The weird phone booth in the middle of a crowded sidewalk was certainly out of place, but she didn't ever imagine that it would be this out of place. Sumiko and her partner Goblimon just had to know what was up with it. But she really didn't expect... well... this.
At first it just seemed like a normal phone booth, there was no jerking, the phone didn't work because there were no wire connections. They were in and out in less than a minute. But as they stepped out into the hellscape before them, buildings crumbled and in ruins. "Goblimon... I'm pretty sure this isn't Shibuya..." Susu would speak up, her voice echoing awkwardly through the emptiness. "No... it would appear that it isn't. Think we can just sorta... go back?"
With that, a high speed projectile smashed into the phone booth right behind them. They would simultaneously whip right around to see what that was, debris being scattered in every which direction. The most upsetting debris of all of it would be the scraps of time-traveling phone booth scattering and settling amongst the brick-colored remnants of what was probably one Shibuya. The young girl would blink for a moment, and then turn her head towards Goblimon, "Nope," she would speak, holding out the 'n' for a second as if uncertain of her answer.
Suddenly the debris in the direction of the projectile would shift, as a tall woman wearing what we'll call a long-sleeved underboob cut leather jacket, some leather pants, and a sort of masquerade style half-helm, would emerge from the rubble. The lady spoke in a twin voice, "Ugh, freaking Infermon patrols..." she spoke, in a voice that sounded like a heroic version Sumiko's but overlapping with a more powerful-sounding version of Goblimon's. You know, like what their voices would sound like if they were CONSTANTLY TALKING LIKE SUPERHEROES!
The two young ones would stare at the woman, gawking as she just got up from being flung that fast and hard through stuff. "Are you alright, lady?" Sumiko would ask, half expecting a 'no'. "Perfectly fine young lass! You should really get going ho... Oh..." the dual voices spoke crisply and clearly, before cutting off upon realizing the circumstances. "Well that isn't good," she would mention, in a rather deadpan dual tone.
Pulling out a smart phone from her pants pocket, she would tap the screen a few times, and placed it against their head. "Yeah, Richard. We have a little problem with the phone booth," she would speak in dual tone. After a moment of listening she'd speak up again, "Well, I mean, A: You didn't make it impervious to damage, and B: You left it in the middle of Shibuya, and C: I just got launched right through it. It felt like a screen door, Richard."
Sumiko looked over at Goblimon again and muttered, "Welp, we've got some time, why don't we explore?" "Sounds good to me, lead the way~!" Whilst the tall woman was chattering in dual tone with who was apparently her tech support specialist, the two young ones skulked off into the wastes to see what it was that was happening around the place. Obviously the right thing to do in the situations, at hand.
They walked around for what must have been an hour before they happened upon something familiar. In the midst of all the wreckage, a single house stood, as if nothing had happened. It had everything a house needed, there was a lawn, a fence around it. Susu would place her hand on the fence, before a hand scanner took a reading, and a checkmark flashed, the fence unlocking a second thereafter. She would take a step forward and into the place, Goblimon following in tow. "Hey Susu, isn't this... your place?" "Eeeyup," she would respond to her curious partner. Her house appeared to be in perfect condition, as if no time had passed at all.
As the fence began to close behind them, it stopped with a sudden rattling, as if impacting against something. "Well, well, my little pretty, what would you be doing out at this time of day? And with so little protection. You know, it's not normal for us Digimon to get a meal so easily this day and age." Susu would turn around to see a Gizumon-XT, an ultimate level gizmo digimon. Its body was made of spheres primarily, but it had arms and legs made from plates connected by cables, and what appeared to be a security camera for a head.
Goblimon would interject, "H-hey, let's be civil for a moment, why don't we, huh? Digimon can't eat humans, they aren't made of data!" Susu would tremble a bit, recalling that an ultimate level was typically out of their league. "Oh, but you don't understand, deary. This isn't where Shibuya as you know it. This is..." "Shadow Axis!" shouted a familiar voice. A blade of darkness fired from out of view and interrupted the Gizumon-XT with a solid cut across its body, blowing it away. It was a devastating blow, which sent the ultimate level digimon, which was a story or two taller than anyone present, flying away. From the same direction emerged a familiar face to go with the voice, a dual tone simultaneously feminine and masculine hero type sound. "You shouldn't be here, this is my turf, Gizumon!" spoke the woman from before, still wearing a mask, still wearing leather. The ultimate level digimon would emerge from some rubble with a slice across its body, revealing some of its data structure. "That's Gizumon-XT to you, honey!" corrected the giant monster, with a tone that shouted 'sassy', albeit it was computerized so it was hard to tell.
