NOTE: Warning, Massive
"Oh I'm so glad you guys came out here to visit! I missed you so much!" The redhead exclaimed happily as she pulled her brothers into a big hug. Jeremy's booming laugh basically drowned out Morgan's much softer chuckling, but both siblings were more then willing to oblige their dear sister with group hugs. It had been several years now since the trio had seen each other, so the event was treated as even more a special occasion then it normally was. Especially given the reason they were so hasty to come and check up on their little sister.
"Of course we'd come to visit! You had us worried sick, you know?" Morgan answered back with a smile. Alicia smiled back at him, before looking between her brothers. Of course she knew exactly why they were worried sick. This was the first time she'd been able to return from that other world... the world she hadn't told them of yet.
"Yeah, I mean honestly, at least leave us a message if your going to vanish off the face of the Earth for so long like that!" Jeremy continued, waving his arms frantically. "We were looking every where we could for you but you never even made a peep as to what was going on." The eldest sibling certainly looked weary from his own efforts. "So... what happened...?"
Alicia took a deep breath looking back at her pack where she'd hidden the new D-Scanner that she'd acquired early in her adventure. "It's a very long story with... many unbelievable aspects to it..." she answered cautiously. The brothers stared at their sister with curiousity plainly written on their faces. "And to be honest, even I still don't believe most of it happened... Could we shelve that matter for now and just enjoy our time together?"
The brothers nodded, understanding that for whatever reason the topic was something of a sore spot for Alicia. Taking a seat on her couch, Jeremy smiled up to the youngest sibling. "Well then, wanna play a game to get your mind off things?" As he posed the question, he rummaged through his suitcase pulling out a copy of the latest Super Smash Brothers game, specifically the Wii U version. "I mean, I know you're not much of a gamer but what's family for?"
Alicia chuckled, finding the fighting game a very ironic thing to see given she'd been fighting so much as it is. Still, that was real life. What was being offered had no strings attached, no threat of oblivion should she lose. "Well, lets see if a little cartoon violence can brighten the day." Taking the disc and sliding it into the console they'd brought and hooked up, the three siblings grabbed their controllers and settled in as the game started.
... Only to have its small opening animation fizzle out. In it's place battle between giants was taking place. Two disembodied gloved hands clashed repeatedly with a strange blank slate of a human figure, its only real defining feature being the butterfly wings sprouting from its back. Apparently they were at the tail end of the fight, the figure released three shockwaves from his wings, blowing the hands away where they at last laid still.
"What the... that's Tabuu... and he just wrecked both Master Hand and Crazy Hand..." Jeremy muttered, shocked. Morgan had nothing to say on the matter. The only other noise that occured was Alicia's phone alerting her to a text message. 'We have failed... our world will be ruined shortly. To any who received this message, please. Help us. - MH&CH' the message read with the Smash logo beside the signature. She sighed softly, relaizing that even now the call of a warrior would reach her.
'Pity... all I'd wanted to do today was just relax and take it easy for once...' Alicia thought as she focused again. "Alright then, consider this crisis done and over with." Ignoring the shocked exclamations of her brothers, the redhead grabbed her D-Scanner and held it up to the screen. She barked sharply. "Digi-Port, Open!" It was a hunch to be honest, but one that was proven right. The kanji for Steel flashed on her D-Scanner's screen, and energy sparked between the devices, forming the electronic portal that would lead her to the world that called out to her. "See you in a bit." she shot to her brothers, giving them no time to react as she jumped through the portal, sealing it behind her.
She didn't know how long she fell between worlds, only that when she descended into the Smash universe, it was a world of chaos. The plains she'd landed in at on any other day would've been peaceful and lovely, the kind of spot one would plan a picnic at. With Tabuu running rampant and no smashers available to bar his path, his Subspace world had spread farther and wider then ever before. Blatant spikes of the otherworldly miasma tore the land apart and villainous creatures from every franchise that was represented roamed freely.
"Well, no time like the present." Alicia mused. "Spirit Evolution! ShadowArmsdramon!" Summoning forth the power of her dark-sided Human Spirit, the Steel Warrior charged off, noting where the Subspace distortions were growing more destructive and rampant. The mooks of gaming, such as Goombas, Octoroks, and other such simple foes were cast aside as one would brush dust off the table.
"Well, what's the plan, Alicia? We'll need some sort of clue to lead us to this fiend 'Tabuu.'" the steel spirit abruptly spoke up with the inquiry, and Alicia could almost feel him tilting his head while regarding her in curiousity. It never ceased to amaze her that the spirit seemed so active and animated.
