The combined effort of both Scout's words and his left hand put Tomomi in a state of bliss. Tomomi felt as if he could fly right about now! The grin on his face could be seen from Osaka.
"Scout...I'm glad I'm helping you. I feel like..." Tomomi can't really explain how Scout makes him feel...not yet anyway... "What I'm trying to say is you're more than welcome," Tomomi finishes with a very slight blush.
"Everything else...us...I think it's best if I just start from the beginning, if that's okay." Tomomi gets solemn. His voice drops a little, quiets down. He's going to tell Scout everything. "This is really nothing compared to what you told me. I just think telling you will help you understand where I'm at." Tomomi clears his throat, and looks out to the sky, how beautiful the moon is, and starts:
"I was raised to be a farmer. I was the youngest of the family, my brother and sister had no interest in staying in Kyoto. So they finished school and started careers just to get out. It was bad. I was stuck. I had absolutely no friends, and didn't plan to make any. Why would I? I had to work almost all the time on the field. My grades were terrible, and my parents didn't care so long as the work got done and that I respected them. It didn't help at school. I was being called terrible names, beaten up. I couldn't take it much longer."
A warm smile floods Tomomi's face for a second, "Then I met a third year. His name was Jouichirou. He's....oddly like you, Scout. Brave, funny, and always there to help someone in need. He fought off the bullies and offered to walk me home. We talked the whole time, laughed, thought of good things. He did the strangest thing before getting to my house, though...he kissed my cheek. The people in Kyoto...or at least that part, were so intolerant of affection between guys. Said it was the purest form of evil, that people should be killed for it."
"Well, weeks went by and I spent a lot of time with Jouichirou. He showed me so many things, introduced me to J-Rock and Anime. We enjoyed every moment together. He was truly the best of friends...at least I thought."
"One day I went home from school and was introduced to a girl named Asoka. She was to be my girlfriend, and eventually my wife. Our parents made an arrangement. See, Asoka's family had a lot of money, and it was more of a business deal than anything else. I spent a little bit of time with her, and she was nice...but Jouichirou made me feel happy. So I spent more time with him than her. She got jealous really quickly."
At this point Tomomi's face dropped completely. "The night before I came here, I met up with Jouichirou, compelled to tell him of my families plans for me. He refused to let me do that, and he kissed me. It was my first and only kiss, and it left me beyond words. Unfortunately, Asoka was spying on us. She ran home and told my parents and called off the whole arrangement. When I got there, my father hit me. He still hasn't said a word about it. My mother wrote it off as a phase, and if there was any salvation for me as a human being I would change...but how does one change their heart?"
"I decided the only way to...fix myself...was on my own. I packed what little I owned and ran to Shibuya. I got lost in the subway and found myself in the Digital World. Your brother saved my life."
Tomomi leaned into Scout, resting his head on the taller boy's shoulder, "That's where it gets really complicated. Takahiro made me realize that there's nothing wrong with me. And I began to run with it. I felt as if I owed him my love. And Takahiro is special. He is truly a good person. But..."
Tomomi clears his throat again, as this is hard to confess, "When I met you...the true you...I was overcome with emotions. You...you really do something to me no one has ever done. I can't explain it. I had feelings for Jouichirou...but you do something else to me."
Tomomi returns to the tower of hands game, resting his open hand on the pile of hands the two shared, "I don't know what this is...but I want to be with you, I know it for sure."
Tomomi clenches his eyes, fearing the reply from this confession, "I feel terrible, though. I don't want to hurt Takahiro, he's truly one of the best persons I've ever met. But there's something about you, Scout...that lights a fire in me. And I don't ever want that to go away. With you...I feel strong...alive...and that's more than I can say than the rest of my entire life."
The confession took a lot out of Tomomi. He just laid his head against Scout, enjoying the contact between the two...but at the same time savoring the moment. At any moment Scout could break his heart, and all of this would disappear forever.
