The sea of Japan. A tranquil place where many specimens of aquatic wildlife call home. However, the local fauna is not the only entity that is currently exploring the briny depths of the deep blue sea. Within a cramped space filled to the brim with naval personnel and expensive equipment, and only lit by a soft red lighting, a Captain stood firm as he watched over his little domain. Crow's feet sat at the edges of the Captain's dark brown eyes, creating an imperfection in his otherwise average features. The constant ping of the radar echoed around him, in sync with his slow breathing. Or rather, his breathing pattern was synced up with the radar's sound. he was currently aboard a Japanese nuclear submarine, which was on a routine sweep off the coast of Japan.
"Captain," a Naval officer spoke up, looking back toward the Captain's position. "Our radar is picking up a rather large object. It's bigger than any submarines in our records. It could be a whale, but the readings are..." he trailed off, which in turn caused the submarine's commanding officer to turn his attention to the man stationed before the radar screen. "Yes, Ensign?" The radar operator attempted to put together an explanation. "Well, they seem to be off. According to the equipment, this object is fifty meters in length. But, that's impossible. There's nothing that can possibly be that size, be it man-made or animal."
The Captain's curiosity was indeed piqued. "What is the unknown object's status?" The radar operator returned his gaze toward the display on his screen. "It's, well, moving. Toward us. Hang on...Oh no! It's right on top of us!" Before another word could be mustered, the submarine lurched violently, causing everyone to lose their footing or fall out of their chairs. Multiple breaches made their mark into the hull, and sea water began to spill violently into the submarine's interior. "Sir! We've been hit!" One of the sailors cried out. "Hull damage is eighty percent! Radiation levels are through the roof and rising, but more than what our submarine contains! We're taking water!"
However, this was no attack by another vessel. Outside, a giant reptilian-like beast with coal-black scales, and multiple bony dorsal plates running down it's back and long tail, was crushing the submarine with it's bare claws. It's yellow eyes glared at the submarine, now crushing it into pieces, killing all of the poor souls on board. Now finished with the scrap metal that used to be a Japanese sub, the 50-meter tall monster continued it's course. It's heading was none other than Japan.
It had been months since Johnathon moved to the wondrous land of the Rising Sun and met his best friend in the whole wide world. This is not a human we are talking about, oh no. It was in fact a Digimon that held a special place in John's heart. An Agumon that went by the name Casimeir.
Within the apartment complex that John and Casimier called home, the dynamic duo relaxed in the small living room watching the news on their television. Since John had not completely learned the local language as of yet, he was relieved that the Anchorwoman was speaking in English, with Japanese subtitles dancing along the bottom of the screen within a blue banner.
The living room window allowed the beautiful sunlight to trickle into the apartment. The natural light removed nay need for artificial light sources.
"Think anything interesting will be on the news?" Casimeir had asked his tamer, who merely shrugged in response. The two were currently relaxed on the couch. However, the anchorwoman's posture and tone suddenly changed. "Breaking news. It appears that what seems to be a giant monster is approaching landfall in Tokyo bay. We bring you now to our NHK news helicopter who has a live feed from Tokyo Bay."
John and Casimier's relaxed postures turned into attentive ones, now both sitting on the edge of the couch as they watched the screen intently. "Whoa, giant monster?" He was in shock. "Maybe it's a Digimon!" Casimeir exclaimed. Within moments, the screen showed the live video feed. The camera was out of focus for a moment, but then the problem remedied itself, showing a clear image of the reptilian kaiju rising from the bubbling water. The sea water ran down the scaly hide as it rose from the depths, wading it's way through the bay. It appeared to roar, but there was no sound that accompanied the picture. The anchorwoman's voice was dubbed over the video. "The President has initiated a state of emergency. residents of Tokyo are advised to evacuate immediately."
John's eyes were glued to the television. "I don't think that's a Digimon. C'mon, Cas. We're checking this out." John said with confidence, quickly grabbing his black hoodie and digivice. Moving with a sense of purpose, the Agumon and his tamer left their apartment.