"Finding Tabuu is not exactly possible by myself. With any luck, though, covering enough ground will lead us to some of the Smashers. Yeah, a fight will break out, but I'm liable to knock some sense into someone. Then we can start getting clues of where to go from there." the ninja dragon woman explained to him, keeping her voice to a whisper. "Either way, this is going to either be long slog, or a rapid series of fights back to back."
"Neither option is particularly favorable." The spirit replied. "A long campaign grants Tabuu time to grow, should he be aware of your coming, while a repeated fights may leave you weary and helpless in a critical moment. Are you sure this is the wisest course of action?" That was one thing Alicia was glad she could count on. As irritating as the spirit could sometimes be, he at least was able to offer his own view point. If she really had to, she could bounce ideas off of him. It was the closest to a literal interpretation of 'two heads are better then one' that any human could come to without another person phsyically present there.
"Well, no, but it's the only idea I've got. Besides I might be functioning under video game rules right now which would mean infinite stamina in this case. Only one way to find out." She wasn't exactly a gamer girl, but Jeremy and Morgan had both dabbled in video games growing up, so it was no surprise she had some clue as to what was going on. Thankfully, she wasn't so lost in her musing to notice the shadow that had come over her. With a yelp, she dived to the side, barely avoiding a certain Koopa King's 'Bowser Bomb' special.
"That... is one ugly turtle..." Alicia quipped as she got up. "Dragon turtle actually, as the case appears to be. Doesn't change the comment about appearances, though." her spirit quickly corrected. The ninja dragon rolled her eyes, deploying her claw blades and hunching down, lying in wait. She didn't want to rush such a bulky beast recklessly after all.
Thankfully, Bowser had the opposite thought process in mind. With a grating roar the first recurring villain of gaming charged, the earth trembling with his every pounding step. As he drew close, the Koopa lashed out with a claws hand, which ShadowArmsdramon launched herself over, deftly evading the predictable attack.
"Night Shredder!" she howled in return, twisting around and striking the king's head and shell repeatedly, sending Bowser to his knees for a second. As she landed though, the great Koopa was already upon her again, this time she failed to escape his grasp. Reaching forward, Bowser sank his fangs into the digimon's shoulder, eliciting a shriek of pain from ShadowArmsdramon before the dragon turtle wheeled around and hurled her into a nearby boulder head first.
Groaning from the impact, ShadowArmsdramon shook the stars from her eyes and wheeled around to face her foe again. This time taking the initiative, the digimon charged in return. Bowser responded to this by taking a breath in order to loose his flames upon the newcomer. Alas, the brain was not the Koopa King's strong point, thus he failed to correctly judge her speed and received a lunging double claw slash to the gut for his trouble. Not letting up, ShadowArmsdramon jabbed at Bowser rapidly, intending to stab her claws into any weakness in his scaly armor she could find.
She was not aware, unfortunately, that super armor was a thing in this game and that Bowser was gifted with it almost all the time. Recovering impossibly fast, the king summoned up the energy shield that all Smashers were gifted right as the digimon's fist was about to connect with it, a resounding 'clang' ringing out as ShadowArmsdramon's claws were forcibly rebounded. Left wide open by the 'Power Shield' technique, ShadowArmsdramon was only able to watch as Bowser crossed his fist over his body and promptly backhanded her right back into the boulder that was now sporting a hole in it shaped like her body. And as she tried to free herself, the Koopa King wound up again, delivering a solid pair of heavy punches right to ShadowArmsdramon's chest, leaving her hacking and gasping for breath.
Fortunately she was able to catch her breath sufficiently enough to jump up and away from the following fire breath, which actually melted the boulder behind her into so much lava. "Okay, I get it, I underestimated you..." ShadowArmsdramon shot to the raging dragon turtle. "No more nice Alicia..." Turning towards her, Bowser sweeped his flaming breath about, but this time it was ShadowArmsdramon who shielded her way through her foe's attack. Exploding out from the protective barrier, she hopped over him and stomped his head hard, sending the king face first into the ground with a furious screech.
As he was attempting to rise, the ninja dragon gripped his collar and jammed her blades into his chest over and over again, before using unnatural strength to haul him up over her head and smash him back down into the ground. The Smash worlds rules were starting to take effect now, each significant impact starting to launch both fighters depending on the severity. Unfortunately for him, Bowser's 'launch level' wasn't sufficient to save him from the re-grab and second slam down. Rushing under the flying turtle, ShadowArmsdramon swept both her arms in a single northbound arc, catching Bowser again and launching him higher still.
