When we last left off, Takara Kureha, Treasure Hunter Extraordinaire had finally reached his ultimate prize. Godzilla, the massive saurian monster which had been terrorizing the globe, had been brought to its knees. With a drill sticking through its chest, it seemed that it would be mere moments before the beast breathed its last. But was the Treasure Hunter satisfied? No! He would never be satisfied with something so trifling as victory! Raising to the skies the device with which he had fused the machine to defeat the beast, both dissolved in a flash of light!
"I can't believe that worked." The illustrious treasure hunter would later be heard to admit.
Well some things happened and to make a long story short a good section of Tokyo is currently a pile of rubble. Possibly irradiated rubble, at that! Don't look at him like that! What would you do if you found yourself in possession of a giant robot lizard armed with more firepower than the entire United States Navy? Don't tell me you wouldn't test it out on the nearest target! It just... Happened that that target was in the middle of the city! And there was a slight amount of collateral damage! It happens! Not like anyone one important was still there after the evacuation due to the threat of the original Godzilla attack. Sheesh.
But for now, let us focus on a new character. One who you may not be as familiar with as you are with Takara Kureha, Treasure Hunter. His name is Jormungandr, and he is the world serpent. At the moment, Jormungandr, or Jormungandramon as he is sometimes called, is slithering his way through the Digital World. As he goes, his sheer weight leaves an indent in the ground. If he were to use his power for good, he could totally make a river through the desert! Wouldn't that be something!? But alas, Jormungandr is... Not the nicest Digimon in the Digital World. He is sour at a great many things. But mostly at Yggdrasil, the overseer of the Digital World, his creator.
It is at this time that Jormungandr comes upon something... Different. Like Takara Kureha before him, the Digimon has stumbled across a hidden portal to the human world. And unlike Takara Kureha, he both knows what it is- And is interested in crossing it. But alas, the portal is far too small for the magnificent bulk of the massive beast. With a sigh, he knows exactly what he must do, though he will hate every last moment of it. He relaxes.
The instant his guard goes down, the program implanted in his code by none other than Yggdrasil goes to work. The feeling of the data he is comprised of being compressed, shrunk, zipped... It is not a pleasant one. But it does the job. With a shudder, the great beast shrinks becoming but a fraction of his former glory. But even at the smallest Yggdrasil's compression can make him, the portal is smaller yet. But Jormungandr is not yet willing to give up. His mind is set on a goal, and that goal is through there. The earth shudders as the beast rams into the hole, face first.
It is a slow and arduous process. The walls of the portal are flush with his scales, as he forces his way through. The portal stretches slowly, millimeter by millimeter. But Jormungandr is patient. He knows the gate will break before he does. And he is right. For, the moment his head is fully through, the portal has been stretched enough that his thinner body will have no problem slipping through. He is free! Free from the world ruked by that accursed Yggdrasil! Free!
His first order of business, returning to size. There is a groan, and a shudder, and at once the data packets that make up the creature begin unzipping. It is not long before he has returned to the size he was at when we first saw him, the smallest that Yggdrasil's subroutine can force him to so long as he actively opposes it. That is to say, still quite large. For he is Jormungandr, the world serpent. When it comes to size, he is second to none.
But a noise in the distance tells him that he is not alone in this world. Not an uncontested beast. There is a challenger. Or, should it prove weak... A snack. It is easy to find it. A trail of massive footprints leads the way. The Midgard Serpent is on his way to Tokyo. And when he is done... There may not be much left to call a city.
The two meet. They size each other up. Jormungandr is by far the larger of the two, a snake of gargantuan size. On the other hand Takara Kureha should not be counted out on size alone. After all, he has on his side a beast that was unstoppable before his arrival... Fused to the machine that demostrated the power to defeat it handily! Takara grinned wildly as he leapt into the cockpit atop the head of what could essentially be called, MechaGodzilla. Who said the human world was boring? After today, he wouldn't be making that mistake again!
