*hugs Meip* A swamp on the Overworld would be cool, yes. I'll let you decide where it should go. I am absolutely flattered, you guys. I honestly did not think this would get such good reception. Thanks a tonne (cue epic self-esteem boost). ^^ I'll keep you all posted on the map progress in thishere thread. As Meip noticed, the central continent of Algorithm is based almost directly off the official DFRP map Meip created. Edit: Oh lol, forgot I was logged in as my new character. This is indeed SPACE_LEMON. xD

Okay, hither cometh my suggestion for Area/Board Divisions. Basically, I propose a hierarchy of three levels: - Regions: These will act as BOARDS (or Sections). It's not possibly to post in these; they merely group together the various areas. The Regions would most generally be "realms" of the Digital World - Empyrean Skies, Dark Area, Void, etc. - although the Overworld - being the most complex by far of these realms (and largest, in relation to the Empyrean Skies and Dark Area) - is divided into 8 separate regions. The "Giants" also fall under their own board (so technically they would count as a Region, but please no one call them this -_-). - Areas: So, each Region is divided into four Areas (originally the number of Areas per Region were going to vary - which makes sense - but then OCD struck). In other words, each Board is divided into four SUB-BOARDS. It is the Sub-boards for the specific areas that players can post in. However, each Area further contains multiple locations. - Locations: Because the number of specific locations in the Digital World is so large (especially with my map), it seems logical for my that all these locations do not get their own sub-board. Instead, players post in the AREA in which the location is located. This is how I propose it'll work: Each Area's Sub-board has a locked, stickied thread named "Important and Note-worthy Locations". In this thread is a LIST of all the important and note-worthy locations in the Sub-board's Area, which a description of each of these locations as if each were a separate board (I.e. the kind of descriptions we currently have for location sub-boards). The person who starts a thread in this area - IF they thread begins in one of these listed locations - creates the thread title as follows: "[location name here] thread name here". For example: " [Trailmon Terminal] Arrival at Terminus City" (which would be posted in the Sub-board "Terminus City" under the board "The Digital Core"). If no location is specified, we assume that the thread takes place at a generic spot(s) in the area. Note that - since it doesn't add to the number of boards - there may be a virtually limitless number of Locations per Area, and there should probably be a "Location suggestion thread" somewhere on the forum, or even a "Location application thread" (for example: a business opened by a character could become a location if popular enough). Keep in mind that more Locations are bound to be added all the time, so there may need to be a notice to check the Location threads regularly. Righto, lemme now list the Regions, Areas and Locations as I have worked them out (again, new ones in Blue. I'll add descriptions later; Also "***" is a placeholder for potentially more locations):
The Overworld - The Continent of Algorithm The Digital Core: Terminus City:- Trailmon Terminal- Blimpmon Terminal :: For those seeking a more relaxed, view-rich mode of transport, the large airport-like Blimpmon Terminal provides public transport via Blimpmon. Although the Blimpmon generally move between the sky ports of the various skyscrapers of Terminus - providing in-city transportation - they may also be used to reach any other part of the Overworld, and even the Empyrean Skies, but of course for a much higher price. - Modem River :: The Moden River winds about the eastern edge of Terminus, cutting a small sliver of the city off on the river's eastern bank. Large bridges cross the river, and a number of river ports serve as hubs of aquatic transportation along the river, both in Terminus, and all the way along the river, north to the Bitrate Peaks and south to the Macro Ocean.- Infinity Coliseum- The Sky Tower :: Dwarfing everything else on the Terminus City skyline is the Sky Tower, a kilometre-and-a-half-high skyscraper filled with residences, businesses, a mall, a sky port, and - at the very top - the governing seat of Terminus City.- Terminus Plaza :: The largest city square in the Digital World, Terminus Plaza is a kilometre-wide, ornately decorated space near the middle of the city, surrounded by some of the cities most breathtaking feats of architecture and engineering in the forms of monuments and skyscrapers alike. The Plaza is often used for gatherings of many kinds, political rallies, and political and municipal speeches from a large podium suspended over one end of the Plaza. Large decorative fountains adorn the space, and a main road of the city marks the square's southern edge.- Terminus City Way Station :: The Way Stations are portals located all over the Digital World that allow instant travel between them. It consists of a platforms inscribed with the Ruins of the Beams. It is unclear who created the Way Stations, but their purpose is most helpful. The Terminus Way Station is located in the north-eastern corner or Terminus Plaza, and at the geographical centre of the surface of the Overworld.
-*** The Network Plains:- The Modem River :: Winding across the plains of Algorithm is the Modem River. This large, gentle river - more than a hundred metres wide at places - runs from the Bitrate Peaks in the north to the shores of Cypher Jungle in the south. Where the roadways of the Digital World cross Modem, large bridges of various designs span the waters. A large elbow in the River curves about the eastern edge of Terminus City. As the river is so wide, it serve as a highway for aquatic transport from the Macro Ocean to the inland of the Continent of Algorithm and Terminus City.- The Green Sea (Sea of Grass) :: The bulk of the Network Plains consists of lush, magnificently green grassland. These plains of grass are referred to as a "sea" due to the flat nature of the Network Plains, resulting in the illusion of a sea of greenery if viewed from afar. At most points along this "sea", the green flats appear to stretch on forever, only interrupted by the Moden River.- The Gigaflop Savannah - East :: The Gigaflop Savannah marks the transition between the Network Plains of the Digital Core, and the Folder Desert of the Western Arids. The Easter half of the Savannah is the lusher portion, only somewhat more arid than the Green Sea, with the grass becoming a more golden-brown than green. Acacia-like trees also dot these golden plains here and there.-*** The Undercity:A labyrinthine underground network of sewers, basements and ancient tunnels that stretch for miles beneath Terminus City. Many illegal activities allegedly take place along the many corridors and underground waterways of the Undercity. The Undercity eventually leads into the fabled Exabite Caverns of the Overworld via a large near-vertical tunnel called the Drop.- Terminus Sewers- The Thieves' Guild of Terminus- The Catacombs- The Drop- The Code Core-*** Mainframe Hills:- Village of Underhill- Mount Iso- Ancient Mines of Iso-***
The Overworld - The Continent of Algorithm The Eastern Timberlands: The Server Woods:- The Great Wall-The Mansion of Tears -*** Terra Grove:-Spartan Training Grounds - The Nest-*** The Tyrant's Labyrinth:-*** The Village of Beginnings:- The Tree of New Life- Toy Town- Server Woods Way Station-***

