Hagurumon and Solarmon followed along after their Tamer, neither daring to speak a word, uncharacteristically. They knew the last few months had been building to this moment, and Souji was caught up in his own thoughts too much to hear them even if they bothered to speak at all.
They hadn't quite expected the walk to be so long, however, through a half-destroyed city, some of the larger buildings slowly reverting to datastreams infront of them.
“We're nearly there, are you ready?”
Souji's voice seemed louder then usual, echoing off the abandoned buildings nearby. He held up his gunmetal grey D-Arc, glancing over his shoulder, as they neared their opponent.
“We're ready, Souji,” Solarmon replied, calm as ever.
“Yeah, let's kick some ass!” Hagurumon punched the air in response.
Souji came to a stop, leaving distance between himself and his foes, for the moment, eyes darting around, ever the tactician.
“So, you came,”
Souji nodded, “Of course I did. It's our fault that all this happened, Jai,”
“Yeah. It kinda is, isn't it?” the other teen sneered, pulling out his own D-3, and running a finger over the screen, almost considerately, “how about I alleviate that guilt by wiping you off the face of the Digital World?”
“You're more than welcome to try,” Souji continued in a monotone, raising his own Digivice.
The time for talking was over.
“Bio-Merge, activate!”
“Bio-Merge, now,”
Both combatants were enveloped by blinding light as they were transformed, merging with their partners.
“Hagurumon Bio-Merge to...TigerVespamon,”
“Solarmon Bio-Merge to...MedievalDukemon,”
Souji felt his mind, soul, and body split as both of his partners transformed at once. The sheer enormity of the power he was now in control of was almost overwhelming, even now.
“--...Bio-Merge to...TyrantKabuterimon!”
Souji could almost see Jai's...soul? Consciousness? Whichever, inside of TyrantKabuterimon. It matched the snarling, vicious exterior of his foe.
The battle was joined almost instantly, a blur of explosions, magic, and quick-strike slashes, all three Digimon moving far too fast for the human eye to properly comprehend.
The twin Digimon had an advantage, however, beyond the fact that the same person was controlling their forms. As twins, they were weaker than the average Digimon, when seperated, but together they were almost unstoppable, far more powerful than any one Digimon. Or so they'd always thought, at least, despite Souji's claims to the contrary.
TigerVespamon was the first to fall, blasted away by an explosion of energy from TyrantKabuterimon, disappearing behind a building. Unconscious? Reverted? Or dead? Souji couldn't tell, he just knew he couldn't sense TigerVespamon right now, and there was no time to check.
He took the oppurtunity to drive Dynas deep between TyrantKabuterimon's jaws, and plunge it deep, shattering the core of the other Digimon. An explosive flash of light, before pixels of data began flowing into MedievalDukemon, as he absorbed the data of his foe.
Jai was left on the floor in his partner's place, bleeding heavily from his arm, where Dynas had caught him. It was a simple matter to bandage the wound, even in such a huge, armored form. The two stared at each other for several long moments.
A digitama fell from above, despite Souji having thought that he'd destroyed TyrantKabuterimon for good.
“No more,” he raised Dynas once again, but rather than hitting the egg, he drove it down through Jai's D-3, shattering it instantly. Another glance at Jai, and he turned, beginning to slowly walk towards where TigerVespamon had fallen.
“...You're letting me go? Why?” Jai was hauling himself into a sitting position.
“Because you used to matter to me,”
“...'Used to', huh?”
“You're lucky. I nearly broke my 'no killing' rule. Don't let me, or anyone else see you ever again, Jai, or I'll be coming back for you,”
In a blur of red, the armored hero was gone, leaving a battered and broken dark crusader to lie in the rubble with his broken Digivice, and Digitama.
“Maybe it'd be better if you do,”
