Ren, on alert as he was, only barely had time to dive out of the collapsing tunnel. "Luce'! Behind you!" He scrambled to his feet, trying to ignore the chills that laughter sent down his spine. Something was attacking them. He knew what that meant. It was time to call on his Ocean spirits. " Execute," he cried, raising the now-glowing D-scanner. "Spirit Evolution!" Scanning the ring of digicode that rose from his hand, Ren was engulfed in a cocoon of glowing lines of digicode. His body formatted to something more appropriate for a fight, and Hookmon stepped out of the collapsing cocoon of code with his cannon raised. "Hookmon!"

It comes to a stop behind the throne, trailing metallic claws along the top of the chair's back. Fifteen feet tall, maybe a little more, with glowing red lights set into its body that look twice as sinister in the darker conditions of the cave. The voice that comes from where its mouth should be is unpleasant. A bizarre droning, screeching sound. Like...wasps on a chalkboard? No. That doesn't make sense. "New toys. How interesting. A human playing dressup, and another angel to consume. Delicious," Gross.
Angemon seems compelled to fight, perhaps because of the thing's demonic nature, or just a survival instinct... "Hand of Fate!" His left hand lights up with golden energy, casting light over the area. The light lances out as a beam, striking the demonic-looking Digimon in the chest.
It hisses, looking at the small burn mark near its shoulder, but brushes it off. Angemon might be strong, but he's fighting something in a higher weightclass. "Guilty Claw," The thing's hands crackle with dark red energy, as it rushes forwards and slices into Angemon. Such speed! Much power! Wow.

"NeoDevimon," explained Ren's D-Scanner. "The Artificial Fallen Angel. Avoid his razor-sharp Guilty Claws unless you want to drown in your own sorrows." Hookmon scrambled around the edge of the cavern, looking for a clear shot. NeoDevimon tore into Angemon pretty badly; he needed to buy the angel some time. And he had just the trick to do it. Boots kicking up rock dust as he slid to a halt, Hookmon turned to face the two.
"Driftwood Blockade!" A wall made of driftwood panels fitted together burst from the rock just in front of Angemon's toes, causing him to stagger back a step as the barrier rose into being between him and his devilish opponent. Hopefully that would buy Luce' the time he needed.

Angemon looks around. There has to be something he can use to help them. He could collapse the cave, but that could very easily crush Ren and himself, as well. Wait, what's that? Was that there before? He can just see it, through the tiny gaps in the driftwood shield.
A roughly-cube shaped item, seeming made of some kind of golden metal sitting on the seat of the throne. No, it definitely hadn't been there before. He looks back at Hookmon, and nods towards the throne, indicating he's going to make a rush for it.
And so he does, diving over the blockade and flying towards the throne. He grabs the cube a--and falls flat on his face. The thing seems to be stuck to the chair, and doesn't budge an inch. Unfortunately, this leaves Angemon wide open, allowing NeoDevimon to rush forwards again and kick the Angel as hard as he can. The white-winged wonder doubles over, reverting to Lucemon in a flash of red. Uh-oh.
NeoDevimon turns its gaze on the blockade, and Hookmon beyond it...

...and as NeoDevimon turns towards the Hookmon, he takes a ("Hydro Cannon!") densified cannonball of water right in the face. It rocks him back a little and fouls his vision temporarily, but dishearteningly seems to take no damage whatsoever. Great, he succeeded in annoying it. Its flailing claw as it slipped back a step blasted the corner of Ren's blockade to splinters, and it shrieked an angry wail that froze the saltwater in Hookmon's veins. That was pretty awful.
With the NeoDevimon mildly distracted, Hookmon leaped forward past it to place the barrier between them. As he ran past, his hook reached out and caught its leg, hoping to topple it. His arm was jerked backward and his momentum halted in an instant; the devil digimon's strength was shocking. He unhooked the claw and rolled to the side, raising his cannon and aiming, knowing full well the best he could do was annoy it.
Not that it would matter; he'd already pissed it off.

NeoDevimon moves forwards, bringing its claw down towards Hookmon! Oh no! Fortunately, this entire thing is packed with cliches, and so the attack is blocked. It doesn't hit Hookmon at all, he's fine! Oh. Right, something had to block the shot. It certainly wasn't the Driftwood Barrier, which shattered under the assault of the much more powerful Digimon.
Lucemon falls to his knees, physical form destabilizing as the extensive damage takes its toll on his body. He seems to almost...pixelate. "Grand Cross!" The attack more-or-less tickles NeoDevimon, due to the sheer mismatch in their power levels.
Lucemon, however, doesn't seem like he's about to get out of the way of any followup attacks that NeoDevimon might bring. The golden cube on the throne begins to glow with a faint golden light, although Lucemon is too focused on the Ultimate-level Digimon he's 'fighting'. "Stay back, Ren Campbell,"

"Not a chance on yer mother's arse," Hookmon said, stepping up next to Lucemon and raising his cannon. "Hydro Cannon!" His cannon-arm thudded as a heavy, densified cannonball of water blasted upwards- not at NeoDevimon, but at the stalactite Hookmon had noticed while on his back, about to be disemboweled. If he had bowels. Was there anything under this coat? Maybe he was the coat. Trippy. Anyway.
The stalactite shook with the blast and shifted, causing a tumble of small rocks to drop on the devil digimon's shoulders. Surprisingly, the pebbles did nothing but catch its attention, causing it to look up- ever so briefly.
"I hope ye got a plan, Luce'."