On the ground floor of the complex, the elevator doors dinged, before sliding open. John and Casimeir barely waited for the doors to open all the way. Once in the street, John looked around, attempting to pinpoint where the monster was currently located. The sounds of the city were too loud to even hear anything monster related at this time, and it didn't help that the city-wide emergency Sirens were wailing in a wavering tone. "Ugh, this might be impossible to do at ground level. Cas, think you can fly us toward the bay as MetalGreymon?"
Casimeir's eyes lit up as he gave a confident smile. "Sure thing, John. That sounds like a perfect idea!" John returned the smile, pulling out his blue-gripped D-3 digivice. "Alright. Warp Digivolve!" He jabbed the Digivice toward Agumon, who was surrounded by a bright blue light. "Agumon! Warp Digivolve to..." The energy silhouette began to grow in size, creating an almost blinding light. John was so lucky that nobody was currently outside to witness this, or he would have a lot of explaining to do! Soon enough, the light faded, revealing a twenty-foot tall orange dinosaur blue stripes on his body. The Digimon now had cyborg parts, including a metal right arm, a metal helmet, and some cybernetics on his chest and tail. Purple tarnished wings were grown on his back, as well as a short red mane from underneath his helmet. "MetalGreymon!" Casimeir bellowed a proud roar once his Digivolution was complete.
John pumped the air with his fist. "Haha! Yes! That will never get old! I don't care how many times you Digivolve!" He was filled to the brim with excitement and pride, and continued to grin at his Digimon partner. The MetalGreymon grinned back at his tamer. "Alright." He said in a deeper, growlier voice. "Let's go see what this Digimon is made of! Climb on!" With that last command, Casimeir lowered his left organic law to the ground, and John did as instructed, climbing into the open palm. Once the cyborg Digimon lowered his head, John hopped onto the metal helmet that adorned MetalGreymon's head, approached the horn that protruded from the snout, and sat down, holding on to it.
Without wasting another moment, Casimeir began to flap his torn wings, and took flight to the skies above. The sudden movement caused John's insides to lurch from the sudden rise in G-force. Thankfully, his body adjusted, and the feeling subsided. Although this wasn't John's first time flying with his MetalGreymon, it still surprised him to this day that the enormous cyborg Digimon was able to fly with, for lack of better terminology, such flimsy wings.
John and his faithful MetalGreymon were now approaching Tokyo bay. The cool air blew against John's body, which caused his clothes to ripple from the wind that whipped around him. The kaiju was now within view of the pair. The sheer size of the beast was awe-inspiring. "That thing is one-hundred and twenty-six feet tall!" John exclaimed. But before Casimeir could reply, a dreadful sound pierced the natural calm of the environment around them. It was a roar. A bellowing roar that was unlike anything John had ever heard. No animal John had known of made such a powerful noise like this. To his ears, the monster's call resembled a rubber glove being dragged along the string of a double bass guitar. "That's no Digimon." Casimeir commented in a concerned tone of voice.
After scanning the city below to find a suitable location to land, the MetalGreymon lowered from the heavens, and perched himself upon a building's roof that overlooked the area in which the kaiju was currently located. John stood up atop Casimeir's head, still holding on to the horn before him. "Think you can take that big guy?" He asked while unable to tear his eyes away from the gigantic reptilian beast as it stomped toward the city through the water in the bay. It was slowly but surely making it's way toward land. "Maybe as MetalGreymon." Casimeir responded. But then, the pair was suddenly buzzed by five Imperial Army Air Service Mitsubishi F-15J Eagles. The jets flew overhead, and were fast-approaching the kaiju.
Within moments, the military aircraft opened fire upon the beast. From John's point of view, these minuscule jets would not even have enough firepower to even tickle the thick scaly hide. Just as John expected, the missiles and gunfire didn't even make a scratch. They merely impacted the hide of the monster, exploding upon contact, but no physical damage appeared to be dealt to the oncoming threat to Tokyo. The kaiju roared once more, turning his attention toward the attackers. He swiped his might tail upward and toward the jets, which scrambled. Unfortunately, one of the pilots did not react fast enough, and his jet was demolished by the tail's tip, exploding upon impact.
