Alright. Now it was the time to hone Ankh's skills. Not actually combative skill, but rather, leadership skills. He needed the leadership, and influence to have everyone do as he say. That's right, he wanted to rule, to shape the world in his own image. That would be scary for some, but he had his reasons: To make world better place. And so, he was there to hone his skill to rule. A Spartan Grounds, the place where the soldiers were trained, in Spartan ways. The harsh training back in Ancient Greek, where the trainees were trained in life-or-death situation. The FireBeelzemon smirked, that he found a place suitable to his liking. Ankh really liked when he had to train the rookies to the death. And so, Ankh entered the Spartan Grounds, to begin with the training. But first, he needed to talk with the place's staff. He then met up with a Dinohumon, who was sharpening his swords. Ankh then walked to him, and began the conversation. "So you're the place's owner, huh?" Ankh asked the Dinohumon. "Not really, but I'm one of the staffs. So you're here for a job?" He answered, before asking back. "Exactly. I'm here for a job. And to hone my skills of influence, so I can rule over the world.""Ha-haha! Well said, man! Now then, I'll show you the cadets. Follow me." Dinohumon said as he pat Ankh's shoulder, guiding him to the Spartan Ground site. He then showed the field where the Digimons were training. Most of them did well, but the rest... did it so poorly. Dinohumon sighed, and looks like he had lost his motivation to train those cadets. Several times he tried to train them, but with no avail. Their performance hadn't been improving, and instead, keep degrading. Looks like those rookie soldiers didn't have any motivation to train. If they didn't have any, why they were in Spartan Grounds in the first place? Those weren't place for wimps, you know. "You see, I have some of the cadets, but they aren't doing well. I don't know what to do next, as they kept... being like that. Maybe you can help? Since I see you're a bit assertive and controlling type." Dinohumon asked Ankh for a favor. "Sure do. I'll give them the training they won't expect." Ankh replied. "Thanks. But don't over do it, okay? See you later!" Dinohumon bid as he went back to his place. Ankh then smirked at the cadets. Looks like they need some harsh lesson.

The Spartan Battlegrounds. A training ground open for any that were hoping to increase their skill. The training field was crowded with Digimon running drills to hone their skills as well as Digimon sparring against each other. In the midst of this chaos were two combatants sparring with a pair of wooden practice swords. A small crowd had gathered to watch the duo.
Hiro hissed as he was forced back a step by a vicious strike. His opponent capitalized on his off balance and pressed his advantage. Hiro could only continue to backpedal as his opponent danced around him, striking from multiple angles and ducking any of the wild swings that Hiro managed in between blocks. But you can only retreat so much before you are cut off, Hiro's back foot slid back and caught empty air rather than firm ground.
"Oh god!" Hiro flailed his arms as his body tumbled off the stage and he landed on the ground with a dull thump. There was a brief moment of silence before snickering and laughter could be heard. Hiro could even hear some jeering about his balance and sword skills, but they passed over him. He was a bit more occupied with the pain in his back.
"Ouch." Tetsu winced in empathy as Hiro took another fall off the sparring stage. The V-mon peered over the edge to check on his partner. "You alright, Hiro?"
"I'm good." Hiro groaned out as he laid flat on the ground. He laid there for a moment before slowly pushing himself back onto his feet. He had to use the practice sword as a crutch for a moment, but he was alright. The crowd had started to disperse now that the fight was over and Hiro could see groups of cadets just chatting to each other.
"Mmm, I think that good enough for a warm up." Tetsu chirped happily as he twirled his own sword with a slight flourish. He had a more western shaped practice sword compared to Hiro's Japanese wooden sword modeled off a katana.
"Speak for yourself." Hiro grumbled as he tried to stretch out a kink in his back. He had spent the entire spar on the defense, frantically trying to keep Tetsu's blade away. He was exhausted, not warmed up.
"Oh~ A new teacher." Tetsu said with excitement as he saw the imposing figure approach the rest of the cadets. The Digimon's excitement was quickly doused as he took a good look at the Digimon. "Beezlemon?" He whispered in disbelief.
"Hmm?" Hiro looked at the FireBeelzemon and blinked owlishly at the sight. "He looks like a biker mixed with a crow." Hiro thought aloud as he rested his sword on his shoulder.
"He's a Mega." Tetsu whimpered slightly.
"What?" Hiro hissed out. He looked over at Tetsu for confirmation and the little blue dragon nodded. "Oh man, I guess I can't complain about his credentials then, can I?"