Beating her wings, ShadowArmsdramon jumped after him, intending to continue juggling him higher still in the hopes of hitting a blast line and ending this fight right now. She underestimated the Koopa King's recovery speed though, and this time caught the full force of the incoming Bowser Bomb, crushed between the dragon turtle's weight and the unforgiving earth. As the Koopa King rose, he didn't allow the digimon any break, scooping her up into one of his claws and finally scoring a solid blow with his fire breath.
Coughing up smoke from the blaze, the ninja dragon twisted, managing to slip out of his grip and quickly wind up a firece double thrust punch, sending the Koopa King flying back. Taking a moment to catch her breath, ShadowArmsdramon snarled as she she decided to change forms with the space she made herself. "Slide Evolution!" Ninja gear switched out for knightly armor. Drawing her new blade and bringing out her shield, she declared the name of her new form, "SolSaberdramon!"
Bowser was on his feet again by the time the digimon finished changing forms, and the two were at a stalemate for the moment. At least, until SolSaberdramon unveiled her ranged attack. "Steel Prominence!" she called as a few beams of light fired off from her decorative metal wings, catching the Koopa King off guard and providing an opening for SolSaberdramon to close in. Her blade sang through the air and bit into Bowser with the dashing horizontal swing, knocking her foe behind her. Twisting around, she delivered a smashing kick to the rising turtle's head, knocking Bowser down once more before grounded sweep of her sword sent him flying once more.
Once last time, SolSaberdramon rushed underneath Bowser, but instead of jumping up after him, she waited, tensing her body. Bowser pulled into his shell, flipped over, and came crashing down spikes first. He was about to get a rude awakening though. SolSaberdramon released all her pent up strength into an upward swing, which clashed and then beat out Bowser's spiky shell. The punishing blow rocketed Bowser skyward, followed by a sudden explosion erupting from the Koopa King, declaring the match SolSaberdramon's victory. Completely beaten, Bowser landed roughly and groaned. It seemed the most iconic villain in the gaming world was coming out of a kind of daze...
As it turns out, Bowser had a heart of gold when it came to his kids. It took a lot of convincing, but once the King of the Koopas had proof that his kids were being mind controlled, he was much more open to the idea of co-operating with Alicia. That co-operation had ended up in the duo fighting and clawing their way through every character that had ever participated in an official Super Smash Bros. title, freeing them all from Tabuu's machinations as they went.
It all culminated into this. She was now staring down the source of all this madness. Lord of Subspace, Originator of Stagnation in the Smash universe, Tabuu now floated before her in a writhing world built upon the blocks that had been set forth by the creation of the Master Fortress. The meant the whole area around them was alive, and it was something Tabuu was using to recover his strength after his assault of the grand gathering of all Smashers.
"It's over Tabuu!" she shouted to the Lord of Subspace. "Everyone you enthralled has been set free. Your final guardians are crushed under their united forces. You've run out of places to hide in. You're completely out of options!" The way the electronic man-figure with butterfly wings spread just... smiled at her was unnerving.
"It is never over, newcomer." A shudder ran down Alicia's spine at Tabuu's tone. He was so deadened, so emotionless, that it shocked her with the fact that such a beign was able to work up the ambition to take over the world by swallowing it with his own domain. "So long as one man exists, I will live. You have been a thorn in my side for too long, so I will make you repent for your sinful life by turning you against your friends, the other 'Smashers'."
"Over my dead body." Alicia shot back, Spirit Evolving to SolSaberdramon in the same motion. "Let's throw down Tabuu, so I can send you back to where you belong!" The figure rose from his hunched position, blank eyes gleaming in the sinister bio-light of the arena. "Be careful, Alicia..." the Steel Spirit cautioned.
She had no time to answer him, Tabuu had lashed out quickly with his golden chain. It was a move she had just barely seen coming in time and avoid. Before she could even get her bearings though, the Lord of Subspace's free hand stretched out, firing a veritable storm curtian of energy bullets that pinned SolSaberdramon down, leaving her wide open to the follow up blast that sent her flying. Again, Tabuu was ridiculously fast on chaining his moves together, reshaping himself in to a shark like creature and charging. SolSaberdramon had managed to avoid this one and land safely.
