Haruka's pacifism towards their surroundings sent Grahm's jaw agape. The expression of agony and confusion now plastered upon his face was one of internal screaming. What the hell was this girl thinking? This place was dangerous! If not for him, Haruka might've died to that Kuwagamon, hell, HE almost died to that Kuwagamon!
"Are you SERIOUS!? What if something happened to-"
He was cut off by Kai's comment. The first time that someone had unconditionally agreed with his evaluation since arriving in this messed up "digital world" or whatever. In a way, he was beaming, but his face was never going to loosen up THAT much during this situation. It was more of an awkward, tense grin of morbid satisfaction.
"SEE?! The other guy agrees! That's got to count for something! At least let me make one hundred percent sure that you can come and go safely, I can't sit easy until I've done at least that. If I just left you and you got in trouble, I'd never forgive myself for letting an innocent girl face that kind of danger alone! I barely held off that giant bug, I don't want to think of what would have happened if I didn't tell you to run.."

Haruka blinked a couple times as most of the group seemed against her decision to stay. She frowned to herself. "Well, I dont really have anyone at home waiting for me. My parents work late and get up early, so they wouldn't particularly notice if I was gone for at least a week." She said with a shrug. It was just a fact of life, her family wasnt trying to be mean, they were just busy. She smiled at the group. "Thank you for your concern. Now that I know I can go home at anytime, I do feel better. But in all honesty, there isnt much for me at home aside from my classes." Haruka smiled at Grahm, touched by his concern.
Yukine, though, had her fur fluffed out in annoyance. "Excuse me! I may not be much now, but when Haruka gets in trouble, I will definitely be strong enough to protect her! I wouldnt let anything happen to her, she's my precious partner! I would sacrifice myself before I let her get hurt." She was very upset, and almost growling. "Would you like a demonstration?" She glared around her, tail starting to fluff up in preparation of an attack.

Zeki watched the scene unfold as he bent down to pick up the fallen pencil. He inspected it, it had some small marks in it but the tip wasn't broken so he was at least satisfied. He had a look of curiosity when the Grahm person said something about a Kuwagamon. "Kuwagamon huh..." He muttered as he took out his notebook and began writing a few details on a new page. "Well I've been here a few times and nothings happened so far. Especially while going on the train digimon; Which is still an odd experience." He said as he flipped to a new page and wrote some more. He thought it was odd that the other two there seemed to be so worried.
He personally didn't understand what the big deal was but he didn't put to much thought when Yukine became fluffier. He had an excited look on his face when the digimon kindly offered to do a demonstration. At least that's what he heard anyways. He stepped off to the side. "I would love to see one!" Zeki said in a cheerful manner.

Kai somehow doubted her parents would take that long to notice. Especially once the school called to inquire about her repeated absence. At which point... If her parents were so busy they didn't know their child was missing... Well, let's just say the courts might get involved. Negligence was a crime, after all. And where would that leave Haruka? If she wasn't dead after being attacked by a Digimon, anyways. But somehow... It didn't feel like she cared about 'reason.' What did she want here, anyways? To escape the monotony of everyday life? Such a stupid thing to risk your life and that of your partner over. Well, if Haruka and Yukine wouldn't listen to reason...
"Sure," Kai told the Digimon. He pulled out his Digivice, Kuro looking at him quizzically... But soon understanding his plan and clambering off his shoulder. "But let me give you a demonstration of my own, first." Uggh. This was such a bad idea. But it needed to be done, even if it mean playing the villain. She might be the same age as him... But the Digital World was simply no place for a tamer with an In-Training level partner. Especially when they actively denied the thought that they were in danger.
"Twin Digivolution."
"Alright! Finally! KoShiromon, Digivolve to!" "KoKuromon, Digivolve to," Good thing she'd gotten off his shoulder. This would look a lot less impressive if he was being crushed under his own partner.
"Shiromon!" The white Digimon stood in his new form, towering over the grouped humans. He must be ten feet tall, Kai guessed. And he was built like a lion... Though, lions usually didn't have a pair of tiny wings on their shoulders.
"Kuromon," was the much more subdued announcement of Shiro's sister. She did not cut nearly as imposing a figure as Shiro, standing barely four feet off the ground. Still, she dwarfed the tiny Yukine. She understood what Kai was doing... She thought.
"If you aren't at least as strong as these two... You won't last long here. Even in the outskirts of the city, Digimon this strong are hunting for weak Digimon like your partner. I will not stand by and watch as you risk not only your own life, but that of your partner. I tell you again: Go home." He tried to stay level. There was no thinly veiled threat behind his words. Kuro and Shiro digivolving was purely a visual aid, to help her understand what kind of threats there were out there. He didn't know what he'd do if she still insisted, but if Shiro picking her up by the scruff of the neck like the mother of a wayward kitten was what it took... Then so help him, that's what would happen.