Well, looks like among those wimpy cadets, there were promising ones. He saw a boy with spirit as he was sparring with Veemon, with swords. Seriously, a human wielding swords on Digimon? That was something rare to see. Of course, it wouldn't be interesting if there weren't crowds watching them. Looks like they could be trained... in Spartan way.
And so, Ankh walked towards the group, and giving them an applause after the crowd dismissed. The smirk decorated the Mega's face, and the flames on his wings burned radiantly. Looks like the Veemon was a skilled swordsman, but as for his tamer, though... He was a no-go, or should I say... a wimp. Of course, they would need one, rough, training. Rough enough to make you spit blood, to have your bones drop off from your body, and to make your mind scarred forever.
"Heh. Looks like you're not good enough on the swords, huh? Your partner might kill you if you're not strong enough to endure it." Ankh commented on Hiro's poor performance. Not to mention he had heard the comments about how poorly the boy performed before, really. All those chuckle and sneers made Ankh intrigued to train them... in Hell's style.
"Don't worry. I'll train you. That's if you can endure it, because it won't be your standard training. I promise you all will be thrilled." Ankh said before he cocking the hammer on his arm cannon, Berenjena Fuego. He was ready to train them in hellish training! It won't be surprising, considering how Ankh was. Assertive, power-hungry, and... chaotic. Prepare for the life insurance!
"By the way, I'm Ankh. I'll be your drill instructor. I won't go easy in this training, so don't hope too much." Ankh introduced himself. Well, that was a bit jarring just with his appearance alone. And who knows what kind of training he would give to them?

Hiro swallowed involuntarily as Ankh came near them. The guy was a lot more intimidating up close. Seriously, he needed to bend his neck back so he could look up at the Digimon's face. The biker clothes and giant arm cannon did not make things better.
"Yeah, I'm not good with swords." Hiro was proud of himself. He managed to speak that line normally rather than squeaking it. It was the truth at least. He had no experience with swords. Well, he had a single lesson years ago but the only thing he could recall from that lesson was how to grip a sword properly.
So Tetsu had been right. This guy was their new instructor. Hiro grimaced as he realized that his warm up spar with Tetsu had caught the guy's attention. He was kind of divided. On one hand, it looked like they were going to get some extra attention and possibly get stronger. On the other hand, he had seen Full Metal Jacket back in the states and he was already having flashbacks.
"We'll take whatever you can dish." Tetsu accepted the challenge with fire in his eyes. That wasn't too much of a surprise. Tetsu was getting pumped.
Hiro sighed but let a bit of his partner's spirit wash over him. He tightened his grip on his sword and met Anhk's gaze.
"I guess we're in your care." Hiro gave the polite answer reluctantly. He was pretty sure if he tried to run, he wouldn't get far and the resulting punishment would be worse than the training. "Fighting." He said and pumped a fist into the air. It would have been encouraging if Hiro hadn't said it halfheartedly.