That brings the total number of Sub-boards in the Digital World up to 48, which is 9 more than what we currently have. This may seem like a crapload, but keep in mind that - if we were to have a sub-board for every location, we'd have 180 sub-boards for all of these locations, so I think my proposed system is a good compromise. Also, I think we should make certain boards only accessible to members of certain levels. Like, up to Rookie only the Algorithm boards would be open to you (the main continent, in other words). Then with Champion, the Macro Ocean, the Empyrean Skies and the Dark Area are unlocked; and with Ultimate, the Verge and Void become available to you. I'm also considering creating a board for Null Space, but this would be plot-specific and definitely locked to characters lower than Mega, I'd say. I'm considering this because Null Space may need to be visited for the Beam-related plot I'm gonna suggest later.

How will this dramatic change be implemented, though?
We'll attack Luminas soon and potentially meddle with the Origin of Light and Ygdrassil. Perhaps Ygdrassil would choose to suddenly reboot us all, or our meddling with the Origin would cause the world to reboot itself... Seems like a better explanation than it just magically happening right? xD
Then we'd all wake up in whatever random spot in the 'new' world... Mostly ignorant of it's new layout. It would then lead to a new age of discovery on the digital world. Or a timeskip?

Majin: Actually, there's a simpler solution: No one ever really decided to explore past the ocean xD. As for how the Dark Area is suddenly beneath the world, it was always like that. What, you thought there was a sea between the main continent and the Dark Area? You're imagining things, bro! xD It's a retcon. The characters are not aware that any sort of change occurred - to them, it's as if everything was just always like this. It's only us - the players (I.e. beings that exist outside this world and story) that are aware that anything changed; and that's okay, because we - unlike the characters - know that this is fiction. @meip: x3

Either one works. Personally, I like the whole 'age of discovery' feel a potential reboot/disaster in Luminas would bring. It would make our characters realize there's a whole new world out there and want to come out and explore it, rather than retconning it and... Just assuming 'been there, done that'.
And the more I think about it, the more I feel a timeskip would be neccesary. Just so the scientists can build their labs in the beams and such.

I still prefer the retcon because the Beams and Verge Gates and whatever are supposed to be REALLY ancient, so I don't want them to be "new".

To be honest Space, I kindof don't like the idea of having the Way Stations in the first place. They seem to be to convenient for this "New Age of Discovery". It also get rid of any need for there to be Trailmon at all. At very least, I don't believe they should just be Retconned in as if they always existed since they would then cause alot of characters actions nonsensical. I mean, what would be the point to travel all the way from Terminus to Whitewater when one can just teleport there at no cost at all.

To be frank, I like everything that Lemon's presented. It's fresh and original, and I can tell he put quite a bit of time and energy into working on something that's both unique and lore-friendly from a Digimon point of view.