For several moments, nothing happened. Both combatants gave enough respect to the other to avoid the first move. Not for lack of Takara mashing every button and lever in an attempt to get things started, of course. But when it happened, it happened fast. Jormungandr leapt forward, deceptively fast for his size. And MechaGodzilla was there to meet it! The mighty serpents jaws were held apart, one in each arm of the mechanical monster. In terms of strength, they appeared to be equals. Jormungandr could not bite down to crush Mechagodzilla. Mechagodzilla could not force Jormungandr away from him. But they each still had weapons up their sleeves.
If their strength was equal, then Jormungandr would simply lower his foe's strength! From the venom ducts in the Pseudo-Digimon's fangs, a toxic cloud billowed forth to envelop the machine it fought. But, funny story. Machines aren't exactly affected by toxins, and despite the numerous organic Digimon (And giant monster thing) that were components, this was most certainly a giant machine. And Takara too, was safe in his cockpit and was unaffected. Such a shame. He would have to do this the hard way.
For his part, Mechagodzilla was happy to return fire. Rather literally, at that. From its mouth poured forth roaring flames, burning away the fog of toxins. Jormungandr roared with pain as the fire singed his gullet. Taking advantage of this distraction, Mechagodzilla took a step back, Jormungandr's jaws closing in on thin air. Not to waste this opportunity, the monster that actually had legs used them to charge forward at his foe.But while he could get his massive claws under the serpent's head, no matter how hard he tried, he could not lift it! How much did this thing weigh!?
Well, considering that Jormungandramon had the full weight of his true size... That is to say, his length being roughly the circumference of the Earth, he was preeeeetty heavy. Far heavier than a mere MechaGodzilla could lift. Nice try, though! But in trying, he had placed himself rather too close to the monstrous snake. It reared back, head to the sky... Then came crashing down, with all the force of the weight MechaGodzilla could not lift. A shockwave coursed out into the city from the force of the fall.
Buried to his neck in some combination of earth, concrete, stone, concrete, and rubble... Takara Kureha was not yet ready to admit his defeat. There was a sudden explosion, as a point-black shot on the earthen prison shattered it into nothing but a hole in the ground. It was time to revisit the finisher of last episode. MechaGodzilla's arm began rotating rapidly and became a drill. Jormungandr above showed no awareness of the explosion under his head, let alone the drill preparing to pierce him! Which a shout, Mechagodzilla leapt straight up, drill to the sky!
It worked! Takara Kureha had drilled straight into Jormungandramon's mouth! Whether he actually wanted to be there... May have been in question. The beast roared in pain. It began to feel like this fight might never end! Jormungandramon was too large for MechaGodzilla to damage more than a little, and none of Jormungandr's attacks seemed to penetrate MechaGodzilla's Digizoid armor. But MechaGodzilla knew that that had to change. While Jormungandramon's mouth remained open, the monster launched the cockpit from his head straight outside. Takara Kureha remained inside. And with his master safe, the machine dove straight into the serpents gullet.
BOOM
Inside the belly of the beast, MechaGodzilla's self destruct was loud enough to be heard across the country. Talk about indigestion! In turn, Jormungandr began writhing in pain. Thud. Thud. Thud. The serpents whiplike body crashed into the ground over and over, the shockwave of each blow throwing Takara in his cockpit away, to safety. The beast... Appeared to be in its death throes, its own stomach acid eating away at it from within. Crash. Thud. Wham. But these death throes were not ordinary ones. For Jormungandr is big. And heavy. And each time its throes caused it to strike the ground, it let out another shockwave.
After what seems like an eternity, the snake settles down. What was once Tokyo has been reduced to rubble, from multiple Kaiju battles within its borders. And Tokyo Bay has been expanded, the death throes of the world serpent having made a crater where solid rock once stood. A crater which quickly fills with seawater. But... It would appear that Death Throes is the incorrect term. For the beast is alive yet! Somehow, some miraculous how, has let it hold on through it all. For the moment. And it is this exhausted, pained, dying beast which Takara Kureha approaches.
"You. I like you! Join me!"
"I can't believe that worked." The illustrious treasure hunter would later be heard to admit.