So, Hiro was a bit reluctant to be in this training, while Tetsu was fired up. Hmm, both of them seemed to be nice combination. One reluctant, aloof wimpy dork and an enthusiast, hot-blooded Veemon. Wonder how he could dish some healthy dose of explosion on them anyway. Tetsu seemed to be fine about it, but Hiro on the other hand... He needed extra dose of it.
And so, here they were. They were about for a rough, intense, and hellish training. So yeah, they had guts to do it, at least. But what about stamina and tiredness? That could go later. All he need was to see how determined they were to pass this fickle training.
"So, I hope you're ready, because the training will begin soon. You can take a break from your sparring, for 10 minutes." Ankh informed them as he went off somewhere. Then then went to check other trainees, and they seemed to be... prepared. But he was irked when some of them played around, though. The heck they thought this was?! A playing ground of some sort?
Those aside, he found the candidates here were so promising. No wonder why they would call it a "Spartan Grounds". Because, everyone were trained in Spartan roughness, much like what happened in Sparta, Greece many centuries ago. They were the best soldiers, selected by tight training process, to make sure the was is won absolutely.
And so, after the looking around, Ankh returned to where Hiro and Tetsu were. He saw the potential for the Veemon, But the human? It was different story, unless he could pull it out in some way... And this was the time. He would look forward what these guys can offer. An entertainment, or a boredom?
"As you see here, the trainees here are also eager to be strong. They will put their best into the training, and they won't hold back. What ever challenge they'll take, they do their best. And you know why this place is called "Spartan Training Ground"? It's because the trainees are trained in a way similar to the one in Sparta, Ancient Greek. The soldiers were trained so harshly and vigorously, so they became the toughest warrior to stand out in the battlefield. But the problem is, do you have the mettle for that?" Ankh said before he asked Hiro and Tetsu.

"We're ready for anything." Tetsu cheered. He was a little frightened of the Mega level Digimon right in front of him. It was a Virus Mega and his sense of self preservation was screaming at him to trip Hiro and run the other direction as fast as he could. Luckily for all of them, Tetsu was good at ignoring that part of himself.
"We wouldn't be here if we thought we couldn't handle it." Hiro said blithely. He wasn't looking forward to the training but he wasn't about to run. He needed to get stronger and if he needed Spartan Training to get there, he would do it. Just under protest to make himself feel better.
Still they had ten minutes and Hiro was going to make the most of them. His first thought was to collapse and see if it was possible to nap for ten minutes, but he threw that thought away. With a small sigh, Hiro started to stretch. He had Tetsu help him out a bit to limber his body up. He was a slow starter and he needed a bit of time to get his body warmed up properly. The stretching would help and hopefully keep him from cramping in the midst of training.
With a small wince, because of Tetsu's overzealous help, Hiro walked back over to Anhk and stood in line with his sword lying idly on his shoulder. Next to him, Tetsu was bubbling over with excitement.
"Oh man, I wonder what we're going to do. I mean, obvious there is going to be drills, lots of drills, but this guy is a Mega so there's got to be a spin on it." Tetsu babble as he couldn't contain his excitement. Hiro shot him a weird look as he continued. "Maybe we'll have to carry each other while being chased by Garurumon or pull boulders up a mountain, or..." And here Tetsu's eyes got a little star-y. "Maybe we'll have a training montage."
"That's... not a real thing, little buddy." Hiro said as he wondered what it would be like to think like Tetsu for a day. He doubted he would get anything done, but it would probably be entertaining. "In real life, that's just months of training with the same background song on loop."
"Hmph, not with that attitude."

(OOC: Part 1 ends after Hiro's next post.)
Oh, so they were determined to accept the challenge, despite its difficulty? Interesting. However, each decision came with its own consequences. If you decide to take the challenge, better to see what it would have for you. Especially if the challenge was rather... challenging. Or worse. It could be their grave if they weren't careful.
And so, the wimpy boy decided to steel himself up. That was good. Now they were ready for it. The drill of Hell. They must prepare for everything. Stamina, endurance, and quick responses. Because... this would be full of surprise. The fiery Mega then thought of what he could do to make the training more... jarring.
"Brace yourself, because it would be the training you can't forget for the rest of your life." Ankh said.
He then overheard about having been chased by Garurumon, or pull boulders up to a mountain. Well, those were outrageous enough for his senses. But he wanted more. More challenge they wouldn't expect to happen. That would worth their time, and their strength. Looks like those guys had mettle to do that.
"So, you've been trained? I doubt so. I mean, you seem to be not strong enough, but I'm sure you can pull it off." Ankh said to Tetsu. "If I were you, I would rather to be chased by MetalGarurumon instead. That way I could train myself to fly faster."
Ankh then polished his guns while waiting for the break to be done. Man, he couldn't wait for throwing some bombs and explosions at them. Those cadets seemed to be ready enough, as were the others. So, use the break time to prepare as soon as you can. Ankh would go HARD. He then let out a devious smirk as he imagined what were their responses when they were trained.

