinner with you. I will obviously not eat, but if it is the social meeting you described it as, then it should not prove problematic."
UFADO jumped off the tree and went back inside the house after Tatsuya. There was someone inside the house that wasn't in there when he first left.
Tatsuya half-smiled as UFADO shaked his hand, although in a hesitant. At least, that way it wouldn't feel as lonely as before, the teen thought, and jumped down from the tree. Back at the Noguchi's, Dorumon was looking at the stranger while growling, but Ren's voice came soon after, at the same time the twins squealed a loud "Koharu-neechan!". -It's OK, Dorumon-san... she's... a family friend and sort of sworn siblings to my brother... she can be obnoxious and a really loud one at it.
It was then when Ren explained who Dorumon was and that it was not Ino's or Kizu's, but rather, the one she had called "Sempai". Still behind her, Tatsuya said something in a friendly way. -Yep. The angry, little guy is my partner. Right, Dorumon? -he said, looking at the fox. -Unfortunately, yes -the Digimon teased with a mischievous smile. -Heh. Knew you'd say that, "Uncouthmon" -Tatsuya answered, imitating Ayaka. Dorumon's eyes widened and he backed off. -Oh, no, not you too, damn it Tatsuya! -he asked, his partner giving him a wide grin.
-Either way, I'm watching you, girl... so better not try anything strange, okay? -the Digimons said, weary as always.
-Oh, are you Ryouta's sempai or something? Nice t'metcha', Sempai! I'm Nakano Koharu, but I don't like formalities, so please just call me Koharu! Nicknames works, too. I'm sorta here to crash over! -Koharu said, something in Tatsuya's head ringing. Before giving it a second thought, he spoke, realizing only a second after.
-Well, me neither! I'm Tatsuya... wait, wait, wait. Did you say Nakano? -Tatsuya asked, remembering the time he had met a girl with an awfully similar name... Yes, undoubtedly, she had to be... -Say, Koharu... won't you happen to have a sister named Aria, right? -the teen asked, concerned. If she was who he thought she was, he definately had to intervene in Aria's favour. Remembering that young girl crying while calling herself a coward always made him a little sad too.
After she introduces herself to Tatsuya, another guy appeared... this time it's... a multiple-eyed Digimon? Koharu pointed at the Digimon while looking at Ren and the twins, to which they shook their head. She quickly made a gesture like she got it.
"Ah, hello there, Multi-eyed-Digimon-san... errr... that sounds a bit mouthy... Do you have a name? My name's Nakano Koharu! I'm Ryouta's childhood friend!" she bowed back as she said that.
Introduction is fine and all, she was smiling a genuine smile, like she was pleased that Ryouta brought friends to the house, but... that smile becomes as stiff as stone when the older teen mentioned that goodie-two-shoes. As much as she want to leave now, it'll be totally a d**k move on Ryouta's part. Looking at the boy, he looks surprised, but seem ready to intercept anytime... And honestly, she's here not to hear anything about her sister. She's here for sanctuary. Turning back right at Tatsuya, the fourteen years old with short black hair smiled.
"Ahahahaha, Sempai... or Tacchan sounds better? Well, Tacchan, that's so funny! I don't have any sister!" the last tone sounds so cold, colder than even ice. It's almost she's a snake who just spitted her venom to him. She widened her smile momentarily, but rather than a true smile, it's smile of someone who told him to not interfere. From her tone already, one could immediately draw the line that two of them are related, not to mention they're quite similar facial feature wise.
"Sorry for imposing, Ryouta! Say, Kon-chan, do you want to eat, too?"
And that moment, a small Bommon appeared from Koharu's backpack, floating idly.
"It'll be nice. Nice to meet you today, too, Ryouta-dono. I'm very sorry to be imposing..."
"...Tats, can I talk with you a bit?" Ryouta immediately interjected after Koharu said her share, but it doesn't seem that he will let the older boy talk to the girl more than that. He give the older teen a 'we'll talk in the kitchen if you don't mind' gesture, before going in and closing the door, seem like telling him he should do the same after. Somehow, Ren is looking really sad, like something taboo just got shot.
Regardless, the eldest Noguchi sibling already waiting for the older boy inside the kitchen. If he don't come, well... that's where physical dragging will take place.
"...Look, I know you'll be perplexed, or even angry at Koharu... I know Aria, but I don't tell Koharu about her at all. I know how much she cried about Koharu, about how sometimes she called my phone if Koharu is here... she's a sweet girl, yeah? But if you try to delve further into this, you'll only damage their relationship more, trust me. Koharu loves Aria, she still do... but at the same time, she's losing her ground, Tats. If someone told her to not hate her because it's something uncalled for, something that Aria is not in fault for, then I'm sure she'll broke... This is only her way of justifying her parents' treatment. She cannot cope with all the ignoring her parents did to her, despite everything she done to prove herself. She loves her sister, but to make herself keep going, she forces herself to hate her... it's complicated, I know."