"Grand C-Cross,"
The stalactite, already weakened by Hookmon's attack, comes loose and falls towards NeoDevimon with quite some speed. It cracks over the beast's head, but knocks it around enough to buy the pair some time. Lucemon's eyes fall on Hookmon again, as he takes a deep breath.
The golden cube on the chair begins to shine brightly, lifting off the chair of its own volition and zooming across the chamber. It crashes into Lucemon, seemingly stabilizing his data, as he begins to radiate light. Golden light, filled with various Digital World letters, and characters.
"Lucemon Golden Armor Digivolve to..." Oh god, again? Did we not just do this nonsense? Stupid cliches. His body grows again, to around six and a half feet. A tail grows from his back, as most of his body becomes covered in angular, golden metallic plates. Although the glow dims, it doesn't completely dissipate, as the plates continue to give off some level of golden light, "Magnamon," And there we go, his voice changed again. Why?
That's crazy.
He sounds calm again, but...older? Like a grizzled warrior, or veteran soldier. He rises to his feet and steps infront of Hookmon, shielding him from NeoDevimon.

"I...arr. Wait, wasn't that supposed ter be mine?" Hookmon scratched his head with the hook. They'd started out following fragments of Digicode Lucemon had found in some of Grandpa's journals. They thought it must be treasure or perhaps a Spirit. And in a way it was... but new form for Lucemon. What had he called them? Digimentals. "Yarr wear the tail well mate, now kick his arse bloody."

Magnamon's fist crackles with golden electricity as he surges forwards, flying through the air as he's done before. Except without wings, this time. He seems to be a hell of a lot faster, too. "Magna Punch!" The impact of the blow can be felt even from some distance away.
Seemingly, this blow hurt NeoDevimon, who rears back, hissing and clawing at his face, where Magnamon punched him. Well, damn. Looks like a pretty serious upgrade, for KidIcarusmon. Or whatever he's called this week. The retaliatory strike wounds Magnamon, but he's burning with so much energy that he barely takes any notice. "Might wanna cover your eyes, kid," Magnamon warns Ren.

Hookmon took a few steps back, slipping behind a stalagmite on the far edge of the room. His claw slipped into a pocket on the coat and his form shimmered under the coruscating cocoon of digicode. When it cleared Hookmon was just Ren again, D-scanner in hand. The screen was glowing; he had the thought he should have it handy. Anyway, Hookmon wasn't really helpful here. Not like- who the hell was that? "Magnamon," he muttered. "Why did he turn into a blue dinosaur?"
"This is a really weird place."

Magnamon floats in close to NeoDevimon, energy crackling across his entire body, "Final Magna Miracle," A solid bubble of golden light flares into existence momentarily, vaporizing the floor immediately beneath Magnamon (who, fortunately, can fly). NeoDevimon's body starts to come apart, as he starts to revert to data. Maybe that's what Ren's D-Scanner wanted?
Who knows. Magnamon seems to be immobile for the moment, recharging after using up so much power at once, bless him.

Somehow, Ren knew he had to act quickly. Somehow, he knew what he had to do. Maybe it was the D-Scanner. He slipped around the Stalagmite and dashed across the room, skidding to a halt at the side of the hole Magnamon had left with his attack. The data was already dispersing, much of it already having naturally absorbed into Luce'- Magnamon. Ren reached out and drew the little optical scanner at the top of his D-Scanner across a spiral of glowing digicode that remained, breaking the loop and drawing a long line of it into the device. Looking down at it, Ren found several digicode symbols flashing over the screen. The most prominent one looked an awful lot like a skull and crossbones. If you used a dinosaur skull.
"Are you all right, Luce'?" he asked, concern evident in his voice. "You were pretty torn up there."

"I'm fine," His voice has this bizarre echo-like quality, up-close. Light returns to his plates as he completes recharging, "Are you?" He continues to hover a few feet above the ground, enjoying the sensation of wingless flight. Not to mention this new power! Wow, it's like being hooked up to a car battery, whatever a car battery is.
"I don't think there's any more treasure here, I'm afraid. Not sure why your Grandpa was interested in a Digimental, but maybe translating his notes will clear things up," He starts to move towards the blocked tunnel, carefully moving aside each rock that blocks his path.
That's good, for a minute there it looked like he might just blast the whole thing, likely bringing the cave down on top of him.

"I'm okay," he'd answered Luce' honestly. "Tired, hungry. Sweaty as hell. But fine. Let's get out of here. I have something I want you to look at. Could be a clue..." Ren had in fact been worrying about Magnamon blasting the tunnel clear. Once he was certain Magnamon wasn't going to bring the cave down around them, he followed along behind Luce' as he cleared the tunnel. Ren helped where he could with some smaller rocks, and otherwise stayed out the way the rest of the time. The temperature increased steadily as they got closer to the lava pit. Honestly, they should have expected something that hostile in a place like this.
Now, he had to wonder. Where would the data he'd scanned lead him?