The remaining aircraft got back into their initial formation, now aiming to sweep back around and attack once again. But the kaiju was growing wise to the man-made weapons. The dorsal plates upon his back began to glow a bright blue in color, the intensity of the light increasing and decreasing over a course of four seconds, and without warning, the kaiju unleashed a blue energy breath weapon from it's mouth. The kaiju made a sweeping motion with the beam weapon, slicing through the remaining aircraft, which now suffered the same fate as their fallen comrade.
John and Casimeir could only watch the display in a mixture of shock and horror. "If that's what we're up against," John would speak, "then it looks like WarGreymon is our best shot." Casimeir nodded in agreement. He then lowered his head to the ground, allowing John to hop off. "Alright. MetalGreymon, Digivolve!" He removed the digivice from his pocket, and raised it toward MetalGreymon. Like before, the Digimon became a silhouette made of bright blue light. "MetalGreymon, Digivolve to..." The being of light changed in appearance, now taking the shape of a more human-shaped Digimon, shrinking about five feet. The light dispersed, and the Digimon that appeared took a fighting-stance pose. "WarGreymon!"
The recently-Digivolved Casimeir brandished his Dramon Killer gauntlets. "Alright. Time to take care of this monster before it makes landfall." Casimeir looked down to John. "You'll be safer here, John. I can't risk you getting hurt by that thing." John gave a reassuring smile to his partner. "Give him all you've got, buddy. I know you can do this!" With no more words needing to be exchanged, the WarGreymon took flight, and made a bee-line toward the kaiju.
Casimeir rushed toward the giant reptile at an unimaginable velocitiy. Within a matter of ten seconds, he was now in front of the monster at eye-level. He was not too close, yet close enough to be heard. "You! Turn back around and leave this city be. I am giving you one chance to comply. I don't want to be forced to become violent!"
The kaiju halted in it's tracks, rather surprised by this smaller being that was standing, rather floating, in it's way. The angry expression on it's face only appeared to become angrier, and it roared in defiance of this new challenger. If Casimeir thought that the call of this monster was thundering before, it was certainly quite earth-shattering up close. Once again the dorsal plates glowed, and the monster opened it's maw, revealing the fleshy pink insides and rows of incredibly sharp dagger-like teeth. A blue glimmer commenced to emanate in the back of it's throat; a surefire warning that another breath attack was about yo be launched.
Without wasting a moment, Casimeir grabbed the separate shield portions from his back, and slammed them together in front of him, putting the protective shell together. At that same time, the dangerous blue beam was released upon the WarGreymon, slamming hard into the shield that Casimeir was now utilizing. "Brave Shield!" He shouted. Thanks to the Brave Shield, the energy that collided into it was forced outward and around the Mega Digimon. The brunt of the attack caused WarGreymon to be pushed backward, but he wasn't going to let this monster best him in combat. He grunted, pushing forward with all of his might to remain in place. The beam attack lasted a good ten seconds before subsiding.
The kaiju reared it's head back a bit. It was taken aback by the Digimon's apparent battle prowess. Nonetheless, it would not allow this to be a distraction. The kaiju growled, and then screeched briefly, now attacking with a swipe of it's ginormous tail. The WarGreymon placed the shield back onto his back, once more taking the resemblance of armored wings, and reacted quickly by dodging the large appendage. Not wasting time, he charged the monster. he gauntlets he possessed began to glow with a bright yellow power. "War Driver!" The WarGreymon slashed four different times at the monster's chest area, actually managing to slice through the scaly armor that previously appeared impossible to pierce. The monster shrieked in pain as the wounds ran deep, thanks to the combination of the Dramon Killer gantlets' sharpness and the power that surrounded them.