When Tabuu suddenly reappeared, SolSaberdramon went on the attack. "Radiant Slash!" she called, swiping her sword rapidly in mimicry of the Dancing Blade specials she'd seen Marth, Lucina, and Roy all employ. Her blade was swift and true, piercing Tabuu and ripping back out viciously, flinching the dark lord for a moment. Twisting around, SolSaberdramon back-kicked Tabuu to the ground, then unleashed her Steel Prominence attack upon his prone form.
An explosion occured as Tabuu teleported out the way, appearing again right behind SolSaberdramon so that his next teleport caught her in the blast, launching her frighteningly far. Oh if only she hadn't taken so much damage from each of Tabuu's chosen guardians. As she came down, she curled up and spun around, holding her sword out and cutting several deep gashes into Tabuu's side.
The Lord of Subspace frowned and duplicated himself after that. The clone grew to a massive size and started bathing the area with his eye laser blasts. Meanwhile, the original straightened out and suddenly began blasting carbon copy images of himself that exploded on contact with anything. It was difficult to avoid the two wide area attacks at the same time, but she managed it with far too many close calls where she had to Power Shield an attack. As soon as Tabuu had finished and his clone faded away, the knight dragon was on the assault again.
Spiralling through the air, she slashed and kicked at him whenever she saw a clean attack. "Radiant Slash!" She called out, swiping her sword acrossed Tabuu's face and deep into his chest, sending him stumbling away. Believing this was a chance to press the advantage, SolSaberdramon charged in, her blade mere inches from his core. A pity the entire thing was a trap. At point blank range Tabuu released his 'Off Waves', tearing into the knight dragon and blasting her away, she only stopped when she slammed into the far wall and collapsed onto the floor in a heap.
SolSaberdramon groaned, everything was distant in her mind as her vision swam. She wanted to think that the Steel Spirit she bore was calling out to her, but anything he was saying was lost on her ears. She could make no move to rise, and Tabuu was walking over to her, his blank eyes boring into her as he moved cautiously. Once already his plans had come undone. He wasn't about to take a chance this time. Still, he was glad that the little girl had failed to notice the ball that had been floating around them since the beginning of the battle.
Truly, he knew that with this opponent a Smash Ball could turn the tide of battle immediately. Perhaps it would have even ended the battle instantly, some Final Smashes were especially ridiculous in power even for a character's home series. He would have to end her now before she could awaken and continue the fight. Fortunately SolSaberdramon had some back up on the way. Weakened as they were they could make no meaningful difference in the ammount of damage dealt to Tabuu, but Crazy Hand didn't seem to care, his mad cackle the only warning the Lord of Subspace got before he was rammed into, pushed back.
Master Hands own laugh resounded through the field. While he held no sway over Subspace, the Smash universe was his creation, and that was a fact that allowed him to... bend the rules when the time calls. Crazy Hand barred Tabuu's path while Master Hand grasped the Smash Ball and floated over to SolSaberdramon's still form. Crushing it in his grip, the essence of creation sprinkled the shards over the fallen digimon, wielding his power to infuse her with it's might. The aura of hope burned around her, the sky darkened as power was set.
Crazy Hand screamed as Tabuu sent the mad essence of destruction packing with a dragon head breath attack, which had gone on to lance through Master Hand, striking him down for the time being as well. They had done what they set out to accomplish though. Tabuu looked, and Alicia was on her feet once more, having reverted to be ready for activating her greatest power. "You lose, Tabuu." was Alicia's only comment as her Final Smash ignited. Much like a Mega Evolution such as with Charizard or Lucario, Alicia was enveloped in a brilliant light, the armor of her ultimate form coming together around her body.
Where once a human stood defiant, a Dragon Knight towered in challenge. "This changes nothing!" Tabuu shouted, his first response of vocal emotion. He knew that was a lie though. He knew as soon as the Hands had interfered that at the last moment he would fail once more.
"... Spiral Madness." ChaosSaberdramon spoke in finality as the chains on her sword fell away. The twisting blade warped and opened, and chaotic destruction lanced out. Tabuu hadn't even had the time to consider teleporting, the blast had torn through his body, shattered his wings, annihilated his core. He faded away as he mostly live, silent, emotionless, machine-like.
The Dragon Knight turned and walked away, cape fluttering in the wind as Tabuu's remains exploded behind her. It was over. She returned to being a normal human and groaned softly at her many injuries. An actual vacation sounded lovely right about now, but she'd never forget this world. Perhaps when it had been given time to heal as she too needed, she would come back and enjoy a proper battle with the Smashers. That day was not today though.
As suddenly as she had arrived, she created a portal and left the game world of Super Smash Bros.