Ryouta sighed. At this moment, he really wished he have something to calm himself down. He took out a pack of Pocky from the fridge and start munching on it.
"...Don't bring up Aria in front of Koharu. The sisters are suffering as they already did."
Tatsuya seemed to appreciate the hand shake. Good, UFADO did too, much to his disbelief.
The newcomer greeted UFADO and introduced herself as Nakano Kouharo and asked his name.
"My name is UFADO, I have met Ryouta today." UFADO said, trying to mimic the human's form of introduction to try to more...relatable. "Nakano? What does it mean?" UFADO asked, not understanding the reason behind the Kouharo's sudden cooldness. Afraid he might not gave been understood and his words were taken wrongly, he tried to make himself clearer as Ryouta called Tatsuya into the kitchen " In case , I wasn't clear, I asked what Nakano means. For example UFADO means Ultra Fast Adaptation Digital Organism."
Then another digimon showed up. Once more, UFADO bowed.
"Greetings." UFADO greeted the digimon, a bommon, if his sistems were not fooling him.
It seemed that Tatsuya mentioning Aria sparked a wierd reaction in Koharu. First, her face became much more stiff, with him noticing how had she faked her last smile. Afterwards, she shot him a stream of icy words. -Ahahahaha, Sempai... or Tacchan sounds better? Well, Tacchan, that's so funny! I don't have any sister! -were Koharu's words, while smiling in a way that told him not to interfere... as if he cared what she thought. Before Tatsuya could even make a serious face and mutter a "Kisama..." in Japanese, Ryouta caught his attention, attempting to drag him in the kitchen. Noticing there was something strange in him, he complied, and followed his friend inside.
-...Look, I know you'll be perplexed, or even angry at Koharu... She loves her sister, but to make herself keep going, she forces herself to hate her... it's complicated, I know -the teen finished a long, winded speech about the Nakano siblings' relationship.
Tatsuya chuckled, but then turned serious. -Ryouta... I met Aria a few days ago with Ave. She seemed like a cold, teasing girl at first, but then, when she got her Digimon partner, she opened her heart... do you seriously know how devastated the poor girl was? Calling herself a coward for not being able to disobey her parents and making her sister leave her side, just because she didn't want to disappoint anyone! Living isn't adequating yourself to everyone else's desires, Ryouta, and sadly, that's the poor girl's situation...
Either way. If you don't want to, I won't say anything else about it. Promise. -he said, but then a last line played in his brain. -"However... don't expect me to try and be nice with that girl. A person that can negate the existence of her own sister like that just makes me utterly sick" -resonated in the teen's head, coming out of the kitchen.
If someone mentioned that goody two shoes in front of her, what would she do? Easy enough. She'll pretend they doesn't exist. If they know that she has abandoned her sister in favor of her mental stability, then they would hate her, and at that point, she'll also hate them for bringing that stuff up to her face. So even this house has been violated by such person... Sleeping in Ryouta's room is not an option, so she'll be sleeping in the guest room for today. She really doesn't want to face him after he invited this... good friend over, a good friend that somehow sided with her sister. She had enough with people who sided with that girl. She's tired of it... how she's any different? It's almost like everything she hold dear slowly taken away by that girl...
But why? Why today it sounds that she's relieved instead of getting angry? The mixed feeling of this duality, the feeling of relief and at the same time jealousy... Why? She doesn't understand it the slightest. She's feeling like she's descending to vortex of bipolarity... No, no, this is just... way too much. She doesn't have to care about that girl-- but why she felt hurt as she thought about that? Why? Why it felt hurter than before?
"Aria..." she whispered, almost voiceless.
She turned to the multi-eyed Digimon beside her.
"Oh, um... You see, humans in Japan generally have two names... the front, like Noguchi Ryouta or Nakano Koharu is called 'surname'. It's like a family name. If you have same surname, you're most likely related. Like... Noguchi Ryouta, Noguchi Renya, Noguchi Kizuna and Noguchi Inori. All of them have the same surname, that meant they're related," Koharu explained.
Out of sudden, the black haired younger teen punched the ceramic wall so hard that the tile broke and his fist bleeds... No, perhaps, he might even sustain some injury from that. It must be loud enough that five gasps came from the other room. However, before they even could open the door, Ryouta immediately locked the door.
"...Sorry Tats, stay put for a little bit and hear me out... Because I'll be ranting something really sensitive. You... you're talking as if you're thinking I haven't met Aria at all... Well, that's... that's really wrong, dead wrong... I'm not angry at you, I'm just angry at those failure of parents... So she told you, huh? That must mean that soon they're at the point of no return... Heh..."
Ryouta's voice somehow sounds really weak in purpose so that nobody heard them, but at the same time, that anger inside him welled up so much. It's a sensitive matter afterall. He raised his head to face the older teen, his black eyes shows intense flame that ready to burn someone... but it's not directed at him... it must be directed to...