"I don't think I could outrun a Metal Garurumon." Tetsu said as he tilted his head. There was just too much of a difference between a Mega and a Rookie level. He guessed he could get Hiro to Digivolve him, but V-dramon was built more for power and stamina than speed and agility. "Maybe if I turned into Lighdramon?"
"MetalGarurumon?" Hiro had pulled out his Digivice to find the same drop. The Digivice displayed a robotic wolf and he swallowed hard at the level and description of the attacks. That was frightening and totally on another level. He shuddered as he realized that the Digimon in front of him was on the same level.
"Even as Lighdramon I don't think I could outrun a MetalGarurumon. It has jet boosters." Tetsu seemed to come to a conclusion that was correct even if the reasoning was inane. The V-mon seemed a little disappointed in himself over the answer before perking up as he realized that he had a new goal to achieve. He would get strong enough and fast enough to outrun a MetalGarurumon.
Hiro sighed briefly at his partner even as the other Digimon slowly started to gather in formation. The break was over and it was time for training. There was a feeling of excitement and anticipation in the air.
Hiro shuddered at the smirk on Anhk's face. He took a good look at his practice sword to make sure it was alright. He had a feeling that if he had anything less than the best in effort and equipment, then he was going to be in big trouble. Not finding any flaws and sure he could get Tetsu to make him a replacement, Hiro steeled himself for training.
"Well, here we go."

Alright, the break time passed. It was time to kick the trainee's asses. Ankh then went to take a megaphone, so he could shout to the trainees to gather, so the training can be begun. Ankh took a breath, before he let out a loud shout. Some of the trainees could see it coming, as the means of the start of hellish training. "ATTENTION TO ALL YOU LITTLE SQUIRTS! YOU HAVE ONE MINUTE TO STAND UP IN THE LINE! MAKE SIX LINES IN FRONT OF ME, AND TIDY YOURSELF! GO TO THE VOICE SOURCE, NOW! ONE! TWO! THREE!..."As Ankh shouted, the trainees were alerted and quickly tidied themselves, before going to him. He was counting up to 60, which meant they only have time until exactly 60 seconds. Well, all that shouting made the jarring impression to the cadets, especially that Ankh seemed to count rather quick. The trainees, all of them being in rookie level then gathered in front of Ankh, making six lines and eight rows. Tetsu and Hiro could be counted among them, if they decided to join. However, some of them didn't make it before Ankh counted past 60, which meant they were late. Ankh noticed the late-comers joining up into the lines. Well, looks like they could be given some kind of punishment. Also, these trainees looked a bit unprepared mentally... although they tried their best to brace themselves. All those sights made the flaming demon stare at them with annoyed look. It was time to give a downer speech. "Greetings, cadets. I'm Ankh, and I'm the part-timer instructor in Spartan Training Ground. As you see, I'm new here, but I will give you the most thrilling training you can't imagine. I see you all have mettle to be stronger, and more powerful than ever. But the problem is, can you face the challenge? Can you steel your resolve for that?!"All those speeches made some of the trainees unnerved, from his tone alone. They suddenly lost their steeled resolve, and trembled, instead. Ankh noticed this, and looks like he was about to bring up a punishment. Especially to the latecomers. "Alright, I notice some of you came late. I marked my eyes on you, so you can't lie or get away from the punishment. SO! Those who came late, come in front of me, NOW!" Ankh ordered. The late trainees then went to Ankh and stood in front of them. The Mega then looked at each of them. A Gabumon, Goburimon, Chuumon, and Dracmon. They looked a bit undetermined, as they stood with a bit... shaky legs. Ankh scoffed at them, looking them as somewhat, unworthy cadet. "I wonder what makes you prepare so slowly. One minute was enough to prepare stuffs, is it not?" Ankh asked. "Yes, sir!" The latecomers answered. "And so, why are you so late? Are you not fast enough or something?""No, we're not fast enough, sir!" "I see... Next time I don't want see such mistake. As the punishment, you all will do push-ups, sit-ups, and squat jumps, 20 times each. Now!"The latecomers then did the punishment as Ankh said. First, they did push-ups, counted by themselves. Ankh just looked at them carefully, to make sure they were on their own track. After push-ups, they then would do sit-ups, and then ended by squat jumps. Looks like it was the beginning for the Spartan-style training.