Every ounce of composure Grahm might have regained due to this "Kai" guy's intervention was just drained from him, he'd just taken it too far. His digimon transformed into some kinda gnarly, monochrome monsters in front of him and he was using them to intimidate a girl, what a piece of crap excuse for a man! Grahm wouldn't have any of it, damn straight, even if he can't win a fight against those two beasts he'd surely find a way to spit in this Jerk's face, metaphorically or otherwise.
He stood up, jerking his neck side to side and stretching out his right arm. "I guess there's no convincing you, huh Haruka? Well fine, I'm not about to keep fighting an uphill battle, best thing I can do now is try and keep you safe while you venture in this wacked-out place."
He shot a murderous glare towards Kai, his expression drained of any sense of remorse. "And you, what a piece of work. You must be some kind of screwed up to get off trying to scare a girl with brute force, makes me sick..." With that, Grahm slid out his digivice and did his own crude version of Digivolution. "Bring it you piece of junk, give me all the power you've got!" Unlike his first evolution, it wasn't in a burst of light that he transformed but an explosion of blue flames streaking across his body, incinerating his clothes and eventually forming into his new outfit.
Throughout the entire process, his stare never deviated from Kai. He couldn't touch him physically, not with those guard animals, but he'd sure as hell try and make him piss himself by putting on a big scary show. "Now I'm not an idiot, I know damn well I can't take your so called partners on by myself, but like hell I'm going to let you strong-arm this girl." Grahm cocked his right arm back, elbow facing skyward and with a powerful shout struck the earth with all his might. Even someone with only his level of power was able to create a significant level of dust and debris in front of him.
After creating the crude smokescreen, he turned back and grabbed Haruka's hand. "I know I was just screaming at you about going home or whatever, but this guy's got my blood boiling ten times worse than you ever could. Come on, we're ditching this Jacka- Er, Jerkface!"

Haruka waved her hands in front of her. "Yukine, that's really unnecessary. We don't need to fight among ourselves now do we?" Haruka said, slightly nervous. She really didn't like fighting for no reason. When Zeki said he wouldnt mind seeing a demonstration, she sweatdropped. That really wasn't helping. Then....it kinda went sideways from there....
The two other Digimon partners there suddenly got bigger and a little scarier. A big lion and a big ferret were suddenly in front of Haruka and Yukine. She didnt sense any malice from them but she was frightened. They could easily have eaten Yukine in a single bite. Haruka looked at her partner, who to her credit, was still standing, though she was trembling. Kai was saying something about if Yukine wasnt strong enough to beat them, they were in a lot of trouble. Haruka thought that wasn't really fair, seeing as they had just gotten here, and that Yukine was just born recently. Kai and his partners obviously had more experience and if they were given a chance, Haruka was sure Yukine would one day grow as big and strong as these two.
But....he had a point.... Real life wasn't fair, there was no guarantee that they would always fight one-on-one and at similar levels. Haruka sighed, thinking maybe she should go home....no matter how lonely it was, at least until Yukine was stronger. But what would she do with Yukine while she was at school? Before Haruka had a chance to sort out these confusing feelings, Grahm seemed to explode in flames of anger, quite literally. He soon evolved himself and after yelling at Kai, he caused an explosion of sorts in the ground, grabbed Haruka's arm, and ran. Yukine barely had time to register what Grahm was doing before she jumped on Haruka's shoulder and held on for dear life.
After they ran a ways, Haruka pleaded for a rest. She leaned against a building, sides heaving slightly from the sudden run. "Thank you, Grahm-san, for defending me. I appreciate it." She gave him a slight smile. "But you know.... What if he's right.... I can't make Yukine grow bigger and stronger like he did. I don't want her, or you, or anyone else to die because I'm being stubborn...." She looked down at the ground.
"Haruka...." Yukine nuzzled her partners cheek. "Maybe I'm not quite as big and strong as those two, or even as dog boy here. But I will get stronger. I will evolve to protect you. That's my job and duty as your partner. Even if i get a bit scratched or bruised, that's okay. I'm here to protect you. I was born to meet you and be your partner. So please....dont make such a sad face. We'll get through this somehow. I'm sure Kai and his partners had to go through a lot to get to where they are now. So, let's go on our own adventures and have our own stories to tell them if we see them again, okay?"
"Yukine...." Haruka smiled and wiped her arm across her face. "Un, you're right." She turned to Grahm and bowed to him. "Um, if it's okay with you, we'll be in your care a little longer."