In retaliation, the kaiju swiped at the WarGreymon with his own claws. The first one, Casimeir was able to dodge. But the second one, the WarGreymon was not so lucky. He cried out while he took damage by the sharp claws, causing blood to be drawn from the wounds that he suffered, and thus, swatted out of the sky. The WarGreymon crashed into the water. "Casimeir!" John shouted from his rooftop at the top of his lungs. "Come on! You can do this!"
Below the waves, Casimeir remained still with his eyes closed. Pain was piercing his body, especially so with the salt water surrounding him and touching the scratches he now bore. "Nng...I'm not gonna let one scratch stop me from beating this thing. I have to finish this quickly!" Slowly, his eyelids lifted to allow his blue eyes observe the water's surface. Feeling a new-found and revitalized sense of purpose, the WarGreymon shot back upward. He jetted out of the ocean, and flew high above the threatening kaiju.
John was absolutely relieved to see that his WarGreymon was alright. "Yeah! Come on, Cas! You got this! Take him out!" Once Casimeir raised his arms above his head and clasping the gauntlets together, Casimeir began to spin rapidly, surrounding himself in a gold-yellow miniature tornado. "Great Tornado!" Casimeir proceeded to launch himself at the kaiju with his gauntlet's blades being the focal point of the pointed twister. before the kaiju had a chance to react, the WarGreymon's attack pierced into the wound that was created from before. Blood commenced to spray from the punctured would while the Digimon continued his assault. Casimeir was boring deeper and deeper into the chest region a good thirty feet. All the while the giant monster was shrieking and screaming from the unbearable piercing, throbbing sensation.
Once his attack was complete, Casimeir flew backward from the kaiju a good distance to avoid any possible retaliation. "Time to end this!" The Dragon Man Digimon had one more trump card up his sleeve. The Mega-level placed his hands in front of himself below his waist at half-shoulder length, palms facing each other. he would start to draw upon the power of Earth's atmosphere, thus creating a small ball of energy that resembled a golden sun. As he charged up his attack, the sun-like sphere grew. Whilst it did, Casimeir rose the sphere over his head. He would spread his arms to accommodate the increasing girth of the energy ball. Now fully charged, the sphere was approximately four times the size of the WarGreymon.
Not about to be bested by such a small creature, the kaiju charged up it's own attack in a final attempt to finish off this strange adversary. Once his fins lit up, he opened his mouth. Except, something wasn't right. A great searing agony arose within the monster's chest. Instead of shooting from it's maw, the blue breath weapon broke through the fresh wound in it's chest. It unleashed a tormented roar that befell Casimeir's ears. The WarGreymon couldn't help but feel sorrow for the monster. "I'm sorry." He whispered. "But I am left with no choice." He closed his eyes to mentally prepare himself, and then launched the miniature sun sphere. "Terra Force! Huaaah!!!"
No sooner did the kaiju's beam attack subside when the Terra Force attack connected to the chest wound. The kaiju would try with all of it's might to hold it's ground, grabbing at the energy sphere. But it was to no avail. In the attack's final moments it detonated with immense power in a massive, fiery eruption and blinding glow of luminescence.
Johnathon shielded his eyes from the meretricious light. he gritted his teeth as he did so, unable to believe what he had just witnessed. As the white light subsided, the kaiju came into focus once again. But instead of moving, it was standing completely still. "Did..Did he win?" He asked in a soft tone of voice.
Meanwhile, WarGreymon looked down upon the beast that had threatened the millions of people that resided in Japan. It was as though his cool blue eyes were piercing this monster's soul, if it even had one to begin with. The kaiju weakly looked up toward it's triumphant foe. And then, the light of life in it's eyes faded. It's eyelids grew heavy, now closing. In these very critical moments, the life slipped away from the kaiju, who's body merely keeled over with it's legs no longer supporting it's weight. The monster fell to the right, and it's lifeless body crashed into the bay. Casimeir was exhausted. "It's over. It's finally over." He sighed, saddened that he had to take the life of the kaiju. But in the end, he was protecting the lives of Tokyo. More importantly, he was looking after his Tamer's safety and well-being. That's all that mattered in the end.
