Personality: 'Haruka' is a very shy, modest teenager. With a girlish adoration for cute things, she's the type who will fawn over puppies and babies, but get quite embarrassed just being near people of her own age. Though she is shy, she's also intelligent and a mostly calm person. In general, Haruka would rather listen than speak, but also loves to give advice to make those around her feel more at ease. Always loyal, she would easily be happy to stick up for her friends despite the stuttering it'd include- and though it takes time for her to make them, she's always happy to smile for them, too. Generally, Haruka is just a kind and quiet soul- a quiet soul that, if given the right circumstances, would surely shine brightly from the kindness within.
Appearance: Despite being sixteen, Haruka has not gone through puberty very well, and is streamline and flat as a board all over- which, as she thinks she's a girl, can cause some awkward moments for her. She has a soft face with bright, round eyes of a hazel color, which match well with her long brown hair, usually kept in either one or twin braids to her upper back.
Though her face is soft and round, she has somewhat broad shoulders for a teenage girl- just enough to cause confusion even for herself if she were to look in the mirror. She is usually seen wearing some sort of frilly skirt, with her upper body usually covered with long sleeves for warmth. Most of her clothes appear to be homemade, or at least fixed by hand in various spots.
Although she believes she's not gone through much puberty, Haruka is a bit on the tall side for a girl, and is defintively taller in her torso than her legs. She has no notable body hair naturally, but tends towards a constantly flushed face that makes her olive skin more notable.
Personal History: Haruka was born a boy named Hotaka, just before his twin sister Etsuko. From a young age, Hotaka's preference for hobbies such as cooking and handicrafts caused distance with his strict father, who wanted him to be a manly, strong boy. As a crybaby of a child, Hotaka was often berated for his preference of cute things, and his sister was usually the one to stand up for him. After his father finally became violent and he ended up in the hospital, their parents divorced due to his mother's worry, and the family moved to Kushiro in Hokkaido, in hopes of living a new, more peaceful life.
Unfortunately, the abuse of his father had caused mental and physical brain trauma. While in the hospital, he remained on life support for two months, and it was discovered his father had abused him before without his mention. When he awoke, the trauma and damage caused acute amnesia- and, due to the few memories he had in the back of his mind being taunted for his girly habits, along with his hair having grown quite a bit over the months, Hotaka came to believe he /was/ a girl. Not wanting to cause a ruckus with him, his mother and sister decided to support him as 'Haruka' until he seemed more ready to accept his actual gender. He was home schooled once he reached middle age thirteen, and has since lived his life as a normal girl...Who just has something weird on her body that they don't need to get rid of.