"Tch, wrong response," spoke the lady, pulling out a pair of what appeared to be desert eagles or some other high caliber handgun. "Primal Hellstorm!" she would call out, unleashing a flurry of bullets from both guns, with bullets that were crystalline, and blue. Upon impact each of the bullets exploded violently, causing Gizumon to stumble back with a growing number of holes, until it was like swiss cheese. At that point all it could say was, "D--damn you BeelStarrmon..." before finally breaking down into data. Said data flowed into the handguns, and the small woman who was also a digimon apparently, would stow them away, after blowing smoke from the barrels.
"Now. Young Sumiko! You shouldn't be here, let's head inside."
Susu and Goblimon would comply, mostly curious how BeelStarrmon knew her name. It hadn't come up as of yet, so there was a bit of discrepancy there. "Now Susu. I should let you know, that I'm you," spoke the tall woman. Well that answered one question and created so many more. Such as: "What?" spoke Sumiko, "That doesn't sound right. I'm me, and I don't have blonde hair or giant boobies, nor do I like leather."
"That's true, you are you. But I should clarify... I'm the you from here. I've biomerged with Goblimon to create BeelStarrmon, and have been fending off evil digimon for a while now." To verify this, she would glow a bright light and part into two bodies, a goblimon who was significantly more scarred up than the goblimon that Susu was partnered with, and an older, and significantly more busty version of Susu herself, pink hair and all. "I've gotta say, Richard's not gonna like that I spent so much as a minute outside of BeelStarrmon form," she would say.
"Biomerged? Sounds complicated, really," Susu would comment, not particularly interested in it beyond how it turned her into an awesome badass lady with guns. "It really, really is." spoke older Sumiko, not really in the mood to explain it. Older Goblimon and Goblimon stared at one another introspectively, pondering life and whatnot.
"So... like... if you're future me. Does that mean that I get beat up a whole bunch?" asked Goblimon. "Yep." responded Older Goblimon in a deadpan mannerism, "Well, I mean, if I'm future you..." On the latter part, he put a bunch of emphasis on the 'if' part of the sentence as if to imply another option.
The Sumiko's continued their conversation, "See this isn't actually the 'future'. This is a computerized what-if simulation gone entirely meta. I'm just a computerized variant of you in a few years, after having lived in a world where Digimon can eat humans because humans are made of data in the simulation. As you can guess, this led to all kinds of genocidal attacks from the superior digimon, and as they progressed, tearing the world apart, they only got stronger. So, all I can say on the matter is that there's a lot of digimon who out class you in every way here, and unless we can boot you out of the simulation you're in danger. The thing is, these digimon are running out of food, and wish to break free to wreak this havoc on the real world. I've been preventing them from doing that for as long as I can."
Older Sumiko's explanitory rant went on and on, all the while she was leading the gaggle of individuals to the basement, inputting a code at the door to the stairs, before it opened. "Basically, this last hub of the resistance is also the only place that you can escape through. Which is good, because I need you to do me a favor. As it stands only the Digimon and humans originally from the prime world can use the technology to escape the simulation. We've sent many to their deaths trying to figure out a way to get a data-based human through, but now we don't need to continue. We can get you out of here, and you can destroy the phone booth that brought you here, destroying this messed up simulation once and for all."
"But won't that kill all of you?" little Susu would question, rather uncertain as to whether or not a world destroying pummeling session on a phone booth was the actual way to go. "Trust us, we aren't actually alive, and all the other digimon asides a select few, are ready to destroy your world at the slightest chance. I can't fend them off forever, you've got to do this. Our world doesn't matter, your world does."
Sumiko wasn't so sure, but as their conversation progressed, they would have found themselves already on the transport pedestal waiting to go. She opened her mouth to say something, but a press of a button later, she and Goblimon was in the phone booth again... The young girl would step out of the phone booth, a disconcerted gaze in her eyes. Without hesitating for a second though, Goblimon was on top of destroying the phone booth. "Goblin Rush!" he would declare, battering and bashing the trap into oblivion. Susu interjected, "Goblimon wait! What if...!?" She was interrupted, "I don't care Susu! You saw what the world looked like in there! An army, no, armies and armies of Ultimate Level digimon waiting to escape and rampage through your world. Ruins left in their wake, with only a handful of humans left alive. I don't ever want to see a world like that, not here, not anywhere. I like your human world!"
By the end of his words, the phone booth was destroyed, rendered little more than an oddly-shaped pile of blue scrap metal. "Sorry, Susu... I'm pretty triggered about this whole situation. Let's just not speak of it again... alright?" spoke Goblimon, catching his breath and calming down. Sumiko would consider for a moment... "Yeah alright..."
They would then walk home again, little time had actually passed but they were already so exhausted mentally. Sumiko would blurt out, "But that biomerge stuff sounded pretty neat huh?"
At first it just seemed like a normal phone booth, there was no jerking, the phone didn't work because there were no wire connections. They were in and out in less than a minute.