Hiro slide into formation and Tetsu did the same. He hadn't seen Full Metal Panic, but he had seen enough parodies of the Drill Sargent to know better than be late into formation. The fact that some Digimon took longer than sixty seconds to get into the lines. It wasn't that hard of an order, did they really have trouble with it?
"That's... kind of sad." Hiro murmured as he watched the Digimon quail under the Mega's stare and orders.
"I guess they were surprised." Tetsu hummed. Anhk was kind of scary. He had to resist the urge to duck and run when the Mega yelled at them. He wouldn't be surprised if all the other Rookie Digimon had to resist as well. "Too startled to get into line."
"Yeah, that makes sense." Hiro wished he could day that he was standing ramrod straight. That he was firm and stoic in the face of overwhelming presence and authority. He wished he could say that. His left arm was trembling. His right arm was only still thanks to how tightly he was gripping his sword.
So this was a Mega level. Hiro couldn't even think about fighting something of this level. But then again, just a little while ago, he couldn't even think about undergoing Spartan Training along side his bipedal dragon partner, so hopefully he was just getting ahead of himself.

Okay, after the punishment, the late-comers returned to their standby position. Ankh then looked at each of them, and then he instructed them, "Okay, maggots. I consider you've learned from your mistake, and won't repeat that again. Next time I see such disobedience, I won't give you lenience. You can return to the formation, now!" "Yes, sir!"
The late-comers then returned into the main lines, joining the rest of the group. Okay, so the drill command begun. Everyone readied themselves, in their standby position. Some of them chattered, and tried not to be heard by the instructor. Ankh was scary to them. It was like he was sent from the hell to chop off their heads, but oh well.
"A TEEEEEEEEEEN~ HUT!!!" Ankh shouted as he instructed the cadets to be in standby position. After the cadets were in standby position and stopped talking, Ankh was ready to shout another command. "STAND AAAAAAT~ EASE!" Ankh shouted again to instruct the cadets to stand at ease. After ten seconds of standing at ease, he instructed again, "READY FRONT!"
The cadets then returned into their standby position, and then here was where the drill commands training started. Ankh then looked at the lines, and it seemed a bit... untidy. So yeah, a command can fix it. "COVEEEEEEER~ HUT!" Ankh instructed the Rookies to do a cover, to straighten the lines from front to back. After the line were straightened, he ordered, "READY FRONT!"
The cadets then got back into their position. Looks like the training was a bit jarring, given how strict the instructor was. That's right. Ankh wanted them to taste a bit of disciplinary, and no one could get away from that. One more command to tidy the entire line. "DRESS RIIIIIIIGHT, DRESS!!!" Ankh ordered them to dress right. They then dressed to their right until the line was completely in order, and straightened from left to right. After that... "READY FRONT! STAND AT EASE, HUT!"
After dressing right, the cadets then went back to standby position shortly before going to stand at ease by his next order. Ankh then gave them a speech. "Now we're beginning our training. Brace yourself, because it may cost you your own well-being. If you want to be strong, then take all the risk. If any one of you want to forfeit from this training, go ahead. Once you decide to join the training, you can't go back at that point. Is that clear?!" "SIR, YES SIR!" The cadets answered as they went into the standby position, before standing at ease again. "Any one of you, who is not ready yet to join the training can exit from the line, now!"
Soon, after Ankh's command, the ones who are not ready yet to follow Ankh's "intense training" exited from the lines. He could see the Gabumon from earlier, a Coronamon, a Toyagumon, and some of other Rookies. Around eight Digimons exited from the line, due to them being aware of what kind of training Ankh would do.

Hiro felt his eyebrow twitch a little as he followed the commands that Anhk gave them. There was nothing wrong with discipline. He had been in martial arts long enough to know the value of following orders, not to mention that Japan had instilled that already into his mind. That didn't mean he liked following orders.
Then Anhk basically gave them a way out. Hiro looked over at the line wistfully. If he was being honest, he would have liked to jump over the line. He wasn't a big fan of the whole Spartan, push yourself beyond logical limits, training. He preferred efficient training. But he wasn't trying to win at sports or train for a marathon. He was trying to learn how to fight Digimon, creatures stronger than he was on a fundamental level.
Hiro sighed as he watched a couple of the cadets walk over the line.
"Well, no going back now."
Hiro felt like crying crocodile tears as he realized he had settled to do stupidly hard training for beings stronger than him. There was no way this was going to end well.