"...I don't get the deal, but... Back when we're still in Nerima...There was times where Koharu always alone in meet-the-parents session... I asked her... 'Where are your parents?' Her answer was 'I think they're busy', all while forcing a smile. At the same time, when I goes to her sister's class, there they are, sitting there happily, proudly, all ready to boast about Aria... No, Aria is not at fault here... then... at the end of the day, I asked Karin, someone who's in her class. When I asked her if her parents ever dropped by... Karin gave me a questioning stare and asked me 'Does her parents even came?'. And so... I chased, I chased after those two idiots... I asked them what the heck are they thinking? And then... and then... their answer was the most sickening I ever heard."
The black flame in his eyes intensifies as he angrily balled his hands.
"To this really young me, they just told me to not care about that, then, the more persistent I am, finally her father snapped, telling me... 'That ungrateful child just keep being a parasite without any sort of achievement!'. You know what I summarized? She's not their child, Aria is not, too... But for some reason, they're left on the care of those two. Those two seem wanted the most talented of all children, all for unknown reason. Aria was there, she heard it herself. That's the source of her trauma of being afraid to be tossed away. I'm sure once Koharu's no longer a minor, they'll kick her out. It's... a really complex situation. I wanted to bust them out there, but how? How? In the end, I'm just the same brat as two of them!"
He finally unlocked the door.
"...Sorry to hold you here, but... I just can't help it when I heard you talk about Aria and how she's getting more desperate than usual... You don't have to act nice to Koharu... I was on the same page when she start to ignore Aria, but... Koharu... she always crying and apologizing to her sister in her sleep... she unconsciously yearned for her, too, Tats..."
Tatsuya was very surprised when Ryouta punched the wall, thinking that something he might had done back there could've made him angry. However, he would soon be proved wrong, since the younger teen was just angry at the situation Koharu was living, not because of her sister, but rather because of her parents' doing. With a long, winded speech that didn't suit Ryouta at all, Tatsuya couldn't help but to smile. So he did care for both of them after all, but that wasn't it. Before Ryouta could even ask if the situation seemed funny to him, he let out a relieved sigh.
-I see... Well, I'm so glad! So Koharu does love her little sister after all. I was becoming very worried about it, since her attitude seemed to confirm Aria's thoughts... so everything might turn out well, sooner or later. Whew... I told her that it would be okay, so hearing that she didn't even acknowledge her sister's existance made me furious... but it'll have to do now -he said, his smile turning wider.
-Either way... I'd like to give those two shitheads they have for parents a few words, or even a beating... though it'd depend on my mood the day I saw them. Heck, if they wanted their children to be perfect, why not building a robot or anything like that instead of adopting? Their attitude makes me sick... so sick that in fact... I'd like to punch not the wall, but their faces -he said as he cracked his right fist.
He looked at Ryouta's bleeding fist, and told him to quickly go and wash it so the wound wouldn't infect and go at worse... they needed both him and Dracomon and full strength for what was coming the day after that. Plus, Tatsuya was getting hungrier and hungrier with each second they spent with the curry getting cold.
-Well then, man, let's go to have that dinner you made for us! I'm sure it'll be great! Also, now that I know that she loves her sister, I don't have any reasons to dislike her, since let's be honest, I've only been introduced to her, ya know! -Tatsuya finished, walking off the room as he gave Koharu a sincere smile, all of this while hitting on the table with Dorumon coming beside him. Since his partner had come unscathed and Ryouta's fist was bleeding, the dragon asked him if he had done anything to him.
-Nah, chill. It was just that he got a little overheated, that's all.
The moment something loud resounded from the kitchen, Koharu got up from her seat and tried to approach the door before Ryouta closes it swiftly. Did... did it somehow turn into a brawl? Yet somehow, despite of that, there's no sound of brawling, shouting or something like that... almost like it's just a personal talk. The rest seem civil, but upon looking at Ryouta's fist and the wall... Koharu have no idea what to say. Then again, the thing is that tall guy before sounds like he's about to punch her, but now he's smiling? ..What the heck?
"Got too heated up, not his fault, don't worry," he replied quickly.
"...Are you really sure?" Koharu asked, definitely not trusting him.
"Yeah, really, now go eat. You, too, Kon-chan."
"May I politely ask you to not call me that?" the Bommon sounds very not pleased at that, but still, rather than pissed, it's more that she's pouting because of her cutesy nickname. "Or I'll call you Ryo-chan..."
"If you do, no dinner for you," Ryouta shot back. The Bommon immediately goes silent, but secretly glared at Ryouta like giving him her best 'I'm watching you' gesture. Koharu laughed at that, but still, she goes to where Ryouta's mother put her first aid kit before tending the boy's wounded fist.