After the ones who refused to proceed into the training exited the line, it remained only the ones who wanted to continue. While some of them still wondered what kind of training Ankh would commence, some another were aware of it, and they braced themselves. Maybe Ankh could see Hiro and Tetsu as the latter. So, no one could fall back from the training from this point.
Those two looked ready for extra hard training, no matter how hard it is. Also, this wouldn't be something that could be taken lightly, period. Who knows if there was someone who died during the training? No, it won't. Don't worry, because the medics would be ready. But still, some of them might get hurt, though.
"Listen! We are going to conduct a special training, which trains all of your ability to their utmost limit. SO! I consider you, in front of me, are ready to go through all the training process. Before that, I need your conviction from all of you. ARE YOU READY?!" Ankh asked. "SIR, YES SIR!" "Alright. Now I really consider you ready. So, we shall begin the mobilization. READY FRONT, ABOUT FACE, HUT!"
The trainees then went back to the standby position. And the mobilization was about to begin. "You all will be mobilized to the first training area. Mobilization began from the rightmost line from me. Begin mobilization, now! MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!"
So, the mobilization began from the rightmost line from Ankh. The trainees then ran towards the first training area, guided by Ankh. After they arrived on the first training area, the trainees then reformed the line, minus the forfeited trainees. The first training area was a running track with ramps. But the ramps had the oil slicks applied, so, whoever would run on it would be tripped. But if they careful enough, they could run over it.
"Okay. I want you to run over the slippery ramp, and running through the running track back and forth. It should be easy enough if you can walk careful. You have a time for 5 minutes, and you can't stop running until the time's up. 5 minutes... begun from now!" Ankh explained about the training, before he instructed the trainees to begin the training.
He then blew the whistle, so the trainees ran to the running track while running over the oily, slippery slope.

Hiro ran long with the line in a steady clip to the course that Anhk had set up. It was a running track, but there were ramps set up alongside it. At first, Hiro was confused. While ramps would add variety to a running track, it would be easier to just throw them at a forest or mountain if they wanted an uneven running course. Then he noticed the stuff on the ramp and felt a small twitch build up.
Oil. The ramps would be slick and difficult to run over. If you took them fast you would slide fall. The more time you took, the more oil coated your body and make it harder to complete the course.
"Well, let's see how this goes."
Hiro held back until he was at the back of the pack and waited until the others had mostly clambered over the ramp in a mess of swinging limbs and cussing. Going over the ramp was a hassle, Hiro slipped and fought for his balance over the entire up hill, but it was easier without others fighting to his side and grabbing his limbs for leverage. Hiro slid down the ramp rather than trying to run down it. He didn't trust his balance to try running down.
"Full power! Charge"
Tetsu took a bolder approach. Rather than try to think his way through, the little dragon simple powered through on determination and solid footwork. He slipped and fell in his climb up the ramps, but he got back to his feet in an instant and threw himself back at the course with a dogged determination. He kept to the front of the pack, making up for every fall with a dash on the even parts of the track.

The training was indeed rough. Not only the cadets failed, but the track was way tricky. So, Ankh had to do this one trick. Either they run, or they die. Ankh then cocked the hammer on his arm cannon, and then... he pointed it at the running track!
"Is that all you got, wimps?! Now what if I add fire into oil? Will you run for your life?!" Ankh asked menacingly at the cadets, threatening them to burn the track if they weren't serious enough. This drove them to run faster, and managed to get over the slippery slope.
As for that Veemon... he was trying hard to pass, but failed. And Hiro on the other hand, was no slouch at all. Using the others' arms for leverages, he could climb up that slippery ramp. Wow, looks like he had some brains in him. Maybe he could be promising cadet? Well, whatever. Looks like the time was about to run out... and then here they go.
